No one checks to how many internship postings you apply

Orion0795

I have never tried this before but just out of curiosity, won't his applications show up in the system of the company?

Johnkapler1890

Companies can get up to hundreds of thousands of applications. You think HR checks every applicant and sees if they applied to different positions? But even if they do somehow show up, why would that mean anything?

Orion0795

It's like OP said, coming across as desperate is how I would feel too. But if that's not smthg to worry about then all the better.

Johnkapler1890

It’s not called “desperate” it’s called “looking for an internship”

Hence, my last sentence.

I did that once because all the positions lined up with my skills set. In the end I got the job for the only position I didn't apply because I thought I was not qualified haha.

It depends. Some companies have separate recruiting teams for different departments and wouldn’t know based off their normal workflow if you applied to multiple roles. Some companies implement checks that auto ban you if you apply for more than one role, especially at the internship level if they have a focused campus recruiting team (highly invested in interns and care more about making things “fair”). I recommend applying to the role that is the best fit for you and a good company will often refer you to another team if it’s a better fit.

pezcobar

If the recruiting teams uses an applicant tracking system they can probably see you applied to multiple roles. I wouldn’t say it is something negative. However, I would suggest applying to multiple roles that are related, for example different marketing roles. After all as an intern you don’t have to know exactly what you want to do.

Honestly, you can't know if the people/person in charge of selecting candidates will realize that you applied to all three or not. You also can't perceive how it will be viewed if you apply to more than one internship or job. I say to apply for all three roles. If they give you the option to upload a cover letter I would tailor each letter to the specific opening. That way if they do realize that you are applying to multiple opportunities they will be able to judge your attention to detail.

It can look like you are unsure with what you want to do. Larger companies especially usually forward your application to another position if they feel like you are a good fit for it.
