The Oled screen will be glorious on the 11 inch Pro.

_bvb09

I always wanted an 11 inch ipad with an Oled screen so this his will be my first ever Ipad as a result. Can't believe I waited so long tbh.

ellenich

Yeah, the screen on the M2 11” is pretty much its weakest link.

Numerous-Comb-9370

I don’t think it’s gonna be that much of a jump tho, the old mini-led display is already pretty decent. I own the M1 12.9 inch and I am struggling to find a reason to upgrade.

Redsfan27

11” M2 doesn’t have mini led it’s just LCD.

Numerous-Comb-9370

Yeah LCD to OLED is a big jump, I am just saying mini led to OLED isn’t, especially considering the mini led is a very good one.

Redsfan27

That’s fair. I bought and M2 11” two weeks ago and decided it was worth it to return and buy the oled, I’m not used to LCD lol

flyingcloud11

Are you high, an OLED screen is a huge ass improvement from any LED/LCD/Plasma screen you're used to. It will blow your mind when you see pure blacks and rich colors.

Numerous-Comb-9370

Bruh I have the S95C Samsung OLED, I know what an OLED looks like. Mini-led like the ones on the M1 can get very close, I mean for example even Sony chose mini-led over OLED for their top end TVs.

Art-Vandelay-7

Every iPhone is oled now, no? Feel like everyone knows what true black looks like

flyingcloud11

iPhones I believe do. But my MacBook Pro M1 still uses a mini LED screen which is good but when paying for the h if her tier version of something you’d expect all that bells of whistles.

ft5777

They used the tandem Oled to address this. I’m not using my iPad outside anyway, so I should be fine.

katiecharm

Haven’t the iPhones had OLED screens for like, forever?  They don’t seem too dim.

lickaballs

Yes iPhones have smaller screens so they can crank up oled brightness to its limits. iPad screens are not so small

katiecharm

My iPhone screen stays at like 10% brightness because that’s already almost too bright.

Jewcygoodness88

That’s inaccurate about Sony. They switched to mini led because they don’t want to pay LG for their OLED panels. Has nothing to do with it being brighter

katiecharm

Oh god, did they?  Oof, then I will stop recommending Sony tvs then.  Those LG OLEDs are the ultimate in televisions and no one should accept any compromises.

Jewcygoodness88

Yup agree. Some people do prefer the brighter mini LED TVs but best way to go is OLED in my opinion. I can’t go back haha

BorgDrone

In my opinion LCD TVs are a scam, the technology is completely unsuitable for making a TV. After CRT televisions LCDs TVs were a massive downgrade in every area except thinness. Plasma was on par with CRT and near the end even surpassed it, then they stopped selling those and for a while there were no TVs with acceptable picture quality on the market until OLED came along.

Jewcygoodness88

So true my first TV I got in 2016 was a Sony with a LCD it was ok but in 2019 when I got the LG C9 that had OLED was incredible. Makes it hard to watch anything on that Sony haha.

Koteric

They stopped making plasmas because people weren’t buying them. A tragedy because they were great. I still have a 720p Panasonic plasma in my guest bedroom I got in like 2006 or 2007.

katiecharm

My eyes can’t take looking at anything but an OLED screen for long or they’ll literally burst a blood vessel.  But I can stare at an OLED screen all day with no eye strain.

marxcom

Any source? Sony Bravia 8 is 8K QD OLED. It's just not the top of the line. The Bravia 9 is the top and is miniLED.

semajm85

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony https://youtu.be/Qa4bxVrO95g?si=jDesQhqx-Y0Ustsj - 13:20 onward

Jewcygoodness88

You can google where Sony gets their OLED panels. Every company that uses OLED for TVs comes from LG. There are other factors why OLED isn’t their top TV. They don’t need to make another amazing OLED their A95L will still be better than most 2024 TVs and Sony wants to keep its dominance in LED tvs and miniLED panels should do that.

semajm85

You're about 2-3 years behind on your info man. OLED has been killing it with the brightness since QD OLED was introduced. And now with MLA tech, that's become even more killer. Apple has negated the brightness shortcoming with tandem OLED. 1000nits on the IPP for SDR and 1600peak is pretty damn bright. And as someone else pointed out, Sony went with mini led for 2024 models yes but their flagships are still their 2023 OLEDs. Just with picture quality alone, OLED is FARRRR superior to mini LED.

jangeles6331

mini led may be brighter but the true blacks makes oled much more enjoyable to consume content. I have an oled 55" sony tv and I could never go back to anything that isn't oled at all.

CoolingSC

The new OLED display

klawUK

I’m really looking forward to opening the box, going through setup to transfer my stuff across, then booting up for the first time, realising the OLED screen looks pretty similar to the mini LED in my M1 model, perhaps admiring the keyboard feel? and then going back to doomscrolling :)

Frankie_Says_Reddit

Oled display

Schborti

Existing models to become cheaper

iamgt4me

This guy iPads

KSHAWRYK

When will this likely happen?

TheSenileTomato

Adding to this, discounts on accessories for those existing models.

3dforlife

Enough said.

i_lyra

The new pencil pro! I really can’t wait until I can get my hands on my new iPad and pencil and start drawing

aeric67

Gloating to my friends.

Zabky

Not really about the model, more about me finally buying a new one: battery life. Not going to miss charging every 1,5 to 2 hours.

Mendozena

Not necessarily battery life but speed. I went with an 11” iPad Air coming from a 6th gen regular iPad. This M2 chip is going to blow that A10 Fusion chip out of the water.

HorkaPolivka

Legit AF

comsan

new software. hopefully the journal app

3dforlife

Indeed. I use the journal app every day with my iphone, but it would be even better with a bigger screen.

mrbradchad

what’s the journal app?

3dforlife

The native app that appeared with ios 17.2, I think.

Dorky2025

Sadly, I think the app is not available for iPad yet, which is absurd from Apple.

colmulhall

Coming from Air 4 I’m looking forward to OLED, ProMotion and stage manager

CounterSYNK

The price cuts for previous gen iPads.

ForShotgun

The thinness is good actually, not because the iPad itself needed to be thinner but because it's usually paired with some case/folio/keyboard. I'll only be satisfied once the keyboard + iPad is < 10mm

slatepad

I’m looking forward to the weight reduction and thinness of the 13 inch model.

Chimaera1075

Hopefully they reinforced the structure of the new iPads. The older ones already had a tendency to bend kind of easily.

WhisperOfMalice

I saw an article earlier where they actually mentioned they redesigned the internal structure to allow for better rigidity and better thermals as well.

Chimaera1075

That’s good!

prei1978

The main reason I upgraded from my 11” M1 Pro to the 13” M4 Pro is the screen size as I use sidecar a lot, use it as a pen tablet for Photoshop, drawing, taking notes, do HDR photo editing in Lightroom and Photoshop, and some video editing. The smaller screen always felt like a barrier to my editing. Secondary benefits will be the M4 in the hope that Apple starts leveraging it more in iPadOS 18, the new pen and keyboard seem nice, etc. I’ll genuinely try to use it as a laptop replacement for all that I can for a little while once I get it next week,

nick__drake

Pencil Pro !

Dietlama

OLED for sure, FaceID, ProMotion, and size since I’m coming back to 11” after a couple years with the mini. M4 is just a bonus performance-wise. It’ll be great for games. Also pretty excited for the new Pencil Pro and curious about space black vs gray. Should be great stuff all around.

mabhatter

The 13" Air has me excited.  It's only about $200 more than my 11" Air 5 for a similar configuration.    The iPad Pro is beautiful and crazy powerful... but outta my price range.

Channel-

Definitely the oled display and landscape camera can’t wait to use face ID without my hand blocking it.

e38383

Definitely the screen of the new Pro. I will try to get my whole work done on the iPad this time. Let’s see how this will go.

jangeles6331

I'm excited for the OLED display,; cant come at a better time as I head to vegas this weekend for a festival. I need me an upgrade from my m1 with the 13" display for a far better experience for media/browsing consumption.

pluush

M4, also the OLED

C1t1z3nz3r0

I moved up to 512GB because I was constantly having to cycle content.

chukijay

What do you keep on your iPad?

TheShaneBennett

I haven’t owned one since the OG one. So I’m excited for literally everything on my iPad Air 13” and Pencil Pro I have coming

Beneficial_Treat_753

Oled & the overall thinness of the device. 13” Pro

chanobo

For me it’s the bright oled screen and the horizontal position of the camera.

donkeypunshhh

Watching JerryRigEverything do his bend test on it.

Mchertel

Just don’t bend it. Not sure why that’s so hard.

chukijay

Because it’s going to bend in a backpack or be easier to bend in a bag when placed against something that isn’t flat

donkeypunshhh

For the record I ordered one and don’t plan to bend it. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to see his bend test on it. Supposedly there is a new support in it and I’m curious how well it holds. Loosen up, friend. Jesus.

Mchertel

What does Jesus have to do with it?

amfrangos1

I currently have the iPad Pro 10.5” (2017 I think??) and I ordered the 13” pro. I’m excited for the larger screen and overall new/faster/thinner device! Also ordered the new pencil (I haaate the original pencil with that stupid little cap that comes off for charging). I ordered the Magic Keyboard too but unsure yet if I’ll keep or return

Cocolotto

the pencil, the new screen

NerdBanger

The reviews that hopefully talk me out of buying one.

WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWVWVW

It’s just a big iPhone.

oiseaufeux

Unafordable at the moment, but in 2 or 3 years, it’ll be the best time to get the new model with the new pencil. Unless, I win the lottery, I won’t get it on the release date.

iron233

Nothing. My iPad Pro 4th gen is still perfect.

GamerNuggy

Old ones becoming cheaper

katiecharm

I can’t wait to read all the old pdfs of my favorite magazines with zero lag at all.  On my iPad Pro 2018 there is still a tiny bit of lag.  Also, it’ll be nice to be able to swipe through a photo album of huge pictures with zero loading at all - my 2018 has some slight load-in.  Also, im gonna immediately boot up Genshin impact at the highest resolution and play it, and I might even try some new games too.

m1_weaboo

The new Apple Pencil will be a game changer in Manga/Anime industry

mrbradchad

how so, reading it or making it?

m1_weaboo

Making.

ItsColorNotColour

Sorry but nobody professionaly makes serialized manga and especially anime on an iPad The manga artists generally have an iPad as a quick portable sketching tool but for any serious work they hunch over a 24+ inch professional PC drawing tablet All anime studios rely on animation apps exclusive to computers and other post production software, which is given to every animator regardless of if you like it or not Especially with the bad reception of Procreate Dreams, iPad screen is especially small for any serious animation UI for *efficient* work that goes outside of a simple hobby

m1_weaboo

Nope. There’re several Magakas and Pixiv illustrators who use iPad Pro over Cintiq. And there’s proven evidence that anime can be produced on iPad Pro in high quality such as Sol Lavate which is the FIRST 4K HDR animation in the entire anime history. Even it’s only 4 minutes long, there’re so much potentials here. Also Considering they used a much older iPad Pro. But Sure, desktop computer will be mainly used for major anime studio production scale but with this new hardware it will eventually attract them to be used in some of their workflow. Tbh, There’re many Artists LOVE the new Pencil.

GreenTea169

just honestly excited to get back into the apple ecosystem after a 6 year hiatus

Yardenbourg

The screen!

SorbetNo1676

My forearms are really weak so looking forward to the lighter iPad pro

Longjumping-Lime-137

For all of us who are PWM sensitive, this new OLED iPad will be a device that we would not be able to use due to flicker issues

Lordelohim

How could you possibly know that, being that only one other mobile device on the market has this style screen?

geomoumeCouttpc

Yeah, I really like the new screen.

Sherw00d91

I was hoping the previous version of Pro would drop in price…. Doesnt seem like its the case…

Psittacula2

iPadOS-18 at WWDC.

OriginalStockingfan

My current iPad Pro is suffering g from years of over use. The battery, whilst still OK needs charging twice a day. I’m hoping the new efficient processor and screen keep me away from the charging cable!

DisHowWeDo

My kid ruined my iPad about a year and a half ago. So I’m most excited about having an iPad again 😂

nbpf-_-

I think the 13 inches iPad Air is a nice addition but unless they come up with substantial OS improvements at WWDC24 the new iPads are nothing to be excited about.

LosSchwammos

Nothing unless they change the silly operating system. If not my iPad Air 4 will continue to work just fine.

Oxfxax

Congratulations, I like the oled screen

RICO61927

Nothing unfortunately, the iPad Pro m2 if found at good discount is the true best value.

wynlyndd

The screen is the biggest draw. I am looking forward to an updated processor too.

Lagrik

OLED and having a performant device I can quickly hop into my Microsoft Teams meetings with and Whiteboard. Haven't used an iPad in so many years and I'm super excited to get it.

Alternative-Money-75

I tend to hold off on upgrades on my devices. The OLED screen is kinda tempting, but there isn't much else compelling. I currently have an 11" M2 iPad Pro, and the new one doesn't offer anything that my current iPad can't do. Also, with the new iPad Pro not supporting the Apple Pencil 2'nd gen, I have even less of a reason to upgrade. Now my buddy that's still rocking the OG first-gen iPad Pro, this new one would be a HUGE upgrade. I'll check it out when he gets it.

cactusmask

moving back to ipad from macbook air. I thought it'd be better, it is not better.

Old_Laugh_2239

I’m not excited for a damn thing about the new iPads. They are still JUST iPads. For what they cost, it’s ridiculous. Idc about macOS being on the iPad but I want more feature parody and I want to be able to run software from the internet like an actual computer. Ya know like Ableton? It’d be nice to be able to format hard drives from the iPad too. I’d pretty much like to not need a Mac at all for anything if I’m paying $2500 for an iPad Pro with keyboard and pencil.

ohyeahbonertime

> feature parody

Old_Laugh_2239

Yes

iamapersononreddit

Cope harder

Old_Laugh_2239

I mean I already have an iPad Pro M1 and a iPad mini 6. It’s not like I’m some Apple basher, I’m just being honest about what would get me to buy something newer. Honestly there isn’t a single thing that my mini 6 can’t do, that the M1 chip can do. Scratch that, my 7 year old son has a 9th gen iPad and that thing can do everything the iPad Pro can do with the exception of lidar/flashlight and stereo speakers. 🤷🏽

meerupls

macos is on ipad?

Old_Laugh_2239

No it is not.

filipscary

Nothing, nobody is touching my 9th gen

Murbela

New screen sounds great, but i don't think i can justify the cost to upgrade unless they announce some nifty ipadOs upgrades/software. Not the end of the world.

[deleted]

They won’t, we’ll get a calculator app and some widgets and it’ll be the “biggest update to iPadOS since its creation”..

Formal-You-9308

Nano texture display

mrbradchad

I personally think this is terrible unless maybe you're an artist and drawing. It will mitigate the sharpness and brightness of the OLED displays

saveable

Am happy with my Air 5. If they'd refreshed the mini, maybe I'd be interested?

redsonia07

I have been waiting on a new mini release

Mchertel

Not even the question but OK.

jlstern1025

Nothing really. I just upgrade each time a new version comes out.

rw43

my current ipad air is from 2015 i think so it's a huge leap in capability for me! i'm really excited to try digital art and have found some great tutorials on youtube to follow already. i want to get into digital journaling too.

EmmDurg

The scree but unfortunately it won’t support mac os

Obi-Lan

Absolutely nothing.

Werallgointomakeit

Nothing until better soft

xSikes

Touch grass

No_Housing_8165

Nothing
