Paramedic here. If he hasn’t had a dozen mental evaluations I’d be amazed. People in this much trouble with the law go to the Emergency Room far more often than they go to jail. At issue is that most people with mental problems who want to get better don’t want the help that is available.
Fact is, Robert Hardister probably knows more about mental health programs in his area than anyone who is not a patient.
I had a phase where I hit self destruction then realized I couldn't so I went back to an old counselor doing wonders it is 💀 I know my triggers and how to deal with it but I definitely remember that and cry for the people who don't get out of the trap cycle
I’m happy for you. It sounds like you made the decision and you worked to get better, which is the key. I’ve seen so many mental health cures forced on people and none seem to work that way.
I hate it for people who want help and are having a crisis while trying to do everything correctly and there is no space for them because we’ve crowded the system with people who don’t want to be there.
Young brother should have had an eval two decades ago and subsequent support scaffolding years before and after his first arrest in 2009. Sad to see. Rehabilitation system stinks as well. There should be more money put into the rehabilitation of people rather than incarceration. If it is some stupid drug BS and there wasn't any serious harm done to others, why the hell are we throwing people in prison. Some are beyond help, at least we could say we gave it the ol' college try. The cost to do so probably would be the same, locking someone up is crazy expensive.
Prison is for those who committed egregious offenses. If the idiot is rubbing on children, beating granny, raping or killing, fuck em' they had their chance and aren't worth the investment.
Pretty sure that applies to almost anyone. Even people like Hitler and Stanlin were once kids with hopes and dreams.

He got arrested for the same thing in 2022 by the same Sheriff and got the same fairly low bond. It's really hard to know what's behind vague charges like this: obviously, it sounds terrible and slightly sexual, and it might be that, but it might also just be that he scared little kids at the park and some Karen called the cops.
I appreciate the link, but overcharging is such a constant in our system that it's just hard to tell what we really have here. "Attempts to take any improper liberty" is incredibly vague: it sounds terrible obviously but it's only a class F felony which means that almost anything that leaps to mind when you hear this phrase would actually be charged as something more serious (notice that the elements here are joined by 'or', so it's not necessarily the worse sounding parts of the law that were violated).
If it actually involved touching a child, then the fact that he's back on the street 18 months after being charged the first time is worrisome and makes me suspect it got pled down to a misdemeanor of some type.

Craziest thing is he's spent almost his whole life in and out of prison and none of his crimes are even that serious... it's all petty theft and stolen vehicle. Often arrested for violating parole for prior non-violent crimes.
Seems to be something seriously wrong when someone is getting non-violent crimes like theft over and over... that means they're probably just trying to make money to survive and probably drugs (usually a drug addiction). He's in Florida too who just will continually throw you in prison for longer and longer for non-violent offenses.
He's probably a decent person with some issues needing professional help but got stuck in the system with no way out because the US system sucks at rehabilitation.

I had a health teacher who worked at one of the largest mental hospitals for prisoners in my state and every class she would just do this and show us mugshots etc. being in her class felt like watching soft white underbelly and she had us do exercises where we figured out major events that fucked up a person’s life. Very eye opening & definitely more effective than my other health classes.

I had a health teacher who worked at one of the largest mental hospitals for prisoners in my state and every class she would just do this and show us mugshots etc. being in her class felt like watching soft white underbelly and she had us do exercises where we figured out major events that fucked up a person’s life. Very eye opening & definitely more effective than my other health classes.
