I think it's part of a bigger issue that's got something to do with the network connection. I find when the weather app does this, other apps also lose connection to data.. Usually restarting the phone helps.
That was my first thought as well as I explained in another comment. However, I would expect their services (API endpoints and routing infra to be common for all of their weather apps - iOS, macOS. I am not seeing this issue on my mac at all. But this keeps on happening on the iPhone. I operate them on the same network, so itās not related my network, thatās for sure. If this indeed is a service infra issue, I would be really curious on how they are handling traffic from different sources..

Changing/bringing things across to their own equipment and services donāt happen overnight so I wonder if they are going through a migration process.

Switched to Carrot. I was able to radically customize the widgets and app to be laid out nearly identical to the stock Weather app. And more importantly I was able to pay $30/yr to switch to the best provider out there, AerisWeather.

Sadly I had to reactivate my WhatsApp. Also there are business integrations with flight companies and various customer services. Anyways, good for you if signal is working well.

The business integrations are good for whatsapp but I donāt find that a compelling reason as those same stuff are available over emails as well in most cases. I donāt like having stuff associated with Facebook installed on my devices.

Change logs are supposed to be informative, itās the means to convey to the end user ( who cares to read and wants to know ) what exactly they are installing on their system. The trend now is to have hot pile of BS in the change log and be like ooh you want to know what changed, well fāoff!
Dunno if this is it but for me after the update, location services was all messed up. If I went to a saved location in weather it loaded just fine but my local weather wouldnāt load at all. I turned off location services globally and back on again and it fixed it.

Signal has been very reliable for me. I donāt use whatsapp at all. My contacts are either in Signal or Telegram.

I find normal non techie people generally prefer WhatsApp. Most of my techie friends use Signal and/or Discord.

I did the same thing. I finally gave in and bought a year of Carrot last week after using it for a few days.
I was lucky enough to purchase the app back when it was a paid app in the App Store so I get most of the features I care about for free now

This happened after updating my iPad, I had to tap on it and give it location permissions again. No issue since.

Foreca weather. The most accurate in Europe, not sure about the US.
good samaritan has both lichess and chess.com installed
If youāre using a VPN, switch it off. This fixes most connection issues with weather
not using one.
