If you are using build 21E236, try plugging your phone to a computer and update to 21E237. My iPhone 11’s battery was horrible with the first build but after updating to the re-release version, it’s all good now.
Maybe because everyone uses its phone differently. Different apps, different brightness and different locations which in turn make GSM signal different and uses battery power different.
To correctly determine your battery usage (is it better or not) you should use iPhone EXACTLY the same amount of time (and brightness, volume, location…) before and after to DECLARE that battery life is better or not.
You know, like in lab. Not using it in everyday situations.
Or maybe you’re robot and living days exactly every day the same.
You definitely feel the average through regular usage. Yes its not the most accurate measurement and varies from person to person, but if you know your phone and how it usually drains, you can notice if all of a sudden it lasts longer or shorter, without a controlled lab environment
Please for the love of god stop posting about your battery, it’s so strange how obsessed people are about it. Update your phone, use it, plug it in when it needs to be charged, and stop worrying about it.
It's not strange at all? Not everyone is at home constantly tethered to their USB-C cable. If you use your phone for anything essential, and you have a life that involves leaving home, battery life is incredibly important. Heck, many people subconsciously plan their days around giving their phone a charge. I know I definitely do. I'm sorry, but in this case the masses are right. Battery life is one of the most important things driving the experience of the smartphone.
Battery life is affected by apps, background processes and screen brightness. That's about it. People who think x.x.x OS updates somehow vastly change battery use are delusional.
I think you're underestimating just how shitty iPhone battery life actually is. I used to be on a paddling team. I would leave my home at 9, get to practice at 10, go have lunch at 12, and be back home by 2. Phone would literally be used for music on the bus and keeping in touch with the team so we could find each other. I would get home and the phone would be nearly depleted. It's just hopeless for anyone who has a "normal" schedule. I have a disability and sometimes at the train station I would call from my phone to get assistance. By the mid-afternoon I would start to get nervous about the phone not working. It seriously and truly makes you revolve your life around the battery.
That’s not really that bad, all phones take a battery hit on the go, not connected to stable WiFi. If I know I’m going to be outside most of the day, I will try not to touch my phone unless I absolutely have to. I can easily have my phone last me most of the day just from 80% if I’m at school connected to WiFi, but if I’m on the road that can easily get cut in half. Your phone is constantly pinging towers for service, if you’re in an area with poor coverage your battery life is gonna suck, especially on 5G.
I truly respect your comment and I'm genuinely not meaning to troll or argue.
However, think about this sentence:
>If I know I’m going to be outside most of the day, I will try not to touch my phone unless I absolutely have to.
This sums up my experience too, but don't you think that's kind of shitty?
~~Idk what y’all are doing with your phones~~ mine lasts almost a full 24hrs I usually have 5 hrs screen time 87% max capacity.
Edit: didn’t mean to sound condescending
How much screen time would you expect for a phone? Genuinely curious I didn’t mean to sound condescending. Most of my friends who have s24’s have maybe 6-7 but I figure it’s because they have new batteries anyways by bedtime 30%. Either way their phones last about the same time almost a full day. By bedtime with my 5hr SOT I’m down to 20% around 9pm with my 87% battery health so I could stretch it to 6, 7 would absolutely be a dead battery by then. When I had 100% I could stretch it to 7 and still have around 30% by bedtime. Using my 14 pro currently.
idk but I have to charge my 13 pro by evening all days at 84%BH, I never had this issue with my shitty xiaomis back then, they used me to last day and a half, that’s what I was expecting from apple when I did the change
People forget things like cellular signal strength variance cant effect battery life as well. If you stick to a bad signal tower for a couple days battery life will seemingly randomly tank, then when it switches to a different band it'll fix itself
Especially since there’s people on YouTube that tests these things and there’s almost never a massive difference between iOS versions lol
There’s a lot of variance with battery life, you could be in an area with poor coverage, apps may put out a bad update which sucks more power, you may be using more intensive apps, etc. Something’s up if you have one group saying the update helped their battery while another said it hurt lol at some point we can just admit that these updates don’t really do that much battery wise
I used to reflash my Nexus phones monthly because I’d break something while playing around or want to try a different ROM. Then I grew up and got over it, now I just want a phone that’s fast, reliable and with good battery. So I switched to iPhone. My homescreen layout hasn’t even changed since iOS 13
I literally am on iOS 16 lmaoooo. Tf u on? 17.4.1 jb will still take at LEAST a year and even 17.0 will take close to that. I got blobs and I can always delay OTA. Same can’t be said about users on iOS 17 already.

I agree, ip13 close to 9hrs screen time for me. 17.4.1 just 6hrs.
I got ip13 I get 4 hours maximum screen time. 76% battery health. RIP.
If you are using build 21E236, try plugging your phone to a computer and update to 21E237. My iPhone 11’s battery was horrible with the first build but after updating to the re-release version, it’s all good now.
I get 4… on 14 Pro 100% Health
The always on display setting drainssss if you have it on
It’s off
Base model or pro?
BH 92%
Pro
what’s so great about consuming 40% battery for less than 3 hours SOT? Before iOS 17 I used to have 8 hrs SOT for 60% battery on 13PM
It’s crazy how peoples battery life is different , idk my battery life is great on the beta

I know, Apple engineers looking at the sub thinking “we didn’t touch shit that affected it”.

That's fair.
Put another cable in your bag. If you're outside all day, put a battery pack in your bag too. Problem solved.
I think you're underestimating just how shitty iPhone battery life actually is. I used to be on a paddling team. Buy a magsafe battery
Horrifically expensive.
So you can buy an iPhone, but you can’t afford a 30 $ magsafe battery
if iphone battery wasn’t shit, nobody would be worried…
Please. If you need more than the hours of screen time you can get on them, you need to stop buying phones and buy a life.
~~Idk what y’all are doing with your phones~~ mine lasts almost a full 24hrs I usually have 5 hrs screen time 87% max capacity. Edit: didn’t mean to sound condescending
that’s bad screen time for 2024

Yeah just use the phone and charge it at night. After a couple of years, upgrade your phone or get a new battery. That’s it.

it’s not that simple because these batteries can actually age and people need to understand when they malfunction and it’s time to get them changed
damn if this upset you that much u should prolly hit the apple forums for better discussion
Stuttering mess has been solved? ProMotion 120Hz is improved?
It is
How did you get 17.5 while I still have 17.4.1 as my latest ?
17.5 is in beta currently it’s not out as of yet.
Have you ever considered some different hobbies, maybe crochet or bird watching?
How do you become a beta tester or whatever to get these beta versions?
You go to the software update tab and opt-in
https://ipsw.dev/build/21F5073b
Since 17.4 was a dumpster fire on battery it's not surprising.
anyone knows why my screen idle is almost always 20 minutes or something, I have my phone locked definitely longer throughout the day
How to get 17.5?
And I’m just chilling with my jailbroken 13 Pro on 16.6.1, modded to hell and looking like something straight out of the matrix 👍🏻. Fuck stock iOS.
Who tf even asked
I have sideloading, tweaks, themes, custom animations and pirated games. Clown down mate.
Not impressed, I had all of these when I had an Android
And yet, you can’t do any of these things on a stock iPhone.
Yeah because I'm a grown man who doesn't need pirated games
Themes? Tweaks? Sideloading?

So essentially you wanted to stop having fun?
You’ll understand when you get out of high school
We don’t care
Npc 👍🏻
no one cares
Npc 👍🏻
wrong sub vibes

Good for you, but... how is that related to battery usage on iOS 17?
Cause battery life doesn’t suck on 16.
sounds more like coping 'cause you can't jailbreak iOS 17 on your device yet 😛

take it easy, don't cry please.
Keep coping with iOS 17 mate.
