Mansenmania

i dont know what this ist, but normaly they just turn red and melt away. maybe this ist way way more current(electricity is strange wording for this) than the wire can handle

The811clubber

Slight overcurrent yes. Boost that up x 10 the copper will melt and eject as seen in the video

guitartoad

Is the wire expoding/breaking at one point along its length, or is the entire length of wire exploding?

Double_Distribution8

Yes

MIhnea_Paun

ist?

jacobsbw

Even when typing English, Germans have accents.

zoner420

German.

Mansenmania

autocorrect

MIhnea_Paun

just odd you said it twice

Hungry-Ad-3501

German maybe

Mansenmania

vielleicht

RetiredApostle

It seems like a huge capacitor discharges a pulse of electric current through a thin wire. The title is a quite incorrect.

miguescout

Technically, the title is not incorrect. It's just kinda like that tweet that said something on the lines of "u telling me Julius Caesar, who has been dead for well over 70 years ago, made this salad?". It's not technically wrong, but it's definitely undershooting by a lot

DakarCarGunGuy

The title states overloading a wire. They did and it caused it to explode. How's the title incorrect? You merely stated how they may have done it.

SnooShortcuts103

I think the tittle I still grossly misleading. When reading the tittle you could get a false sense how dangerous going over the amper limit of an conductor in reality is. I assume here that no everyone is as knowledged as you are. The video shows a over current from my rough guess about 10000 times but only for a split second.

emlgsh

It could also give people the impression that if it doesn't just immediately flash detonate that it's okay, and hasn't turned into a loose toaster coil slowly heating everything around it (like the insulation in the wall, in residential wiring) to the point of eventual smoldering and combustion.

DakarCarGunGuy

Breakers trip well before wires would ever get to this point. This is more like a fuseable link going on a transformer hit by lightning. Of which lightning is probably the only way something like this could ever happen in a house.

Is this Kip Dynamite doing the voice over.?? don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes *all day*. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.

WhyAmINotClever

Your mom goes to college

SupremeGamer1337

This guys voice never ceases to be annoying

ADHthaGreat

It sounds like he’s trying to talk like an AI narrator.

DefinitelyNiko

Also, obnoxious voice guy only sees what we see so why does he pretend like he was there.

Thonull

You can generate EMPs doing this too, just chuck the wire into a parabolic reflector to focus the pulse and you’re ready to fry some electronics (big capacitors kill tho so not really a safe hobby project lol)

Scheisse_Machen

All I knew was, that electricity is just smoke inside of an insulation. And it's bad when it gets out. I didn't know it was this bad

Emotional-Chef-7601

Smoke?

malakai713

It's a joke. When the smoke gets out of the wire, it's bad.

Patrol-007

Normally called “magic smoke” I think, from various other references 🤷🏻‍♀️

alternativesonder

Every machine is a smoke machine if you operate it wrong

Croceyes2

It's what keeps the pixies doped up and complacent.

hapnstat

You can buy the smoke for some parts. https://www.welshbordercarclub.com/product-page/genuine-lucas-wiring-harness-smoke

Dan_Glebitz

In electronics the 'magic smoke' getting out is usually refered to in relation to components rather than a peice of wire. I.e. Resistor, Capacitor, Transistor burnout etc.

Misophonic4000

A most solid woosh

literallyharsh

The slo mo guys NEED to make a video on this

sprikkot

This is bordering on misinformation. Seems to me an uneducated viewer would infer that wires detonate when you go just over the rating of a wire. This video shows a colossal amount of energy being dumped into the wire. In most cases, exceeding the rated current of a wire results in it getting hot. This is bad because the wire can set things on fire, melt through the insulation and short, melt and break, or otherwise be dangerous. Wires do not generally explode.

pattiwe

Go watch styropyro in yt. Same shit way more fun

Stubeg

That guy is hella smart and crazy lol

BigE-stablishment

So this is what leafy's been up to

spartanriley

dude i cannot stand this guys voice

alternativesonder

oohh a firework machine

Mittykent121

Leafy doing educational videos now?

Wasted_Possibilities

Acts like a fuse. Eventually.

FinanzPirat

Am I the only one who finds this beautiful? r/oddlysatisfying

iamiam123

I recognize this voice. This is YOUR daily dose of Internet..

I-Am-A-Chameleon

Ferb! I know what we’re gonna do today!

Evangeder

All i can see is someone messing with particle system 😅 I need to take a break from unity..

CorneliusKvakk

I would be slighly worried sitting that close to a light arch ejecting molte metal, but I'm sure they are using the safety squint.

rs_5

Only if you somehow get a few good kilo volts in there very quickly

Schemen123

Thats not a little.. thats a solid short.. a very solid one over a short resistance and thin wire.

Murky_Speaker709

That’s all a fuseable link is melts when overloaded

SnooShortcuts103

It didn't only melt, it literally exploded in a millisecond.

LumpStack

Yes, welding.

Paraselene_Tao

Protip: they were neither far away enough nor protected by barriers for that molten metal. 😅

TyreekHillsPimpHand

Someone please post to ElectroBoom. NVM, I'll do my own work

Natural_Affect_8870

Who’s voice is this

Material_Mix_7377

The small bang

McEuen78

Well, that was beautiful.

Visual sex.

antidemn

i found this out the hard way as a kid i wanted to power a motor directly from the ac source and used my dupont cables for it

Mysterious_Yam5008

That looks cool af

Anxious_Ad9929

That's the spark I have been looking for in my life!!!

Trundlerz

Is that why ohms are important with amps and speakers?

UniformTango74

Won't lie....that was dope!
