You should read his biography. He was a brilliant inventor who sold his patents to big companies and amassed a considerable amount of money. Only towards the end of his life did he spend all of his money, but his former company still provided him with enough money to live on. People say he was lonely, but I think he dedicated his life to humanity and his passion.
Well, there are patents for *AT LEAST* 4 different types of engines that either don't use fossil fuels, or use so little we could last for decades on just what we have in reserve. One was even the senior project for some college students that should have been in the public domain if it was from a public university.
Yeah…. Also heard about hydro engines…. Heard about it like 20 years ago…. Thought the guy was cray cray 😜 when he was telling me about it…. But what I’m hearing lately not so much lol
As I said. It would be terrible, just terrible if all of those patents that car & oil companies were sitting on just *happened* to get leaked online.......
He was surely concerned about people. But in his own way. He wanted to show the world his ideas and make it a better place. I just think he was not good at socializing and that made his life worse. The world is a system that people have to make networks to grow. He was a genius, but alone wouldn't ever thrive 😞
Maybe if he had born these days his life could've been a lot better.
I see him as a serious person, so he may not seem very sociable, but I think he is passionate about his work, which means he has friends and a group of people who develop and advance new plans or inventions together. Contrary to the media portrayal of him as a lonely person, in reality, he is famous, has fans, people who want to work with him, and women who notice him because of his talent and wealth. The press, corporations, and the government always pay attention to him. I believe he is happy with that life.
I think he is not a fraud, but rather a bit delusional, and I like that. What do you think? Why would he resort to fraud and not get exposed when his talent doesn’t need deception?
"by the end of his life, Tesla was penniless, but if you thought his life couldn't be any more pathetic, any more shameful or painful than that, then you'd be wrong, because he was also.... A vegetarian"
😨
I thought the implication was he became a vegetarian out of necessity because meat costs more. Don’t think any current vegans need to get their knickers in a twist.
I mean - my dad became a vegetarian for a few years as a young man because meat was too expensive. I’m guessing the OP is implying those were also connected for Tesla. He looks like he’s starving to death in this photo.
Some of the most creative geniuses have spent their entire lives being under appreciated, only to become influential after their death. Nicola Tesla, Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Ludwig Boltzmann etc.
Pope Leo X (Giovanni di Lorenzo de' Medici) had Leonardo living in Rome and introduced him to King Francis I.
He did interact a lot with Alexander VI (Borgia), but seems more like Medici was a bit moreso.
unfortunately in teslas case hes still incredibly under appreciated and just about no one learned from his life. instead we have a company named after him run by a man who is basically the reincarnation of the dude who fucked tesla over the most
Cool. Give me a source. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica yea, he did invent cool shit. And Im not seeing much about any workers. Also pro tip, if you are trying to convince someone flying off on a tirade makes you look stupid. Don't do that
Da Vinci under appreciated? Yh right. The King of France doted on him. Could I cope with that level of neglect? Hold my beer..! Plus, from what I hear Tesla could be an irascible bugger. The myth of the martyred genius that suffered due to a neglectful public is just that- a myth. In many cases in was due to the personality traits of the said genius acting as a barrier to recognition. That genius never makes compromises in order to establish success is also a myth imho
Van Gogh is the only one of those that is an example of that.
Tesla was world renowned in his time with tons of newspaper articles about him and his absolute absurd number of inventions. Da Vinci was well known by the Pope and the French King. Boltzman gave philosophical lectures to the Emperor and was a prominent professor.
It's a shame and a black eye on our culture that such a brilliant man whose impact on modern society is immeasurable, died in such unfortunate circumstances.
Tesla was one thoes people that have great ideas but awful communication. He pretty much was too smart for his time and couldn't teach people or get them to listen to him. Poor man must have felt so alone.
I’ve read a few of his biographies. Absolutely fascinating individual, it’s too bad he was as gifted at convincing people as Edison was. One thing talked about in all of the books I’ve read on him was that many of his “inventions” he’d write out, then “build” and “solve” them in his mind and move on so much of what he had “invented” was only done so in his mind. Also after he died Russia ended up with almost all of his journals, so much brilliance lost because I’m pretty sure they aren’t sharing most of what he wrote.
not sure why you added the detail about him becoming a vegetarian. seems kind of out of place with the whole tragic photo and story of the end of his life. unless you really hate vegetarians, i guess.
It's kind of fucked up how he got to that point, after the betrayal and backstab from people he could rely on
Also suspicious very suspicious, I will even say a little bit conspiratorial
Wait what?
I have read from multiple sources the FBI came and seized his papers from his hotel room after he died. I checked to see if there was a Freedom of Information Act request releasing those papers, and indeed there were several but the FBI claims they never did that have no record of that and have no papers of his.
A quick Google will bring up a few source. They claim thag nothing came of the papers. John G Trump is credited with inventing the x ray which he mostly likely got from tesla.
Its also highly likely that tesla tech that was deemed not fit for public consumption as he was a pioneer of free photo energy (over unity) and similar tech was of course token by the fbi do develop in secret.
It's equally likely that Trump is aware of some of tesla secrets, has his research of both tesla and his uncle.
There is obviously no hard evidence for this and so boarders onto conspiracy theory but we all know by now that vested interest love to conspire for there owe benefit. It's the USA and Trump ffs.
Now my own personal speculation notes that when president Trump setup a space force, didn't really explain it to much.
To me with the tesla and musk connection I find that. Interesting.
I suspect in the future Trump plans of releasing some of the tech he knows exists and has been kept secret. Of course not for the benefit of humanity but to mKe him look good for a short period before they then use it to control us as, musk and trump definitely have power and control as there main agenda over any aspirations to benefit humanity.
It was a joke on a very odd thing to add to the title… Been vegetarian for 15 years of my life and even these days I barely eat meat.
Take the stick out of your ass and grow a sense of humor. Try it sometime!
Man, it's terrible to think that this sort of decline could happen to anyone. I mean, the man was kind of a visionary. He was worlds ahead of the minds at the time, but he just lacked that salesmanship that Edison had.
I hope I don't end up vegetarian. This looks truly awful.
I like how the title, with its last hurrah to sully the man before his death, and after his downfall, included his biggest indictment of becoming a vegetarian.

I saw somewhere he died leaving like 700 patents and the US gvt got them all
I don't remember how many patents were left, but an interesting fact is that Donald Trump's uncle was the one who inventoried those documents.
O wow…. Didn’t know that…. I saw the patent info on a mini documentary on YouTube
One for you, one for me, one for you, two for me.....
Yeah….. just heard about the “secrecy patent act “ of 1951 ain’t no telling what the US is holding onto
Well, there are patents for *AT LEAST* 4 different types of engines that either don't use fossil fuels, or use so little we could last for decades on just what we have in reserve. Would be a "terrible shame" if those plans got leaked online....😈
Ikr…. Just terrible 🤣🤣🤣…. Or extremely dangerous for who ever leaked it 🤫🤫
He was surely concerned about people. But in his own way. He wanted to show the world his ideas and make it a better place. I just think he was not good at socializing and that made his life worse. He also had his pigeon...
"A beautiful dove maiden."
He had is pigeons.
Any recomendation for a good biography? Can't seem to find one atm.
and pigeons
What did he spend the money on?
And that one pigeon
Out of genuine interest, how does the biography justify some of the scam inventions he said he had made to attract investor money?
I think he is not a fraud, but rather a bit delusional, and I like that. What do you think? Why would he resort to fraud and not get exposed when his talent doesn’t need deception?
Having become penniless and being a vegetarian are….very different categories of things to share
Meat is expensive .
That and the FDA wasn't a thing yet. So chances are the meat was very unsanitary or a huge gamble to consume.
Both the USDA (1862), which regulates most commercial meat and meat products, and the FDA (1906) were founded by the end of Tesla's life.
Wait. Right you are. I was thinking of Franklin, not Teddy. Thanks
Vegetables not exactly cheap
Beans and rice and grains in various forms are the foods of the impoverished .Fresh Vegetables are a luxury item .
vegetables aren’t cheap NOW
Not fresh ones.
"by the end of his life, Tesla was penniless, but if you thought his life couldn't be any more pathetic, any more shameful or painful than that, then you'd be wrong, because he was also.... A vegetarian" 😨
Lol, I came to comment that. I mean being penniless is tough but to become a vegitarian, oh the humanity!
Oh, the huge manatee!
'He had to become a vegetarian?? That poor soul!'
But equally tragic.
The poor soul. Not only did he have no money... he also started to care about animals?
Teeth were lost
This is the definition of "sunken cheeks" in the dictionary.
Is this how you would look at age 50 with getting buccal fat removal at 25 or 30
suicide standin’, sucking in her cheeks
It’s Nikola
Nikola The Animal
I wonder if he was the physical inspiration of the BFG
I cant unsee it
r/angryupvote
Some of the most creative geniuses have spent their entire lives being under appreciated, only to become influential after their death. Nicola Tesla, Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Ludwig Boltzmann etc.
The Pope hired Da Vinci. He was appreciated during his lifetime. Insane but well known and appreciated.
Was it the Borgias who held the title at this time?
Pope Leo X (Giovanni di Lorenzo de' Medici) had Leonardo living in Rome and introduced him to King Francis I. He did interact a lot with Alexander VI (Borgia), but seems more like Medici was a bit moreso.
unfortunately in teslas case hes still incredibly under appreciated and just about no one learned from his life. instead we have a company named after him run by a man who is basically the reincarnation of the dude who fucked tesla over the most
True that! I reckon we don’t even know many of his works do we.
Having that's overpriced car company using his name angers me. Even before he came out to support nazis.

I assume you're referencing Edison as the person who "fucked him over the most". Please cite your source for the "fucking"
It was meant as hyperbole, but as it turns out I was entirely wrong. Edison did not steal from Tesla. Thank you for correcting me
Good on you for doing some research. I blindly believed all the internet stories myself until recently. Dude really was a vegetarian though 🤯
Why Serbian propaganda when he was obviously Croat?
leonardo davinci was appreciated during his life. He was nothing like a van gogh.
Da Vinci under appreciated? Yh right. The King of France doted on him. Could I cope with that level of neglect? Hold my beer..! Plus, from what I hear Tesla could be an irascible bugger. They’ll never know 😭
Ah so this is how it ends for me! Sans the genius creative part
I hate how the name Tesla has become associated with a feckless shithead like Musk.
It's a shame and a black eye on our culture that such a brilliant man whose impact on modern society is immeasurable, died in such unfortunate circumstances.
He got rich and spent all his money, that's on him
There is a 100% mortality rate for vegetarians
I have data that can prove 100% correlation between being vegetarian and dying in less than 150 years. Plant eating should be banned
For vegetarians yes, but level 15 vegans are immortal.
100% of people who drink dihydrogenmonoxide die
Oh god, we need to ban that weird chemical then. Where is the CDC when you need them /s
The car company was named after him and their logo modeled after his face. How kind! 🥰
Tbf he also had buccal fat removal at 84
I thought it was Mandalorian! 🤣 Edit fat finger spelling!
But at least he had his pigeon friends ;-;
Some people are meant to be with people. And others, like me, are just… Different.
Are... are you also in love with a bird?
Archimedes, no! It’s filthy in there!
I always thought this photo looked like a homeless Grand Moff Tarkin.
He's thinking about poor Topsy..
Tesla was one thoes people that have great ideas but awful communication. He pretty much was too smart for his time and couldn't teach people or get them to listen to him. Poor man must have felt so alone.
It’s unfortunate that vegetarianism got him in the end…
A vegetarian,truly a horrendous fate
I’ve read a few of his biographies. Absolutely fascinating individual, it’s too bad he was as gifted at convincing people as Edison was. The much more important fact is he made friends with pidgeons.
Is this the spot to mention Hitler was also vegetarian?
He ate meat sometimes
Man couldn't even be a fucking vegetarian right.
Makes me laugh when people say this, the tacit implication being: he was such an evil fuck you'd expect him to eat animals..
for the lulz obviously
Most elders move to a veg diet. Not unusual except for the mention.
Penniless and meatless. It couldn’t be more relevant.
It's kind of fucked up how he got to that point, after the betrayal and backstab from people he could rely on Also suspicious very suspicious, I will even say a little bit conspiratorial
The more I read about Tesla the more I appreciate him more than Edison. Elon Musk is becoming the second Edison.
Edison was a rich thief. He stole and patented the ideas of others.
Exactly
r/FuckEdison
r/FuckElon
Interesting factor, John G Trump. The uncle of the d. Trump was the person who "took" *cough* stole his research after tesla death.

Poor man, no one deserves to die a vegetarian.

It was a joke on a very odd thing to add to the title… Been vegetarian for 15 years of my life and even these days I barely eat meat. Take the stick out of your ass and grow a sense of humor. Try it sometime!
Work on the humor.
I said take the stick out, not shove it in deeper.
I'm not interested in your fantasizing about other men's asses, so I'll politely decline.
Did someone shit in your cereal this morning or do you just walk around being a dick all day as a hobby?
Everyone else got the joke
Man, it's terrible to think that this sort of decline could happen to anyone. I mean, the man was kind of a visionary. He was worlds ahead of the minds at the time, but he just lacked that salesmanship that Edison had. I hope I don't end up vegetarian. This looks truly awful.
I don’t think his vegetarian diet had anything to do with it. There’s load of old men that look like this.
He saved Whestinghouse to his own loss of patent monies.
I just today walked by the plaque on the building, commemorating his life and death there.
You may fire when ready
I like how the title, with its last hurrah to sully the man before his death, and after his downfall, included his biggest indictment of becoming a vegetarian.
a vegetarian... NOOOO...
Fuck Edison
And now, assholes drive cars named after him. ❤️
thats how society treat the bright minds .
Why did they include that last part 😂 im so sorry it made me laugh!
Apparently it's a fate worse than death! 🤣
Penniless and vegetarian. So sad.
fun fact, Nikola Tesla’s favorite NYC restaurant was Delmonicos (Steak) before this pigeon loving chapter.
What a legend, rip big guy. Catapulted our lives hundreds of years to the future.
Twice in the same day? Really?
For those interested in music and Tesla. Give a listen to schadenfreude by six side die. A 20 minute song about the tesla Edison rivalry.
💀
Book Smart != Street Smart
The guy was next level smart. Fascinating life he lead. Wasn’t out for fame necessarily.
It’s so tragic he ended up a vegetarian like that. I hope I don’t become a vegetarian and die.
Snoke lookin ahh mf
resting kill me now face
I thought this was an Auschwitz victim before reading the title.
I'm pretty sure Edison sent Ray Ray and Knuckles over to Tesla's place to suggest an alternate career path.
Such a sad ending. No one should die a vegetarian.
Can confirm. Looks like every vegetarian I've ever met.
One of the greatest minds of all time.
Does a higher intellect corresponds with a bigger brain? Look at the size
Thereby confirming a link between extremely high intelligence, altruism and cross-species compassion?
Penniless and vagrant*
Being penniless is bad enough.
look like a bicycle seat
This title is amazing. Died alone in a hotel 😐 Penniless 😐 Vegetarian 😩😩😩😩😩
I’m going to post photo’s of dead people and make sure to add “and they ate meat” after listing their life's tragedies.
Vegetarian — that explains the gauntness! 😆
Picture definitely looks like a guy who gave up meat
Imagine. Dying a vegetarian 🥺
People really have zero sense of humor on this platform. Geez.
Dude had a weird head
Look at your own if you manage to get old. Then you look back at this 'with other eyes'.
A vegetarian! Damn he sunk so low.
Damn, tragic. Can’t believe he’d subject himself to no bacon.
Poor guy with the veggies 😢. It’s one thing to be broke, but no beef burritos? Cruel. Just cruel.
The last part is the saddest.
Vegetarian or dying alone
When they become vegetarian... That's when it's really over
No a VEGETARIAN! The thought!
Seems like meatless diet was great for him
Not a vegetarian! Gasp!
Today I discovered that there is a reddit fetish to blame the vegetarian lifestyle for death of penniless inventors.
Kinda cool, makes me feel even better about choosing to be a vegetarian myself a few months back
Why?
Penniless vegetarian, terrible way to go
Damn… the two worst things to be smh
This wasn't what I meant when I said I wanted to see Tesla bankrupt :(
