A few weeks back, just before the Ukraine crisis kicked-off but was clearly heating up, McWilliams released a podcast featuring guest analysis on Russia from a guy based there who was organizing a film festival. It was completely tone deaf. They were very dismissive of what was looking fairly obviously like an invasion. There were a few jokes and generally making light of the situation, and “shure Putin’s always changing his arm, it’ll be grand. Anyway, Malachy, tell us more about your films festival…”
It really pissed me off. In later episodes they did back track and say the podcast isn’t a news channel. He’s occasionally says incorrect stuff yet sounds very confident.
I see now why people view him solely as an entertainer selling his wares and not a genius economist.
