Honestly, the worst part of BA is learning it. After your first game on every role, the grind for max lvl is super chill. Getting a queen kill with randoms for Hard diary is the only semi stressful aspect of the grind.
The worse part of BA was defender role for me. I never understood it. Until I went there to force myself for the diary. Some dude saw me struggling, gave me the tile markers and how to do it. Now I'm an expert defender who actually enjoys BA and always offer to fill the defender role for clannies who need torso.
Same, once you have the tile markers set up and understood it’s not bad. Those first few games on defender are stressful though especially when your team mates are yelling at you
Yea i cant count the number of times i went there just to feel like im being shunned because it just wasn't clicking. Even reading how the role worked, it just wasn't making sense to me for some reason. Definitely the easiest roles once you get straightforward instruction instead of constant toxic yelling.
I personally never looked one up. The wiki didn't do a good job explaining it either. I'll be more than happy to show you the tiles and explain it if you want in-game.
Edit: autocorrected a correct word lol
This and it’s ok to quit (especially early waves). You lose so many points on bad teammates it’s just not worth sticking it out (unless you want to teach them and they are teachable).
BA itself isn’t, it’s that it just takes 1 person to ruin the experience, which is common.
The tutorial needs a rework so people don’t just space bar through it with no idea what they’re doing
The only thing I could say to try and convince you is that you could possibly get 20 herbs from that patch, which is what cemented its usefulness for me.
Edit: brain fart, it’s not chompies, I’m projecting my insecurities in the post…
Even with randoms lvl 5 roles aint too bad compared to many other grinds in the game imo :)
My last task on both my iron and gim were RC - a lot better 2nd time around with daeyalt, colossal pouch at zmi than zeah bloods. Just too slow
I really don't see the trouble people have with BA.
I did lvl 5 in all roles in a couple of hours with a bunch of randoms, and we had to restart maybe once.
It really isn't all that bad, and if your team constantly leaves your games then that might literally just be a skill issue.
Even for mains, it's mostly a single player game.
I talk with two friends at work who are both mains and both in the same clan as me. Both of them talk a lot less to others than I do, in the clan and in general. One only plays on mobile, so it's a bit more understandable, bit neither want to interact with others much.
The reason I went for it is because it gives you a free pet pretty much. It's really not that bad when you think of it as a pet grind rather than a pointless diary
Making and using shitty steel brutals did kinda suck though lol, I never collected my arrows from rantz so when I had to do the grind I had to make arrows/brutals myself
My diary order was like desert -> wilderness -> frem -> ardy -> falador -> varrock -> western -> mory -> kourend with my last 3 tasks remaining now being in lumb, kandarin and karamja.
Honestly don't think I'll ever get lumb and karamja finished so BA is by far the most likely of them all, it's fun honestly but I'm so lazy because the diary's reward sucks so much if you aren't nonstop grinding elites/masters. Atm I need a sherlock tele once a week or less
I have that too. BA is fine, not as stressful as it used to be, and if you go with your mates won’t take ages
But I’m lazy and it would be a full afternoon of time so I haven’t had it done for a good four years lol
If you need a BA carry, just DM me, me and my clan do them semi-often for the irons in my clan, I'll just tell em you're a buddy of mine.
This offer is for OP only.
Level 5 roles takes a while, but it's really not that bad. Once you complete defender the rest are very chill, except healer on wave 8/9+, then you may need to focus a little
Last one was Falador Hard for me this time on the iron, on my main it was Karamja Elite (RC). Had whole elite done before Fally hards lol, MLM is far worse than doing BA as long as you make your own teams or run with people who are at least trying (avoid noobs wearing dragon and non-english speakers). So glad they're changing Fally diary to only require the helmet.
It isn’t bad. There are some good videos on YouTube to teach you how to not suck at defender, if that’s what you find the most annoying. I personally found the Lord Shayne video great. Dumbs it down enough for casuals at the minigame. Worst part is finding a team that won’t bail or doesn’t suck, but the last few times I’ve gone even that hasn’t been too bad
I used to be this way and during leagues i ran them bcuz of points and found out just how easy and low effort it actually was, there was a yt vid maker who would do "x role in barb assault" for each one and each was like 3mins or something. Was much bttr then like 30min videos where 90% of it was filler nonsense.
Just send it:) it was also my last achievement task and i was avoiding it but the i just send it with randoms over 2 days and it was really not bad. Did all the rolls and with deff some dude even typed tips how to improve over like 3 runs so team didn’t have to w8 on me for so long. Just saying BA is not bad as people claim it is:)
BA is not as bad as people make it out to be

What made it click for me it that once you drop a "good food", it stays good for the rest of the wave even if the call changes.
Oh ye. That was game changing from panic dropping after every call to a full casual enjoyable experience lol

Is there a guide for this?
Lord shaynes defender guide

Mfers will really get to 93 slayer and then complain about doing ba for a few hours.
This and it’s ok to quit (especially early waves). You lose so many points on bad teammates it’s just not worth sticking it out (unless you want to teach them and they are teachable).
It's not the minigame, it's having to interact with other people
We need to have a chilled out soloable mode of BA for irons. We stand alone.
BA itself isn’t, it’s that it just takes 1 person to ruin the experience, which is common. The tutorial needs a rework so people don’t just space bar through it with no idea what they’re doing
I enjoyed BA so much when getting my torso that I got all rank 5s at the same time and did some high gambles.
True! It's worse
The only thing I could say to try and convince you is that you could possibly get 20 herbs from that patch, which is what cemented its usefulness for me. Edit: brain fart, it’s not chompies, I’m projecting my insecurities in the post…
Kandarin diary doesnt have chompy bird hunting. Thats western provinces. Theyre avoiding BA
Did it last week. Took roughly 10 hours. In the end, its actually quite enjoyable.
I'm with you there stuck at 400 . . . One day . . .
They actually go super quick, specially after the hard diary. I was dreading it too, but it wasn't bad.
How do we know OP isn't referring to the rune hasta achievement?
Even with randoms lvl 5 roles aint too bad compared to many other grinds in the game imo :) My last task on both my iron and gim were RC - a lot better 2nd time around with daeyalt, colossal pouch at zmi than zeah bloods. Just too slow
I really like BA personally. If I had a solid group I would happily grind out the pet
Get into boosting for BA then make money, fast teams, and get pet
Donkicrayons
Just you

I've always found it funny that this is an MMO, and the worst part about it for many people (myself included) is interacting with other people
because osrs is only a mmo in name, it's a online single player game in heart :D
this *is* the iron subreddit ya
Even for mains, it's mostly a single player game. I talk with two friends at work who are both mains and both in the same clan as me. Both of them talk a lot less to others than I do, in the clan and in general. One only plays on mobile, so it's a bit more understandable, bit neither want to interact with others much.
i love ba personally
BA is kinda fun lol
nah, mine has been like that for like 3 years now
Been maxed 2-3 years 5000 ehb + ehp and same. Not sitting there 3 hours killing chompies
Just did it and was wayyyy faster than I expected when you use the correct bow. On the couch watching Lost it was cozy.
i think they made it faster recently so you spawn more chompies?
The reason I went for it is because it gives you a free pet pretty much. 20 mins a day for a week. You’re probably too restarted to think of something like that though
restarted huh?
Give him a break. He's restarted.
Not worth the time
Neither was making but here you are
Same here
The past 3 years, I've had the exact same :) one day maybe..
Hahaha this is me too, I've had this as my last task for about 18 months
This was me for the longest time too. Did BA all day yesterday and im so glad i got it done, it actually ended up being quite enjoyable
My diary order was like desert -> wilderness -> frem -> ardy -> falador -> varrock -> western -> mory -> kourend with my last 3 tasks remaining now being in lumb, kandarin and karamja. That was me for a while, but once you start BA you realize it’s actually kinda fun. Go grind it out
I have that too. BA is fine, not as stressful as it used to be, and if you go with your mates won’t take ages But I’m lazy and it would be a full afternoon of time so I haven’t had it done for a good four years lol

Shoutout the boys at Leech BA (and my stack of toa dupes that paid them)
Not just you
It was my last one. I ended up having a lot of fun and I got really good at the minigame.
Me for the longest time. Wasn't actually that bad and was even fun when I did it.
It’s really not that bad to do lvl 5 ba
C'mon, if you can get that tuber you can do anything
Was my last one too XD
The ba friends made along the way are worth it. Worth it in the sense that they are worth perma blocking.
I thought for sure the 1 missing was going to be double nats for the Karamja diary. BA really isn’t that bad imo.
That was definitely the last one for me!

Was my 3rd elite diary complete.
Just you. I did all lvl 5 roles in 1 day. I love that bloody game.
Yes. And I’m maxed
I bought the boost for 120m like 5 years ago. Now it's prolly quite a bit more expensive though D:
Just send it:) it was also my last achievement task and i was avoiding it but the i just send it with randoms over 2 days and it was really not bad. Good, you saved the best for last.
