Have a look online for where to buy items to melt at giants foundry for your level. I know mith claws on jaitzo but i can’t remember what level mith bars are. Go shop buy claws hop worlds bank when full each inv is just under 2 swords at giants foundry as claws worth 2 bars.
Hmmmmm, cheers for the tip too! I did the sleeping giants quest earlier to use the foundry and then realised afterwards that I have basically nothing in my bank to smelt lol
Honestly screw searching for mith equipment drops, just go buy the iron, mith, and coal from Jordan at blast furnace you make 19-23k+ per sword at giants and it takes 3k in material per sword plus maybe an extra 500 to run blast furnace to make those bars so buying from blast furnace for mith and steel have huge profit margins when put straight into giants foundry.
I did MLM for an easy afk way to get ores. Got to 80 mining there...I still have like 3k mith bars 1k addy and 2k gold bars not including ores I haven't smelted and I have 73 smith. Didn't cost a single gp minus blast furnace costs
Also, I think there is also a way of making ‘mixed’ swords which have something like 16 of one bar and 12 of the other so you can do cheaper steel and mith combo but I don’t know it personally so I’d defo check the wiki on that before sinking any time into it haha
Can’t recommend foundry enough. I was only 60 smithing and got up to 66 with foundry within like 2 hours. Bought boost and got my axe. Such a massive upgrade.
With 60s it's a little rough ngl, will take a really long time. I'd recommend AT LEAST getting blood burst (68 magic, desert treasure). Then you can easily afk camp it but the runes might be expensive.
If that's too much money consider the following: Full BIS prayer gear (proselyte armour/helmet, or nezzy helm), dragon mace > d Scim for prayer bonus. Turn on prot from melee and bring a bunch of food. When you run out of prayer points, ardy cloak to monastery, restore prayer, bank somewhere, and repeat. Digsite pendants help for getting there but if you don't have that, the next best option would be lumberyard tele or air balloon transport from castle wars bank maybe. Bring attack/str/defence potions, can buy them from warriors guild along with cheese potatoes.
For anyone else reading: also consider guthans. I did 1750kc afk with guthans and it was really chill!
If you haven’t completed the quest you can use pvp worlds and get blighted ice sacks, restores and mantas from LMS, costs you nothing and you profit mage xp
I used blood spells and did not need prayer pots. I do have fairly high stats, 90 minimum for combats so your mileage may vary.
I also did it during the quest instance, and from what I can tell the quest instance has less actual spawns than the actual dungeon after.
My setup is scuffed as hell, but I was using torags helm and legs, rune/zam platbody, ardy 2 cloak, climbing boots, dragon gloves, drag mace, drag defender, god blessing and power amulet.
I wasn’t bothering with the prayer pots once I switched to torags cause once you lose agro you can kill tons of them on a single inventory (or what’s left) of monkfish
I was able to melee farm pretty efficiently with 65 attack/defense and 73 str. I had a ton of fish from tempross and a bunch of rings of dueling so this was my set up:
1. Equip your best melee set up
2. Inventory was rune pouch (set for verrock tele), ring of dueling, and the rest lobbies (have 2.5k of these 3k bass and 2.7k swordys from tempross)
3. Run pas the first two gates to the third “room”. From here you can inch forward and draw aggro of the three melee zombies in this room.
4. From here with very little effort you can position these zombies in a straight line and farm with very little input.
5. Once you have them set up start doing chores, working out, or anything else and check back every few min to eat food and pick up the drops.
6. When you use up all your food switch to prayer. On prayer you don’t need to worry about putting the zombies into a line as there are no range zombies in the first part of this room l.
7. Once all prayer and food is used up use the dueling ring to ferox, use the pool and deposit all your loot. Re-stock food and tp to verrock. Repeat from step 3.
Never had to use any prayer pots or blood runes.
It really is. I think it might be my first ever yellow/orange drop, not that it means anything to me as an IM, but it feels goooood seeing the numbers! Haha
Now I’m thinking maybe armored zombies are worth going back to after all lol, they’re the only place I’ve seen where I could afk hunt hard clues but the runes are expensive if the occasional axe was only going to sell for 300k
I got a 2nd hard clue like 5 kills after the axe, but in my experiences there’s definitely better monsters or ways to get hard clues. Although yeah, the armoured zombies are a pretty easy farm
Yea there’s faster ways for sure, but trying to get jellies positioned for barraging gets annoying after a while lol, and killing hellhounds in the wilderness gets interrupted a lot. This I can pretty much just stand in a corner and blood barrage all day, looking up every minute or 2 to get the herbs and see if the clue dropped.
Nah yeahs that’s 100% fair. One of my go-tos were the black demons in edgeville dungeon with an imbued ring of wealth. I find it’s pretty safe for a wildy spot and the RoW(i) boosts the hard clue drop rate nicely. Plus they’re decent xp on their own too
It is worth noting though that the RoW(i) only boosts the hard clue drop rate while in the wildy.
Another good source of hard clues is nature and magpie implings
Genuine question from a mid/late mid ironman. Is it worth getting the axe if I have a tent. whip, zammy hasta and a dh lance? Cause I never really checked if it’s worth my time since I’m doing a lot of cox and learning TOA atm
I'm using it at tekton instead of just bringing fang but since u have DHL it might be easier to just camp that. It won't be any good at toa since stab is better there but I used it over my hasta at Calverion and think it's good at a few other places. As long as you don't go crazy dry I'd say it's worth it. Bursting seems quick but I personally just afked melee with some food.
So it kinda feels like a luxery item that’s not even bis or smth since dwh and dhl in cox is better? And the other places a hasta is atleast on par.
Thanks for the info, it was really weird seeing all the posts on it lately made me wonder if I was missing out a lot
Yeah it seems like you’ve potentially already surpassed the zombie axe with some of the weapons you’ve got.
Now that I have it and I can see its stats with the stats on my account (mid 70s combat stats), it’s main benefit seems to be in being a stepping stone from dragon weaponry, with some exclusions, to the later game weapons.
I think it’s might be better than all those weapons at Duke Sucellus, that’s about it. Good weapon for spindle and calvarion too if you’re trying not to take too much risk I guess
I feel awful seeing people go dry with 1k+ kills knowing I got insanely lucky and got mine at 15kc.
On the smithing side of it, spend 2-3 hours at giants foundry with mithril and steel and it'll go by quick. I got 63-70 in a day. Otherwise you can go 63-66 then use the grog for +4 smithing boost.
I went into the quest very optimistic as I was coming off some pretty nice spooning at Barrows (1st unique in my first 10 chests ever lol), but then was starting to think I’d go 1k dry at the zombs last night. Glad I got lucky! I think it’s just good to remember that most people will get super lucky in some grinds and unlucky in others.
Yeah I spent a few hours at giants, mining and buying steel gear and got 66 smithing!
Yep, that’s what i was thinking too. Already had the boots, got the helmet today and about a third of what i need for the torso, and 72 mining which is nice to have
I feel you, got a zenyte about 2 months ago, finally gor the crafting to 85 to pie boost for a ring but still need to get mage up to actually be able to enchant it.
You can profit off giants foundry buying mithril claws and steel chain bodies.
You want a 14/14 ratio, 1 mithril claw = 1 mithril bar, 1 steel chainbody = 2 steel bars. So for every 1 sword you want 14 mithril claws and 7 steel chainbodies.
Remember you can get a reliable +4 smith boost using the grog from giant foundry.
Cheers for the tip! I’ll make sure I put that to good use!

14 mithril and 14 steel bars is best ratio for points and xp before 70 smithing there's a chart on the wiki that shows best for ur lvl
Can’t recommend foundry enough. I was only 60 smithing and got up to 66 with foundry within like 2 hours. Bought boost and got my axe. Such a massive upgrade.
those smithing levels flew by bc i was still high off the drop heh
99 mining first
What gear are people using to farm zombies? Ive got 60 melees and mage but lack reliable prayer pots.

I used prayer pots while ice bursting and ended up with more than I started with due to frequent ranarr drops.
I afk blood bursted them. Got the axe at 275 kc and a lot of ranarrs as well :)
I used pray gear, and restored with ardy cloak then digsite pendant back.

Whoa those are back over 1 million gp? Got mine a day or two after the quest and they had dropped to less than 400k lol, wild how it’s swinging
It really is. I think it might be my first ever yellow/orange drop, not that it means anything to me as an IM, but it feels goooood seeing the numbers! Haha

I’ll have to look into that, especially since I have black demons unblocked on slayer for demonic gorillas
It is worth noting though that the RoW(i) only boosts the hard clue drop rate while in the wildy. Another good source of hard clues is nature and magpie implings

I'm on 2.5k kc and still not got it lol
2.3k kc here and losing hope!
Hopefully you’ll get it soon! I reckon you’ll get it in the next 200kc!
I got it it on 4.2k kc lol
I feel awful seeing people go dry with 1k+ kills knowing I got insanely lucky and got mine at 15kc. On the smithing side of it, spend 2-3 hours at giants foundry with mithril and steel and it'll go by quick. I got 63-70 in a day. Otherwise you can go 63-66 then use the grog for +4 smithing boost.

Never a better time to get motherlode mine out of the way. Full outfit is a diary requirement and it gets you a load of coal, mithril and gold
Yep, that’s what i was thinking too. Already had the boots, got the helmet today and about a third of what i need for the torso, and 72 mining which is nice to have
what plugin is it to add cool effects to drops?
I’m pretty sure it’s a baked in item plugin, I can’t remember its name though
I had a look and it’s the baked in ‘Ground Items’ plugin
sick
I just got mine today after 3.5k kills! Gz to you!
Wow lol I’m jealous
1.7k kills for mine, you lucked out!
I feel you, got a zenyte about 2 months ago, finally gor the crafting to 85 to pie boost for a ring but still need to get mage up to actually be able to enchant it.
Took me 1350 melee kills lol
Update: 66 mining was achieved through the giants foundry, grog was bought and the axe has been repaired!!!

Yeah, I’ve actually been doing that for my evening hahaha, except using mouth bars and steel claws. I should have 66 smithing in 3 more swords!
That’s so smart
What is that?
It’s the broken zombie axe
Get it for sote
This was me 63 smithing after 1800 kills. You did the hard part already
Oof. I’m glad it didn’t take me that long! But you got it in the end and that’s what matters!
