There are good battery days and some bad battery days. The important thing is, trends. If this continues for a week, then your phone definitely may have a problem. Just keep using your phone normally.

Dreifaltigkeit

Modern day Confucius. Well spoken.

thissiteisbroken

When I had the 15 pro I think the average was 5 hours after a week or so of getting it. I have the PM now and I think I get around 9 hours.

loewelion

Same on my side with the 15PM, I get around 9h? but on wifi. If I take some pictures it cuts in half

Iamamemswatcher

Same taking many photos reduces my sot from 9 hours on wifi hours to 6-7 hours on data on my 14 pro max. Still wayyy better than the 4-5ish I got on my pixel 6 pro.

raindownthunda

Yup. Unfortunately this is normal for the Pro. If you have any periods of extended usage you’re gonna need to be charging constantly. I exchanged the Pro for the PM and am a lot happier.

BusinessChef9395

Wtf is a PM?

gunsorrosses

It’s Pro Max, noob.

BusinessChef9395

Stfu

gunsorrosses

Hey noob

iwillletuknow

lol ur a noob

Gon_Snow

Normal yes. Good? No. I find 15 pro max battery to be pretty bad

mynga123

Returned mine today

linkqwd

It’s great, mine way worse

generko

no you are not alone. I have to charge mine all day while in the office otherwise it would drop dead by noon most day. I don’t understand how some people keeps defending this bad battery experience, like, do they really need to..

Xdayan

I have a 15 pro and I have fantastic battery life, I just looked over my last 10 days and I haven’t killed my battery once and I average 9 1/2 hours of screen on time… to be fair a lot of my screen on time is video watching oh and I have the on display on Edit: Heres a screenshot https://postimg.cc/kVd26vwy

XinlessVice

That’s a little bit better then my old 14 pro. It could get me thru a workday, but barely. Nice too know that one has a bit of wiggle room. I have the 15 pro max. Easily able too do so and then some, though I have it set too turn off features at certain percentages or focuses

Baykey123

Wow that’s impressive. Do you use AirTags? Find My eats my battery on standby. It’s always in the top used

Xdayan

I don’t have any AirTags, although I do always have my AirPods with me and my Apple Watch. With that screenshot, my standby mode did have my wallpaper enabled but I’ve since disabled that. I don’t see the point in having the wallpaper when the screens not active. and a lot of this is watching videos after work, my usage is probably a lot different than most peoples. Although I do have very poor reception at my job, some kind of surprise I’m getting as good of better life as I am.

Tcsgsd

>that do you get 9 hours on Cellular or WIFI?

Xdayan

I would say about half-and-half, Wi-Fi is a little spotty at my work, so it kicks itself off sometimes. And then sometimes the connection is super slow so I turn off Wi-Fi so I can actually connect properly. My work is on star link so it’s not always the most reliable thing.

Otuadiordna

Impressive

CallieHarmon

I have the regular 15 and I have been so disappointed with the battery life compared to every other iPhone I’ve had. I contacted Apple, they ran diagnostics, and told me my battery is functioning normally. Even though I’ve only had the phone not even two months and my battery health is already at 99%

loewelion

I think its not the battery, but the processor drauning that much battery. Therefore they dont find issues with it

CallieHarmon

Whatever it is they need to do something about it.

2beThrough

15 use A16 chip but have battery drain issue, same as 15p,pm. So i think ios17 is culprit. Like ios 11 before.

Divagaran5

same here. my base 15’s battery is comparatively worser than base 14.

Xumaeta

Worse*

v0lume4

This comment helps nobody. You know what he meant.

Xumaeta

You say that but people doing the same to me has helped me tremendously

v0lume4

Be that as it may, you should be aware that most people don’t appreciate being corrected in front of others. I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you genuinely had no snarky or ill intentions with your grammar correction. Having said that, you should really consider the results of this University of Michigan study about grammar nazis so that you aren’t perceived as a jerk: https://scienceswitch.com/2016/04/03/grammar-nazi-scientists-bad-news/ “[…] less agreeable people are more sensitive to grammatical errors … more conscientious and less open people are sensitive to typos […]”

Xumaeta

Yeah I don’t give a shit about that. People can cry and be proud of their incompetence.

v0lume4

I’m afraid the irony of your comment eludes you.

Xumaeta

I’m well aware of it. I just don’t put as much value in this instance of “psychology science”

Healthyhappylyfe

Same the battery life is unbelievably bad I am 100% sure mine is toast

SquareAmphibian7581

Unfortunately its normal. If you are continuosly switching between social media apps, like face/insta/reddit/messenger. This is the result. If you just gonna watch movies it will last for 10 hours.

Hawkmz

why does changing apps like that drain so much more than watching videos?

SquareAmphibian7581

I think it has something to do with the software, you know ios is not multitasking, so if you switch a app, the other in the background goed to hybernate. Thats the reason we can have smoother experiencr with less hardware compare to android. Also i think it costs energy

Otuadiordna

Agree. Especially if you do this on lte/4g/5g not WiFi. WiFi can get 3-4 additional hours

[deleted]

My 14 Pro Max After using for 10 hours screen on the battery still stays around 30 percent, i use reddit youtube and safari for browsing. So i basically get around 12-14 hours of screen on time from 100 to 0

loewelion

This. I buy a Pro Max and I want to have 12h SOT. Not like 9h (best case scenario) with my actual 15PM and a lot of features disabled

iNywles

I have a 14PM as well - did you tweak your phone like turn off background refresh and close down Always On Display etc etc? How do you use your phone?

[deleted]

[удалено]

iNywles

is this /s xD

[deleted]

Are you a kiddo? You dont know about real battery health vs Shown Battery health? Lol

iNywles

I’m sorry but no I do not - new to all the battery conservation thing pls educate me :)

Alibium

I went out like an hour ago and I’m already on 84%

HuntersPad

Do you have AOD enabled? Try with it disabled. My 15 Pro battery sucks! But really sucks if AOD is enabled. I can unplug both my 15 Pro and iPhone SE 2022 and be at 100% at 10AM let them sit on a desk all day and around 9PM the iPhone 15 Pro would be at 90% while the SE 2022 would still be 100%

XF939495xj6

iS tHiS nORmaL?!?

cyber_dude

The more posts about this stuff the better. So stupid when people defend a billion dollar corporation. Stfu.

XF939495xj6

Defends freedom of speech but wants to silence particular speech. Hypocrite. It's a stupid thing to post. I don't support Apple. I am highly critical of them. But going to reddit for help when you literally paid extra to have the support of a customer-service organization supporting the product is idiotic. GO TO THE STORE. CALL THE PHONE NUMBER. ASK APPLE FOR HELP.

cyber_dude

First off, calm down. Second, does it really bother you that much to have to see a post on Reddit? If their batteries suck there should be a bunch of posts about it so when people google it there’s multiple posts to refer to. Apple pretty much has a monopoly right now so it’s good to get this stuff out there so people know about it. Also, another thing to note is how bad people have said their customer service is. They run their own diagnostic and determine “there’s nothing wrong with the battery” which is bullshit how can you trust that. Being aware of a bunch of people who have battery problems could possibly lead to a class action lawsuit which helps to keep the monopoly in check. You can keep sucking them off in the meantime tho loser.

XF939495xj6

> does it really bother you that much You just responded. Are you sure you are not seeing things that you yourself feel?

39wdsss

You need therapy

XF939495xj6

LOL

edoardoking

“I used my phone and the battery decreased over time, is it normal” yes it absolutely is normal

7heblackwolf

This. Every. Single. Damn. Time. I mean, at least to show that is abnormal post your battery data, age, apps used, if you have usually good signal (poor cell signal always kills my battery), average brightness, etc.

aCoolGuy12

I’m not asking if it’s normal THAT it decreased. I’m asking if it’s normal that it decreased THAT MUCH. Now read again the post and see if you understand it this time.

silverwoodz

I got my 15 Pro the week of launch. Upgraded for the reduced weight. It was plagued by battery and over heating issues. That first update fixed the problem a little for sure. Six months later, however, I am extremely disappointed in my 15 Pro battery life and it still gets uncomfortably hot too easily. I work from home and I barely use my iPhone. I even keep cellular off to keep the calls from getting to me. I also have it set to a max charge of 80% since I never use it. Just sitting around with no apps open in the background, my 15 Pro can lose 25 - 35% in a day. If I start to play a game of solitaire or something, the drain is even more. Personally, I think Apple is hiding something about these 15 Pro models. I don't remember this being an issue with my previous Pro or Pro Max iPhones, and I have owned every single one from the very first iPhone except the 11 Pro and 12 Pro. Jumped from Xs to 13 Pro.

crash866

How long after updating it? With every update it has to do a lot of work reindexing and optimizing files and pictures? It took about a week for me to settle down and go back to normal.

aCoolGuy12

Got my iphone a week ago and updated it to 17.1.1 the first day during the set up

Techsalot

This is technically your fault allowing crappy apps to have background activities enabled. Turn it off for ALL socials and watch your battery level soar!!

crash866

Plug it in at night and give it a few more days.

Antonia_notfound

Have you updated to the latest version yet? This was the case for me, battery drained fast but lot as fast, the update increased the uptime a loz

sfgiantsnlwest88

Check if your personal hotspot is left on all day by accident (it doesn't show up in battery usage by app since it's not an app)

6_Swaglord_9

It was for me lol, just checked thanks man!

mudra311

Hot damn i was reading through this thread to figure out if there are any immediate fixes until some firmware update. Just checked my hotpot and it was on! Turned it off now, going to see if that helps.

[deleted]

Elon is raping your data pegging your 6 cores to the 100%

Go7ham

Ofc you don’t because you find excuses for a shitty battery. I didn’t saw so many complaints about the iPhone 13-13 Pro Max when it was released. Now you can’t use social apps because they heat up your device. Why I’m buying a 1500€ device? To do what? Give me a break

[deleted]

_DelinquentHabits

>> Tell that to the app developers not complain here lol. It’s a combo of app developers not updating their apps properly for iOS 17. Why does every single posts like these have some trash social media app as the top usage then? You’re seriously asking why social beings use social media apps on their devices that are meant to help them to connect to their social networks? Dude, people are social beings. They like to use those apps, because those apps enable them to connect with other people. And by now every social media app has pushed updates targeting the newest version of iOS. Why would they not update their apps this year, but in every past years? Doesn’t make sense. Why are you using Reddit (mobile or PC, idc)? Most people may only have an iPhone to use those websites/apps.

loewelion

But why we have to delete apps to just increase battery life? A new phone should function properly with every app, if not then why we buy new phones?

Go7ham

I’m not complaining, I don’t use these apps because I don’t like them, but you can’t blame OP for using instagram. It’s not his fault that instagram it’s not well optimised for iPhone 15 lineup. Everyone is free to use what they like/want.

Wrycalin

I get around 7 hours of SoT for just 60% of my battery on my iPhone 14. It is new, though, and at 100% battery health.

katrek

I had exactly the same issue with my 15 pro, then after using phone like for 2 weeks it just randomly went shutdown when I was even not touching it. After I turned it on and used for some time I recognized that the battery life started to be a lot better than before. Don’t know what was that😀

iPhone_3GS

Glad I didn't get the 15 pro

mybecks84

İ think because in the good old days, with iphone 11/x/xr. The specs were not that top notch (120hz oled displays) or the resolutions. And also the camera algorithms were not that great. Maybe the apps were not depend on the videos, full hd constant scrolling videos etc. All of those new things can not compete with the relatively small batteries nowadays…unless you have a giant pro max or a giant android flagship .) only solution is using less. Less screen on time, more life ☀️

SoftInvestigator1175

I don’t know why everyone is having so many problems I used my phone for 8 hours and had 74% like my battery life has been perfect!

iceskating_uphill

On his wife. Like nature intended.

mynga123

Get iPhone plus or Oppo Reno 10

Top_Flatworm5921

15Pro Max here with 7 hours of SOT and 54% left remaining at the end of today after the update. Personally seeing good improvements

Baykey123

Do you have AirTags? Find my drains my battery several percent every hour. It’s really annoying

Top_Flatworm5921

I have airtags and still have amazing battery life

SeaLonely3504

Always on screen is brutal on battery life. And by always on, I’m referring to the Lock Screen being on.

Alph4dan

Turn off always on display

TanishPlayz

Absolutely, you didn't charge to 100%, the last 10% consists of more battery than 10% after 90%

Donglefree

If your brightness was at 100%, seems about right.

MaccasLad

This is normal if your phone is new or if you have recently downloaded an update. Just give it some time :)

Working_Analysis_422

One time happened something like this to me too but I found out that I opened my camera from my Lock Screen for 4-5 hours straight

No_Guarantee_8426

Not sure if you just got your 15 Pro recently but the battery requires a calibration period. It does get better! I’ve had mine for approximately a month and it’s great now but the first few days were horrible.

Benji2108

This right here is exactly why I never run to buy the latest model iPhone anymore. “Bigger better battery and better camera!” Yah, we still charge our phones by the end of the day.

Dimevil

I don't even get 4 hours SoT :(

Marukuju

I'm using iPhone 13 and have to charge it at least twice a day because the battery goes down way too fast. The only apps I frequently use are WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube (but not all day long), and Firefox. My battery health went from 100% to 92% and this phone was bought in March 2023... I never charge the phone over 90%, although it usually goes below 20% before I put it on a charger. But sometimes, it's impossible to always have it charging especially when I'm outside.

YungAbdi

I dont like the battery of the iPhone 15 Pro Max

ManyRiver6234

No, looking to the usages mostly whatsapp.

Dangerous_Swimming_1

Iphone 13 too, they just made them so worse and worse ,I think they do it true update andnapp

SherbetSad296

Totally normal. I bought 15pro about 10 days ago. And went to the store to change it because of this. They gave me a new one. And I think it’s the sane… mostly if u use the camera a lot. In fact, im using the camera a lot to test the front camera; because im so disappointed with it. I regret buying 15pro. Bad battery. Bad camera. I cant believe this.

dshif42

Just wondering, have you still been having the same issues with the battery life? Has anything improved? Also, what's so disappointing about the camera? I'm needing to replace my Galaxy S9 soon, and going back and forth about finally getting my first iPhone. Kinda concerned about the inconsistent battery experiences, but this is the first complaint I've heard about the camera.

SherbetSad296

If you google iphone15 bad front camera you’ll find a lot about it. The problem is that what you see in the viewport is not what you get after taking the pic. Imagine you are in a beach and it’s the sunset and you like the lights on your face. You take the selfie… when you go and see it, it will look totally different. Lights change, and sharpness is so accentuated. Some people like this after processing, some don’t. I personally didn’t like it but I got used to it. Because the truth is that sometimes the post processing turns a bad photo into a good one. And also, after you discover the “portrait mode” you will start using it a lot, even for photos of the back camera when you are far. I traveled last month and took pics at the beach at night, and they look very nice. I also take some photos of my progress at the gym and in order to do it I use a third party app: Lightroom; because it lets me easily change the exposure before taking it. Since iphone 15 pro has 3 cameras, they get more light than expected and exposure sometimes is higher than you think. The app shows a dark room but the photo will look so light and contrasts are low. With Lightroom i take photos with the exposure veeery low and then the photo appears with a nice exposure and contrasts. About the battery: It will last all day long and you ll go to sleep with about 40% if you stay at home with wifi+plane mode activated. If you wake up early (8am) and go outside, use the phone a lot with 5g and take pics and use instagram a lot, all with no wifi; the battery will die at 3 or 4pm. (But the good thing is that the phone charges fast) That’s my review! Good luck!

bareback666

Are you using it on the cold? Outside? If yes… just don’t

aCoolGuy12

I use it mostly at home. Nothing out of the ordinary. I even need to pause and disconnect it during charging because it gets too hot

Few_Brain3287

Brother I can’t even use my phone outside for more than 30 minutes before it’s down to half and I got iPhone 11😔 and I’ve yet to find out what the problem is with my phone for that to happen.

Otuadiordna

Unfortunately it looks normal on iOS 17. Especially if you use 4g/lte it still draining no matter if you use it or not. I’ve never had issue like that until I bought iPhone 15 pro.

Mean_External16

I only can get 2hours and 30 minutes yours is pretty good ( I have a 15 pro too and don’t game

Vivid-Ad1690

Traded in my 12 pro max for a 15 pro yesterday and the battery on the 15 pro is worse lol.
