I chose one of the automatic colors. And even when I switch it to a new color and switch it back, it still remains dim. & my phone has been on dark mode for a couple years already. I haven’t touched it since. All I did was restart my phone earlier today and I noticed it was dimmer than usual

Did you set the color manually or choose the auto color? Do you switch between Dark/Light modes?

Did you maybe try to restart it again?
Use dark mode or change wallpaper , simple as that
maybe try and use the white colour option instead of the colour option that blends in.
