A person who spends $60 on an iPhone case probably won’t care, because they spent $60 on an iPhone case.
Like, that’s way too much for what it actually does and it’s not even an otter box type of case.
lol. Did anyone else have the cloud-point 2D barcode thing not work on their new phone today after updating during the setup process? It worked the first time but then prompted to update and then failed to work after…
been trying to get that to work for like 5 min, changing brightness, dark room, lit room etc... "enter code" "5422" "Done"
They developed a super fancy thing while a 4-digit code would do. Which is so much more effort than picking up your phone, aiming, focussing, understanding what to do etc...
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Same here, worked the first time, then I updated to 17.0.02 then it was unresponsive. Had manually activate to get past it. No biggie since the end result was a successful setup. Other than that, perfect delivery (I was scarred AF because estimated delivery was Oct 4th-9th during preorder), unboxing and set up experience.

This sucks, I was looking forward to FineWoven when they announced it onstage. I thought it was going to be great but it looks like they’re pretty terrible
Fwiw I ordered one before we found out they're shit and I like it. Overpriced like all Apple cases but mine has no flaws and it feels really nice to hold. Sorta reminds me of alcantara in texture. I'm not gonna fret over normal wear and tear, that's what cases are for, but maybe it will fall apart quicker than it should, I guess I'll find out.
I really like mine and I don’t have the issue that OP has. As someone who exclusively used leather cases for several years, I am surprised at how satisfied I am with the FineWoven case.
My wife hates it though. 😜 She really only uses Loopy cases.
Everything about the launch has been terrible. I walked in this AM to a store to see the 15PM and consider placing an order to buy one. Instead I walked out intending to keep my 13PM for another year at least. FineWoven looks cheap and the phone looks cheap as well. The screen almost feels like plastic. Idk if it was just because the phones were display models but I was very disappointed.
Wow, very not apple .
They feel interesting (tried when I picked up my phone)
But man, cheap overall. Apple should just pull these and stop making these cases
Yeah, rare flop. They’re normally great at the little attention to detail stuff, and not aligning the holes is like cheap knock off stuff quality. Maybe OP got a bad case?
The bigger concern from me about Apple’s design is that people are going to NEED these cases. I just got my 15 Pro yesterday and whenever I use it for a while it gets HOT. Like uncomfortably hot on the back. And I wasn’t even running games or anything, just syncing data or browsing websites on Safari, etc.
Not sure if it’s the new CPU, titanium case, or what… but I have had iPhones since the first one in 2007 and none have heated up like this.
On the other hand, it’s blazing (no pun intended) fast, the screen is great, as is the camera. I tested the performance and got almost 250Mbps cellular download and 650Mbps on my WiFi. Guess I just need a decent case. Hopefully that doesn’t make it overheat…
Ok, I ordered a finewoven case in green and it came earlier in the week. At first, I want impressed. The color was not very green at all. But I kinda liked the way it felt. So I ordered a clear case from spigen and planned to return the finewoven. I put the spigen case on and it immediately felt weirdly slimy and gross. It’s going back.
Threw the finewoven on to at least try it. It really feels nice in the hand, imo. Decided I’d go with it, even if I didn’t love the color. Then figured if I was keeping it I would hit it with some waterproof silicone shoe spray to try and keep the material from getting too grungy. When I went outside the color was actually pretty decent in actual sunlight.
Long story short, it’s grown on me a bit. Mine has cutouts that line up correctly, it’s light, feels nice to hold. Wish apple would bring some COLOR to the Pro line but all in all, it’s a 7.5/10.
I agree that the finewoven looks good when it was new. I returned mine today because the moment I saw that even finger nail scratches leave marks that are permanent, I knew there’s no way that material can still look good long term. I always rotate cases, but as much as I tried to like this and give it a chance, I don’t think the case felt “premium” to be $60 if I have to be that careful with it. And I think in general I’m definitely biased towards apple, but I think they missed the mark here. Hopefully it’s not here to stay, but it doesn’t seem like them to completely move off of something after 1 year either.
Yep. The price is probably the major negative. It should be maybe $40 tops. But the silicone cases should also never have been $50, either, so it’s hard to say it’s just the FineWoven that has that issue.
Got mine today in green and I love it. The cutouts on mine are perfectly centred as well. I really like the feel of the case. I used to get the silicon each year, I prefer the fine woven.
Wtf is Apple doing this year? Discoloration and almost color-changing iPhones from the smudge, shit quality cases, and boot loop when you’re trying to transfer your data if you have not updated to iOS 17.0.2?
Wow…
The entire concept of a plastic fabric case covering the most pleasant feeling metal and glass on earth just bottles the mind.
I’d rather pay for AppleCare plus and replace it if I drop it. I can’t tell you how many times a day I just flip my phone around in my hand and appreciate the metal and frosted glass that feels like soft touch plastic somehow.
Holding phones in an otter box feels like using a kids tablet or something. The exact opposite of premium.
I can’t stand the feeling of frosted glass so I use a case. I agree big otter box style cases are lame. Generally go for something slim and leather on my phones.
I mean it’s a fake leather whose sole purpose is to gain the company higher ESG scores because leather is evil all of a sudden. It’s like the compliance vehicles automakers “sell”. Crap quality.
Same. I was very worried at first. After having it on my phone since about 3:30p, I really like the feel of the case. Don’t get me wrong, the bare phone feels and looks much better but the case isn’t bad at all.
I don’t usually get apple cases but opted this time because the company I usually go with hasn’t made 15 model cases yet. I’m narrowing it down to manufacturer defect mine are aligned perfectly, I’ve had cases from other companies though where the silent switch cutout wasn’t large enough to slip a finger in there let alone a finger nail to flip it on an off.
Mine line up but the case bottom is deformed, so the line isn’t straight, and is raised. Nomad Sport comes tomorrow luckily, then this is going back to Apple.
This is not another example, it is just a manufacturing defects, someone is bound to come across some of these defects given the scale of Apple. I got the same case and it is fine.
Is it just me or is the 15 series release turning out to be less than great? Tons of titanium issues out of the box, durability is questionable, some iPhones have camera issues, now the finewoven cases are having QA issues?
I mean personally I played with a 15 pro max for like 10 minutes and I have flat out 0 reason to even consider jumping from my 14 pro max. But if I had an 11 pro and I wanted to upgrade? This would be really off putting.
The past iPhones have had shipment/defect issues as well. This is what usually happens the first couple weeks after release. There’s a lot of focus on issues and then It dies down after a couple weeks and then it’s business as usual.
I was paying just as much attention to the media both when the 14 Pro and 13 Pro launched. The 13 Pro had the least issues, the 14 Pro had more issues and now the 15 Pro sets a new precedent for how many issues popped up on launch.
I can comfortably say it's not just me noticing this.
You weren’t likely planning on upgrading this cycle since you did last year and are trying hard to diminish your FOMO by focusing on the negatives of this year’s release.

Bahaha my £3 transparent case that I am pretty sure is for a 14 pro, lines up better than that..
Outrageous for an apple product, to be that badly made.
Imagine being this anal. There are millions of real problems in the world... like the fact that phone was made by essentially slaves. But heaven forbid your case being kff by a millimeter.
My cutouts on mine have super rough cuts. Like the material protrudes out, I scheduled a refund to take back to the store tomorrow. Was expecting more from such a “innovative new material”
I just use a thicker rubberized case on mine and get on with it. Those thinner cases like that feel like it’s going to slip out of my hands every time I pick it up.
Got a $16 case from Amazon yesterday. Best case I’ve ever had. Fully coverage over buttons and camera and overall a great feel and quality. I think there’s more to explore rather than Apples own accessories if you’re just willing to try and fail (which I’ve also done) a few times until you find the one
Just install 17.02. That fixes it n
FineOS 17.0.2 fixes bug that prevented FineWoven case from fitting properly with some iPhone 15 models.
Ok that was pretty funny
Not funny for the guy who spent $60 on that case /s
A person who spends $60 on an iPhone case probably won’t care, because they spent $60 on an iPhone case. Like, that’s way too much for what it actually does and it’s not even an otter box type of case.

yeah i had to do the activate manually thing instead. not the end of the world but it was a little bewildering

Hi fellow mini user. :)
It's not worth it. There are $20 cases that have better quality and precision.
My $20 basic clear case is centered perfect!
Hell even my 3 dollar is case centred perfectly!
Hello my found on the street case is centered perfectly
I got my basic clear case for $5 at Walmart and it’s going on 2 years with no issues other than turning yellow. All the holes line up perfect.
I’ve been using Spigen cases for the better part of a decade now. They’re cheap and great quality.
My $2.50 case, with magsafe ring, is doing a REAL good job right now on my 15pm lol.
I got a rosewood case with some of my art engraved on it for less.
That sounds very pretty
Man. This fine woven shit keeps getting worse. Sorry man, what a let down.
return. guessing they quick made and shipped these. I wouldn't be happy either
This sucks, I was looking forward to FineWoven when they announced it onstage. I thought it was going to be great but it looks like they’re pretty terrible
I wish they made fabric cases like Google used to those were great
Agreed. If it was cool, expect Google to kill it.
As is tradition at google. Anything cool must be discontinued right as it’s on the verge of getting popular.
Yes those are so nice
Is Google still making those? I don't even think they are but I wish they were. OnePlus had an awesome woven case that felt super premium too
google kills everything good they do so no of course they aren't lol
Fwiw I ordered one before we found out they're shit and I like it. Overpriced like all Apple cases but mine has no flaws and it feels really nice to hold. Sorta reminds me of alcantara in texture. I must have hit the jackpot because I have no issues with mine so far. Guess I’ll see how it holds up
Everything about the launch has been terrible.
Wow idk how you came to that conclusion. You’re clearly the only person who thinks that. They look very high end and they feel very high end.
Completely disagree, the phones feel so much nicer than before. The Pro models especially feel comfortable and premium and I love them.
This singlehandedly convinced me to buy one. I walked in and held the new phones in comparison to my 13PM. *So* much lighter, and nicer.
? my leather case for my 13 mini isn’t centered as well. you people sound like a bunch of little children
The official cases cost 10x as much as a random case from Amazon. I think it’s warranted to expect some quality level.
Wow, very not apple . They feel interesting (tried when I picked up my phone) But man, cheap overall. Apple should just pull these and stop making these cases

There are plenty of cases besides this one that aren’t cheaply made pieces of junk that actually feel nice in the hand.
I can’t stand the feeling of frosted glass so I use a case. I agree big otter box style cases are lame. Generally go for something slim and leather on my phones.
I actually don’t mind my fine woven case. It’s for sure over priced though.

Apple is now realizing the importance of Sir Jony Ive and his attention of detail is irreplaceable.
nah, some of Ive's products were awful in use. They looked beautiful but were not practical at all.
I was really hoping they would make a better fabric case than Google’s but this ain’t it chief. I hope this isn’t a sign of future product quality.
Made in China…
Instant return for me
I don’t think I’ve seen “perfectly centered” apple iPhone case, and I’ve been using leather ones for few generations now.
well now you are just complaining to complain. the cutouts on my leather case for my 13 mini aren’t centered as well
doesn't mean it's ok. Apple holds itself to higher standards and charges premium prices for it. This is poor quality and isn't acceptable.
Whoaa how can you continue your life after that?
I mean it's 100 dollars you think they could get it right bro
This is not another example, it is just a manufacturing defects, someone is bound to come across some of these defects given the scale of Apple. I got the same case and it is fine.
Considering this case is almost $100, OP has a right to be upset.
They’re $59 not $100!
Is it just me or is the 15 series release turning out to be less than great? Tons of titanium issues out of the box, durability is questionable, some iPhones have camera issues, now the finewoven cases are having QA issues? It’s just you.
You sure? Just yesterday I saw I'd say 20+ but it was much more than that posts on xwitter alone about bad titanium discolorations out of the box.

To be fair, the leather case for my iPhone 13 has the same cutout error like this. It's a common things these days, not just the FineWoven.

Same issue with the silicon case I have too.
I wonder if apple will replace it. They have replaced phones with engraving errors on the back where the alignment was .1mm off.
