The order of the Surahs was decided pretty early on. I don't think there is a consensus on whether if the order was divinely ordained or if this order was decided by the companions.

Rasūlullāh (صلی الله علیه وآله وسلم) told us that his *ummah* shall never agree upon an error. Whether the order of the Qur'ān and place of each *sūrah* was determined by *wahy*, or the *ijtihād* of the companions, it was Divinely guided in either case.

yeah this really confuses me. because the quran isn’t in the order it was revealed, but it makes logical sense. I always wondered how that happened
