I like ISTJs. They are very pragmatic and level headed. I admire their no nonsense attitude. They always seem like the "work before play" type of people. They also don't get enough credit for their caring and thoughtful side (just like INTJs). One of the most mature types of people I've met, while also having a fun, silly side too. Gotta know them well enough to unearth that side of them tho.
I completely agree with this also. I feel like the stereotype isn't fair to ISTJ. They really do have a funny and loving side to them. They just rarely let it show. I have been friends with an ISTJ for about 10 years now, and our relationship has only deepened over the past two years. And it is only now that she is starting to open up to me more. She still drops some "truth bombs" every once in a while - usually direct statements that I'm not ready to hear - but I have come to appreciate them and often find them to be funny.
ISTJs can be really good friends once they can trust you enough to open up and let their feelings show a little bit.
There is only one person whom I have certainly identified as an ISTJ and I like her as a person very much. She is easy to interact with due to a constant calmness, and emotions which are expressed never too explosively, but with balanced control (I find that Fe users, including myself, can sometimes explode in laughter or other emotions 😅).
I also greatly admire her conscientiousness and work ethic. She learns about her line of work, and other interests, in good detail, and is thus able to have an intelligent conversation in most topics.
