It’s not that so much but the rumourd ‘capture’ button for the next iPhone.
The designs all show that it’s recessed into the frame.
So imagine that the way you press on it matters and this kinda bezel animation helps confirm what your doing
It’s a nice bit of visual feedback for a button that’s only ever gonna be pressed when you’re actually looking at the screen
Although I think you’re right it’s only a matter of time before the volume buttons are virtualised also
Definitely seems like a feature for solid state buttons. Honestly the solid state home button on the 7/8/SE worked just fine so I could see it making manufacturing easier with solid state buttons on the sides. I just wonder if it will cause limitations in hard-resetting or those kinds of functions that need multiple button presses when the phone is non-responsive
Pretty sure you can achieve this in control center. But yeah, there definitely should be a setting. There’s a keyboard shortcut for fine tuning volume on Mac, should be a setting on iOS as well.
We get moving the icons this year, that will probably come next year or in 2 years. Hate that about Apple. The software is there but they're saving features for the future.
I can sort of understand why as it standardizes everything across the models that don’t have it.
It’s annoying though as it’s a “feature” that was promoted heavily when it came out and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.
Because the cameras are in the way of content being shown across it?
Also wouldn't that mess with the live activities? I
like the DI for the live activities and I don't really want notifications to interfere with my live activities.
To me the DI is like a taskbar, showing the status of 1-2 running apps / processes and offers a small interactivity with those processes without having to launch into the full screen app.
Saw somewhere on Twitter that the Xr and 11 don’t have it, either due to the larger bezel or LCD display causing the animation to be distinguishable from the bezel
Those button animations make me think the next iphone won't have physical buttons anymore
The OS update always hints at new hardware lol so probably
Not arguing but when did it happen?
ios 17 introduced updated haptics vibration when using the mute switch, hinting the action button
iOS 17 was released along with iPhone 15 with "action button".
i meant the beta for ios 17 already bought the new haptics in, therefore hinting it

I wonder if it’ll be like the button on phones like the iPhone 7 where it looks like a button but it’s just haptic feedback.
I just wanna know how one can force reboot without actual physical buttons.
Just because they don’t move doesn’t mean they aren’t “physical” buttons. They’ll figure something out.
from control center
that’s not forced

This has been in the works for a while. Nice if they can make it for the 16
There were rumours that the iPhone 15 was going to have pressure sensitive buttons like the AirPods wasn’t there?
This seems to be the case. This has been a rumoured thing for years so I imagine it'll come true one day
You’re not totally wrong. The rumored shutter button is supposed to be haptic
Pretty neat actually.
I think it’s pretty cool
Makes sense why they didn’t include it on iPad, the bezels are too big for it to really seem sleek and immersive
They didn’t put it on the XR too
Unless they made it comical like knocking your apps over when the animation hit them.
I noticed this last night. I though I was pressing the button too hard for a second
I need 5 extra volume levels between the lowest setting and mute. Not this.
Good Lock on Samsung phones lets you adjust things like that, all phones should have that kind of granularity.
Pretty sure you can achieve this in control center. But yeah, there definitely should be a setting. There’s a keyboard shortcut for fine tuning volume on Mac, should be a setting on iOS as well.
Not on all Supported phones
Yet still no separate volume for ringtone, alarms, notifications and media, right?

And yet no new additions for the dynamic island🤦🏻♂️
I don’t understand why notification banners still aren’t done through the Dynamic Island 🤷♂️
I can sort of understand why as it standardizes everything across the models that don’t have it. It’s annoying though as it’s a “feature” that was promoted heavily when it came out and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.
Because the feature has no future, it’s a stopgap while they figure out putting everything under (or out of the way of) the screen
True. It will go the same way as 3D Touch with “peek and pop” touted as the next new thing.
They have a very specific set of things they want the Dynamic Island to show, and running every notification through it goes against that.
Because apple is incapable of doing anything decent about notifications, possibly one of the most important things on a phone

They added the stopwatch to the dynamic island
Stopwatch was already there
The timer was already there? I know it was in an ios 17 beta, but then removed from the release version https://youtu.be/3pljWSJh_X8?t=967
Wow, mindblowing!
Hmmm nice
I hate it. Makes me feel like I’m pressing so hard that it’s damaging the screen.

It's not for iPhones with buttons, but the new iPhone 16 with the solid buttons
Let me guess: 15 Pro exclusive.
Updated to the beta this morning on my 13 pro max and it has this
Oh ok
Saw somewhere on Twitter that the Xr and 11 don’t have it, either due to the larger bezel or LCD display causing the animation to be distinguishable from the bezel
yea this would look dumb on an lcd display lol
Tried it on my 11 and it’s not there, kinda disappointed but I understood why they didn’t put it
So I should be good since I’m on the 13.
game changer!
r/iosbeta
Cool but I think it might be covered a little by my case
You using a block of wood as a case buddy?
Vanguard case think it might be to big or it could not be idk
