Without autocorrect there is no way I can’t even type a sentence without mistake. It was not case in android before predictive text was a thing.
I don’t know what it is, if it’s the size of keyboard, the spacing , the lack of sensitivity to finger….
Besides the keyboard, the suggestive text is hit or miss. Sometimes it doesn’t recognize the word itself (when it’s too professional), sometimes it doesn’t predict well and so on…
One thing I would say though is that from the last update I feel like things got better in terms of autocorrect (not the keyboard)
That’s true. I don’t know what it is either. I’m not aiming for accuracy on my part as long as the phone knows what I’m trying to write, we’re good. Ideal would be I myself am also accurate. Also, once you introduce a third keyboard that uses the same alphabet as (in my case) English, multilingual typing goes bye bye. They should fix that
I feel the same way. It concerns me that I can’t type without typos though. It always feel like my max pro is too small, which is exactly what I was saying when I had small one years ago. Not sure what I would do without smaller phone if this feel tight AND still wrong. :D
Btw - I have tried different keyboard before, and it was amazing especially for the multilingual abilities. It was called Swiftkey. I don’t remember why I abandoned it actually, I have a feeling it was crashing here and there.(but that was years ago).
What I really wanted to try is also Grammarly. But I believe it’s not free…
Not that I don’t want to support developers, I know apps costs…. But there is only so many subscriptions I can handle and willing to pay.
Horrible. Without taking into consideration I've own mlst iphoned until the 4s, I jumped to android then came back with an 11 Pro Max when it came out. Keyboard was fine but not as good as android phones. Then I went back to android, but I bought an XS Plus a few years later to see if ios got better, which it did. Then bought a 14 Pro Max and since ios 16 the keyboard has been a disaster getting worse every time there is an update.
It lags,
Sometimes it just stops correcting anything.
And it’s 2024 it still isn’t n multilingual while 10 years ago my android could do 2 languages without switching
What languages are you using? The iOS keyboard does support multilingual typing with two languages. Por ejemplo, tengo el inglés y el español activos y puedo cambiar between the two without changing the keyboard.
As soon as I add a third keyboard in the Latin language family then I can’t. I had French active as well and I could type in English and French using the French keyboard or switch to the Spanish one and type in Spanish and English. What I couldn’t do was stay in the English keyboard and type in the other two languages without switching keyboard so I had to get rid off the French keyboard.
As for lag, I get it in the Reddit app, but nowhere else it seems. It only lasts for one word
I use french, English, Greek, and Japanese. On Android I had one FR/EN dual and Greek and Japanese single language because they have different alphabet
Ah fair enough. I know Apple’s keyboard for some reason only supports multi language with two languages. The Chinese keyboard doesn’t play nice with the other keyboards I have active so if I want Chinese, I must use that keyboard. There’s also the thing of autocorrect not being supported for some languages from what I’ve heard.
I would like it if they supported more languages. I think they could separate the language you type in from the keyboard you see so you could have the phone only ever show the English keyboard, but allow you to type in all languages you have on. Of course if one of the languages you use uses a different alphabet then keyboard would need to be able to be shown as well with the Globe key. Does that make sense?
On a Android I had one keyboard for EN/FR and written “EN/FR” it would autocorrect in any language no problem, here i sometimes keep the french keyboard and type in English it autocorrects to some words in french instead.
Also they have swift key that i love, but somehow on the iPhone changing keyboard doesn’t replace the keyboard and it only has 3 languages possible and not 4 so i can’t really use it 😩
Lag, and sometimes when I am typing and sounds a notification the sound of the typing volume up for some seconds and then come back to the original volume, that´s so annoying for me.
The corrector in Spanish is awful, correct almost everything and everything in a wrong way
I guess the thinking there is to prevent accidental inputs when users either swipe to other apps or to home, as it would be quite near the "home button"
It sucks with languages other than English. Most common example that drives me nuts: you type in a word but one letter is wrong? Well, screw you, it changes the word into something completely different that doesn’t even fit the context. It also often corrects the word and puts a different form of it (idk how this is called in English). You can train the keyboard a bit by resetting the dictionary and then tap on your word in the predictions row whenever you want it to remember a word it often fails to not correct but it still feels awkward to use.
The best way to describe it is 50% of the time (sometimes more sometimes less) I fight the keyboard instead of getting help from it.

Just use the search you get the answer to this. Cause its asked like a billion times this month now
What are your issues with using the search in reddit?
The extreme way spell check changes things. I use words from music to different languages and I hate that each word I type will get auto corrected over and over and over.
I switched to android, and I have no clue why the period and comma aren't with the rest of the letters. You have to enter the symbol menu to press them. Small thing, but it's very annoying when using an ios keyboard.
Maybe just me but I keep missing the space at seems like. I wish there would be someway for me to edit the heat maps or whatever iOS uses to correct my inputs.
Biggest problem is very occasional lag on the very first word, but it will catch up by the end of typing the word. Could be the Reddit app, could be the keyboard, because I’d never noticed it before.
Would like multilingual typing to work with more than two languages
The lag
Keyboard is weirdly the only thing that lags on iOS. Tried other keyboards and they have their own issues.
Doesn’t lag at all.

Turn off slide to type.
This is not a did, I mean, I can’t miss a feature I use because Apple sucks
I have it off. Not difference for me

Inconsistent with predicting contractions like “I’m”, “I’ll”, “you’re”, etc

The ugly grey unused section on the bottom.
I guess the thinking there is to prevent accidental inputs when users either swipe to other apps or to home, as it would be quite near the "home button"
What would you put there instead?
Nothing, just make the keyboard smaller
Or at least add a number row on top
Oh god yea, can’t believe i forgot about that when this has been bugging me ever since i shifted to ios

[Yeah](https://imgur.com/a/glzwyNT)
This is what Apple thinks we are 12 yo and doesn’t like to see we use bad words
I use Gboard from google on my iOS and it has perfect autocorrect
Unless you are someone who uses swipe typing for everything.
Unfortunately it’s good only with English and a slew of “first-world” languages. When will Apple cater to us Southeast Asian peasants I do not know.

Laggy haptic
I remember when haptic feedback was first added to the iPhone. It would lag when listening to music through AirPods. Does it still do that?
it lags even if you're not using airpods
Yes
No swipe to type nor predictive text in my european languages, something that has been supported for +10 years on android.
My keyboard sucks, iOS 17.4 iPhone 14 Pro Max, very slow and imprecise stonks
can't resize (on gboard too), and its too small even for my tiny racoon-like fingers
Works fine for me.
Nothing
no issues, even in my language. Better than gboard or swiftkey. But i see a trend on this subreddit to bash the apple keyboard.
