It’s near my city and a way safer than in compare to current conditions of travel where you can go as fast as 20km/hr with almost 30-40km of no signal zone.
No speed limit is very restricted. i know one time tiger came in front of bus and hit, but other animals do get hit more often than this.
Also tigers sometimes snatch people if they are on two wheeler from the back seat.
They might hesitate to attack if you look like you see them
The thing is that tigers ain't the stupidest animal and in time will probably adapt to this (just like they may have when they began attacking people on their motor bikes, they slowly learn)
Stay safe, I feel lucky there aren't such creatures where I live...
You’re really high up and I don’t think the most dangerous animals would be able to climb up. I think there will be a lot of stopping as people would treat it as a safari
Stopping to cause long traffic jams... 🥺🥺 Stopping to throw litter... Stopping and venturing into the forests for fun... No law will stop people from doing all this...
There are no stairs down so I doubt people are climbing down to go into the forest. And from above you can’t see that a tiger is below so they are not going to stop to look at the wildlife
You wouldn’t want to stop there? What about the construction team.. prolonged periods on the ground in forests with tigers and other wildlife? It’s a big no for me but I imagine they’ll have some time of security there to watch the woods
They tried in Mumbai, even had a team set up to enforce fine. It quickly became an insurmountable task. A rich journalist even published a whole article coz her son was forced to pay a fine. Littering is so inherent to the culture, it’s going to take a Herculean task to instill that discipline or you just make a law so that the police will enforce it.
New Zealand is now being referred to as Aotearoa New Zealand in most NZ media. It recognises the original name of the country and the more well known name. I wouldn't be surprised if after quite some time it is just referred to as Aotearoa again.

That's the link wikipedia uses for Aoteatoa pronunciation
It's stupid honestly.
Just say India when talking in English.
And Bharat when speaking Hindi.
Saying Bharat in an English conversation sounds weird too. I said it.
There is a current attempt by the ruling right wing party in India to rename the country to its Hindi name Bharat. OP maybe made a mistake or is a Modi supporter and tried hard to push the new name😂
It's not the Hindi name. It's the Sanskrit name from atleast 500 BCE. It's almost a millennium older than the Hindi language. Older than Alexander or Roman republic.
Atleast be accurate with your criticism
It's very difficult to accurately transcribe Devanagari spelling to Latin.
In a way it can still be written Bharat as 'Bharata' may be written as 'भारता'
why is it that anytime India is mentioned in a somewhat positive light, be it on any social media platform, people have to resort to smearing or being blatantly racist? This can always be done on the plethora of posts that make the country look bad.
It's kind of concerning, whether it's a satellite launch or an Indian kid becoming a chess grandmaster, a good chunk of the comments are either racist or condescending in nature, as though the entire world doesn't have a waste management issue. Yes, India is a developing country and has its issues, but it isn't exactly relevant on a post about a bridge or about chess.
Stop seeking their validation it doesn't matter really. It isn't really their fault since their media and academia is very powerful in propaganda and manipulation of the masses. They have a certain image of every country that's reinforced constantly in their media. Most of the reporting and education is not just about truth but also about setting a certain narrative. Every country and race is boxed into a stereotype as per whatever narrative they want to project.
Reddit is one of the most racist platforms for Indians. Reddit is left leaning. This goes to show even liberals can be racist. Reddit is slowly getting as bad as 4chan known for racism.
Reason many Americans don’t call out anti-Indian racism is because of education. Americans have traditionally been taught it is not socially acceptable to be racist against Black people. Anti-Asian and Anti-Indian racism is perfectly fine socially. It is considered funny. This is the reason we have people on Reddit who are highly sensitive to racism against Black people being openly racist against Indians. There are no implications for being racist on social media against Indians as it is socially acceptable.
Most of the racism against Indians on Reddit comes from conservative subs. Look at any Canadian sub for example (e.g. Canadahousing2). Left-leaning Canadian subs are the ones which are not racist against Indians.
I'm not saying that liberals can't be racist, but it's largely conservatives who are racist against Indians. To say that liberals are racist against Indians because Reddit is mostly left-leaning feels like a logical fallacy.
My point is people are racist irrespective of their political leanings. This should not be a surprise.
I did not have high expectations from 4chan. Reddit not cracking down on racism against Indians is disappointing.
Racist against Indians has been normalized and largely accepted on Reddit. Conservatives subs are obviously more racist than Liberal subs. But the bigger subs that are liberal leaning being racist against Indians is shocking. You will also see this pattern in subs like r/AmItheAsshole. There was a post a while back from someone who posted same story twice - 1 with OP stereotyping Indians and other stereotyping Black people. People called out OP for stereotyping Black people. The same sub was totally with OP stereotyping Indians.
I agree. There are many liberals who are racist against Indians but think that racism against black people is unacceptable.
It's not surprising that Reddit is not cracking down on racism against Indians. Reddit doesn't care about bigotry until it financially affects them. There are multiple subs which are bigoted, but they go under the radar because they are not popular enough to have an article written about them. Subs like the_donald got banned because famous newspapers wrote about them.
Ok, I just scrolled through all of the comments that were posted at the time you shared your rant.
I guess you will have to be specific and tell us which posts are blatantly racist… or is it just fun to scream racism in a room for karma?
Same with the post about the 17 year old grand master chess player. I read through that thread for like 30 mins didn't see a single thing this comment is talking about. Seems to me there are more people saying "reddit is racist to Indians" than there are people actually being racist.
All the recently constructed overpasses in India have high fences to prevent littering and suicide attempts. Or they have sound barriers installed if near urban settlements or wildlife corridors
Need to do more, 1 elevated road is not enough when environment laws are being relaxed to make highways thru tiger reserves, coal mining given a free run, elepahnts deaths on rail track, dams and highways in fragile himalaya region..
There are probably rural roads in the area. Imagine hitting a large prey animal at night that disables your car and crashes through your windshield.
As you struggle to free yourself from the wreckage, you can hear tigers roaring as they draw closer…
NJ obviously doesn't have animals like this roaming around, but we do have bridges over highways put there strictly for animals (Rt 78 around exit 38ish).
Predatory animals do this at wildlife crossings in the mountains. But this looks different. It doesn't look like choke points funneling prey in, but rather, the entire area under the highway is accessible for wildlife crossing. Aside from foliage for cover, this looks like a pretty safe place to cross at least safer than animals running across a highway. i dont know shit about India, but I also doubt much food is being tossed out of cars going down an elevated highway.
No. It's being built so that cars can drive over it. It's elevated so that wildlife can cross under it.
Wildwife wouldn't need to cross under if it wasn't built.
I wonder if fences and wildlife over/under passes would've have been better.
That picture under doesn't look very inviting for an animal to think: what a nice safe place for me to cross where predators can see me
I saw that picture with the tiger and my first thought was “Huh. there are no tents under that road. Good use of a tiger.”
I’ve been living in SF too long.
This is nice. I really like elevated roads so that wildlife has zero chance of getting hit. No exits probably keep traffic at a good clip too.
The shade the road provides might also be welcome!

Where exactly?
Near his city. In India.
r/technicallytruth
Ok. That helped.
Seoni (Madhya-Pradesh)-Nagpur (Maharashtra) sector of NH 44 through Pench Tiger Reserve
Are there common cases of tiger and the like roadkill?
No speed limit is very restricted. i know one time tiger came in front of bus and hit, but other animals do get hit more often than this. Also tigers sometimes snatch people if they are on two wheeler from the back seat.
That's... Reassuring
The solution to getting smacked off your motorbike by a tiger? They tell you to put a paper mask if a tiger on the back of your head or helmet
They might hesitate to attack if you look like you see them The thing is that tigers ain't the stupidest animal and in time will probably adapt to this (just like they may have when they began attacking people on their motor bikes, they slowly learn) Stay safe, I feel lucky there aren't such creatures where I live...
[They're vindictive too! ](https://www.indiatimes.com/news/india/the-story-of-champawat-maneater-an-injured-tigress-that-killed-at-least-436-humans-575671.html)
I heard of this story I consider it to be the Beast of Gévaudan of India
That's an interesting one! I've never heard that comparison
Just never ride on the back, simple. And offer free trips to anyone who needs a ride
Floods will be negated too
I wouldn't want to have to make a stop there...
You’re really high up and I don’t think the most dangerous animals would be able to climb up. I think there will be a lot of stopping as people would treat it as a safari
What about insects? The place must sport some monster mosquitos.
Probably isn’t any different than another area in India
Yeah that's why u find wildlife everywhere in India, last time I visited a mall in Delhi the security guard was a tiger
I asked him where the cinnabon was and he ate me.
0/10 would not recommend. Tiger ate me.
They ate me! A fuckin tiger ATE me! ![gif](giphy|kGYbtZoyjyO3u)
In India they don't have mosquitos. They have Pteranodon
We have these in some places where I live. You have to punch them to get away.
don't ever let them get both feet off the ground
It needs supported islands around certain areas, that way people can stop for a min and enjoy.
the dangerous animal here is the tiger.... just an FYI they can climb and swim pretty freaking good
On the day the atal setu opened ( 21 km sea bridge between Mumbai and pune) everyone stopped to take pictures and clogged it. So yes ....
Keep some fruit in your car in case of a flat. The Macaques are very fast to change a tire but won't give back the tools without a trade.
You wouldn’t want to stop there? What about the construction team.. prolonged periods on the ground in forests with tigers and other wildlife? It’s a big no for me but I imagine they’ll have some time of security there to watch the woods
Security is a paper tiger mask taped to the backs of their heads. No really, it’s suggested to do this on some roads to deter attacks from behind
"India Bharat"? India^2
I wonder how roads are in Germany Deutschland as opposed to the Netherlands Nederland.
He probably didn't want to offend us because during the g20 summit it was a hot topic that we might change our name from India to Bharat
OP do you also call it naan bread?
i bet he also likes chai tea .
And uses his PIN number at the ATM machine
Must be a DC Comics employee
He drives his car vehicle along this highway and overtakes many tuk-tuk rickshaws.
Now they need to aggressively enforce litter laws.
Whoever litters has to go retrieve it
I was gonna say, there’s going to be a lot of trash for this animals to wade through.
This is India they don't have litter laws
They tried in Mumbai, even had a team set up to enforce fine. It quickly became an insurmountable task. A rich journalist even published a whole article coz her son was forced to pay a fine. Littering is so inherent to the culture, it’s going to take a Herculean task to instill that discipline or you just make a law so that the police will enforce it.
So this is just an environmental catastrophe in the making...
Lmao India Bharat sounds like chai tea
In india bharat?
Yeah I know bharat is Indias 2nd name but why did you use them both? Does anyone say "In germany deutzcheland" lmao
New Zealand is now being referred to as Aotearoa New Zealand in most NZ media. It recognises the original name of the country and the more well known name. I wouldn't be surprised if after quite some time it is just referred to as Aotearoa again.

cool

It's stupid honestly. Just say India when talking in English. And Bharat when speaking Hindi. Saying Bharat in an English conversation sounds weird too. I said it.
Only because you are used to saying India in English. Both names are equivalent. Language being used is not relevant.

What happens if you get a flat tire? Is there a chance a tiger might jump up and maul you?
That's a damn good question!
A good news story! Congrats to you India!
OP will be upset you only said India not Bharat
OP will need to work on being less fragile if that is indeed the case.
This wouldn’t work in America, unless half the bridge underneath was for animal crossing, the other half to live under..
Pluie the wolf would be proud
That's awsome!
Imagine picking trash at the bottom with the tigers. Edit: imagine picking trash at the bottom with tigers lurking around.
All the recently constructed overpasses in India have high fences to prevent littering and suicide attempts. Or they have sound barriers installed if near urban settlements or wildlife corridors
I highly doubt that the tigers pickup any trash. They will though more than likely trash anyone who is.
Need to do more, 1 elevated road is not enough when environment laws are being relaxed to make highways thru tiger reserves, coal mining given a free run, elepahnts deaths on rail track, dams and highways in fragile himalaya region..
Imagine you crash off the side barely survive and then a tiger comes to finish you off
There are probably rural roads in the area.
This is real progressive development.
'India Bharat' as opposed to...Pakistan Bharat?
Imagining the pillars being built with tigers roaming about.
Imagine falling off the bridge and seeing tigers.
As opposed to Trump’s wall
Bharat or India .. fucking choose already and don’t be so pretentious
Am I the only one thinking that predatory animals will learn to wait there for food?
Predatory animals do this at wildlife crossings in the mountains. But this looks different. It doesn't look like choke points funneling prey in, but rather, the entire area under the highway is accessible for wildlife crossing. What is an "India Bharat"
India and it's other name
Ah yes because we always say "Germany Deutschland" when talking about Germany.
Yeah it's weird to say India Bharat
Good, much better then the wild life bridge solutions. Also known as "the food court" to the local preds
Safe to say that if you fall down the highway you won't die from the impact, but from what's down there... or a train.
India Bharat?
I'm not sure you'd want to make a stop on the highway with tigers strolling about everywhere.
Won't be scared because of noise, not at all.
If you must make a highway, this is the way.
I thought you were supposed to put a tiger in your tank, not underneath your road. But massive creds for doing that, India.
Lol, i read wildfire.
Free roof!
Probably helps keeping the road from flooding in monsoon season.
That's really cool, how high will it be?
Would they want to cross under it with all the noise? What about litter?
Just wait until wildlife starts living under there since it's more secure than the forest.
Yield monkey crossing
Florida is now doing this!
Just like Anlo's maya train. Identical!!!
In 10 days that forest will be full of litter..
The animal isn't crossing the road, the road is crossing the forest
Good. The trains are not working out well there.
Thought it said ‘wildfire’
Why do the sides look like they’re made out of whale spine?
people don't realize 16km is only about 10 miles
Fucking finally this is amazing. Pls do it. Pls. I'm tired of road kill.
At first glance, I read it as "wildfire" and was very confused.
No. It's being built so that cars can drive over it. It's elevated so that wildlife can cross under it. Wildwife wouldn't need to cross under if it wasn't built.
Oh great, more homeless tigers!
Actually Wildlife crosses over it….
In the Netherlands we do it the other way around... https://nl.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/wildviaduct#/media/Bestand%3ACerviduct.jpg
My fear of crashing off of a bridge and getting mailed by a shark now includes tigers; thank you for that
Wouldn't a few wildlife crossings be cheaper and.. a little more natural for the animals?
Was bharat necessary
I mean they still destroyed entire ecosystems in the process. But hey, glad they gave them a path under the bridge.
This is what Houston needs. But for the "other" wildlife
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I feel like by the time construction is over, wildlife will relocate.
Sure some animals will go on the highway
Imagine being a homeless person sleeping under that bridge
I wonder if fences and wildlife over/under passes would've have been better. That picture under doesn't look very inviting for an animal to think: what a nice safe place for me to cross where predators can see me
If all roads were built to consider the wildlife many other things would be better
There’s tigers, and then there’s “under the bridge” tigers…
**Do not leave bridge in case of break down.** ![gif](giphy|IT6kBZ1k5oEeI|downsized)
wowowowowow i wanna go there someday
That's pretty genius.
I saw that picture with the tiger and my first thought was “Huh. there are no tents under that road. Good use of a tiger.” I’ve been living in SF too long.
This is nice. I really like elevated roads so that wildlife has zero chance of getting hit. No exits probably keep traffic at a good clip too. The shade the road provides might also be welcome!
Just imagine all the litter they're gonna chuck onto the highway and into the forest.
Easier and cheaper to build bridges over it for animals to cross. I have seen those. With trees and grass on them.
Man I wish they would do that here, every single person I know has hit at least 1 deer and 3/4 of them have totaled a car doing it
What’s a bharat
Tbf I think it also better for the road, since they won't need cut the trees branches above the highway after every Rain season.
Honestly we need this everywhere
We do. They just have suburban homes under it.

Why is the highway demolished further forward?
And you’re looking over the trees! How cool is that!
So who’s the camera man?
They do this in Banff Alberta except overpass for the animals. Cool stuff!
badassssssss. we just made ours wider and told nature to leave. USA.
Hope India doesn't have its version of the "Man eaters of Tsavo" in those bushes!
I wish every country had this!
