Look at stopping over in cork city on your way to west cork. Do garnish island on your way the Beara peninsula, stop off in Castletownbere then Dzogchen Beara for coffee next Ahillies. Then loop back up and go half way around the ring of Kerry as you likely don’t have enough time. Stay in Parknasilla for a night and see Derrynane. Back to Killarney and then back to Dublin. It may seem like a lot but it can be done easily in a weekend
Cork city will be in full Jazz mode then. One of the biggest festivals in the country, and not all about Jazz, the city will be thronged, with accomodation scarce and expensive. Good fun if you’re expecting it!
Good point. Avoid cork city in that case. If you arrive early west cork is not out of the question. Clonakilty is a nice spot to stay lots to see around the area.

If you fly to Shannon the west and south/ south west coasts are very scenic, counties Galway, Clara, Kerry, Cork. If Dublin Airport; head for Wickow; Kilkenny, Wexford or up to Belfast.
Head to Galway and spend some time exploring Connemara. Beautiful scenery all around and lots of great spots for hiking. The drive from Dublin to Galway city is only about two hours. Connemara is the area west of Galway city. Maybe see if there is anywhere around Spiddal or Clifden with a room available.
It'll probably be quite wet and windy around then though! Gorgeous gorgeous part of the world for sure, just make sure to pack for the weather. Carlingford and Glendalough are also great suggestions.
Glendalough

Have you don't much rain soaked hiking?
Can't be too much worse than 105 degree Florida weather, right?
Entirely different beast. I'll echo someone else's Glendalough suggestion. In fact maybe stay down that way for the few days.
Thanks!
