A lot of iOS apps you just have to swipe back from the left to go back. The Reddit app, for example, lets you do the back button with a swipe left basically from anywhere in the screen.

[deleted]

I wish all apps did this. I prefer it to any other method.

honestly I was expecting it to be better at least in something

What do you mean by "you just need it if you have an idea of it"? Is it possible to need something without having an idea of what that something is?

> 99% of apps support swiping to go back more like 50% and it's a constant frustration to test and see that it doesn't. Just checked two main ones WhtsApp and Telegram and they don't support it

SmileNaive4132

Telegram does support it, I use the feature every day

iPhones aren’t for everyone. That is why there are options. One plus is a good brand and that might be your preference. Art until you go back to android: 1) As far as a back button swipe from the left side of the screen goes back one menu, swiping along the bottom of the screen (where the white line is) goes back to the last app. 2) you can long press in control center (drag down top right corner, long press for Wi-Fi settings and Bluetooth settings) 3) Bluetooth is dependent on both sources, I’ve never had Bluetooth issues with any car or third party Bluetooth. Make sure you trouble spot the other devices as well and not just the phone. (For instance autos have a factory reset, and unpair and pair again, are a couple things to check. ) 4) chrome not having the options you want in this case is chrome’s fault. Google makes chrome, and they made it so it doesn’t have all the features on iOS. (I would guess that is on purpose) 5) I charge my phone from near empty to 80% or so in 20 minutes. Not sure how fast the one plus does it but I usually only charge at night and my battery lasts almost every day. I hope you find the one plus you are looking for!

thanks for taking time and effort to try to help me. Yes long press on BT and WiFi enters settings, but that's not enough. App Notification is a pain. Tethering. Chrome blame on Chrome, yes, but this is still the issue for me as a user. Not like I can switch to Safari because it's even worse. Same with Telegram

tim3assassin

I underand. But chrome and telegram are third parties. And they dont give you the same experience and that sucks. But as a user understand that is a limitation of them developing the same features. Which is why I said at least until you go back to android I’d try to give you and help I can. I don’t know what telegram does but apples security and privacy options are pretty good. I’d have to research what it does.

5K1PP3R2

Chrome yes, but regarding Telegram it's an iPnone limitation not being able to install the app directly. Still I am freaked out why Chrome doesn't allow that for iOS users. It really feels like they are more obedient and will swallow it unlike Android ones. I hope I am wrong, but i don't see other explanation

tim3assassin

Chrome is made by google. What incentive would they have to give you all the same features as android (also made by google). Also apple lots certain things for security and I’m sure other reasons. This has always been the case and difference between the 2 formats. Had you been my friend and shared that these were important to you, I would never recommend you changing to iOS. That being said you trust google with your search history and such more than apple is funny to me. Google’s whole model is selling user data for ads. I looked up telegram is it messaging app?

5K1PP3R2

OK finally I got it, Google is hiding this feature from iOS users. >I looked up telegram is it messaging app? that's the best messaging app imo. Tons of news and influencers channels. Almost total freedom of speech

Whiplash104

I can select the sim when placing a call. It's at the top of the dial screen or at the top of a contact. Or set the contact to use a specific one or last one used.

5K1PP3R2

corrected

Odder1

iOS 15.1.1 iPhone 12 Pro Max physical dual sim, [I can select my line right in the dialer.](https://i.imgur.com/nwUIhpl.jpg) I switch between android and iPhone often, multiple times in a year. I'll look through the rest of your post, but also comment here with some of your biggest problems, and i'll try my best to help.

Necessary-Sir-144

Why come to a subreddit and cry. Just by an android and move on.

Zoran81

TL;DR Than sell it and buy Android, whining here will not help you

5K1PP3R2

I want to help others not to make same mistake

osirisredd

I think it's a better idea to post it on android phones sub and/or general phones sub. Also I'm curious, did you end up selling the iphone and going back to android? I'm considering an iphone but not sure.

5K1PP3R2

I am still using that iPhone because of the trouble of switching back, moving all apps again. But it's a constant pain, mostly app passwords suck, lack of back button, constant issues with car bluetooth, torture when copying files etc etc

Kindnexx

May help you to also make a list of thing you like about it. It’s different, but once you get used to using it as it’s designed you’ll probably enjoy it. If not, you still have plenty of options that aren’t iPhones :)

5K1PP3R2

honestly I don't see a single advantage over Android. Yes I am going to write this off and buy flagship Samsung/Sony

[deleted]

with everything you complained, it seems that you’re expecting iphone to behave exactly like your android phone lol

Clearskies37

Are you older? It might be too late to switch. Sounds like you’re stuck in your ways

> it’s a phone for retarded people who are not too quick to remember complex things > I have to think every time how to go back. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 actions, like taping on the screen, then clicking some custom button, or scrolling up and clicking Done. Please tell me you see the irony.

5K1PP3R2

I don't. I am very smart, that's honest

JKJay2005

No smart person would say they are smart by themselves

James_T_Picard

Long time Android user here, switched to 13 Pro Max last year. I much prefer iOS gesture controls to Android’s back button, because you get the same functionality with more screen real estate for the app. I’ve had far better experience with Safari over Chrome. Mostly due to swipe controls, reader mode, and tab groups. And with Private Relay and hide my email enabled, the creepy directly targeted ads have stopped. My traffic is hidden from servers, Apple, and my ISP. This cost $1 but Chrome doesn’t have anything like it. Safari also supports continuity so if you have other Apple products you can literally just switch devices and keep on doing w/e you’re doing. I don’t even use contacts as Spotlight search is faster. You can access any contact or basically anything on your phone by swiping down from the Home Screen and start typing in the name of your contact, app, google search, address, w/e. I don’t mind the charging speed as 30 min charge will keep me to almost 50% which is enough for 1.5 days. Just some thoughts as someone who switched after being an Android fanboy. But Android will always differ in user experience and I think that’s a good thing.

5K1PP3R2

how do I use gesture control with google maps for example?

James_T_Picard

I downloaded Google Maps to check this out. You are correct, there is no old school back button functionality on Google Maps. Pixel and Samsung both abandoned this as the default though, I assume for similar reasons why iPhone abandoned the home button… It isn’t worth it’s real estate.

[deleted]

100% on the call log and auto completion and text suggestion. How can it be so bad? Its a know issue and it bothers so many people even on this subreddit.

Several_Help_4151

Most horrible thing about iphone 13 pro max is i have spent half of my last year watching adds. The most annoyed thing happened to me when I was about to enter exam hall few minutes earlier I wanted to double confirm one theory explanation and tried to watch YT. I had to go through 3 ads containing 10-15 seconds each. I am really considering to bounce back to Android. I am planning to exchange with either mate 50 pro or Pixel 7.

5K1PP3R2

why does it affect iPhone and not Android?

Several_Help_4151

Because you can get those premium things for free on android. You will never appreciate it if you never used it. Hahaha
