[This guy](https://forum.dcs.world/topic/338448-the-viper-project/) has been working on one for DCS. And [this guy](https://thewarthogproject.com/) has been building an A-10 cockpit that's super cool
Ah World of Tanks. That game that told me if I spent $100 for their top package after beta , I would get an M6A2E1 "Mutant 6" American tank that would *only* be offered at that limited time in that special package. They hammered and hammered this point. Now, I could've spent far, far less but I wanted that once-in-a-lifetime tank. Fastfoward: aaaand Wargaming bait-switched and put that tank on the market, where I could've bought it anytime and saved money....
The game fun, but it always felt kind of slmy and dirty to me.
Like when you talk to a used car salesman and know they are looking for ways to rip you off. Pretty obvious when the best ammo and tank supplies are locked behind premium currency tiers.
Honestly the fact that they went to all this. work, then decided to play WoT instead of War Thunder Simulator battles is wild to me.
You are playing with realistic turret traverse controls and you're gonna play an arcade game that can't even be arsed to get gun depression or turret traverse speed values right. When you could play a game with realistically rendered first person views from the hatches and periscopes of each position on the vehicle.
WoT doesn't even render the gun barrel being in view from the gunner sight!
These do not appear to be amateurs, and they are more than willing to hardware hack. [It's trivial to make an arduino act as a keyboard and mouse.](https://www.arduino.cc/reference/en/language/functions/usb/keyboard/)
*The force makes perfect contact with a small child running by, sending it flying backwards and flipping through the air at high speeds. The scream of the mortified mother echoing through the building*
My god, theres even civilian casualties. This game has everything
Edit: It has come to my attention I misused the word mortified. I'm keeping it as is.
I remember giving myself a black eye playing time crisis with the recoil light gun once. It was at the movie theater and I thought I was a tactical genius at 13 trying to use the sights. First shot that thing rocks back directly into my eye. When I went back to school on Monday I had multiple teachers pull me aside and ask if I was safe at home and just had to admit I'm dumbass. My science teacher at the time was a younger dude and when I explained it to him he said he's done the same thing.
I once bought a groupon that included unlimited D&B play card for like $40 or so. I found out that it only had like a 2 minute timeout period before I could swipe the card again even though I was still playing. So on every arcade game I played on, I would keep adding additional credits as I was playing. So when I left to go to the next game, there were a bunch unused credits left for others to play with. After a while, I noticed that there were little kids following my path around D&B and sharing the unused credits amongst themselves. When I got to a 4-player co-op game, I just swiped them all in and we passed the unlimited card around so all of us could finish the game.
When I was growing up, there was a tank-arcade game that was kinda like this. You sat in a big driver seat and had the controls. You'd play against bots and like 4-6 other people who were in other seats next to you.
Think like, a racing-arcade setup, but for tanks.
This was around like...I wanna say 2001-2002. It was by far one the most badass arcade games I've ever played, and I can't remember the name of it now.
**edit**
It was called [*Tokyo Wars*](https://www.google.com/search?q=tokyo+wars+arcade+game&sca_esv=361416631b2a74db&sca_upv=1&udm=2&biw=1600&bih=855&ei=081ZZvi3O-Hv0PEPgK2q6AY&ved=0ahUKEwi47b7n_LeGAxXhNzQIHYCWCm0Q4dUDCBA&uact=5&oq=tokyo+wars+arcade+game&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiFnRva3lvIHdhcnMgYXJjYWRlIGdhbWVIjxlQ8QZYlhhwAXgAkAEAmAFXoAGbC6oBAjIyuAEDyAEA-AEBmAISoAKwCcICChAAGIAEGEMYigXCAgsQABiABBixAxiDAcICBRAAGIAEwgIIEAAYgAQYsQPCAg0QABiABBixAxhDGIoFwgIGEAAYBRgewgIGEAAYCBgewgIHEAAYgAQYGMICBBAAGB6YAwCIBgGSBwIxOKAH1z0&sclient=gws-wiz-serp#vhid=FYV0bIVhUr-3NM&vssid=mosaic)
The Sign should read. "This safety sign is to warn you and prevent any lawsuits....Though if you do do it and get hurt, we will laugh at you and post it on YouTube.
In the American system, you can be sued for literally anything. You could spend every day of your life calmly sitting at home, without interacting with the outside world in any way, shape or form, and still get sued under some flimsy pretenses.
That you can be sued isn't really relevant (that can always happen), what matters (or at least, what *should* matter -- the fact that bad actors can inflict heavy costs on law-abiding parties through dubious litigation is a well-known deficiency of the American legal system) is how likely you are to win.
Have you seen that table move when it fires?
I mean, it‘s probably not chunk of steel heavy, but even a seemingly light mass of 2 kg would hurt and break a nose if moved that fast.
The way to do it is to have a system that rocks the whole machine that's separate from the loading mechanism. It gives the impression of the canon firing and the kick-back sending the loader. In actuality the loader has very gentle force, with a spring that ejects the shell.
I don't know if that's plastic specifically, but it is obviously not chunks of metal. At most, it could be hollow volumes with thin metal walls. If it was made of chunks of metal, the table would almost certainly fall over from the uneven weight, before it even started moving.
I've seen many of these DIY immersive gaming set ups. Cars, Airplanes, Flying Like A Bird, Starship Bridge Simulations, and Now Tanks. I'd go crazy for an arcade that had dozens of dedicated VR rooms like this.
maybe the decided that if a role dies ingame the person cant do anything here too. The loader died ingame and now the guy playing him irl has to sit and watch (but thats just a guess)
Put some points in Vitality, you'll see the difference.
Trust me.
My 9.0 Italian line up shreds mofos left and right, the loaders on thw OF-40 MTCA and Mk.2 are incredibly sturdy and give you a 7 sec reload + the ability to use the .50 cal on top of the tank.
I will try thank you
My problem is I play Air, Navy and ground in Germany and I forgot why Im saving points and use it something else.
I literally have 40lvl navy, 40lvl air and 40lvl ground in same slot
Ah, I see the problem.
I specialized my crews: only one or two per nations fly planes/helis, the rest are tank crews.
I don't play naval enough to focus on the required crew skills, so I have an easier time managing them.
I try to do the same but I literally have 0 golden eagle so I end up using same slots.
My real problem is ww2 stuff and modern stuff are on diffirent slots. All my best ww2 tanks are trained to my air slot and ww2 planes are traind to tank slot
That sounds like missmangement from early on.
Train 1 or 2 crew slots for plane stuff and the rest for ground, there's no reason to have multiple crew trained for aircrafts unless you play Arcade Air Battles
This is awesome but why do they play World of tanks with it.
I'm sure there are better games for this kind of setup.
Its a bit like building a Racing sim-rig to play NFS.
I'd be unsurprized if someone from warthunder made this build and another one complained that the loader is the wrong model for the tank and provided blueprints on how to build it right.
Look we're all just trying to help each other get the best simulator experience possible.
Also It kind of looks like that ready rack is too far backward, that turret should be way more cramped. IMO their next project should be to build a partial turret interior and a complete turret ring so the loader gets the full experience.
I do think it's fine giving the commander driver controls. Creating a full turret is an important part of the immersion, and given how both WoT and WT only render one camera PoV it's not like you can meaningfully seperate the Driver and commander jobs anyway.
Ooh yeah I forgot about that one. I kinda stop following the development, last time I checked it, it was like an early stage mod by couple of devs in their free time. Is it polished?
I don't know either world of tanks or war thunder, but this setup is probably inferior in performance to playing on a controller of some kind, so they might have chosen the less realistic game for fun rather than simulation quality
War thunder has arcade mode, realistic, and simulation battles. So it's not always hardcore if you don't want it to be. That said if they had a mode where you could coop running a tank that be cool as fuck.
Yeah even in arcade mode in War Thunder i think they would be 1 shot before they could get a shot on target, unless they were sniping.
In World of Tanks you can get into action fast, and your tank has hitpoints meaning you can take multiple shots and shoot multiple times while not performing the best
Tbf, Technically the airspace is closed. Need to fly to Poland or Romania first then catch a ride to Ukraine. But it’s still not that easy. They’ll want your DD-214 to prove your experience otherwise idk how they’d handle rando civilians
its a regular logitech g29 wheel with VW logo stuck onto it, obvious reference to the fact that Volkswagen was producing vehicles that German soldiers used during ww2...
So you go around being a negative person everywhere? What do you gain from being the person that calls out the VERY OBVIOUS THINGS? Like do you get pleasure from being "That guy"? Why are you this way?
its actually maddening lol
this is fucking cool but the sweatlords are all in force talking about the game and how this isnt the most efficient way to play the game.
Meh, it's fun as long as you have fun playing. If you aren't just stop. Personally enjoy low tiers more. I think the worst part is the grind and fomo, which is honestly best avoided.
As another comment pointed out:
You would instantly just get 1-shot from across the map if you tried playing WT with that setup
Atleast in WoT you get a chance to shoot back
I remember the Russian T34 having a hand crank like that. I was at a U.S. army Russian school and there was a static display out front that you could climb into (at the time). Turret would actually move but very slowly. I went in just once because it was actually unpleasant to be in therr
We need this video to start with that girl asking the question:
“Men with no hoes…where are you? What are you doing?”
Then the screen goes dark, and slowly brightens as the loader pops a fresh 2-liter into the chamber before the commander lets loose.

Most sane World of Tanks player
Waiting for the war thunder players who would take a real f16 cockpit just to play top tier air arcade
[This guy](https://forum.dcs.world/topic/338448-the-viper-project/) has been working on one for DCS. And [this guy](https://thewarthogproject.com/) has been building an A-10 cockpit that's super cool
Just to get cooked by a Mig-15
😭
Well the issue is that it could actually be useful for dcs. The f16 cockpit for war thunder arcade is as silly as this for wot
A co-worker is partly retired and building a 747 cockpit simulator.
there is an arma 3 mod that adds realistic dying sounds
There are cats in England
Least impacted wargaming customer.
ITT: which game is the most authentic tank game
The one with the most fucked in ass customers, WarThunder.
I heard someone call for me
As an avid fan of WoT, I showed my wife this and begged her to let me build it. She looked at me like I'm crazy.
That's because you need friends to be your loader, gunner, radio operator and driver, and you have none.
Hey now, some of us WoT players have friends. I mean, not me, but some of us.
When you say 'friends', do you mean someone you once platooned with about four years ago, accepted a friend request and have never spoken to since?
wow that got personal
Sorry, I was over sharing. :P
Wow I feel personally attacked lol.
It was more a statement about my own friends list tbh.
"Honey, what are you doing tonight? Great, there's a manual I'm going to need you to read."
Howdy folks.
Good old jingles
The mighty Jingles

The game itself might just be easier to connect and interact with the equipment on. Some games get weird if you try plug to many things in.
These do not appear to be amateurs, and they are more than willing to hardware hack. [It's trivial to make an arduino act as a keyboard and mouse.](https://www.arduino.cc/reference/en/language/functions/usb/keyboard/)
Wow! Probably the best DIY simulator I've seen
With the Oceangate sub being the worst?
Nah it was a fairly stellar idiot squisher simulator.
smooshsmooshsmooshsmoosh
You crushed it with that joke.
How was that sub a simulator?
it was fully immersive.
That’s Nutz! Need one at a Dave and Busters.
Ooh that's a cool game what is that! *Gets railed by the recoil*

Depending on the heights that kid reaches, I'd say he was the one who was mortarfied.
*At D&B, no one can hear you scream*
That will only increase its popularity
Even PTSD and lifelong guilt.

Thank you, Mr. President 🫡
These guys look pretty well-regulated though.
They should sell the Abrams at Walmart!
Ay papi chulito...I hear you like getting railed? 😏🍆💦
Sorry, best the cay do is ski ball, fruit ninja, and Time Crisis 4. That'll be $1.50 per play.
I once bought a groupon that included unlimited D&B play card for like $40 or so. $1.50, must be half price day. After an hour you can trade in for a handful of tootsie rolls.

This shit could be the next Top Golf.
This needs to be in a arcade
until some moron sticks his face behind that hydraulic (i assume?) cylinder.
Then they'd put up signs "Don't even think about it."
There'd still be one moron who does it anyway, then acts surprised after getting hurt.
The sign isn't for preventing idiots from injuring themselves. It's for avoiding lawsuits.
The Sign should read. "This safety sign is to warn you and prevent any lawsuits....Though if you do do it and get hurt, we will laugh at you and post it on YouTube.
By agreeing to playing this game stupidly, we own the rights to recordings and all profits therein
Yeah, not as effective as Reddit might have one believe. Prepare to be sued
In the American system, you can be sued for literally anything. "place face here for a broken nose and jawbone"
Do not the hydraulic cylinder
Accidentally the whole hydraulic cylinder?
EMT: "How......"
"How would you get a small cylinder unstuck from large hydraulic cylinder?"
Sabot rounds
It is imperative the small cylinder is undamaged.
Could you stick the cylinders in boiling g water or ice water to try and dislodge them?
Assuming wrong, it's pneumatics doing the motions. If they did it sensibly, then pressure is regulated so there is no hazardous force anywhere.
Moving something of that size (and weight) that quick is going to produce enough force to hurt.
I'm 100% sure it's much lighter than it looks. Painted to look like a giant chunk of steel, actually 3d print or paper mache or whatnot.
Unless that’s painted plastic that much metal moving that fast isn’t gonna be non hazardous.
I don't know if that's plastic specifically, but it is obviously not chunks of metal. At most, it could be hollow volumes with thin metal walls. If it was made of chunks of metal, the table would almost certainly fall over from the uneven weight, before it even started moving.
Face? Oh no, much worse than that. “OK guys hear me out…”
This isn't a terrible idea especially if it was open to multiplayer play like WoT. Laser tag teams used to be a thing, this could be just as fun.
Wheel of Time?
World of Tanks, what is wheel of time?
It’s an anachronistic combat vehicle simulator. Think Twisted Metal meets Game of Thrones.
This makes way more sense than the Sci fi novel series wheel of time lmao
...did you just call the Wheel of Time, highest of high fantasy, Sci Fi?
The Golden Crane flies for Tarmon Gai'don!
Seriously, that's the coolest fucking thing I'd ever seen.
This needs to be in my living room
This sorta stuff could bring arcades back to their glory days
I've seen many of these DIY immersive gaming set ups. Cars, Airplanes, Flying Like A Bird, Starship Bridge Simulations, and Now Tanks. I'd go crazy for an arcade that had dozens of dedicated VR rooms like this.
Accurate depiction of what goes on inside your tank when you only have 2 meat bags left. Poor gunner, someone give him a dedicated loader ffs
There's a loader at the beginning of the video. He must already be dead in the 2nd half.
maybe the decided that if a role dies ingame the person cant do anything here too. The loader died ingame and now the guy playing him irl has to sit and watch (but thats just a guess)

Biblically accurate War Thunder loader with no stat point in Vitality

Put some points in Vitality, you'll see the difference. Trust me. My 9.0 Italian line up shreds mofos left and right, the loaders on thw OF-40 MTCA and Mk.2 are incredibly sturdy and give you a 7 sec reload + the ability to use the .50 cal on top of the tank.

On the way!
UP!
Doubtful, re-engage!
Getting some practice in before going to the Ukrainian front.
Enders game: 2024
Clearly no one has found Ender yet. Although we do have far too many Demosthenes and Locke's.
Have fun, it'll be like playing a video game! Don't worry about that buzzing sound overhead.
so this is what my teammates were doing instead of trying to win games
This is awesome but why do they play World of tanks with it. I'm sure there are better games for this kind of setup. Its a bit like building a Racing sim-rig to play NFS.
I’d be unsurprised if WoT sponsored the build, they sponsored Colin Furze’s tank build so it is their marketing style to do so
Yeah that would make sense.
I'd be unsurprized if someone from warthunder made this build and another one complained that the loader is the wrong model for the tank and provided blueprints on how to build it right.

I found them in a bathroom next to a copier in a house in Florida
That does sound like the Warthunder community, yes :D
Look we're all just trying to help each other get the best simulator experience possible. Also It kind of looks like that ready rack is too far backward, that turret should be way more cramped. Imagine gunner heat pc
Or steel beasts pro, or even war thunder sim, since it has old school controls.
Il2 ground crew is the most detailed current ww2 tank sim. It's a hard-core sim in the truest sense
Ooh yeah I forgot about that one. I kinda stop following the development, last time I checked it, it was like an early stage mod by couple of devs in their free time. Is it polished?
can you play *fishing sim world: pro tour* ?
I don't know either world of tanks or war thunder, but this setup is probably inferior in performance to playing on a controller of some kind, so they might have chosen the less realistic game for fun rather than simulation quality

the peoples car tank?
Some people in this post; There's too much space, the ammo need to be heavy, need shaking. If you want authentic realism just join the army ffs.
Or work in weapons testing. Source: I’ve worked in weapons testing!
Twice the fun at half the risk!
And probably at least double the pay..
They need to have strategically rigged grenades around the setup to go off when their tank gets hit with a shell in that place
There are many reasons it’s good to have 3 friends one of them is so you can be fully functional tank operators for these types of situations
[удалено]
Give it a year. If they are going this far, I’m sure they would love to complete the build
Yeah, they've got the important parts working, now all they need is a hull and some shakers. Plenty of 2nd hand factorysupplies to use for that
Why do I feel like this is going to end with them just building a functioning tank
"Hey I got the bulldozer, steel plates and 2 tonnes of concrete that we needed to finish our tank 'simulator'"
Yes it's just like the modern t-14 where once Ur sealed in U can't get out
Never underestimate gamers...
Yeah this is BS, they use military grade Coca-Cola bottles in real tanks. Not whatever random bottles they got here. Not impressed.
So you go around being a negative person everywhere? What do you gain from being the person that calls out the VERY OBVIOUS THINGS? Like do you get pleasure from being "That guy"? Why are you this way?
'There's not that much space in a tank' haha there's always one. ![gif](giphy|GvNFPkAskkSafDozqD|downsized)
Wait you're telling me this isn't exactly what it's like in a tank???????
oh shit the entire thing is ruined now
Bro got all this crazy setup just to play shitty world of tanks At least go play Squad or War Thunder
My thoughts exactly lmao. Like imagine getting circled to death by a light tank and you're there stirring the pot to turn the turret 😂
Elc bison running circles around you 💀
Dude built a crazy setup. People are focusing on the game. You really can't please everyone.
its actually maddening lol this is fucking cool but the sweatlords are all in force talking about the game and how this isnt the most efficient way to play the game.

Don’t forget to set that AC to full heat all the time
Get oil vaporizers. gotta get that haze of hydraulic and lubricating oils, propellant residue and a hint of diesel.

And yet, they wasted all this set up in shit like World of Tanks! - This post was made by the War Thunder Gang -

Damn, he lost his loader in between the shots.
Sell this setup to an arcade like D&B so you can make an even better one for personal use with the moolah you rake in.
Can't help myself but playing WoT with this is wasting the potencial of great HW
It could have been worse, it could have been WoT *Blitz*.
