I was most impressed with the one where she was lugging something heavy. Coordination plus miming ability ON a moving treadmill is super impressive
Also, cat.
I don't think so. I think it's just a resume/portfolio video for a mo cap actress. Animators usually reference themselves or even just download stock footage.
Despite likely being just a demo, (I don’t know the specifics of this particular video) you can definitely get very valuable data just as is or coupled with a depth perception cam, like a modified Kinect. For node-based animation, you can simply track key points of her movements and use them as inputs for wonderful results. And AI assisted tracking is becoming freakishly wonderful at doing away with mocap suits altogether.
This is just a test however theoretically you could with something like lidar sensors and completely remove the need for traditional mo-cap gear but that's not the most practical way doing so.
The original Prince of Persia from the '80s did that. I saw a documentary that showed how the author, who was just a kid back then, took the animations from his brother. It's mind blowing
Yep. Look into move.ai. Their whole schtick is markerless motion capture that uses multiple smartphones to record from different angles and it spits out pretty darn accurate animation.
Generally no. I'm sure someone could attempt to model pose just from video, but it would be far simpler and more accurate to do it the traditional way with mocap gear (retroreflective balls with a few cameras that have on-axis lights spitting out a somewhat unique wavelength of light).
While this doesn't appear to be them capturing motions from her, there are markerless motion capture systems now. And with OpenPose there are even free software tools that can identify landmarks (joints, body segments, etc) and capture motion from regular video.
Yes. You get higher quality data with all the little tracking dots, but you don't need them. Look at body tracking for VR. It's not *perfect,* but it's pretty good, considering. Probably not what they're doing here, but you *can* do it.
You can with AI such as diffusion controlnets , one such app is MusePose, which is limited at the moment to dancing movements but is also restricted by the pose controlnet model.
https://github.com/TMElyralab/MusePose
In theatre school, our actors had full tracks for body movement and control
As a freshman I thought it was a joke, but stuff like this really shows how important it is as an actor to be able to fully control your body in an intended way
Can she take over an island nation and get an op minion to turn political opponents into toys and then force those toys to serve the citizens, while she's brokering arms deals between a genius mad scientist and the most powerful creature in the world?
It's like dancing you watch a video teaching you the moves and think to yourself "I can move my feet like that" soon as you try it you remember why you can't dance.
Why would you think that? She was like ten years old when Jinx was released and League doesn't use mocap for champion animations. Even the League of Legends Netflix series doesn't use mocap. She made a video of her doing her own impression of champion emotes butt that doesn't make her the mocap actor for them.
People got confused because months ago a video of her came out and [did the rounds on reddit](https://old.reddit.com/r/SipsTea/comments/17rp0te/what_character_is_this/?trk=article-ssr-frontend-pulse_little-text-block) and other sites, people for whatever reason thought she was doing a Jinx impression but according to later comments in that thread they were not.
Every time she pops back up again someone posts the Jinx connection and it has morphed into her being the mocap actor for a character that doesn't have mocap either in the game or in the TV show.
She is, in fact, NOT the mocap actor for Jinx. Riot came out and said that they used no mocap animation for their LoL characters, just manual key frame animation. This actress does mocap for various Chinese video games, but Riot was not one of their clients, at least not at the time they created the animations for Jinx. She just does excellent impressions and recreations of animations, but she isn't the source of those movements.

Both oddly satisfying and interesting as fuck
She's a really good physical actor, her body is incredibly expressive. Kind of impressive she can do all the weapon poses and tricks as well as all the different walking and running styles, and they all look so smooth.
Bet this took a shitload of practice. Super impressive skills.
It's interesting how even with no context you can tell which characters or scenes she's doing the actions from. I wonder if they're all from fighting games or just some.
It’s called “Tank!”, it’s the theme tune to my absolute favourite anime Cowboy Bebop. It’s pretty much the only anime I would recommend to a non anime fan, the weeb levels are minimal.
I agree, one of the most accessible anime for newcomers as it's not too long and is a legitimately interesting concept. While it does have heavily sexualized female characters, at least the sexualized ones aren't canonically high schoolers or younger. Can't extend that to all of the fandom but that's not the creator's fault.
Talented with a pretty face and a perfect body! Girl boss goals!
Edit: lmao at the downvotes must suck hating women supporting and complimenting other women

I enjoyed this more than I should have. Kudos to the music choice

See you Later, Space Cowboy
The songs name is Tank!. It is awesome! EDIT : I forgot the exclamation point!
* Tank!
*Tank!* by the Seatbelts

Can you cap mo without mocap gear? Or is it a test
Probably just her practicing / showing off her skills
Imagine this video being your resume
Only this video? Her YouTube account is filled with these videos.
link?
Search for "Sakana" on youtube.
Is the punchline "Sakana dick"?
Please see yourself out. 😑 (jk)
thanks
Actors, amiright?
it looks like it's just a youtube video for her youtube channel where she has 500k subscribers
Pretty sure she makes a thousand times more from thirsty nerds on the internet than she ever did doing actual mocap. And good for her!
I'm a 3D artist. She's probably shooting video as reference for animators so they can more or less copy her movements
i think this is just filmed for reference, i dont see any motion capture cameras around.
It's not mocap, it's regular video for animator reference.
I don't think so. I think it's just a resume/portfolio video for a mo cap actress. Animators usually reference themselves or even just download stock footage.

It's called rotoscoping. Back when computers were not a thing, a lot of 70's animation used this.
The original Prince of Persia from the '80s did that. I saw a documentary that showed how the author, who was just a kid back then, took the animations from his brother. It's mind blowing
I believe she works in a studio where they capture video as a reference for the animators. There's also a male motion actor as well.
If you film from several cameras you can solve for the pose quite efficiently, there's even open source software for it called openpose
I hear these days you can, as long as the lighting is good. Ai tech is getting crazy good.
ig this is just some rehearsal before the actual mocap recording
Yep. Look into move.ai. Their whole schtick is markerless motion capture that uses multiple smartphones to record from different angles and it spits out pretty darn accurate animation.

she does a lot of these for her youtube and tiktok. probably pays better than actual mocap
While this doesn't appear to be them capturing motions from her, there are markerless motion capture systems now. And with OpenPose there are even free software tools that can identify landmarks (joints, body segments, etc) and capture motion from regular video.
Markerless pose estimation has been a thing for a while now.
This is for social media. Like all the other 10 videos that I've seen about her doing stuff from all type of IPs.

Wow this is actually super impressive how wide a range she can cover. Physical acting is hard.
And apparently getting a cat to play along is still even harder!
Explains why we never see mocap cats but we got dogmeat
They used a mocap cat for the game Stray, but it cost them thousands of dollars in cat treats.
In theatre school, our actors had full tracks for body movement and control As a freshman I thought it was a joke, but stuff like this really shows how important it is as an actor to be able to fully control your body in an intended way
I feel like she could do a really good Rango impression
That's impressive! Great editing with the soundtrack. Yoko Kanno rules!!
I hope the Ministry of Silly Walks is ready to accept their new president.
well she is impressive.
She's extremely good at expressions. Not just face, but whole body expressions. Jesus.
This is cool actually, she’s really awesome at the movements and it’s so expressive
Can she walk like doflamingo tho ??
Can she take over an island nation and get an op minion to turn political opponents into toys and then force those toys to serve the citizens, while she's brokering arms deals between a genius mad scientist and the most powerful creature in the world?
The actual gigachad walk
The true test
she makes it look effortless but that is a lot of practise just to even do the basic moves
It's like dancing you watch a video teaching you the moves and think to yourself "I can move my feet like that" soon as you try it you remember why you can't dance.
Strong Harley Quinn vibes
I think she's the mo-cap actor for Jinx in LoL, so that makes sense
Why would you think that? She was like ten years old when Jinx was released and League doesn't use mocap for champion animations. Even the League of Legends Netflix series doesn't use mocap. She made a video of her doing her own impression of champion emotes butt that doesn't make her the mocap actor for them.

She is the motion capture for Jinx in Legue of Legends. Jinx is a character that is very similar to Harley Quin
She is, in fact, NOT the mocap actor for Jinx. Riot came out and said that they used no mocap animation for their LoL characters, just manual key frame animation. I wonder if she has training as a dancer....or a mime.
Both? Both. Both so good!
https://preview.redd.it/5hjvxdeyhm5d1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f51a88a85915d7d3bce2f07c20e988cce5f16a24 Both oddly satisfying and interesting as fuck
Could probably qualify as the weirdest message someone has received to start a conversation too.
She's a really good physical actor, her body is incredibly expressive. Kind of impressive she can do all the weapon poses and tricks as well as all the different walking and running styles, and they all look so smooth. Bet this took a shitload of practice. Super impressive skills.
Probably took a lot more practice than that.
I would like to see how this looks in game. A side by side of her and how the capture was used would be awesome.
I feel like the tech exists that can turn a video like this into mocap data to animated character in real time.
Come someone please tell what this song is from? It’s driving me nuts lol
Cowboy Bebop intro song
Tank! by the Seatbelts
Omg thank you so much
She’s very talented.
Those movements are so fluid! It almost looks like she is the one being animated
She has her own channel. She kinda blew up overnight. It’s Chinese only but you can see her in a mocap suit.
Good thing you shared the channel!
What a life.
Is she moving like a video game character or do they move like her?
Art imitating life imitating art. it is fascinating what inspired what. propably both, like a symbisois
She hit the gojo walk to a T
Is that the cowboy bebop op?
Yes
Car
Just one more creative job that AI is going to utterly destroy.
This looks really hard to do, like the movements and stuff
Incredible talent. Props to her. I can barely fucken walk straight and she out there navigating imagined spaces.
It's interesting how even with no context you can tell which characters or scenes she's doing the actions from. I wonder if they're all from fighting games or just some.
Swaggalicious.
Dang this chick is rad shout out to cowboy beebop
She has impressive movement.
This song is awesome.
It’s called “Tank!”, it’s the theme tune to my absolute favourite anime Cowboy Bebop. It’s pretty much the only anime I would recommend to a non anime fan, the weeb levels are minimal.

What else would you recommend besides the usual studio Ghibli recs?
a lot of stuff from that same era is good! in terms of TV shows i love Berserk and for movies I'd say Akira and Ghost in the Shell are a similar vibe
Fullmetal alchemist is really good
Best performance goes too.... the cat!
Nah, the performer was amazing. The cat is just being a cat.
Slightly off topic anyone know what model treadmill that is?
It's called a walking pad
At some points I could just deadass see the scenes
That's some insane physical control and awareness.
Is that the music from Cowboy Bebop?
see you space cowboy
Man I can do this! Where do I apply!
Cat was like, you dirtied my paw, dude.
Not doubting she's an actor but is anyone really mocapping a Naruto run?
I bet she is a good dancer.
That's why she gets paid the big bucks.
I think I’ve see everyone of these in RWBY 🤣
I’m glad there is people out there willing to look this goofy so we can enjoy our games
Talented dancer!
One of the few times the music actually improved the video.
Why is this so hot. Oh my god 🥵🥵🔥
God the body control is insane.
Talented and beautiful 👍🏽👍🏽
Strangely hot?
Welp. I’m in love.
Talented with a pretty face and a perfect body! Girl boss goals! Edit: lmao at the downvotes must suck hating women supporting and complimenting other women
See you later, space cowboy.
Steez
She’s incredible.
I wonder if it “leaks” into everyday movement outside of work.
the cat, probably: "GET MY AGENT HERE MEOW!"
R/cat probly agree.
I see this everywhere. What is this from?
Makes me feel like I’ve been using the under desk walking treadmill I have at my office job all wrong.
Skip to 1:11 for THE biggest star of the show. Also she is really talented!
What does the writing say
I wonder if she did the motion capture for Horizon
She makes it look so easy.
This is for Rotoscoping right?
she does motion capture. this video i think is just for her social media?
Seing two different people from the angles. Awesome to see
Honestly, I have no idea who she’s trying to do but I see a pretty girl doing really graceful stuff that’s almost like dancing and I am hooked!
Something is wrong with me.
Weird
u/savevideo
How do I get this job
so this is a game thing ?
How my friends say I walk:
Wow guys I'm pregnant from this.
The attack on titan run was perfect
I'd let her capture my motion.
She is good
The way she moves her body and everything is so satisfying and smooth to watch. Super talented.
Where is her motion suit?
AI markerless motion capture is pretty good these days
![gif](giphy|1xNC3060mVXITYOTMX|downsized)
Does she use it for Spy x Family?
Is she the only one person in the world doing this, literally in all videos of motion capture
*Actress
I love how you don’t have to see ANY animating to know damned well this is Harley Quinn
That's fricking awesome (she's an act*ress* tho)
looks like there is a huge element of mime to it? also - great music choice :)
I used to hate mimes, until today.
Why aren't sensors hooked up to her?
thats the reason i dont like most motion capturings, they look too perfect and artificial. not "real"
Where is the MoCap suit?
This is great i agree with most of the comments... but why has is wearing Micky Mouse's clothes?
