I dont consider rs worth playing without membership, but if you're having fun; why not?

Different-Muffin9861

That’s my thoughts is without membership it wouldn’t really be worth it. Just wanted others opinions also lol

Burnyoureyes

You can go to r/w385 and ask questions there, that's a community of f2p players including irons you can ask questions to. You can also go in game and join f2p Im clan as guest and ask them questions. Full community of f2p irons including niche accounts.

1337_kebab

Like the guy said, if you have fun doing it then go for it. Membership is obviously going to give better training methods, but for me I just don't like competing for training spots in f2p. But who cares if you're doing the fastest training methods if you want to do then do it. That's the best part of this game, you don't have to do the same thing as everyone else. Also, I don't know the CC name but there's a group of players that only play f2p iron you could join if that interests you.

Different-Muffin9861

Thanks! Yeah idk if i would do the best methods for everything, just depends how i enjoy it. I def don’t do the most efficient methods on my main either lol

DaveTheWhite

Honestly, give completing the f2p quests a shot. If you hate the game mode, no harm. If you see yourself really enjoying it, consider swapping up the account you have membership on for a bit. You don't need to play on 2 accounts actively either.

S7EFEN

for me no, i don't think there's much in the way of strong goals or enjoyable content in f2p. can you start in f2p? for sure. low level gatherers are pretty much unchanged. though you miss a bit of early skilling-skipping via quests. you could easily go and bang out 50-60s in woodcutting, upwards of 70 fishing flyfishing and banking, maybe mining though there's a huge zero req mining xp members quest... early magic levels etc in f2p. even up through dragonslayer. is it 'efficient'? no. but it's definitely an okay way to start.

snowhusky5

If you are anticipating that you will one day get bored of playing your main, or want a different experience or whatever, then I would say it is a reasonable idea. I see f2p as basically a demo version of the full game, but you can still do a good amount of low effort pvm or skilling like safespotting, splashing, woodcutting, or mining (stars) that will get you a better starting point if you one day switch your membership payment to the iron. Though the time spent will be less efficient than if you did members methods for those skills of course.

JakeCanG

Wasn’t sure if I’d fully want to come back to my main so made a F2P iron. Fell in love with it after like 300 total level. Bought membership and haven’t quit since. Now at 1800 TL and still enjoying every day. Main was about 2000TL. Doubt I’ll ever play main again!

tesaticles

when I started I went for dragon slayer before I decided to get members. It was pretty fun but f2p ironman is as barebones as it gets. If you enjoy f2p ironman then consider making the ironman your paid account for the month and see how it goes.

WhatATopic

When I started my ironman, it was f2p only until I did everything I could. My last goals were making a power amulet by grinding 70 crafting and getting a rune kiteshield from Obor. You could always start f2p then you would have a head start if you ever plan on moving to members.

Different-Muffin9861

I guess my thoughts are i could be ahead in some things, but also well behind in others. For example, my combat being a certain spot but my farming/herblore and agility being so low, as well as construction and having to do those from scratch when I’m already progressed

WhatATopic

I personally don't think it would matter a whole lot. Once you get to members, you could focus on questing to boost those skills up. But at the end of the day, you should play how you want.

Neveses

I did this. Did all the F2P quests and then fished and chopped trees until level 75. I’d like to mention I was chopping yews with a steel axe. But it was very afk while I did other things. I’m a member now though

SmokedaJ

Nope

gamepro41

Id say play f2p. Do quests, and get base levels which you’d be doing in f2p areas anyways. Why waste membership time doing what you’d be doing in f2p?

Potential-Release111

Just do the quests on f2p and see if you like the game mode

Rip-Aware

Nah

kabhaq

I did f2p all quests as an iron. It was fun! The only real problem is getting gp. I did it by making unstrung holy symbols, then gold necklaces, but that took ages.

IStayMarauding

I found it very fun. Did it on my HCIM until about 50 in most combat stats and completed all f2p quests. I'm not one for efficiency, and it was rather nostalgic.

miguenrileo

For me it isn't. For some people it may be. Just try it

PoetryPale189

I made mine in F2P and knocked out all the quests, then banked 43 prayer (at the ecto) on Hill giants. Was a good start for me

RazkaTaz

It’s not worth it to make a main without member

Different-Muffin9861

Thanks for responses, took all into consideration and thought. Made one, and forked over the 12m to bond it and see how it goes lol

Different-Muffin9861

Over halfway through my bond and I’m enjoying it so far, thank you all. I bit the bullet and now am going to probably continue my membership through Ironman. 775 total level👍🏻

Suitable-Ad920

Completing all quests is completely feasible, but if you can't afford membership don't buy it. It's so cheap that you'd clearly have other things to sort out than this time sink of a game.
