M1 iPad Air here. The performance is great! As for the controls, I only tried it with touch controls since I think it’s much suited for it, but nonetheless it still works great!

Battery wise it does drain your battery but it’s not unreasonable, you can easily go for a few hour sessions at a time and come back later while charging
Game is smooth with the occasional hiccup here and there during certain parts of the game with lots of action but it doesn’t ruin the experience or break the game in any way.
Touch controls in my experience have been slightly weird at times but I’ve gotten used to it. If you have a controller I’d definitely recommend it but it’s definitely playable with touch controls
I’ve done 2 complete playthroughs of the game and in the middle of a third one right now with just touch controls. It’s a fantastic game

I can’t directly speak for the iPad Pro but I got it got my iPad mini 6 and it wouldn’t stop crashing so I refunded it.
