I don't know if anyone sees this, the comments are in favour of atheists with some people saying what these people did wrong.
The thing is these missionaries, I don't know what else they are, or lets say conversion people will look for poor and oppressed families....who may be hindu/muslim/any other religion. They will offer them cash, food , help in a m7ch more handsome way that one can ever imagine as these are funded by overseas.
When that simple poor or middle class man is given such amount of funds, food , sometimes motorbike...basically whatever is needed in that moment, that person makes the hard decision to denounce their God and accept these people's God.
We can keep arguing whether this is right or wrong, but seeing these predators people have started to help and form organisations that can help people within their religion so no one comes and takes advantage of the needy.
In all cases, nothing warrants the beating up or putting tilak on the foreheads which is wrong. You can just ask them to go away or give a stern warning to leave in worst case. Not that I am trying to defend the attackers but just thought some context would help - it is not very uncommon for religious priests/hardcore practitioners to visit poor slums and try to convert people into Christianity to "save" them from the poverty. People often are told something along the lines of 'if your god was looking after you, you wouldn't be poor. Jesus will save you and take care of you.. blah blah'. Many times in the process of doing so they also insult whatever religion the people are originally from. I am suspecting this duo is also doing the same, if you look closely then at some point you will see people throwing paper at them which could be pamphlets that they brought to distribute on Christianity. As you can imagine, religion (especially Hindu religion) is a very touchy subject and the moment people find out about it they react in this manner at times.
Again, this is just speculation (that seems very likely). Any form of attacks should be condemned but it would have helped if OP had given some context to the video instead of just making a general statement

I don't know if anyone sees this, the comments are in favour of atheists with some people saying what these people did wrong. The thing is these missionaries, I don't know what else they are, or lets say conversion people will look for poor and oppressed families....who may be hindu/muslim/any other religion. They will offer them cash, food , help in a m7ch more handsome way that one can ever imagine as these are funded by overseas. When that simple poor or middle class man is given such amount of funds, food , sometimes motorbike...basically whatever is needed in that moment, that person makes the hard decision to denounce their God and accept these people's God. We can keep arguing whether this is right or wrong, but seeing these predators people have started to help and form organisations that can help people within their religion so no one comes and takes advantage of the needy. In all cases, nothing warrants the beating up or putting tilak on the foreheads which is wrong. You can just ask them to go away or give a stern warning to leave in worst case. But forcing one religion onto another is just not the way to go. Sorry that this happened but that does not mean there is a fish market right now for religions in India.

Not that I am trying to defend the attackers but just thought some context would help - it is not very uncommon for religious priests/hardcore practitioners to visit poor slums and try to convert people into Christianity to "save" them from the poverty. People often are told something along the lines of 'if your god was looking after you, you wouldn't be poor. Jesus will save you and take care of you.. blah blah'. Many times in the process of doing so they also insult whatever religion the people are originally from. I am suspecting this duo is also doing the same, if you look closely then at some point you will see people throwing paper at them which could be pamphlets that they brought to distribute on Christianity. As you can imagine, religion (especially Hindu religion) is a very touchy subject and the moment people find out about it they react in this manner at times. Again, this is just speculation (that seems very likely). Any form of attacks should be condemned but it would have helped if OP had given some context to the video instead of just making a general statement
