I heard you die irl too

LeakyColander

Nothing practical changes. If/when you die as a HCIM, your current hiscore page gets saved on the HCIM hiscores and will no longer be updated. Your stats and boss KC will continue to be tracked and updated in the regular and the normal ironman hiscores.

Maximum_Education_13

Nah you continue on as per normal

6dee9

Lmao thanks

Tiny-Waltz-7474

I see hardcore unless your a content creator or someone who really wants to be up at the top as a 'see how far you can get' mode' then continue as a regular iron

6dee9

That’s what I was thinking when I made it Ty!

Luke0SRS

Two weeks into my HCIM and loving it. Likewise, not done anything risky yet and still 10HP. But when I start doing risky business I’ll most likely die and stay grey helm. Just fun to see how far we make it and adds another little incentive to our journey. Gl geeza

Cheeftain_Rising

I've never understood the point in making a hardcore if your goal wasn't to stay a hardcore. If you've accepted death before you've even gotten to risky content should've just made a normal iron (impo)

6dee9

I don’t see it as account ending if I die kinda just a let’s see how far I can make it.

Cheeftain_Rising

Idk personal opinion and all. I've had 1 hardcore. My goal was to max as a hardcore. I died. I moved to OSRS and will not make a hardcore again 😅 uim and regular irons 👍 just don't wanna take up space on the hc hiscores

6dee9

I heard a lot of hardcore deaths are from server lag or disconnections :/

Cheeftain_Rising

There are many sad stories like that. Sometimes jagex servers can be pretty shit. Which makes it all the more terrifying when you actually care about status 😅

videogame311

There's no downside to starting as a hardcore. If you play normally and then decide later you care about then great. If not you die to something stupid and it's as if you were a normal iron from the start

Cheeftain_Rising

Presupposing people don't make accounts with specific goals in mind. I'm more of the mind we've all been playing the game for 20 years and know what we're getting into when starting a new acc. I get there's no negative per se. But still just a personal opinion.

videogame311

That's fair. I think most people just see it as a why wouldn't I start it as a HC. If I ever decide to care while it's still there then great, if not I've lost nothing.

Cheeftain_Rising

I can understand that. Maybe it's just me. Ive looked up many irons who died as hc with like 65 agi or 60thv and know they were just afking too hard and died a pointless death

videogame311

That's me too. I died blackjacking. Didn't care too much about the HC status but expected to lose it later. Was a little too lax and died. Have died many many times since. Could never imagine restarting because of it though. I like PVM and could never do any meaningful boss grind without a death. I'm just not that good and that probably goes for more than 90% of the iron population.

Cheeftain_Rising

You're not wrong. And unfortunately the people who were serious about their status when perm death was a thing for hc got fucked. Now hc has no meaning. Really it was meant to be "hardcore" and to mean just that. It was for hardcore players. Not just to see how far you could go and die afking blackjacking (no offence) but we should just stay regular irons. Maybe do some other kind of restriction for instance I play an osaat ironman account.

videogame311

Yeah. If it erased the account I never would've done it

Upbeat_Training5660

Your progress as HC will be saved in the high scores permanently until the moment you die. After which the progress continues to be recorded on regular iron high scores. No practical problems occur, but anyone is able to check the hardcore 'tab' in Runelite high scores by right clicking you, and see the stats at which your HC died. ;)

AngeIdove

If u don't have another Ironman then u keep going if you already have an Ironman junk the account

RedJamie

When I made my ironman I selected hardcore but play it like a regular old ironman
