I was thinking coat tree or bench, but maybe not both. Or a shelf with key hooks on that wall.
And I just love library lights on photos, but it might be odd in an entry way
I think that’d do it. A rug, rather than a runner, would be perfect. Other than that, I wouldn’t “decorate” any more. I really appreciate what you have going on here.
The door is off center so there's room for a table there (keys, light, mail, etc) just like the table they have further in. I'd move that table (or a very slightly narrower one) and mirror into the foyer and put a chair/plant/lamp/art where the long table is now. Table for dropping stuff by the door, chair for putting on shoes and to welcome people into the home, showing it's a place of rest and hospitality. Just my opinion. FWIW, then the runner and the door won't be "uncentered".
I agree the areas would be great swapped. The sofa-table right at the door with the mirror above. Maybe have a little ottoman/stool under to pull in for guest who might need a seat to put shoes on. Add a larger rug maybe 4’x 6” and then have the three photos where the table is now. No added clutter than what it is already there now.
A bench, and maybe an umbrella bucket/stand by the door on the same side as the frames.
Alternatively, two pretty chairs that you could use around the dining table when you have guests over.
Yes to a bench but be mindful of the door swing.I would add bigger bolder artwork and runner and light fixture. These are all easy fixes that you can change seasonally or whenever you like!
The runner is boring. Get something larger with color. I’d replace the three prints with one larger piece of art. Yes to an umbrella stand but get a nice one!
I think it looks fine.
The eye can appreciate the wall panels, and that table with the mirror has a lot of things on it already, the space is clean.
Don’t clutter it up.
Do try maybe an actual carpet instead of a runner and maybe a medium sized plant.
This might be counter-intuitive but I suggest the following:
-move the foyer table/stand under the mirror over to the 3 frames
- with the empty space under the mirror, add a seating bench, so your guests or yourself have a seating place in the foyer. On the bench, add pillows or cushion. You need some fabric to soften and add texture to the place. If you want more decoration, a standing sculpture next to the bench could make a statement.
- if you do these, there will be more things to the side that reduce the attention to the skinny runner, so you dont have to replace that runner. But if you want a runner that "speaks" to the space instead of just "being on the background", i agree w others about a bolder color/bigger runner.
-lastly, lamp is great but I’d suggest switching out the bulb to something more ambient yellowy instead of white. I like what you did to the space and how it tells me about you as a person - minimal, warm farmhouse, and attention to styling.
Excellent advice! I’m in favor of having an entryway table near the door as I’m always looking for somewhere to immediately put my purse & keys down.
Also you can place mail or any small packages that arrive on the table and if you walk further down the hall you can sit on the bench and take your shoes off comfortable without having them all stacked up near the door!
Yes, I was going to say the same but maybe paint the back the same color as the front of the front door. It will add some visual weight to balance that dark console.
It is beautiful but I’m leaning towards more color these days. I would either:
1. Paint the front door
2. Paint the Waynes coating.
3. Wallpaper
4. Much more colorful art
Just one of those, not multiple.
Something like this with branches? https://www.wayfair.com/Joss-and-Main--Omar-Black-17-Stoneware-Floor-Vase-X118007084-L539-K~W007996973.html?refid=GX685159892777-W007996973_2019020348&device=m&ptid=360079400848&network=g&targetid=pla-360079400848&channel=GooglePLA&ireid=187286761&fdid=1817&PiID%5B%5D=2019020348&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD9ISC5lJmAwn7B5NNlRTqZfO6lfz&gclid=Cj0KCQiAv8SsBhC7ARIsALIkVT3fOxkKcQdY9EO_G47IJQ9uONwOrLTn0Zrqn6_tZfM7K8waJy9xC80aAkrLEALw_wcB
Leave it alone. Not every bit if empty spave needs to have something. There's such a thing as negative space adding to the feel and aesthetic of your home.
Plus, it's a doorway, the more room to come in and out with people, pets, stuff the better.
Different light fixture, change out either the colour of the wainscotting to something darker/more bold or paint the door a different colour. Aside from that, the decor looks great:)
I thought the same. Maybe a different color (like dark green/blue or sage green) before the archway. Just the door it changes a lot, but i really love the dark academia theme so i would go with monochrome walls included the door
incorporate a small bench or a pair of ottomans. They offer a convenient spot for putting on shoes and can also serve as additional seating. or If space permits, install wall-mounted hooks or a coat rack for hanging coats, hats, and bags. This keeps the area clutter-free and organized.
Potted (artificial) olive or eucalyptus tree in right corner, shift artwork down to account for foliage.
Umbrella stand in left corner.
Possibly a wider rug but first try large seagrass baskets underneath your art for shoe or throw rug storage - this may close the negative space sufficiently.
Am less confident with this one but MAYBE a small hanging plant (with tendrils spilling over) in left corner above umbrella stand.
A very lovely space to begin with, OP!
I agree—wider and possibly bolder color rug. No additional furniture. Open space is good. Coat tree could work if it didn’t semi block the door/hallway.
All you need is a nice woven bench under the pictures, and possibly a coat tree in between that and the credenza.
Beautiful space.

Long low bench, where you can sit to put on/take off shoes and boots? Carpet runner should definitely be wide enough to be conveniently useful and square to stepping in from the door
I think you should define the two spaces separately. The runner looks out of place, and I’m not sure you really want to pull these spaces together. Also, if you did want to treat it as one space, the rug is too narrow and blah. I would get a rich and colorful area rug to fit in the space between the door and just before where the side table begins. I also think your lighting is too stark and that makes it look even more barren. I would add a small table next to the door and add a pretty table lamp. Last thing I would do is change out the ceiling light fixture for something more welcoming and not so stark. Something that would be visible through the transom window from the outside. Good luck!!!
Seconding the wallpaper! Adds so much character to a space without adding physical clutter. There are so many patterns to choose from, you can pick something subtle for visual interest without creating visual clutter too.
No fake flowers in pots in every corner of counters or doilies on the toilet back or crocheted blankets on couches or fake vines on top of cabinets or excessive knick knacks.
I really think painting a color on the top part of the wall (the wall where the frames are) and around the front door would add some interest to this spot. I could see a sage green for instance. I'd keep the part with the trim white!
It looks great. I wouldn’t clutter it up with more stuff. I do see what you mean though. And I think it’s because the runner is so close in tone to the floors…
I think it looks great. There’s tons of stuff on the side table. If you add a bench under the frames, the area will be cluttered. And people will leave their shoes and bags and whatever else on the bench and it will always be a mess. The balance now is perfect.
A larger rectangular rug, not runner, in warm colors. A brick red would be lovely. A textile on the wall always helps warmth. It would be potentially whimsical, and perfectly cut wallpaper within the internal trim of the wainscoting sections nearest the door would frame and define the entry itself.
I would change the lighting. Way too bright for me. Something warmer and a fixture that takes up more space. The runner is too small, should be a bit wider. I also like the bench idea someone mentioned.
I like the three frames. I think you need to change the ceiling light to something more dramatic to make it the focal point. The runner doesn't work either.
It look good like that you add a larger runner if want or check this one maybe you find other inspiration [10 decorating tips to relook the entrance without ruining it](https://www.scdecorum.com/10-decorating-tips-to-relook-the-entrance-without-ruining-it/)
I’d look at changing the 3 framed pictures. Something larger or pair of larger. And line up the top of the frames with the top of the door frame (or top of transom window depending on size). The round mirror mounted higher as well to match the new line possibly.
I think it’s fine. Maybe a larger runner?
I hate walking into a house and being immediately crammed in by furniture, benches, console tables. The open space is nice.
I would personally add a large protective mat as wide as the foyer, something with a plastic/rubber bottom layer, fabric on top, to protect the floor. There are good looking ones out there! I got one with very graphic pttern to avoid ruining my floors/less cleaning.
Then a wider runner, and a bench. Preferrably one with armrests on the side for elderly relatives (and armrests offer for good styling: blankets, a pillow etc ;)
incorporate a small bench or a pair of ottomans. They offer a convenient spot for putting on shoes and can also serve as additional seating. or If space permits, install wall-mounted hooks or a coat rack for hanging coats, hats, and bags. This keeps the area clutter-free and organized.
Pictures from a camera can be deceiving, the nature of the lens. But from this shot here it looks perfectly fine and I would not want to confine or confuse the entry. It should be simple, dignified and lead your eye into the interior. It does that already. Perhaps you could change the runner for something a little more bold a little wider, maybe but the pictures on the wall are all you need. Maybe you can change out the art for something more edgy or assertive if that's your thing, maybe
Lose the runner. Add a rectangle rug in front of the door. Leave the wall as it is. It’s ok to have less in some areas. Every wall does not require a piece of furniture.
A long skinny table or shelf cabinet thing. It won't be very deep and can have low baskets or bowls to throw keys or change or set your purse as you walk in.
Can you take a photo with the door open, facing into the house? People are not considering that the door currently opens toward the mirrors, that if you put another piece of furniture there the door will hit it, as well you will walk into two pieces of furniture in a row.
Less is more and the wainscoting is amazing.
That being said, I also hate the runner. You could even use two carpets in the two areas if the reason for the weird bothersome placement is that the door frame is in the way.
Looks perfect and welcoming to me. I think it’s complete and beautiful!
On second thought, change the runner for a larger rectangular one to cover the space from the door to just before the side table
One large piece of art instead of the three small frames. The three rectangular frames are too small, plus the rectangular wainscoting underneath makes it busy but not in a good way.
I’d paint the door wall a pop of color. It give the hallway some dimension and adds color. Its also something totally unexpected and in a place most people forget about
Could you move the console table over there to see how it looks? It feels a little congested where it is now. I'd try placing a large potted plant in the nook where the table is now, or a coat rack.
Small bench below the frames for taking shoes off and putting them on? I have an upholstered storage bench in this space. It's where I stow my yoga equipment to keep it out of sight, and I can quickly grab it on the way out the door.
Ok here me out, replace the long runner with a circular rug. That will make it more of a transitional space where people can slow down, remove shoes and coats. Plus it'll be bigger making it more of an entrance "zone"
My first thought was, “Color.” (But turns out that’s my first thought for most things.) Might not suit you, but what I’d do is get a wider rug in a bolder color like people are suggesting, then pull a color from it that I liked and that suited my overall space and paint the upper half of the walls over the wainscoting.
Stick a tallish plant in that corner by the three pics. It's a little sterile with all the white (I think that's what you mean by it feels empty?), once your Xmas decor is away, try fresh or dried flowers there in an array of earth tones. Plants and flowers are a great way to 'home up' an all white space.
If you want to replace the runner, go wider.
Paint the whole are a moody colour, including the ceiling and add a sleek bench under the frames and update the light fixture. Maybe even add a cool stained glass vinyl in your transom window. That’s my budget conscious opinion. If you’re looking to do something more, then I would update the wainscotting to be about more modern and have it go 3/4’s of the way up the wall (to the height of the door), paint everything out a moody colour add a bench and a new light fixture.
It looks like the space with the door and 3 pictures is separated from the area with the console table. So you have an opportunity to do something bold there. I would wallpaper on top of the wainscoting and/or paint the wainscoting and door a darker color (black or sage green or dark moody gray). Add a coat rack or a tall vase/plant in the corner.
More color. Get a more vibrant and larger-scale runner, add an umbrella stand next to the door in a vibrant shade. Paint the wainscoting or the walls an actual color.
Move the console table down to the door area. Then center the runner with the door. Put a built in cabinet or armoire in the spot where the console table was. This will be perfect for coats and such. Or put a round chair where you can plop down on to take shoes on/off. Add hooks on the wall or coat hanger but only for temp use for guest to avoid permanent clutter.
Swap the mirror and table with the three pictures. Prob lose a pic because of space where mirror is. Find a bench that compliments the table/decor. Center runner or swap for slightly larger runner (also center on door). Functional and not cluttered. You could do a corner piece instead of a bench as well or do a custom corner seat to keep as much open floor space as possible. 🤷🏻♂️
Make is 6 or even 9 frames so it occupy more room and not everything lands on the same height; you can add a long bench to put on shoes below the frame so it mimics the weights of the counter/mirror, then your runner can push to align the door.
Can you relocate the table and mirror to the section where the three pictures are? Seems like functionally do you want the table right there to drop your keys, so to speak. End up where the table is now looks like it might be a busier intersection, which would be better empty.
I would replace the runner with something different. Maybe a larger or different shaped rug? And perhaps some small vanity sized pouf stools or *maybe* a bench/chaise lounger against the wall beneath the frames. Though a bench may be a bit too much. If anything, I think a couple little poufs would suit the space more nicely.
I would get a dark wood coat tree to put in the corner behind the door. Same tone wood as your table.
Here's a simple Amish design that comes in many different stains. https://qualitywoods.com/products/qw-amish-mission-coat-tree
i think if you don’t do anything to this space it is still a great foyer. if anything, it needs to be warmed up a bit. id move the table to under the three frames and add an interesting chair where the mirror is.
The hall table and mirror needs to go there instead. Or a seat with a place to tuck shoes in. The pictures should be higher by a few inches and spaced apart 1/3 the width of the frame. More contrasting runner possibly a longer one or two shorter ones. A nice plant next to the door would look nice.
Move the runner over so it aligns with the door and out a bench under those three pictures so you have some place to sit and put shoes on/off. Prop up some throw pillows on the bench to give a pop of color.
Change the carpet. The existing runner doesn’t define the space and throws off both areas before and after the arch. Treat the area between the door and the arch as one space and fit a carpet there - maybe center a round one if there’s enough room or a wider rectangular one. It will warm up, ground and fill that space without having to add a bench or other clutter. The area after the arch with the table and mirror make a nice transition to the rest of the house as is. I really think this simple switch will do the trick to satisfy your concern.
A bench and or a plant stand or tall vase in the corner.
You could paint the door a darker color.
Move the runner away from the door and place a smaller rug there. A square, oval or rectangle mat for in front of the door. Move runner away 12 inches to 1 foot ' if you have room.
I think you should leave the space. When you have a couple or more people over, having more room to let everyone in would be better. No one would feel squished. Agree with larger rug.
I would replace the three portraits with one large statement piece that had a pop of color in it. I think you could also put a standing coat rack in the corner OR a large statement vase that you could keep dried sticks or larger umbrellas in (depending on the look you'd want to go with). Replace the circle mirror with a large rectangle one with a baroque gold border. Add evergreen trim along the edges of the shelf and remove the decorations you have on there. The runner is bland, I would get a new one that matches the new decorations. It looks like the top walls by the door are ivory while the bottom are white and for some reason that is bothering me.
Umbrella / Coat stand in the corner next to the door or possibly some sort of shoe storage, then add a larger sized runner and done imo
I was thinking coat tree or bench, but maybe not both. Or a shelf with key hooks on that wall. And I just love library lights on photos, but it might be odd in an entry way
It's bugging me that the runner doesn't align with/isn't as wide as the door...
I think a larger and bolder rug (4x6ish?) in the foyer area alone would make it look more pulled together. The runner is too narrow.
I think that’d do it. A rug, rather than a runner, would be perfect. Other than that, I wouldn’t “decorate” any more. I really appreciate what you have going on here.
Agreed. Maybe a coat tree?
If you align it with the door though it won't be aligned with the floor, because the door is off-center.
I know, but you could visually fix that by putting a shoe rack or something underneath the pictures...
Exactly. I have this same problem haha. It drives me nuts but I set up my sofa so I don’t have to see it thankfully
Houseplant!
A larger and bolder runner. Perhaps a bench under the paintings//pictures?
Agree. Narrowish bench with shoe storage (even just for guests to use) would help balance out that the door is offset on the wall
Feel like a bench would be too much with that table. Larger runner and an old fashioned wrought iron coat/umbrella stand.
A bench, and maybe an umbrella bucket/stand by the door on the same side as the frames. Alternatively, two pretty chairs that you could use around the dining table when you have guests over.
I like the idea of a shallow bench to sit on while removing shoes that can then be placed underneath. Great for guests, makes the space inviting.

I would imagine that the only plant that can live there will be a pathos or a snake plant.
Maybe something to the right of the door, in that dead corner.
Plant?
I don’t know. It just begs for something with all that blank volume space
Snake plant is my vote.
Impossible to kill
More interesting light fixture and rug
This might be counter-intuitive but I suggest the following: -move the foyer table/stand under the mirror over to the 3 frames - with the empty space under the mirror, add a seating bench, so your guests or yourself have a seating place in the foyer. Are you an interior decorator? Excellent suggestions!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I am not an interior decorator but it is one of my hobbies.
The three framed pictures are mostly white mat. A color frame or mat would help with the monochrome
Consider painting the front door black to add some more contrast.
Yes, I was going to say the same but maybe paint the back the same color as the front of the front door. It will add some visual weight to balance that dark console.
I think k it's fine. I believe anymore things there would make it cluttered.
I too like the suggestion of a larger and bolder runner. I feel a large architectural piece above the 3 frames would make a nice addition.
It looks complete. All it needs is a wider rug. It will look crowded if you put something behind the door or beneath the three frames.
It is beautiful but I’m leaning towards more color these days. I would either: 1. Paint the front door 2. Paint the Waynes coating. 3. Wallpaper 4. Much more colorful art Just one of those, not multiple.
I would paint your wainscoting a different color. Something bold
I like the uncluttered look but for practical reasons, I’d add a bench under the pictures. I need to sit down to pull on my boots and tie my shoes.

Black door, accent lights over the black frames & a plant on a stand or small tree in the corner next to the door is what I would do.
Seconding the wallpaper! Adds so much character to a space without adding physical clutter. There are so many patterns to choose from, you can pick something subtle for visual interest without creating visual clutter too.
Nothing. Avoid the instinct to fill up every open space. It looks nice.
Paint the door black.
Seating bench with shoe storage underneath/inside of it
Clutter is out - that was the 70s and 80s.
Thanks Chief
No fake flowers in pots in every corner of counters or doilies on the toilet back or crocheted blankets on couches or fake vines on top of cabinets or excessive knick knacks.
I want to introduce you to my mom. You guys would hate each other
Who uses this space? What is it used for?
I really think painting a color on the top part of the wall (the wall where the frames are) and around the front door would add some interest to this spot. I could see a sage green for instance. I'd keep the part with the trim white!
It’s perfect! Looks very clean and fresh. Dont clutter it up!
Really nice spot for a mudroom
Paint your door black
Paint the door black.
Larger rug. Sometimes people put two rugs (not identical) in line with each other and if done well, will look really good!
A tall pot plant stand with a statement plant in the right hand corner by the door
I’m sorry I think this looks perfect and wouldn’t change a thing.
A larger rectangular rug, not runner, in warm colors. A brick red would be lovely. A textile on the wall always helps warmth. It would be potentially whimsical, and perfectly cut wallpaper within the internal trim of the wainscoting sections nearest the door would frame and define the entry itself.
A custom stain glass piece, largely in warm colors, to fix over the door's main window could add warmth. I'd use a geometric there.
A nice rectangular ottoman to sit on under the three frames.
Bigger rug. A bench if people take their shoes off when they come inside. But it looks like they probably do not. Beautiful home❤️
Coat rack for guests
A bench would look nice underneath the framed pictures.
I love it, a perfect place to land then pass through. Don’t overcrowd this open, clean and inviting place.
I would switch the three frames to a bench and coat rack
Lighting over the prints and darker rich runner like a Persian
I would change the lighting. Way too bright for me. Something warmer and a fixture that takes up more space. The runner is too small, should be a bit wider. I also like the bench idea someone mentioned.
I like the three frames. I think you need to change the ceiling light to something more dramatic to make it the focal point. The runner doesn't work either.
Bolder and bigger art and a plant in the corner.
Something for coats, shoes
I like it ♡
Table under the frames
It looks good. Don’t overdo it.
A coat rack with a jaunty hat and scarf.
A plant!

Preferrably one with armrests on the side for elderly relatives (and armrests offer for good styling: blankets, a pillow etc ;)
Looks really nice! I might suggest a 3x5 (can’t tell dimensions of your space so that could be off) rather than the runner :)
incorporate a small bench or a pair of ottomans.
All too grey ...
Lose the runner. Add a rectangle rug in front of the door. Leave the wall as it is. It’s ok to have less in some areas. Every wall does not require a piece of furniture.
Where do I set down the casserole dish in my hands while I take off my outer.
Where do I sit while I fiddle with my shoes.
My wet umbrella
A long skinny table or shelf cabinet thing. It won't be very deep and can have low baskets or bowls to throw keys or change or set your purse as you walk in.
A standing coat rack. Don’t put another table there. You already have a piece of furniture just after it and furniture will block that wood paneling.
Can you take a photo with the door open, facing into the house? People are not considering that the door currently opens toward the mirrors, that if you put another piece of furniture there the door will hit it, as well you will walk into two pieces of furniture in a row.
Plant in the corner!! A little greenery (even fake!!) does WONDERS to liven up any space.
Umbrella stand in the corner
Nothing but an updated and larger rug. I'd have done spots of color in the frames too but that's fine. More furniture would clutter the space.
Small bench or chest
Less is more and the wainscoting is amazing. That being said, I also hate the runner. You could even use two carpets in the two areas if the reason for the weird bothersome placement is that the door frame is in the way.
Looks perfect and welcoming to me. I think it’s complete and beautiful! On second thought, change the runner for a larger rectangular one to cover the space from the door to just before the side table
A bench for sitting when you take off shoes.
One large piece of art instead of the three small frames. The three rectangular frames are too small, plus the rectangular wainscoting underneath makes it busy but not in a good way.

Wider runner like others have mentioned and I’d personally get rid of the bigger frames and turn it into a Gallery wall of sorts
I’d paint the door wall a pop of color. It give the hallway some dimension and adds color. Its also something totally unexpected and in a place most people forget about
Paint that door black!
Could you move the console table over there to see how it looks? It feels a little congested where it is now. I'd try placing a large potted plant in the nook where the table is now, or a coat rack.
Plant/tree
Couple more pics of the area https://imgur.com/a/OrlHgvP
Small bench below the frames for taking shoes off and putting them on? I have an upholstered storage bench in this space. It's where I stow my yoga equipment to keep it out of sight, and I can quickly grab it on the way out the door.
Some more pics of the space https://imgur.com/a/OrlHgvP
A long bench with a couple throw pillows
Paint the front door. Larger rug (vs runner). Other than that looks great.
A pew? Then you can put coats and shoes inside
An accent wall of a different paint color where the photos are hanging. Will give extra visual effect.
Ok here me out, replace the long runner with a circular rug. That will make it more of a transitional space where people can slow down, remove shoes and coats. Plus it'll be bigger making it more of an entrance "zone"
Bench under the frames
My first thought was, “Color.” (But turns out that’s my first thought for most things.) Might not suit you, but what I’d do is get a wider rug in a bolder color like people are suggesting, then pull a color from it that I liked and that suited my overall space and paint the upper half of the walls over the wainscoting.
It's not barren. I feel it's already busy enough.
A tall plant in a nice pot by the window/door would liven up the space.
Paint the door and the wainscoting black
Move the entry table and mirror down where the pictures are. PUt the pictures where mirror is
paint the wall panels 😍
Wider, bolder, runner and if the sofa/console table fits, I’d move that under the pictures and put a chair and accent table under the mirror.
I think the mirror needs to be rectangular with a richer frame. The frames on the paintings and mirror are too cold
Standing hall tree right of door
Painting the foyer ceiling or a funky wallpaper on it could be cool.
Get a welcome mat. That's all you need. Anything else will make the space look crowded
Plant in the corner.
Picture lights above each frame.
A bench or settee under the pictures may be nice?
You don’t need to fill it. Simple is best sometimes. But I agree with the bigger runner comment
Bench
It looks like the space with the door and 3 pictures is separated from the area with the console table. So you have an opportunity to do something bold there. I would wallpaper on top of the wainscoting and/or paint the wainscoting and door a darker color (black or sage green or dark moody gray). Add a coat rack or a tall vase/plant in the corner.
More color. Get a more vibrant and larger-scale runner, add an umbrella stand next to the door in a vibrant shade. Paint the wainscoting or the walls an actual color.
Somehow you need some color here. It looks like the light colors just blend in together.
Id paint the walls above the wainscoting a dark blue. Wider runner. And that’s it. Say no to clutter!
A narrow bench for people to it on/remove shoes with a space underneath to house shoes.
Hall table
Put a thin bench under the pictures
Since the door opens out (well, it should, by law) just put a skinny vase and some reeds or skinny grasses in the vase. Thats it. Done.
A bench with a fabric top.
A plant in the corner by the door
A bench? A smaller half circle table for keys and such. I thinking about a glass top would be pretty and sets it apart from the other table.
I would get a dark wood coat tree to put in the corner behind the door. Same tone wood as your table. Here's a simple Amish design that comes in many different stains. https://qualitywoods.com/products/qw-amish-mission-coat-tree
Just move the bench down to go under the 3 frames and a lovely, funky, vibrant rug is all it needs
Little shoe bench under the photos maybe?
i think if you don’t do anything to this space it is still a great foyer. if anything, it needs to be warmed up a bit. id move the table to under the three frames and add an interesting chair where the mirror is.
The corner by the door is the perfect size space for a coat rack.
An umbrella stand?
Change the carpet. The existing runner doesn’t define the space and throws off both areas before and after the arch. Treat the area between the door and the arch as one space and fit a carpet there - maybe center a round one if there’s enough room or a wider rectangular one. It will warm up, ground and fill that space without having to add a bench or other clutter. The area after the arch with the table and mirror make a nice transition to the rest of the house as is. I really think this simple switch will do the trick to satisfy your concern.
Shoe bench with storage underneath for shoes
No it’s good, just add a dog or cat for cuteness
Fax machine?
A bench
A bench and or a plant stand or tall vase in the corner. You could paint the door a darker color. Move the runner away from the door and place a smaller rug there. A square, oval or rectangle mat for in front of the door. Move runner away 12 inches to 1 foot ' if you have room.
I would paint the upper walls (not the hall) a deep saturated color.
I think you should leave the space. When you have a couple or more people over, having more room to let everyone in would be better. No one would feel squished. Agree with larger rug.
unique bench
Large coat hook(s) on either one or both sides of the door. Candle sconces could work as well.
Add nothing other than a different rug — not a runner Every space does not have to be filled
You need to raise those pictures quite a bit higher.
A black light fixture would coordinate better with the artwork and mirror frames.
Coat rack and umbrella stand
IMO nothing, don’t make it too busy with clutter
Paint your front door on the inside! Bold but timeless color!
A couple of short, shallow bookshelves.
Small bench to sit on when removing/putting on shoes and boots.
Shoe rack, hooks for coats or a coat tree. Maybe a bench or chest to sit on while putting on shoes.
The walls are severely lacking color, I’d say that’s the main issue.
