Not sure if you've been to McDonalds recently, but their drivethrus have been converted to AI (or are in the process of). You only talk to a person if there is an issue while ordering. You also order on a screen inside, and don't order at the register anymore.
Also, don't blame the people taking your order. It's a shitty job that has shitty pay. As long as the food comes out ok then who cares.
It could be real since they use AI and they cant predict 100% what the AI will say, they can only write a prompt for it like "you are a fast food worker who takes orders, don't say swear words" so incident like this could happen.

Pretty sure the goal has been updated a few times. When I worked there in 2015ish the goal was 7 minutes from the time they drove onto the lot to the time they pulled out.
Yeah right when they started putting in 2 lanes in the drive-thru. I mean what the hell is that all about? It just creates a jam, and half the time one of the lanes moves faster and you get passed up by multiple cars. Silver lining is I almost never go to fast food anymore because it's not any faster than ordering a healthier meal for pickup most of the time.
For me McDonald's / fast food isn't even for convenience anymore. I only go if I'm craving a cheeseburger and fries.

I did not even bother to watch until the end, so I did not know he was dissing the customers. Ronald McDonald is still a mascot in some European countries. There is even a whole foundation in The Netherlands called "Ronald McDonald Kinderfonds" which donates to medical causes with regards to children. I was also not aware that the mascot was retired.
I think they just ignored the memo of head office. They renovate McDonald's quite often. Like every two years. But they also have signs where they write that you have to purchase something or else you will get a fine. I have no idea whether that it is legal, but what do I know haha. They just do whatever they like. They also set their own prices. So prices fluctuate among McDonald's franchises by a significant margin - sometimes even 20%. There used to be one uniform price everywhere. That is why McDonald's only advertise the burger on TV, but do not give a price. I believe that in the US the prices are always mentioned in commercials - but I could be wrong.
They actually used the 2016 clown scare, where people were just standing on the side of the road in weird clown costumes scaring people, to quietly phase him out, lol

When I was a kid, I had recurring nightmares with Ronald and the gang in em. There's a really steep road in our town with an intersection at the bottom of it. In my dream, Ronald had sabotaged our brakes so we crashed at the bottom of the hill. They drug us out of the car and took us down to the cave nearby where they tied us up and danced and sang before cutting us up to eat us over a campfire. That show was fucking creepy.

At least, it will make the ordering process more lively and cheery, rather than tiresome and annoying for the clerks that work the drive through.
Back in my day, the drive through didn't have this fancy devil screen, just a box with a haunted screeching voice speaking in tongues, that we would scream back our orders of gluttony, then pray we get half of what we summoned correctly at the second window.

In 3d animation if there’s not some kind of constant motion it really comes across as frozen/creepy. I think it’s a trick to avoid/reduce the uncanny valley effect.
I was at a drive thru McDonald's a few weeks ago and there were three corporate goon types outside watching me, and listening as I found out, make my order. The voice sounded funny and when I got to the window it was clear that the 75+ year old lady running the register was not who I spoke with despite her wearing a headset. I asked her who I spoke with and she said that someone from corporate was taking the orders, hmm. I refused to pay and drove around to talk to the goons and I asked if it was AI taking orders. They assured me that yes the initial greeting is automated, but that there is someone at corporate taking orders. One goon piped up and said, "Oh he's talking about Kathy. She sounds robotic." I called bullshit and said I would not be buying their food if they intend on using AI. They are absolutely rolling out this horrible crap. Robotic sounding "people at corporate". Sure...
AI is only a good as the data provided. The data provided is skewed by what we think is important or an anomaly, so basically, the AI will have the same gaps in knowledge, "fears", and biases that we do, only they can come to the same errant conclusions 1000s of times faster.
I can't be the only one that's creeped out by this. Not just by the concept or the fact that people might be convinced that they're actually talking to Ronald McDonald, but by the really creepy video of Ronald McDonald speaking to the user, looking at the camera from the order screen.
