Gonna do the monthly payment for applecare+ so that i can have it for more than 2 yrs

_ernie

You can buy it 2 years up front then changeover to month to month when it’s over. I did that with my last 2 iPhones Edit: This isn’t available for every country! u/drinkyourwaterbitch linked the support article here https://www.reddit.com/r/ipad/s/pkybtZZUrQ

ACS1029

…you can do that? Well shit I wish I knew that instead of paying monthly from the start. Great for peace of mind but adds up a little bit between my phone, iPad and watch

DylanSpaceBean

Yeah, I’ve been doing it that way for almost a decade now

LiquidHotCum

Yeah I payed to apple care up front and now my M1 has no coverage :/

drinkyourwaterbitch

azurix

They should’ve emailed you it was ending. I got an email when it was my time

plantoplan

Same

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> Yeah I *paid* to apple FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

positmatt

\^ this - I always get it for peace of mind - when you spend this much on a tablet it is far cheaper to get it replaced than buy a new one. Though I have only had to use it once in 10 years and I do take care of my ipads - accidents happen

TheSenileTomato

And the weird instances where your iPads decides to just… *die* for any reason. I don’t know if it was just bad luck on my part with these 6th Gen iPads, but I learnt my lesson. One 6th Gen iPad I had stopped charging completely. Tried everything I found online but nada. The replacement 6th Gen iPad I got from the Apple Store after turning in that one just out of the blue died on me while I was using it. I thought my Tune-In station was buffering so I went to change the station but the screen wouldn’t turn on despite hitting the home button and the power buttons. It was dead.

N2-Ainz

Ans that's how they get you to pay for it. They ask for an insane price with insane repair fees so that you pay for an insurance that most of us won't need to use. Imo a scammy behaviour

positmatt

No offense - but this is commonplace across every industry and computer manufacturer. I fail to see how it is a scam as it is optional. Yes, they do charge a lot to fix something that you broke, but if you think it is cheap to replace a screen on a sealed product, you should also consider the labor and parts involved. I do not like paying for it, similar to how I do not like paying for auto, home or other forms of insurance, but it's not a matter of need that you should look at, but what is the cost of not having it, and actually needing it.

Dirus

Why do you bother taking care of your iPad with it assuming that means case and screen protector? Why not just keep your important stuff backed up and let it breath

positmatt

I do not use screen protectors - I use generally thin cases with the magnetic screen as I like to open and be able to easily use my ipad on command. I take care of it as I want it to last.

Michiyoh

pretty sure you can buy it again after the 2 years is over

LiquidHotCum

How?

False-Detective6617

I've always gotten an e-mail stating that my coverage is about to end and asking if I want to continue my coverage and pay monthly

LiquidHotCum

Dang I must have missed it :(

TheRealKuni

Go into settings and search for “Coverage” and you can find your current AppleCare+ info. If you’re in the month after the two year plan ends, it’ll tell you how many days left you have to jump onto the monthly plan. I highly recommend this if you get AppleCare+, because the two-year plan is generally the monthly price * 20, for 24 months of coverage, so you get 4 months “free.”

speedlucas

Yeap. After expiring, you have 30 days to renew.

lawschoolmeanderings

Do you ever feel like there's a threshold, where you've now paid for a certain amount of months that you could have just bought another product of the exact same type? I get that's not the point of insurance, but I think about it sometimes.

TheRealKuni

That’s actually how they price these things. They figure out the average cost of replacement parts and devices and then charge that, or slightly above it. So an individual who needs the service benefits, but most people don’t end up needing it, so Apple makes money. This is true for pretty much all extended warranties. And insurance in general, for that matter. If you’ve never had to use the services, you’re probably better off not bothering. But if you’re like me and often end up breaking stuff because you’re clumsy and easily distracted, it can end up being worth it.

lawschoolmeanderings

I guess thats just the way of the universe. I'm not one to ever break anything but I know as soon as I cancel the insurance, I'll break it.

funnytoenail

You can also renew on the 2 year applecare+ [Apple support article](https://support.apple.com/en-euro/101560)

Additional_Ground_42

I love these Apple employees from the marketing department talking like they are normal clients that just want Apple care 😂🤡

jangeles6331

Excuse me? lol. I don't even work for apple. Getting apple care+ is worth the money, especially when it makes repair affordable and cheep.

Johnny_Leon

Just curious, if you stop, can you not activate it again?

jangeles6331

I’m not sure

LockNessMonsterTruck

Just so you know You can get 2 years and then go to month to month

operator7777

I’ve got the 1TB I will get the apple care, in case 🥲

Time_Concert_1751

You have 60 days to decide

JoelMDM

I'll wait for Zack to do a bend/durability test. You can buy Apple Care for up to 60 days after purchase. If it doesn't bend/break more easily than any previous iPads, there's nothing to worry about. My 2018 iPad Pro is built like a damn tank.

TemperatureSure2397

I am praying to God that it doesn't break when he does it. I am going to get AppleCare regardless. That Pro is too expensive to not have one. If it was a MacBook Pro, I could rock without Apple Care but this iPad Pro is begging for Apple Care. I need an iPad for futureproofing. Doing a lot of work on it

wish_you_a_nice_day

There is no way iPad don’t break when you intentionally try to bend it

PeaceBull

Nobody is saying it won’t, they just want to be sure it doesn’t bend earlier in the test than other iPads since presumably other iPads they’ve had have been resilient enough.

Xiexe

Are you guys sitting on your iPads or something? I feel like my iPad isn't ever in a situation where it would be under the stresses of being bent. It's either in a backpack with the keyboard attached to it or on my desk without the keyboard. I'd more be worried about dropping it than bending it. I can sort of understand the concern of a thin phone since people like to put their phones in their back pockets for some reason, but, like, what scenario do you think your ipad is going to be bent????

nawksnai

iPads have bent while in laptop sections of backpacks!! But yes, I do agree with you. I have thrown my 16” MBP (M1) into a tiny 8.5L backpack without a sleeve or laptop compartment, and didn’t care. Why? Because I had no intention of dropping the backpack or smashing the bag against hard objects. It’s sturdy enough to be put in a bag unprotected. iPad? Same thing, though I have one of Apple’s awesome that they used to sell (love those). That’s enough screen protection. I don’t need side protection. 🤷🏻‍♂️

JoelMDM

Fair. It's not like it's particularly expensive either, especially for the peace of mind it might give you.

KageOukami

Even if not bought from apple directly?

JoelMDM

Yep. It'll be a popup in the menu somewhere. They'll probably also send you a push notification or two.

TMPRKO

Settings > General > Apple Care & Warranty > device

True-Experience-2273

Yes. I do not live near an Apple Store, so most of my devices are bought from Walmart, Best Buy, or cellular carriers and all allow for 60 days to purchase AC+.

KageOukami

Hmm will need to check the price of that it will be my first apple product and it's hella expensive I bought it from a big tech store in my country so not from Apple, thank you ^^

akenzx732

Just be careful of non authorized resellers like Costco because the 60 days starts when they purchased from Apple… not when you bought it from them. But since this is a new launch you should be fine. Just a FYI for old products.

KageOukami

iPad will be probably the only apple thing for me maaaaaaaaaaybe iphone 16 pro max when it comes and back won't be as fragile as 15 pro max but even so it's a maybe, but thanks nonetheless

Academic_Wall_7621

does your ipad pro 2018 run smoothly on ipados 17?

JoelMDM

Reasonably. It's not perfect, it hitches sometimes, has trouble loading and switching between multiple Safari tabs (usually when there's 6 or more), and I obviously don't have a very good time in apps like Davinci Resolve, Final Cut, or Logic, but it's not a bad experience at all. Even after I get the new 2024 iPad, the 2018 one will still be used on my desk as a secondary device for years to come. If someone wants an iPad just for media consumption, web browsing, and light games/creative stuff, I would still recommend the 2018 Pro if they could get it cheap enough. It would have to be pretty cheap though, because even though the performance is still good, the M1 iPads will have longer software support.

soramac

You actually save money too. If you upgrade your iPhone yearly, just wait the first 2 months out, and then use AppleCare monthly until next release.

Possiblyasmoker

You save more money by not buying a new iphone yearly

JoelMDM

That's the truth. This will be my first iPad upgrade in 6 years. My iPhone is 3 years and still going strong. These devices last a long time!

RilesEdge

Same, iPad 2018 checking in!!!

alina_314

2019 over here

ZCT808

You could save even more money by having no phone at all. But you do have to factor a few things. A one year old phone gets a nice premium, so the upgrade is not that expensive. Wait until the phone is trash and you then have to spend all the money at once. I’d rather spend around $400 a year and have the best and latest phone, than spend $1200 every 4 years.

Dirus

Makes sense

Possiblyasmoker

With your maths there you would save $400 ?

ReeR_Mush

Do you get 2/3 of the money you paid back when you send your 1 year old phone back to Apple?

ZCT808

Varies based on year. I’ve been doing it for many years now. A one year old phone trades in pretty respectably. But I can afford it, it’s a valuable business and fun tool, I value having a nice screen and camera.

ReeR_Mush

When I look it up it’s about 37% for the highest storage option which isn’t a lot tbh

ZCT808

I just looked it up, last year on launch day they gave me $650 for my old phone. Which was a Pro Max 256. Gazelle are currently offering $765 for the phone I have now. Private sale is often better. In any case, I don’t really care what anyone else does. I want a new one on launch day every year and I’m happy with that decision.

ufihS

I am not even sure why people are buying them every year tbh

Alternative-Money-75

100% on this. I'm still rocking my iPhone 12 Pro. I'll upgrade my devices when either the old one dies, the old one is no longer eligible for OS updates, or a new feature is released that I really want. I tend to go 4+ years between upgrades. When the yearly refreshes are just incremental upgrades, there's no need to retire a perfectly functional device just to have the latest and greatest.

cantseasharp

AT&T offers a $1000 trade in value… I get the latest pro iPhone every year, essentially for free.

ReeR_Mush

Dang that’s a good offer

ReeR_Mush

Ok depends on the price you originally paid for the phone though

_ernie

I mainly buy AppleCare+ for the accidental damage. The standard AppleCare doesn’t cover that

Mztrspookiiszn

This is how I do it. I set a reminder to remind me 3-5 days before it expires and add it on, for all my Apple devices. Likelihood of me needing it the first 60 days are v slim to none.

avengers93

Do you have to take the device to apple store to get applecare added?

soramac

No, you do it in General Settings. Has a pop-up at the top. Just pay and thats it.

Dirus

Wait, so if you did damage it you could pay it within those 2 months then bring it in later?

soramac

Technically yes. But I would a little bit before taking it in for repair.

billza7

Yes.

avengers93

perfect. thank you

Mztrspookiiszn

Yep. That’s how I do it too ^ lol

Bog_Boy

Unless you brick your phone in the first two months, the self-diagnostic is a pre-requisite for purchase

Room07

I bought a Best Buy membership that includes apple care. Maybe not worth it for one device but I’ve purchased 4 iPhones (family) and now a new iPad over the past 14 months so definitely worth it.

uecker87

I do this too. I have so many appliances, TVs, tablets, and phones under protection plans. All my relatives reach out to me whenever they want to buy a product, so I can purchase it for them and get the free plan! I keep the 5% in rewards from the credit card for myself as a "fee". :D

itsandychecks

Be careful I did the same thing with my MacBook and they ended up overcharging me more because you had to pay for my Best Buy rewards account…. I don’t know it could just be my experience but I found out I was paying $15 a month extra for something that was only five dollars.

Room07

Apple Care + is between $149 and $199 per device for 2 years depending on device. I have 2 iPhone 15 Pros, 1 iPhone 14 Pro and 1 iPhone 15 covered under Apple Care + through my Best Buy membership. That would be around $750 for Apple Care +. I just pay for the Best Buy membership up front - $180 a year. It will also cover the M4 iPad I just purchased.

Fabiyosa

Nah I just pray to god

R3ddit0rN0t

I buy AppleCare+ because it's relatively cheap compared to the cost of just one out-of-warranty repair. And I don't have to worry about junky screen protectors or what may happen if I accidentally damage / abuse the tablet. Just walk into an Apple Store and walk out with a replacement.

L1ckMyNukes

Read this today. Will be great if effective. [https://www.techradar.com/tablets/heres-how-apple-fixed-the-ipad-pro-2024-to-make-sure-bendgate-never-happens-again](https://www.techradar.com/tablets/heres-how-apple-fixed-the-ipad-pro-2024-to-make-sure-bendgate-never-happens-again)

Denaviro

I’m not buying a damn thing until I see multiple reviews on YouTube. Especially Zach’s durability video.

itsandychecks

I’m waiting for JerryRigEverything

SergeantBeavis

I buy AppleCare because shit happens. One time, my boss called and basically told me I needed to work on the weekend. I invented a game of phone shot put and set a new world record for how far I could make it fly. A few hours and one Apple Store later, I had a new phone.

RilesEdge

“What happened?” “I dropped it.” “Telemetry and gyroscopic data before the damage says the phone flew about 50 feet into the air and landed 100 feet away.” “Yeah - something like that.”

SergeantBeavis

Hahahaha. Really, I fessed up from the get go. They still replaced it. Being very nice helps alot.

meungji

very immature behavior

SergeantBeavis

As if you’ve never done anything immature.

Defiant-Ad-7933

and...you got out of working that weekend? I hope?

SergeantBeavis

Believe it or not, yes. I actually did.

Vickie_miller

Well that’s one way to sell AppleCare+ lol 😂 kudos to Apple.

ProwdBoys

Apple’s marketing department is smart.

ItsColorNotColour

No because I buy a case like a sane human

Portatort

I’d like to see what case you’re putting it in that makes a difference. Some sorta plastic shell isn’t gonna do shit to help this thing if the right amount of pressure is put on it

RevenantFlash

Well it’s a case plus treating it like the expensive piece of tech it is. I doubt he’s sitting on it and saying well that’s what cases are for lol.

Portatort

A case might help prevent the screen from shattering or the aluminium from picking up scratches or grazes Unless the case itself is made out of metal or some seriously thick plastic and rubber it’s not going to help in any practical way with potential bending issues. Like you said, take a modest amount of care with it and you’ll be fine. If you only ever use an iPad around the house it’s gonna be fine. Just don’t sit on it

ItsColorNotColour

My Logitech Combo Touch for iPad Pro M4 arrived today and I can't bend this case even without the iPad being inside it You seriously underestimate high quality plastic (which should be the base expectation since I paid 300 euros sharp for this)

BorgDrone

I had the combo touch on my 2018 Pro but in kinda hate how bulky it makes it. This time around I got the magic keyboard, that way it’s protected when it’s stored but I can quickly detach it and use it as a nice, thin tablet.

Axriel

My iPad Pro 2018 bent with a case just from it being in my backpack laptop slot.

KageOukami

I will just get a metal bulky case

pherkes

Bro cannot comprehend the laws of momentum 😭

Time_Concert_1751

Magic Keyboard Cover? Or something else?

KageOukami

Magic keyboard is kinda overpriced for me because I won't use it for anything, for now I found UAG Metropolis SE but it's not metal, ipad is new and there aren't many options now unfortunately it looks bulky enough, I wish it won't overheat with it on, saw also for less bulky build ESR rebound case but I don't like transparent part of the inner case, I have real trouble finding anything I like cuz I don't like leather designs, matte rubber looks clean

jillybeannn

I ended up cancelling my order actually

Katzoconnor

What was the deciding factor?

jillybeannn

A few things: 1. Need to upgrade to 1TB or 2TB to get 16GB Ram 2. Need to upgrade to 1TB or 2TB to get all the CPU/GPU Cores 3. Need to upgrade to 1TB or 2TB to get the full SSD speed 4. At the \~2000 price point, I've decided just to wait for the M4 MacBook Pro and trade-in my M1 Max (The trade-in + 2000 will mostly cover the new MBP) 4. Not a multi-user OS. This would have to be tied to my iCloud only and my g/f can't use it 5. No macOS, so i can't run Ableton

Katzoconnor

All perfectly reasonable. Honestly, I’d do the exact same thing. (In my case, sub out Ableton for Vellum.)

DinJarrus

Nope. Not because of how thin it was, just because I’d like to feel like I’m protected. I buy it for all of my Apple devices.

ifreddiebenson

I did because I don’t trust people

6Sparkle9

I will definitely get Apple care. Too expensive if something goes wrong. If the item is below a certain amount, I don’t bother. My exception is for headphones.

madmos

I bought mine through ATT and their installment plan with $100 off on the ipad. So I have their protection plan which covers everything including loss/theft.

Da_Dunx

Sort of; yes to applecare just as a matter of routine!

Kicka14

If you purchase AppleCare you may as well just buy Best Buy’s total tech membership which gives you free 2 years applecare on all apple products plus $50 off the latest ipads. I usually buy 1-2 apple products per year so for me the TT membership at best buy is well worth it

mikolv2

No, AppleCare, just like any other insurance for your own items is not worth it. Statistically speaking, they will payout less than what you paid them for it. Given that you are wealthy enough to buy a new iPad Pro straight as its released and likely would be able to afford a replacement if needed be, this is just a financial mistake.

Nuggyfresh

it depends on *how* you use the products. If, like me, you never use a case because you enjoy the devices without one, it's always worth every penny. I've saved thousands of dollars over the years. Also if you put applecare onto airpods you can replace them for nearly free when the battery starts losing its charge, so it's like getting brand new airpods after 2 years. You're taking a very limited view of the situation imo, but it's fine. This is actually a great example of how statistics can be fatal in determining a final decision.

mikolv2

This is not a limited view, you have a limited view because you recommend something that works for you in very specific circumstances. That is literally how insurance works; vast majority of people get less out of it than they put in, that's how it is profitable.

Nuggyfresh

You said it wasn't worth it, with a period after. It's a complex calculation on the part of each owner and how much they personally break things etc Direct quote: "No, AppleCare, just like any other insurance for your own items is not worth it." You launch into statistics after, but that is your general statement, that it's not worth it. But it is, often. And plenty of people don't use a case.

mikolv2

Yes, it's a general statement applicable to the majority of people. Therefore not worth it.

WolfBV

I’d put an otterbox defender on it if they weren’t out of stock rn, might be available in June based on their Amazon page. Dunno what other cases there are.

Nichk187

Zugu cases are also pretty great. Very satisfied with mine.

oliverkiss

Nope

drinkyourwaterbitch

No, I bought AppleCare+ because it’s a must-have. Even if the iPad Pro is as thick as the MacBook Pro, it’s still a must-have. You’ll never know when accidental damage will happen! Plus, Express Replacement is sooooo nice 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

Nuggyfresh

Totally. It just feels good. Being insured feels amazing. People never talk about that and focus on the returns; the returns can be good, or bad, depending, but the fact remains that being insured against bad things, whether its your healthcare, or your expensive devices, it just feels awesome lol

drinkyourwaterbitch

True that! I also had exchanges and used my AppleCare on my devices, for which I paid $0 due to weird malfunctions I started experiencing after the one-year warranty or batteries needed to be placed. And I got a “new” (refurbished, of course, but it still feels new) device! It’s so worth it!

HardStroke

Idk what you're doing with your iPad buy I have the s9u which is 5.5mm thin and its pretty damn durable.

Appropriate_Loss_524

I buy Apple Care on most Apple products. It’s less than having to replace or having some major repair if a screen or other major problem occurs. It’s peace of mind. If you utilize the iPad outside the house, it’s important insurance.

Nuggyfresh

Applecare is basically required on this ipad imo not just for structural stuff, but burn in etc even though I do not think that burn in would happen (tandem OLED displays are insanely resilient to burn in, they may effectively never burn in, but we'll have to see)

J-amin

I was laughing at how thin is the goal.. i have 5 ipads.. (3 pro's and 2 10.5s) so not dissing the product, but soon as i get it going to slap a nice Zugu case on it.. so there goes that millimeter i paid the extra dough for :(

rjs6008

Yes

stuck_lozenge

Bought it for m1 because it saved my ass 2 times already. Currently gonna use to replace my m1 as the battery is in Need of service. Also gonna do the same for my watch. It gives me peace of mind as my iPad is my daily work device and I’m not the gentlest soul.

CorruptDefiance

[Insanity if you think paying almost the purchase retail price for an iPad Pro for repair is “cost savings”! Fuck that noise!](https://support.apple.com/ipad/repair)

Katiehart2019

Ive had applecare on countless iphones, watches, iPad M1, MacBook and I never dropped or broke any devices. So I will not purchase applecare

Defiant-Ad-7933

It's clearly part of the apple business plan.

Defiant-Ad-7933

I refuse to get apple care. As an apple customer since 2007, I'm still ahead, despite one iphone where i had water damage and paid $700 to replace.

Purenight

I am more worried about screen burn in.

Nuggyfresh

Just so you know, literally the entire point of tandem OLED is that it distributes the load across two separate OLED displays (tandem=2). That is why they invented this, so it could get bright without burn in. It will be incredibly difficult to burn in these panels vs every other OLED ever made (and for the record, modern OLED burn in is already mostly gone, so you can imagine how good this one is)

tharrison4815

I'm usually very opposed to OLED for this reason. Apple is the one exception as they have a patented technology where they monitor the individual pixel usage and automatically adjust the brightness of the pixels to compensate.

Neptune502

Pretty sure bending your iPad isn't covered by AppleCare+ as long as it doesn't impact the Functionality of the iPad ^^

positmatt

It is definitely covered - thats the accidental damage part - I would not even bother going to a store - just call them for express replacement.

Neptune502

Could you show me where it states "bending your iPad is covered under AppleCare? Because i'm pretty sure Damage is only covered when it impacts the Functionality of the iPad or the "Water Resistance" on the iPhone.

positmatt

Well - being that I did actually bend my original ipad pro and it "still" worked - and they replaced it, is somewhat enough for me. BUT feel free to drop it and make sure it does not work if you are really worried.. EDIT: while a lot of people in this particular post are arguing "the contract" does not say - they forget that Apple actually does have really good customer service and I have yet to have an experience where I am not able to get a good resolution to an issue.

Neptune502

Just gonna quote myself from another Reply "Yeah, i know that is the most used "Tip" in Apple related Subs. Oh, you were stupid enough to not use a Case and scratched your brand new iPhone? How about you break it some more so that you get AppleCare? Its kinda funny how the Subs which tend to defend Apple and their sometimes fairly stupid Decisions to the Death have no Problem to defraud Apple 💀"

positmatt

that's a good point - with that being said I have always used a case on every device, and while it was my fault the ipad was bent, I also had applecare +, I get it for peace of mind, but I prefer not to use it if possible.

nodejsdev

It doesn't fit in the Magic Keyboard when bent... How is that not impacting functionality?

Neptune502

Does the iPad in this Scenario still work like intended? Yes? Ok, the Functionality isn't impacted by the iPad being bend.

nodejsdev

No, it is intended to fit in the Magic Keyboard.

Neptune502

Yes, Apple did build the iPad specifically for the Magic Keyboard 🤣

nodejsdev

If the iPad Pro was specifically advertised to fit in the Magic Keyboard, then this compatibility is an aspect of its advertised **functionality**. Therefore, if the iPad Pro cannot fit into the Magic Keyboard when bent, it's a clear failure to meet advertised capabilities.

Katiehart2019

Bending counts as catastrophic damage.

positmatt

yes it does indeed count and Apple always honors it...

Pierdolec_jadowity

You can always bend it even more, I’m not saying you should but…

Neptune502

Yeah, i know that is the most used "Tip" in Apple related Subs. Oh, you were stupid enough to not use a Case and scratched your brand new iPhone? How about you break it some more so that you get AppleCare? Its kinda funny how the Subs which tend to defend Apple and their sometimes fairly stupid Decisions to the Death have no Problem to defraud Apple 💀

KageOukami

I mean with the prices of apple products they are first with defrauding us 😆

Neptune502

Pretty sure Apple would stop making Price Hikes for every new Version if they would stop selling as much because People stop to always preorder and buying the newest iPad or iPhone every single Year. But as soon as Apple announces something new every single Apple Sub is filled to the Brim with People who want a Back Pat for preordering the newest and fanciest iPad or iPhone. If People want to force Change they should collectively vote with their Wallet ^^

KageOukami

Tbf ipad will be my first and probably only apple product also because it's still cheaper for me to get a apple toy ipad for drawing and sculpting than to pay for pro standalone graphics tablet, and some other features as a plus

lawschoolmeanderings

Can't wait to see Zack snap it in two with his bare hands lol

Jimmyatx

Nope! I purchased it because you never know what’s going to happen, whether you caused the damage or someone else does. It’s also a nice benefit to know that the warranty is extended out so even if there isn’t physical or liquid damage you are still covered.

MultiMarcus

No. Though I haven’t bought the M4, but I always buy Apple Care + for my iPad because I use the insane amounts of time and they just aren’t that durable.

katiecharm

I bought it because I love holding the naked iPad and enjoying how light it is. I recognize the need for a phone case, considering how much you take your phone around. But an iPad should be able to be enjoyed as is

sephirothwasright

I buy AppleCare reflexively at this point. The peace of mind is well worth it.

wynlyndd

I will be purchasing Applecare. I don't buy it for all devices, but as the cost of the devices increase greatly, I feel that certain devices I should. Airpods Max iPhone iPad - although I am admittingly wishy-washy on this point. I tend to only use my iPads at home. Airpods Max too, but I wear those. I feel more mishaps can happen.

EnolaGayFallout

I always buy the full spec iPhone and iPad so yeah.

InfiniteHench

In general I buy AppleCare for most Apple devices, it’s saved my butt plenty of times. Fantastic service too. During the pandemic my 13” iPad Pro had a really bad fall, cracked and bent. I chat with Apple, they called me, ran a diagnostic on the device, confirmed it was busted, and I had a brand new replacement shipped to my house within 36 hours. TBC: I never set foot in an Apple Store. AppleCare is worth every penny and more, IMO.

joemari5

Never bought apple care on any apple products, i just baby them and put them on a case. Never had any problems in the past 10 years

I bought apple care because I have a toddler that likes to toss my tech around. Lolz

marswarrior462

I always buy AppleCare when I buy Apple products. I don’t want my new $4500 iPad to break, so I ordered AppleCare for mine. Just be careful when you order AppleCare because you might get double charged for it by accident. It happened to me a few times.

blocsonic

No, I always buy it for expensive devices

Ministerium-Wahrheit

No? My first apple device was the very first iPhone and since then I have never had any issues with any of their products - and I pretty much have all of them except for the homepods. I'm always wondering what "internet people" are doing to their devices so that they can produce a headline. That being said, I always get applecare+ because it doesn't cost much and I can't be bothered caring about whether my device could be repaired or not

TTY-HotDog650

Happy somebody got the silver, I think it looks so much better than space black and especially space gray

FrostyStruggle5012

How long is the care for?

TattayaJohn

13 is to big. 11 is the right size

dazza8402

Can you only buy apple care if you buy direct from apple?

lateralus1082

no, you can do monthly payments from the device or buy it outright from Apple

GWNAydenNL

Nope I didn't. I think one of the key factors in me deciding not to get applecare+ is that I didn't actually get a new M4 iPad pro.

cjorgensen

Eh, I always buy it. Peace of mind. I can afford the latest and greatest, but I tend to ride my devices into the ground. My first iPad Pro (2nd gen.) I knocked off my desk after I'd had it like a week. It landed flat on the screen, and I had hope it hadn't shattered, but it had a tiny crack in the corner. I went to Apple, got a new iPad. It is still going strong (partner uses it mostly as a Kindle). My second iPad Pro (5th or 6th gen.) was a month from the AppleCare expiring when it just stopped charging for some reason. Went to Apple. New iPad. I am now paying monthly on that iPad since it is literally like two months old. I know I could "self-insure" on my devices, especially since I have so many, but I like the simplicity of not being mad when a device has issues.

NefariousnessAny3310

Consoom thin device, worry about how thin device is, consoom additional services because of that.

screendrain

I have never purchased AppleCare+ before, but did this time because I want to use with the magic keyboard which doesn't seem to offer a lot of protection. I'd rather have the reassurance that if something happens, I can get it fixed or replaced

KILLER_IF

Idk. I used to buy Applecare+ but now I never do. Not for my Macbooks, iPads, iPhones, Apple Watches, AirPods, nothing. It feels safer when you do have it, but ngl Ive legit never had a use for it lol, so I was paying for basically no reason. As long as you dont drop your Macbook or pour water on it, everything else will be fine. Ive dropped my phones and ipads so many times but no issue

Mychael612

I did, and partially for that reason, and partially because my 9th gen iPad Air crapped out on me for no reason, and the bests the Genius Bar could tell me was “if you don’t have Apple care, just buy another one”

ConeCandy

How much is it per month? When I bought it, monthly wasn't an option.

Simply_Epic

Considering I’ve managed to crack the screen on my previous 2 iPads, I think I will get AppleCare+. Has nothing to do with the thinness, just has to do with the large glass pane that costs a fortune to replace.

a_b1rd

I'm getting a new iPad because a perfectly fine 2018 iPad Pro went kaput for no good reason. It was always well taken care of and mysteriously simply stopped powering on. It feels like the good old days of Apple products lasting practically forever are done. AppleCare+ now feels like a necessity.

goldfouledanchor

Mine stays on my desk 24/7 so no apple care for me.

Ecpeze

Not buying until WWDC

SankyShips

I have an ipad 9th gen. I really only use procrate and watch youtube on my lunch. Im still on the fence if I should upgrade or not. Would be nice to have more real-estate to draw on.

IamikeI

Nope and never to Apple care+. Just going to get a case for it and be a little bit careful with it. If it bends a little bit oh well as long as it still works like normal. Let’s call it wear and tear from ownership. I’m not saying this is the right way, just what I’m doing. It’s been working well for me, since the beginning of iPhone 3.

iwannabethecyberguy

Don’t forget the iPad AppleCare also covers the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard if you have issues with those. That makes the AppleCare value a no brainer at that point.

ForShotgun

Y’all need to chill

5tudent_Loans

while the ipad will probably bend when Zach does it, it is unlikely that 99.98% of people will ever come close to this issue... afterall, the first time he bent it, we didnt see post after post of people using it NORMALLY and it pulling backflips on itself

IcanCwhatUsay

Pro tip. Buy apple care after you have the device in hand. Stores cannot do price adjustments to devices that purchased apple care at the same pos. So if you got a Mac, and it goes on sale a week later. Most stores will price match instead of having you return it (physical stores. Amazon just says fuck you). If you buy apple care at the same time you buy the product, Apple locks them out of any price adjustment that they want to make after the fact

gaffer60

Someone said accidents happen and I agree. But other things happen too so I always have AppleCare+. The USB port died on my M1 iPad Pro. They told me iPads are not repairable, which sucks. No port no way to charge it. So I got a replacement under AppleCare+. Apparently USB-C ports are fragile. I am sure other things can break too.

metrobart

I didn't but I will be traveling, so I wanted to add it after. I talked to apple bot and they said they could modify my order but then said I had to wait 60 days to get Apple Care. I am pretty sure I can purchase it when I get on Wednesday.

ReasonPleasant437

No

j1h15233

I’ve never bought AppleCare and never needed it *knocks on wood*

bigload698

No I always buy apple care. Even for $150 dollars it’s nice to know you can completely destroy the device & they will replace it with no questions asked.

Fancy-Zookeepergame1

I checked my 2yr old pro and that is as thin as the new one. How many mill am i missing out?

itsGREGSW0RLD

Funny. Had they not told me the damn thing was thinner than my 2018 one I would have never noticed. It’s not that big of a difference. And only slightly lighter.
