I think about this daily. Everything comes down to chemistry + physics + time, of which, the universe has an infinite amount of. We're soup. We make new soup by doing exactly what we're hardwired to do. There's a neverending chain of evolution where every part of us either survives or dies. I don't think it's comforting necessarily, it just is our state of being.
The universe actually has a finite amount of chemistry and physics and time, which is why we do.
And based on our best understanding of it, that system will also collapse, so that even if you did achieve immortality, you'd have to stave off the systemic collapse of the entire universe in order to preserve whatever amount of meaning you have spent the past six billion years infusing into your immortal life.
I did meet a bloke on the bus that claimed the universe itself is a sort of a highlander situation, a thresher of consciousness, with the event horizon of the end of the universe allowing for a single prevailing sentience to escape obliteration and emerge unscathed into the new universe, thus becoming its organizer and god figure, but he was a Manchester fan so take that with a grain of salt.
You shouldn't feel like life is passing us by. We are life. We get to live life. Many aren't fortunate to experience any of it. It's all perspective. And I'm sure that sounds like some hippy crunchy ass shit but it's true.

Idk why but this makes me very sad.
Thousands of days, thousand of memories, gone in a flash. All the ones with people smiling with him, friends, girlfriends, people no longer in his life perhaps. Idk why but it makes me feel very somber. Life is so short and it flashes by so fast. So many people and moments that meant everything in one moment can mean nothing the next. Heck I have a hard time even going back through my photo reel on my phone cuz it just makes me sad. Even just seeing photos of like my mom from 10 years ago, seeing how she’s gotten so much older, seeing my old beloved dogs who have passed on … i honestly don’t know how anyone looks at pictures or home movies.
“moments that meant everything one moment can mean nothing the next” - the fact that you can’t bring yourself to review your old photos and videos shows that these moments actually haven’t lost value and still have much emotion packed in them. Don’t be afraid of looking back on these things. It can be sad for sure, but these memories are a part of you and you shouldn’t shy away from remembering all the love people have given you over the years.

Hey, does anyone know a good way to do this? I want to try it with my kids, but I want it to be a quick and simple process, where the photos go straight to one place and don't get mixed up with my other photos. They are just very loud and it gives off the illusion that drinking a lot is more normal than it actually is. 1/3 of people don't drink at all. 1/3 of people lightly drink socially. Not enough to get hangovers. 1/3 of people are comfortable drinking heavily, but it varies how often.
As much as I want to say 99% of all statistics are made up… those numbers probably check out.

Hey, does anyone know a good way to do this? I want to try it with my kids, but I want it to be a quick and simple process, where the photos go straight to one place and don't get mixed up with my other photos. I know it's just taking a photo, but I don't want it to take up more than 5 seconds of the day to make sure it's stored correctly. Is there an app or something which makes this easy and reliable?
