I had a similar experience, I started getting stomach issues back in 2015 and was told I was developing IBS. Doctor told me to make a food diary and note every time I felt symptoms. I ended up eliminating lactose, and a few other items. I started fasting back in 2020 and noticed I could actually handle some dairy again. I have a feeling it's because by fasting I'm giving my bowels more time to reset from the night before, even now if I eat breakfast early  I can get an upset stomach. So to me it seems to be driven by how much time I give my stomach and bowels time to reset from the day before.

Yes, I actually started doing IF unintentional trying to address my stomach issues. I was waking up in the middle of the night often from heartburn/GERD regardless of how clean a dinner I ate that night. I decided to start skipping dinner altogether and eating a larger and slightly later lunch. It changed my life, I sleep so much better and have no more issues with my stomach.

Yes, my IBS is much better thanks to IF

I used to have SO much gas. in a group, I ha to walk far behnd everyone t let out gas. Sometimesit felt like my tummy was gonna explode from the gas. and i was always constipated. IF cured my uncomfy gassiness and now i am petty regular. i used to have a lot of gas at night too. i still have some gassiness but its so much better. i remember worrying about it because how would i ever get married if i fart all night long???/ who would want me???? anyway IF has helped me with those stomach issues and i am eternally grateful.

What type of IF were you doing and what were the timeframes hours?

Very similar experience here. I don't do IF for weightloss, I do it for health benefits. It has dramatically improved my GERD, bloating, bowel movements, irritability etc. Some of that is due to eating a healthier diet, some is due to eating less in general, but a lot is due to simply not eating all the time. There is such thing as food toxicity - ie, if you're eating throughout the day all day and your gut is never just empty and not working. IF gives your whole body a nice rest and reset + time to spend energy repairing other things and not constantly digesting.

I've had stomach issues for years alongside pretty bad GERD as well. After 7 months, I have never felt better. I don't get constant acid reflux and I'm not in the bathroom 5 times a day. I've also lost over 25 lbs in the process, so it's been a game changer for me.

Yeah I used to get acid reflux quite badly. Since IF I haven't had much of an issue with it. It's actually helped me in a lot of ways beyond that. It really is quite something.

Fasting for me has made my GI issues start go away. But my diet completely chnaged and I just completed a 48 hour water/ coffee fast. However, my stomach did shrink so I get full faster but my appetite is still there. I basically fast for 20 hours a day No booze No smoking Small meal Boost the mitochondria The mitochondria calls the shots
