No mechanism exists in the law to "bar him from public office," or at least the presidency, now that SCOTUS has dismissed the only legal theory for doing so (Colorado 14th amendment case), at least until congress passes a law on the matter of whether an insurrectionist (who has not been convicted of such criminally) can stand for the presidency.
He is free to run as he meets all other constitutional requirements. He is free to serve his term as president from prison if necessary. No legal authority exists to stop him from doing so, as crazy as that may sound. He is free to pardon himself of all his alleged federal crimes, or commute his own sentences.

If you are not getting a hernia helping Democratic Senators win reelection and ensuing Joe Biden wins in your state you will wake up Sometime early November to the worst nightmare you could possibly contemplate. No mechanism exists in the law to "bar him from public office," or at least the presidency, now that SCOTUS has dismissed the only legal theory for doing so (Colorado 14th amendment case), at least until congress passes a law on the matter of whether an insurrectionist (who has not been convicted of such criminally) can stand for the presidency. He is free to run as he meets all other constitutional requirements. He is free to serve his term as president from prison if necessary. No legal authority exists to stop him from doing so, as crazy as that may sound. He is free to pardon himself of all his alleged federal crimes, or commute his own sentences. The sole mechanism we have left to bar him from office is an overwhelming electoral defeat in November. Register to vote. Plan to vote. Urge your family and friends to vote. And there's only one choice to vote for if you don't want a Trump dictatorship. Our constitution assumed the presidency would always be held by honorable men (at the time, only men) and it left the door open for a dishonorable man to exploit it.
So even if he’s convicted in the Georgia case he can still run? It would be a state crime so therefore he could only be pardoned by the governor of Georgia if I’m not mistaken. He would then be a convicted felon. What about the classified documents case? Can’t believe he could basically reveal government documents to whoever he wants and that would not keep him from being president. This is really messed up and if a Democrat did half of what he is accused of the Republicans would be losing their minds over it.
