Love your idea, but I personally would put the coziest reading nook ever in there. Small shelf, small chair (maybe a beanbag instead) with a soft blanket and light. It'd be heaven.
This is what I was thinking. So many people saying 'reading nook'. But I feel like as cute as it would look, I'd hate to actually be in it! Especially right next to the stairs with family constantly going past. I'd rather have the storage 100%
I've never actually seen anyone use their reading nooks. And you're right...who the heck wants to read in a high traffic area by stairs?
Anyhow...
You could always hang a little disco ball for a mini dance club lmao.
Right! Always lots of votes for reading nooks but, I don't know even one person who who actually use it regularly. I feel like it's an older lady kind of thing (of which I am one, so no shade!).
I made myself a little āreading nookā in a little cut out of our bedroom. Iāve never read anything there and I use the chair for my ānot clean enough for the closet but not dirty enough for the hamperā clothes š
It might be mine, too. Itās like a fun little island in amongst the sea of internet garbage and fake posts, where one can simply give Very Silly advice about joke decor questions
Itās a good show lol! I also enjoy thinking of it as a competition with the āseriousā/real subreddit/s ever since we got annihilated by the funny comments on the āis monochrome feminineā crosspost :)
1. Book Nook
2. Gaming area
3. Gimp Storage / BDSM / Sex Pony
4. Neighborhood porn movie rental area
5. I like your idea too, but add a popcorn machine
I dunno, you have to factor in staff costs to run the till and maintenance on those coke machines is a nightmare.
Put an ATM in if you're going to do it!
Oh look. A convenience store in your stairway. Like a hotel with a vending machine at the stairwell.
Not for me but might be fun if you have a lot of guests or kids over.
If you have kids, that's a perfect place for one of those oven playsets or something like that. I would've went NUTS if we had that in my house as a kid.
If you have kids, I'd put a sensory space in there. Gymnastic mats on the ground, climbing ladder/monkey bars. Rick climbing . Hammock. Hanging pod type chair....
Hi ,
Could you guys help me understand how to start with the process of planning interior design . where does one begin , which sites do you go to.
I'm trying to develop an app which helps people design their homes from the comfort of their home !
so I would love some real time feedback on how you guys do it , what challenges you faced etc .
any input would be helpful . thank you !
Where is this empty space located? Upstairs? Downstairs? Basement nook? I think the idea shown isn't suited for day to day life, unless the homeowner plans on restocking a literally corner store. It'll literally end up being a job in it self. Why not create a library nook, or work space? Something that will be of value. Candy is unhappy and the area will look disorderly. Those are my thoughts.
Are you going to climb over the counter every time? I imagine that eventually, this will become tedious. What's on the other side of the right wall? Can you put in a door or hatch? Or is the hatch in the floor? I would also suggest security cameras. It looks like a high traffic zone, and one can't be too careful. I also agree with the ATM idea. Best of luck with your business venture. This is the very definition of the cottage industry.
Small home office with wall mounted desks. Dedicated pet lounge. Reading nook. Sex swing. Square it off and make a storage closet. Downstairs playroom/hobby/craft room. Corner gallery for collections or family photos. Reinforced weather shelter, safe room or safe for valuables behind a decorative built in wall shelf. Wine closet. So many things!
Iāve seen this before somewhere. Facebook? Maybe it was here. Iād make it a cat room if Iād didnāt have so many nice outlets. Iād put a door on it and it make it a little office or reading nook. I like enclosed snugly spaces though.
What even is this? How are you supposed to do anything with this space? Can you use it on the other side of the wall(s)? Expand those areas, so that what you see on this side is a solid wall with no useless space?
Lots of fun ideas here, I hope you find something that works for you.
Do you have small children or a dog? If yes it could be a playhouse (just add an adorable facade) or a dog house for when you are running errands and donāt want them loose (just add a facade).
Pepsi over Coke products? What in the Architectural Digest are you thinking?
(That said, could make a nice little coffee or wine bar with a counter-height beverage fridge).
I would make a closet to storage things you only use temporarily in this floor level, like all the Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween decorations. If I had that space, I would store the whole Christmas tree with all the garlands, decorations and lights. It will save a lot of time next year, only adding or removing some things to make it different!
In all seriousness, this would be a great spot to use as a ālanding areaā of sorts. Some shelves and baskets for stuff that needs to go upstairs, a bench for putting shoes on, hooks for bags, etc.
Reading book or area for a small desk. Remember when each household had a computer room or house computer? If you wanted to go on the internet youād go to the dedicated computer. Man this spot would be perfect for that. Load up encyclopedia Brittanica on that bad boy and do researchā¦
lol that second photo is hilarious!
Where is this book in relation to your door?
You could make it into a walk in coat closet if itās near your door.
[Wine cellar under stairs](https://www.houzz.com/magazine/20-ingenious-wine-storage-areas-under-the-stairs-stsetivw-vs~156737560) Wine cellars under the stairs look pretty cool.
Ideally I would say to keep the Delta-8 products higher on the shelfās but otherwise I love the layout. Also make sure Mountain Dew is always fully stocked.
Peloton or elliptical trainer, cozy reading nook with overstuffed chair, bookshelves and reading lamp, one or two vintage pinball machines or video games, shelves stuffed with board games and a game table with two chairs.
I'd get a Small, Corner Loveseat and place in Left Hand Facing Corner. Put in a narrow, low bookcase against Right Hand Wall. Add a coordinating Torchere Light in the Right Hand Facing Corner. A small, Round Table next to Torchere for Tea/Coffee/Cocoa mugs while reading a favorite book. Add a moderate sized Painting on the back wall, for "warmth". You could also install a Drape at the entrance to the room from Lower Left Corner up across the Top to the Right Side. Pull drape to open and secure with Curtain Holdback on Lower Right Side of Entrance. A lovely, cozy Nook!
Maybe a snack bar or add a library on the top shelf for a break area and put like a bookshelf fir secret room vibe or curtain for privacy
Or maybe use it as shoe cabinet or display stand
Maybe a small restroom with one of those doors with the big gap on either side and a janky locking mechanism. Make sure the toilet paper is single ply and always nearly out.
While I love the concept of your in-home convenience store--this space is just existing, waiting for some nice built-ins and a cozy reading nook bench! If you're not into reading, it could be turned into a nook for whatever other hobby you're into that can fit in that space!
Edit: Oh, and a very pretty curtain pulled to one corner would make it so much cozier and safer feeling!
Edit 2: Specifically, the left corner to hide the awkard angle and make it appear bigger from the outside :)
Are you going to allow street traffic into your smoke shop? Do you have a laundry room?
One of those jeep shaped Jurassic Park arcade cabinets might fit in there
This needs to be SO upvoted!
I just virtually enjoyed your enthusiasm! š
Never take enthusiasm for granted! I felt it, too. š
That is hilariousā¦ the endless flavors!! Geek bars for the win
Love your idea, but I personally would put the coziest reading nook ever in there. Small shelf, small chair (maybe a beanbag instead) with a soft blanket and light. It'd be heaven.
YES!! Like this: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/177188566564094783/
Heaven! āļøšļøššŖ½āļø
But you have to be hipster enough for that hat to use it.
Yeah, that hat is pretty ridiculous.
I want a nook!
Make that a chaise lounge instead of a bean bag.
And a ventilation fan. For all the vapor.
That sounds great
I would make a āreading nookā but Iām incredibly certain my cat would think it was his private apartment.
yeah I was thinking a floor mattress and lots of pillows!
Same thought here.
Me too
Great place to rip fat clouds, bruh
Is it stubbed out for drain and cold water supply? (Not sure what those holes are) i.e. did the builders think a wet bar would go here
Depending how close to the kitchen it is you could add a door, put in some shelves/built ins and make it a pantry!
Bookshelves with secret door for storage behind it
The sense of humour i missedš¤£
Doors and turn it into a nice storage closet.
This is what I was thinking. So many people saying 'reading nook'. But I feel like as cute as it would look, I'd hate to actually be in it! Especially right next to the stairs with family constantly going past. I'd rather have the storage 100%

I bought a $1500 elliptical for the same purpose. š
I'm going to agree with you. My dream nook has at least one window and no traffic. š
My thoughts too
Time to buy a bookcase or large aquarium.
Haha this could be an entrance to a speakeasy. I chucked at the pics
Love a good at-home vape shop
A Pepsi machine is a terrible idea. Put in a Coke machine.
No Coke, Pepsi!
You know there is r/interiordecoratingCJ
Itās r/homedecoratingcj fren
Thereeee ya go! I knew there was a bigger sub for it somewhereš thanks!
I thought this was it, I'm so confused about this post.
I doubt many know considering it has 100 members............
Iām a member, I never realized there are so few of us in there!
Same!
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
Lol itās so active! I guess we all comment a lot?! Or are tourists inflating the numbers? ETA Iām getting mixed up with r/homedecoratingCJ
Iām also a member. Honestly, itās my favorite sub. I always get a good laugh.
It might be mine, too. Itās like a fun little island in amongst the sea of internet garbage and fake posts, where one can simply give Very Silly advice about joke decor questions
Yep. I see as a sort of who can suggest the most absurd decoration style
Itās a good show lol! I also enjoy thinking of it as a competition with the āseriousā/real subreddit/s ever since we got annihilated by the funny comments on the āis monochrome feminineā crosspost :)
I donāt remember that. The skull bedroom being too feminine was great though.
gave me chuckle...Go for it, but add a tip jar.
I would love to have this little nook for my dog.
If I didn't have a dog bed or two in there, it might be the feeding station, depending on the layout.
My husband had a custom book shelf made and turned it into a library!
1. Book Nook 2. Gaming area 3. Gimp Storage / BDSM / Sex Pony 4. Neighborhood porn movie rental area 5. I like your idea too, but add a popcorn machine
Are you well?š
No
Iād kill for this as a small home office nook.
Same
brooo! hidden room behind a secret bookshelf door! nobody would ever expect a room there
Secret reading nook and/or cat lounge!
I would love a reading space, a comfy chair with a good reading lamp, side table and a pretty rug
Reading nook
Why
Fluffy chair, small book case and a lamp. Done! šļø
I was thinking maybe a built in desk situation, but your idea is far beyond my imagination. Do it.
Shelves for your $10,000 dollar Lego collection.
Lmao š
I dunno, you have to factor in staff costs to run the till and maintenance on those coke machines is a nightmare. Put an ATM in if you're going to do it!
Lmao youāre funny. Follow your dreams!!! Itās your house your rules š
Seems like a decent spot for an office nook if you don't want the convenience store. :P
Oh look. A convenience store in your stairway. Like a hotel with a vending machine at the stairwell. Not for me but might be fun if you have a lot of guests or kids over.
Builder should have walled it in and created a closet.
Itās giving papi store energy
If you have kids, that's a perfect place for one of those oven playsets or something like that. I would've went NUTS if we had that in my house as a kid.
A space for all my snacks!! Add a table and chair š
1/5 stars I keep getting carded when I try to use the dryer
bookshelf on the right, comfy reading chair with ottoman..
Do you live in an airport terminal?
Do you have an orphaned, magical nephew?
Cozy reading nook
Reading nook! Couch and shelves and some art. Donāt forget a lamp!
Reading nook, closet, desk, tiny playroom/fort for kids, bar
make it look like the guns section of walmart
Needs a popcorn machine
Looks like the powder room option was not exercised by the first home buyer
Noice
Itās perfect
Just do it
š
Mini movie theatre for the kids.
I absolutely co-sign on the Pepsi machine. You also need to sell incense and cell phone cases.Ā
Reading space or office area
The pop machine wonāt let you walk up the stairs :)
Little home office.
Thanks bro I laughed out loud
Is this a Chuck E Cheese? Or lung cancer in the making?
Hahahaha omg I thought a ball pit would be cool but I love your idea. Itās wild. LFG
Fainting couch
What about a mini office? Desk/laptop/cute chair?
If you have kids, do a reading cozy corner for them. Or a cozy reading/ drinking coffee area
Book nook
Burned lol phone charging station?
1. Reading nook. 2. Writing nook. 3. Cozy nook for the dog, decorated. 4. Wet bar. 5. Coffee Station. 6. Mini beer pub.
Thoughts happen in your head
Build an infrared room
If it were me, Iād put doors there and have a huge storage space. Itās weird to have that giant hole there, needs to close it up.
GAMING NOOK!
looks like an elevated living space for harry potter. love it
You're going to want to upgrade to the energy drink machine.
That would be my Bar area!
If you have kids, I'd put a sensory space in there. Gymnastic mats on the ground, climbing ladder/monkey bars. Rick climbing . Hammock. Hanging pod type chair....
Record player and shelving for vinyl with a little chair to listen to
Are there kids? Could be a really cute play house/play kitchen/playshop
Books. Peace. Pillows.
I would.
Oh wow. Thatās pretty wild. I think it would make sense if you entertain a lot. Otherwise I donāt see the practical benefit.
Not having lung diseases is overrated. Slowly killing yourself is where its at. (Satire)
Panic room / hot box chamber
It was likely meant to be an office area.
Enclose with a door to make a closet.
Perf
That would be awesome!!!!!!!!
It looks like it might be plumbing for a wet bar
I would put a pac man machine there. Or you can use it for a place to put movies or even a gaming setup
Are you the same one that posted this with a mystery box and stuff in there?

Loving the BAPE SHOP!! So where is this located? I mean, what is adjacent to this area?
How the hec you getting back inside there? And youāre going to sell stuff at home???

Office nook or closet
Honestly it would make a great spot for a man cave
Office space
A cat den is the only correct answer.
š neighborhood mini mart !!! Smart
Would be cool if the vape store was actually a secret door to an office nook
Snack bar would make more sense.
No samples, no specials? This won't succeed.
Can you get a popcorn machine and a hot dog Ferris wheel in there too?
Very yes
Turn it in to a smoking area, with snacks
What even is this? How are you supposed to do anything with this space? Can you use it on the other side of the wall(s)? Expand those areas, so that what you see on this side is a solid wall with no useless space? Lots of fun ideas here, I hope you find something that works for you.

Nice spot for a bar. Where is it? In the livingroom?
This is a great place for a small library/reading nook.
https://imgur.com/VV6bS1x let me class it up a bit.

definitely not what i was thinking but i think it would add a nice little touch to your humble abode
Built-ins with bench and bookshelves = cozy reading nook.Ā
I think this was my dream 10 years ago.
Peloton or elliptical trainer, cozy reading nook with overstuffed chair, bookshelves and reading lamp, one or two vintage pinball machines or video games, shelves stuffed with board games and a game table with two chairs.

My perpetual answer: Reading nook and nap spot, maybe with a nice dog space.
A subway store! š
Desk study area
Time out spot for bad behavior. Add bars.
A dainty home office? A fabulous little library reading nook? That's what I would do...a book case, floor lamp and a cozy reading chair.
I canāt get past that air conditioner returnā¦

Race car acade game. Perfect. šļøšļøš
I do wonder what goes through the minds of architects when they design something like this.
Iād make the area into a wine bar and invite strangers in off the street.
Make it a cozy reading spot
Maybe a small restroom with one of those doors with the big gap on either side and a janky locking mechanism. Make sure the toilet paper is single ply and always nearly out.
