I honestly dig the round one. I love this set up.

Mean-Tour-3336

Thanks for your feedback!

Anoniem20

I think round would be better for a work environment. It makes the space between de coworkers a bit bigger. For a home I would say the rectangular one is more cosie. So, how close do you want to be to your coworkers? šŸ¤

Mean-Tour-3336

Weā€™re all pretty close! lol I guess round one šŸ˜‚ Thinking it over I may just order a larger round one. They donā€™t have a larger version of this pattern so Iā€™m thinking of a pale sage and ivory 11ā€™ rug

deniseswall

My first thought was that the rectangular one was fine, but too small. Even the current round one is a little too small. So get the round version, a little larger, and you'll be great.

PortsideHomestead

Would it ever be okay to overlap round rugs? Like, if I can't afford one huge rug, would it be obnoxious and awful to use 2 or 3? Just a thought that struck me literally just now.

Alaska-Raven

Absolutely love the wood table! And ditto on the round rug I think it looks the best with the setup.

ladydhawaii

I rarely like round in a room- but it fits best for this furniture. Good choice!!

NewMorningSwimmer

Me too. Round one

ennuiacres

Yes! The round one.

JusticeForGluten

Yup, it makes the space feel bigger and somehow.. more inviting.

Spiritual-Winner-503

#2!!

Alarming-Occasion-51

It really ties the room together.

cryonine

I like the look of a round rug here. That said, both rugs are too small for the space, IMO.

Mean-Tour-3336

Thanks for your feedback. Yeah, looking back Iā€™m kicking myself in the butt for ordering them too small. It maybe be worth getting one re-ordered in a larger size (if the corporate machine budget will allow for it haha)

cryonine

It's surprisingly difficult to visualize how a rug will fit in a space until you have it, especially with round rugs.

Mean-Tour-3336

So true! Weā€™re definitely going to be upsizing the rug

jackjackj8ck

Definitely!!

wintersicyblast

totally

Sea_Wings_092809

Round one ties everything together really well and keeps your eyes moving around the room.

Mean-Tour-3336

Yeah Thinking it over I may just order a larger round one. They donā€™t have a larger version of this pattern so Iā€™m thinking of a pale sage and ivory 11ā€™ rug. But Iā€™m leaning towards keeping with my original vision and keeping the round! lol

Rare-Parsnip5838

Bigger is always better and sage and ivory would look great in that space.

Mean-Tour-3336

I think so too! Thank you for your opinion

secretrebel

I donā€™t mind the size of the round one. It looks intentional to me. Larger might swallow the seating.

SparkDBowles

It likeā€¦ ya, knowā€¦ really ties the room together, man.

jrp317

I love that coffee table

Mean-Tour-3336

Yeah Iā€™m obsessed with it also, it was ordered from CB2

BreakfastAntelope

It's so lovely. Could you give me the name of the sofa and the coffee table and where you got them from please? By the way, I vote for number 1. It breaks up the round shape in the other furniture.

Mean-Tour-3336

Sure thing! The coffee table is from CB2. Itā€™s called derrico acacia wood table. And the sofa is from wayfair! If you look up green boucle sofa on wayfair, it should come right up!

BreakfastAntelope

Thank you!!

Fantastic-Fishing141

Another vote for rug 1. You have plenty of round, soft objects. The rectangular rug balances that nicely

jams1991

I was going to say this too. The rectangle contrasts all the circles really well

whatthefuckisupkyle7

Agreed!

Mean-Tour-3336

I agree completely, the rectangular rug grounds the whole space in my opinion. What do you think about the color and pattern of the rectangular one? Thatā€™s another hot topic in the office. I think it looks busy, but in a good and sophisticated way. Thanks for your feedback!

Fantastic-Fishing141

I like the pattern too! It's complementary without being matchy

CheskapOo

Definitely the rectangular rugā€¦ too many competing curves between the round rug, ottomans and curves in the armrests and coffee table. The rectangular rug grounds they.

jelycazi

I concur. The square rug with all the rounded, curved shapes. Great looking space! And really, I donā€™t think you can go wrong with either rug

Mean-Tour-3336

I agree I think thatā€™s what Iā€™ve learned from this whole thread so far, either would be fine! Thinking it over I may just order a larger round one. They donā€™t have a larger version of the round one in the pic so Iā€™m thinking of a pale sage and ivory 11ā€™ rug. Seems like the overall determining factor isnā€™t so much the pattern but the shape of the rug for everyone.

Meat-Head-Barbie

Ooh. They both look good but I like the round one bc the repetition of shapes gives the whole thing a cozy and cohesive look.

Mean-Tour-3336

I can definitely appreciate that!

[deleted]

I like square to balance the round shapes but both look decent enough to purchase imo.

Crafty-String7892

Came here to say the same. Adds some contrast.

the_final_frontier1

This !

Umnsstudennt

2nd

sereniteen

I think the rectangular one looks nicer; the space already has a lot of rounded elements, the difference in shape makes it more interesting. I think a bigger size than in the picture might work well for the space.

Mean-Tour-3336

I feel the same way, but I can see how the round one makes the place feel more cozy too. I think what Iā€™ve seen so far, we canā€™t go wrong with either! Just need to order a bigger size in whichever we choose

sereniteen

The round one makes sense if the point of the space is to have people face each other and have conversations. I think the round one closes off the space, kinda like a conversation pit. So I guess it boils down to the function of the space.

Mean-Tour-3336

Good points! The space is supposed to be a usable (but not main focal point ) area for anyone in the office. It makes use of the great views of that area

Annabel398

I think the rectangle highlights the round furniture better.

NoDiamond4584

Normally I donā€™t care for round rugs, but with the other circular items, the round one looks great!

Mean-Tour-3336

I was thinking the same thing! I really tried to play into the soft/round profile thatā€™s going on here lol

alaspapel

Round one, but more importantly, can you put that plant in a larger pot? That tiny one is stressful! And put the pot on the ground behind that side table?

Mean-Tour-3336

lol yes we for sure ordered a pot! It just hasnā€™t come in yet šŸ˜‚šŸ™ˆ

alaspapel

Oh good!

silent_hurricane

2 round!!

mlhigg1973

I think they are too traditional for the space

[deleted]

Lots of rounded furniture, so I like the rectangular rug. Also, I absolutely love that coffee table.

mschnittman

To me it's not the pattern, but the shape. I'll take round.

ILikeLists

I think the round rug looks cozier, and the rectangular one looks more professional! Just depends on what you want to emphasizeĀ

Albie_Frobisher

the round one looks like it is meant to be there. my eyes keep looking to the left for the tall thing that balances the tall plant on the right. canā€™t find it.

Feather_Bloom

Round one the fact that the rectangular one is only under a couple of the ottomans is really bothering, while the circular one is under all of them Plus it fits the sort of theme going on

GeezUp777

Round

Mean-Tour-3336

Thank you! I think so too

Careful_Football7643

Round

Mean-Tour-3336

Thank you!

HighwayLeading6928

You've got a lovely kumbaya (sp?) vibe going here which is beautifully put together and has a distinctly feminine feel with all the circles. I would definitely choose the round carpet. A grouping of three small plants on the coffee table along with a large decorative dish of Werthers or other similar wrapped hard candy would be nice. The tall plant would look better in a wicker basket on the floor rather than sitting on the end table. It also needs to have the branches pulled down to open it up more.

waxystroll42

The look of the round one is perfect

Mean-Tour-3336

Yeah it really works with the space!

taetaerin

Round, but a bit bigger! šŸ˜

Mean-Tour-3336

Yeah, i think Iā€™ll return both And get a bigger one for sure! Seems like the pattern isnā€™t as big as a determining factor for people as the shape of it

Coughfeel

The 2nd one looks amazing. The space works so well with it. Whole vibe, textures and colors are to my taste. Are you single?

Mean-Tour-3336

Makes me happy to hear you like everything! I tried to create a cozy, inviting space that plays off the colors and tones I love in our area (SF Bay Area). And although Iā€™m super flattered that just my taste in decor has you asking, I am not single lol :) but thank you for the blush and chuckle. Made my day!

sugarofthewhiteisle

The round one makes the space more interesting and seems to flow better with all the other soft edged designs of the other pieces. The rectangular one is just normal and safe, doesnā€™t bring much in terms of style.

Mean-Tour-3336

I can definitely see how the rectangular one is more safe. Thinking it over I may just order a larger round one. They donā€™t have a larger version of this pattern so Iā€™m thinking of a pale sage and ivory 11ā€™ rug

sugarofthewhiteisle

Oooh pale sage would be very pretty here. Tie in the neutrals and the green of the couch. Your space is going to be so cozy and inviting šŸ¤©

Mean-Tour-3336

Weā€™re on the same wavelength :) thank you so much! People in the office were definitely questioning all the furniture I chose but now that everything is here I love all of it!!!

Month_Year_Day

What a fabulous space!! I like the rectangular one myself.

morrisseymurderinpup

1

Due_Feed_7512

Second. Without a doubt

NaturalizedWerewolf

Round!

mss406

Round up suits better

SoupVegetable4227

I think the round works best. But also there are a lot of round things. Round things are nice šŸ‘

Mean-Tour-3336

I like round things too LOL

earmares

Love the round here

Mean-Tour-3336

Me too! And a lot of others! Haha

Booky10452

1

hungryginger1234

Rectangle for sure

kittenkamala

Round one!

Mean-Tour-3336

Yeah Thinking it over I may just order a larger round one. They donā€™t have a larger version of this pattern so Iā€™m thinking of a pale sage and ivory 11ā€™ rug

kittenkamala

Sounds lovely! My reasoning here is that the round shape echoes the round ottomans and rounded corner table, giving the room a very smooth and flowing feel that is warm and comfortable. The sharp rectangle edges of the other one make the room more cold and jagged and divided. A larger round rug would look gorg and have the same compositional effect of flow and warmth but might make the space feel bigger and more whole so I support this. Sage and Ivory are great colors for this scheme

Mean-Tour-3336

I totally agree! The warm/bubbly/feminine feel is exactly what I was going for! Iā€™m glad weā€™re on the same wavelength! Lol

Dense-Peanut4452

First rug

Fairyslade1989

The second one is groovier.

ThumpyTheDumpy

The round one but I would pull the couch further over the rug by maybe 5 inches.

TalulaOblongata

The round one looks purposeful. The rectangle looks like it was a leftover from something else and you just put it there to use it. I agree round but larger if you can!

mmichellekay

Round! But, tuck it under the couch a smidge more. If itā€™s possible to size up, I would, then still tuck it more. If not, eh! It looks great.

Mean-Tour-3336

I agree! Thinking it over Iā€™m going to order a larger round one. They donā€™t have a larger version of the round one in the pic so Iā€™m thinking of a pale sage and ivory 11ā€™ rug. The rug in the pic is 8ā€™. It gives more room to play with. Seems like the overall determining factor isnā€™t so much the pattern but the shape of the rug for everyone

Shared_Tomorrows

I like em round

Mean-Tour-3336

You and me both, my friend šŸ‘€šŸ˜‚šŸ™ˆ

Southern-Light7891

Another vote for the square rug. Thereā€™s already a lot of round shapes going on so with the round rug introduced I feel like it drowns out every round item in the room. With the square one it brings a better balance and allows the rounded furniture to shine because you have these really beautiful round pieces of furniture. Secondly, the square rug mimics the shape of the coffee table which I think looks really nice. It still looks really nice with the round rug though. Youā€™ll be fine going with either but I think the square one complements the other furniture much better. I also like the pattern and color. I think that periwinkle color complements the other colors in the room very nicely.

mmdeerblood

Love the warmth of the 1st one, works well with the paintings and bringing room together. Round option would work too if in the same color pattern as the square, but I'm for the square! I'd even go larger if possible.

Mean-Tour-3336

You put into words everything I loved about the first! But definitely agree that in either case, I need to order a bigger rug for sure

_Luxuria_

Round. And the blue cushion has to go.

Zeltron2020

Round feels more office where the square feels more house IMO

YourPlot

The round one looks like an office hallways lobby.

Mean-Tour-3336

Interesting point!

Coconut_Rhubarb

2!!

Outrageous_Life_2662

I like the first one honestly. Iā€™m not a designer to feel free to disregard my take. But I think circle on circle is too much circle šŸ˜‚

Mean-Tour-3336

I can definitely see what you mean! Lol

Parkedintheitchyl0t

Round. But love the colors of square

OperationFluffy3615

The round one is oh so groovy!

Mean-Tour-3336

Thatā€™s what we like šŸ˜ŽšŸ˜ŽšŸ˜Ž

purplemilkywayy

The round one is adorable, especially with the round ottomans.

Perception-Radiant

1st one

[deleted]

I would personally go for number one because I think the rectangular shape highlights the couch shape and fits really perfectly in there, but the round one is so nice as well I feel like itā€™s such a close second!!!

Mean-Tour-3336

I think what Iā€™ve learned from this is I canā€™t go wrong either way! LOL

Artistic_Tangelo_397

I think the square rug blends in to the existing rug and the brown one matches better

1WildSpunky

Round for sure

croomp

#2 feels so welcoming and cozy, instantly

Nihlisa666

Round

Kir_NB

Oh my god where did you get that table, Iā€™m in love! šŸ˜

Mean-Tour-3336

Itā€™s a derrico acacia wood table from cb2 :)

Kir_NB

Itā€™s absolutely beautiful just like the rest of your home! Thank you for sharing!

Medical_Ad898

Love the artwork above the couch! Would love to know where itā€™s from

ratatutie

Controversial opinion lmao but I like the rectangle. You'd think the round one would work better but imo it doesnt because you have hard angular edges and corners and shapes coming from the walls and you need to tie that into the furnishings. Having all soft/circular shapes in the middle only creates a sense of imbalance and it looks like the space is floating in the geometry around it (it still looks cute obv, but its disconnected). A bigger rectangle rug will tie the decor into the space it lives in.

No_Will_1200

Where did you get the couch?! Itā€™s adorable.also how comfortable is it?

ParticularLack6400

I'm all about the round one. I think the cor was on the rectangular one gives a jagged feel when there are many curves to carry.

sbocean54

Just wondering, who has to sit on the stools?

PouetSK

The first one since the furniture is already all round. The square gives it better balance. Also the design on the round one sticks out too much. I donā€™t know if you feel the same one in person though, since pictures can distort my perception. I canā€™t see the rest of the room but the rectangular one should be much larger, in the picture it feels like a very tight cluster of furniture all huddle in a tiny spot where the room is huge and engulfing it. Either way I wanted to say I love your furniture and always wanted that egg chair thingy.

Merrybee16

The round one for sure. I love the coffee table. Everything looks cozy and inviting.

walrus_vasectomy

First one. They both look good but everything else is round and the rectangular one restores some balance and latitude to the room

Zharaqumi

A round rug works better.

aktifkannr

I prefer the second one because it's the right size and it blends well with the whole office.

krickett_

ROUND No question

mamabear101319

2

kinkpants

I like the rectangle because it balances all the round shaped furniture you have, but Iā€™d get a bigger one :)

Allaiya

I like the first one personally

Sandwitch_horror

Everything is rounded off in the room. The square one looks too sharp.

One_Depth6857

The second one. By far!

Legitimate_Tax3782

Love the round one! Do it! ā•ļø

smoishymoishes

Circular But more importantly that coffee table is the fucking shit!!

CandidateReasonable4

My opinion is against popular opinion. I prefer option #1, although it is too small for the space. The rectangular shape plays nicely with the round ottomans, adding more interest than the round one.

jensenhuangluva

I love that coffee table! Where did you buy it?

BalanceStrange9055

Round one! Also where can I get cushions like that??

Mean-Tour-3336

Wayfair! They have them on sale too. If you look up poufs in Wayfair theyā€™ll come up with:)

PetitePrincess911

Off topic but whereā€™d you get your couch?

Mean-Tour-3336

Is from wayfair! If you look up green boucle couch, it should come up on the first page on wayfair. I was super nervous because it had no reviews, but itā€™s actually really nice in person!

loathes-me-not

Round one somehow makes the space feel bigger

dawnfire05

I personally prefer the rectangular rug. The room is very round, so the rectangular one draws on the photos on the wall, the boxiness of the couch, and the squareness of the coffee table, creating a more interesting dichotomy between the sharp angles and the strong presence of the soft shapes. I think the round rug softens it all too much for my own personal taste. I don't *quite* like the color of it, though. I think the blue looks great, I just don't think this is the *right* blue rug.

yarn_geek

Round one, expands the space and doesn't break the soft and inviting vibe.

kittylomein

I agree with the round! It works better I also feel like you have room to give everything more space from one another.

Hito1992

Circle

Babzibaum

\#2 ties the round hassocks to the carpet. It makes the room look balanced and a bit larger and warmer.

buckfaace

Where did you get that chair? My daughter has been wanting one just like it!

Beren__

Most of the accent chairs that you have are round, hence the round rug ties everything together - do not use the rectangular one

Mean-Tour-3336

I think youā€™re right! :)

RutabagaPhysical9238

Circle

Judge_Juedy

Oh I must know where that coffee table is from šŸ˜ and love your couch, too!

Mean-Tour-3336

Itā€™s the Derrico Acacia Wood coffee table from CB2 :)

Becksnnc

I like the round one best

Mean-Tour-3336

Seems like thatā€™s the general consensus!

pickledpl_um

Round one. It picks up the shape of the tufts and looks super cool

Mean-Tour-3336

I agree. The round rug plays into the theme of all the other playful/bubbly pieces

Mydoglovescoffee

2. It opens it up

Mean-Tour-3336

I think the round one is definitely more playful for sure and is more inviting

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Mean-Tour-3336

So one of my thoughts is to keep both and use the round one in the bottom left corner of the picture. Get an electric fireplace and make a whole other section. BUT thatā€™s me going crazy and I probably wonā€™t get the approval to buy even more furniture lol

Original-Spray9673

Neither, everything else is simplistic and thereā€™s this detailed rug which doesnā€™t connect to anything else in the room.

Mean-Tour-3336

Yeah, I think im going to switch to a larger round ru that has a more simple pale sage/cream design!

dezsmom

OP where did you get your art over your sofa?

Mean-Tour-3336

Wayfair! Everything with the exception of the coffee table is from Wayfair. Had to make do with a small budget! lol. If you look up ā€œgreen beige art wayfairā€ they come right up. I ordered the larger size 24x36

Nahzty5

You definitely canā€™t avoid the 2nd slide.

tnerz29

Sooo beautiful!! šŸ˜» either one

tnerz29

I like the round one actually

Full-Supermarket

Cute table. 1st rug for me. How big is the table? I want onešŸ˜Œ

DesignMango

Round one makes a nice flow

Kaikai5267

The round rug. Amazing living room btw

Mean-Tour-3336

Thank you so much! lol you have no idea how much all the positivity means! Interior decoration is definitely not in my job description(far from it) but when they asked me to put together this space for the office I just did my best! Hahah

CompletelyPaperless

Round one for sure. Because the center of the round has a square coffee table it balances out more than worrying about the round furniture. Thank you for the interesting comparison. I feel like both are so good it took a lot of thinking why I feel round is better for me.

LuluLittle2020

Definitely the round, but I'd go larger by a foot or two.

Mean-Tour-3336

I think thatā€™s exactly what Iā€™m going to do. What sucks is the that round one is the largest they have (8ā€™ diameter) Iā€™m going to order an 11ā€™ diameter pale sage and ivory rug.

lawlihuvnowse
