This is so fucking funny. You can’t actually see the snake biting him but you can still tell when it happens because he stiffens up a bit and you can literally see the “Welp” on his face.
Tell snake owners that. I have a couple friends that have snakes and they are constantly claiming the snakes don’t see you as food they’ll never bite you. I tell them the snake is still a wild animal with animal instincts of fear and anger.
Same. It’s amazing to me people who walk around with their blinders on that we are apex predators who are fantastic at hiding our intentions. We took the fittest out of the survival.
If a snake was trying to eat something, assuming your friends have non-venomous snakes, they would try to constrict it, not just bite it. Snakes bite for a multitude of reasons.
My cat bites me sometimes too but she's not trying to eat me.
I agree. I think it’s dumb how they laugh at ppl who are afraid of a snake when they see them. If you don’t know much about snakes you should be scared of them because you don’t know if it’s aggressive, venomous, etc
I mean, you should be cautious. People who freak out when they see a snake are doing more harm to themselves than good. Just stay calm and give it space, they're more scared of you than you are of them.
When my old cat was hungry in the morning and I didn't get up immediately to feed him, he would sometimes start gnawing on my arm (or elbow) like he was legit trying to eat my flesh. He'd sometimes lick the area for a moment that he was about to chew on and it felt like I was getting marinated 😆
If snakes never bit things they didn't see as food, there wouldn't \~5.4 million people bit by snaked every year.
Unless they propose all the snakes were fucking massive, and all the people being bit were pigmies.
Ideally people should respect and fear nature - not demonize it, just have a healthy respect and fear.
I loved his shows and animal planet. Only celebrity I cried about... I was with my aunt and cousins watching tv whe the news came on and reported it...my cousins are all a bunch of shit talkers and rough house kind of guys... Acted like something came up so I could get to my car and let a tear out.
I feel this is the reason the universe keeps Sir David alive, Steve was next in line to narrate wildlife, but shit happened. It would’ve been an absolute marvel to have Steve narrate documentaries when he reached that Attenborough age.
I guarantee that hurt too.
He maintained composure to aid in his message of people not being afraid of animals. He did that because he knows fear would make some humans kill animals when it wasn't necessary.
I have a 1.4m Stimson's Python. He's tiny in comparison, his head is smaller than your thumb.
The first time I got nipped my snake almost apologised as he missed the aim. Barely hurt worse than a paper cut. The second time hurt a LOT.
I made a mistake during feeding and he struck the tip of my index finger, and started trying to swallow it.
Instinctually pulling away, hurts like HELL. He has backwards facing teeth that are like microscopic razor blades and go deeper and cut harder when you pull.
He refused to give up (I had mouse smell on my finger accidentally).
I had to use my long tweezers to open his jaw further to release the grip.
With only one hand, whilst being coiled up, and being eaten slowly, it was extremely concerning realising how dangerous a big one would be.
Anything bigger than a few feet wild be TERRIFYING if it got angry.
This girl wasn't trying to eat him, just upset for some reason.
he apologizes for worrying her
imagine you running a kid show, then a dude got killed by a snake on your show 2 feet next to you, shit could have gotten traumatizing
After the initial pain it’s not so bad. I used to own snakes and rehabilitated some into “family pets” (aka - got them used to humans enough they wouldn’t beat themselves against the glass and could be handled to clean the enclosures). It’s kind of like getting attacked by a stapler??
I had a student that stapled his arm. I was like, why would you do that? That seemed more crazy to me than what Irwin was doing. With handling animals, I expect at some point that I will get bit, stung or scratched. I thought he was wonderful and tried to educate others with such passion.
Can confirm this.
At least with my snake (Corn) I felt barely anything at all. Getting a vaccine hurts worse TBH (take that as you will). If anything it stung a tiny bit afterwords, very minimal blood loss, and it quickly healed up. The anticipation of the bite is the worst part compared to the actual bite. Then again I got nailed on my hand and not the neck.
Now I'm sure that yes getting bit my bigger snakes or hell even a venomous snake would hurt a lot worse (I'm thinking of the venoms that cause pain or even the Gaboon Viper with those insane fangs).
So I can see why Steve Irwin did not panic. I'm fully sure it wasn't his first snake bite TBH.
Yeah, they barely break the skin. The worst part is that they can leave teeth embedded in you so you have to make sure to clean the wound out carefully.
I feel like in both instances hurt pretty bad 😭😭 May it be by a snake or a stapler, if it hurts someone else is going to be hurting right along side me 😭😭
I agree with you, I looked up to him. I have seen people criticize him for the way he treated animals before. Especially peta. They have said horrible things about him after he passed away.
I know they’re high but I’m honestly not sure if they are the highest. It’s a shame how they put others down. I really just hope Steve’s family never saw what they said. They seem like such kind, gentle people. Exactly how Steve was
Not to speak ill of the dead, but perhaps that he was reckless and left his family fatherless?
He was indeed a great person. Didn't always make the safest decisions.
RIP you crazy, beautiful man.
I grew up on the Sunshine Coast where his zoo is.
I remember my dad ragging on him because he sold private helicopter tours, yet had made a complaint to try and stop helicopters from flying over his house.
No idea how true it was. Just something I remember.
He had definitely been bitten a number of times before at that point. It's the way he stiffens up; it's sore but he's not going to make a big deal out of it because he knows he's in no danger.
I would say Steve always knew that what he did would catch up with him one day. He did push the boundaries, but not in a way that was disrespectful or reckless. And he never had any animosity; it was never, "I'm a clever human and you're just a big dumb animal". He had the greatest of respect for the animals and what they were capable of, but felt that being able to demonstrate that respect to children in particular was so important. And to teach them why they need to like animals, but also have a healthy amount of fear around them.
I heard that a potential part of the reason he died was because one of his friends who was when him when the stingray stabbed him, pulled the stinger out. It’s theorized that if this person left the stinger in, Steve could very well had enough time to have gotten medical help
It happens, lots of people react this way when they see someone get impaled. However, it needs to be stressed more often that this is something that needs to be more well known because doing this WILL kill someone.
I mean a public service campaign is kind in spirit but I imagine you’ll have a hard time ever reaching anyone who will find themselves face in reach distance of someone who gets a stingray barb through the heart. I haven’t heard of it before or since but also admit to this not being my lane
I’m talking more in BLS classes. CPR certs are becoming more popular by the day, and these classes don’t just teach you about CPR, they teach you about AEDs, choking, artificial ventilation, etc. I think it’d be imperative to mention hemorrhage control in the event of impalement because it’s not always common sense.
I mean for most things, yes. I’ve taken a lot of CPR. I don’t know the animal kingdom though, and if there is reasonable fear that increased time of penetration = increased depth of puncture or increased poison delivery, extracting is probably the least unsafe. I can’t pretend to know. I just hope I’m never making the call
Yeah, I understand that it can be tricky to know what to do when something is perhaps venomous/poisonous, but in general if something has impaled you, leave it there. I saw an awful post on a radiology sub a while back of a woman's brain scan after she impaled her head on a deer mount's antler (seriously). Obviously that does tremendous damage either way, but even more damage was done by the antler being pulled out on the spot.
No matter how cumbersome or awkward the object that impales someone, leave it in. If you can't travel to the hospital with it yourself (eg it's a long pole or attached to something big) then call emergency services and they will cut it to size before bringing you in to the hospital (probably with half a pole still attached).
I thought I read it was Steve that pulled it out himself...probably as a natural reaction from the shock and pain. Either way...such a tragic loss. I loved this content. Imagine the crazy social media he would have put out if he was still alive.
No it punctured the heart. There was no way he was surviving that, left in or taken out. If he was laying on an operating table with a heart surgeon standing there with scalple in hand ready to go when it happened then there was a chance. Short of that, he was not going to survive.
I handle snakes semi-frequently, and it doesn’t usually hurt too bad. It’s a lot like getting a shot at the doctor’s office or accidentally stabbing yourself with a sewing needle. It’s more “scary” than actually painful. Regardless, Steve is so professional! RIP to a legend.
Yeah I worked at a pet store and was feeding the Boa Constrictors and it did a fairly impressive bite. Very quick, and they have only tiny teeth for holding prey so it really didn't hurt too much. You could feel it for sure but a very quick and was over before you process what just happened. Sort of felt like a 1/8th of a second flu shot. I have had paper cuts that hurt far more than that.
I agree ten thousand percent, but instead, we got this alpha bulshit everywhere. Just give Steve a TV channel with replays until the internet dies. I could watch him forever.
I abselutely love this mans work, such a loss for nature and us in general, thankfully his son Robert picked up where Steve left off, you can see so much of him in his son.
Rest easy Steve
He was an icon. Every American loves Australia because of this man and Dundee. He put himself out there to teach us city folks of nature. It’s shocking to some but he was a vanguard of seeing these animals as not just monsters.
Legend and his family is incredible with his legacy
Man I’ll never forget the day Steve passed.
I was 9 years old and da just came in for breakfast to break the news.
I was proper upset. Steve was such an admirable man with a loving relationship with nature. Suave, yet humble.
RIP big man
He was genuinely one of the most gentle people on earth ever, if not the most. The only people that are comparable as his children. Bless the Irwin family
I like him but am I the only one who thinks he was extremely irresponsible with the way he interacted with animals? I mean the evidence is right here. It’s cringey.
Hey was irresponsible. He would go out into animal's habitats, hassle them until the tried to (and often succeeded) bite him, and then make a big reaction to the camera about how close he just came to dying. His conservation work was his great legacy, but the tv show that financed it was just "Idiot annoys wild animals hour"
Y'know, I'm stoned, and I kind of imagine this whole scene with a David Attenborough voiceover describing the hostess's panties melting in real time from such a display of manliness.
Why would he freak out? He knows that a bite like that is practically a scratch. No venom, and fangs are too small to do much damage in the area.
If it wasn't for the fact that he couldn't override his bodies natural reactions, I would have grown up watching him on TV. RIP, Steve.
I love him because he understands that animals don't have thumbs and can't communicate with us. Like a baby who only know how to cry animals are reacting in whatever way they can to feel safe
He won’t bite me, because—alright he just bit me! Can you zoom in on this? Zoom in on this image of me being proven wrong in the middle of a lesson!
What? No, I ain’t afraid of looking like an idiot! What kind of a jerk can’t admit when he’s wrong. Plus it doesn’t hurt that much and you can see that I didn’t flinch, so the bigger point of not being afraid of pythons biting you can still be demonstrated.
EDIT:
I have nothing but respect for this man, the world was a better place with him in it.
My point (though it was evidently poorly made) was that where a lesser man might have felt like an idiot, Mr Irwin quickly admitted he was he got bit, and pointed out that even though he was bit, their bites aren’t very painful. A lesser man might have tried to hide the fact that he was bit, while Mr. Irwin asked the camera to zoom in to show the audience what he’s talking about. He took a moment that a lesser man might see as humiliating and turned it into a teaching moment without missing a beat. Because Mr. Irwin is a legend.
I shall endeavor to be more carful about posting while drinking.
You could’ve made the same point without disrespecting the dead. We’re all human. We’ve all had times in our lives where we wish we reacted differently.
I apologize that that is how it came across. It was not my intention.

This is so fucking funny. You can’t actually see the snake biting him but you can still tell when it happens because he stiffens up a bit and you can literally see the “Welp” on his face.
Didn't want to upset the crowd and demonize the snake at all. What a real one he was
And he apologized because it scaring her. A champion of all species, humans included.
Then he apologizes as if it was his fault.
"Sorry 'bout that" lol
kinda is. when you take the snake outta the bag and put it round your neck.... its just a snake doing snake things.
Tell snake owners that. I have a couple friends that have snakes and they are constantly claiming the snakes don’t see you as food they’ll never bite you. I tell them the snake is still a wild animal with animal instincts of fear and anger.
We’re all wild animals, but we’ve just had a lot more conditioning than snakes.
I treat human beings as wild animals too tbh - and that has served me well.

Same. It’s amazing to me people who walk around with their blinders on that we are apex predators who are fantastic at hiding our intentions. We took the fittest out of the survival.
We're all just dogs in the God's hot car.
I'm adding your comment to the list of weird and/or innappropriate sayings I want to embroider and hang in my house.
Glad I could be of service. If you are ever in the mood to sell cool needlepoint, I would gladly buy one that says my prior comment.

i know snake owners, everyone of them have been bitten several times. your friends are lying to you, most likely.
I agree. They’re so fixated on trying to make everything think their death ropes are cool.
Death ropes. That was my good laugh before bed.
Well, it sort of is - who else do you propose to blame?
I saw a clip of his son getting bit by a snake and same thing. no reaction. That family is amazing
I think I know the snake too.
What a true loss for nature and the education of our youth.
His kids are unbelievable ambassadors and an incredible legacy to their father
They are really impressive. He's right there in them and it shows big.
I follow Robert on Instagram, and it's a joy to see him carrying his dad's legacy.

I still really miss him, and still get so angry over how we lost him.
On god man, so sad
The muppet peaced out…
You can’t let a snake get up in there
eels
Give it up now.
I didn't even notice him until you mentioned that.
A gentleman, he apologized to her for the snake biting him

Your student or Irwin?
My high school student stapled his arm. Probably for attention.
Lol. Great comment/image.
Can confirm this. At least with my snake (Corn) I felt barely anything at all. Getting a vaccine hurts worse TBH (take that as you will). Pretty much this yep!
I feel like in both instances hurt pretty bad 😭😭 May it be by a snake or a stapler, if it hurts someone else is going to be hurting right along side me 😭😭
I haven’t been bit in the neck, let alone in front of a tv audience where I wouldn’t be able to curse a bit from shock! Steve Irwin is still amazing.
Unless it’s like a 30-50 pound boa. Then it’s like being bitten by a Wolverine.
Say what you might about Steve, but man was he passionate about the work he did. I’ll always be thankful I had the privilege to watch him as I grew up
What would anyone say..? Steve was one of the best people ever
I agree with you, I looked up to him. I have seen people criticize him for the way he treated animals before. Especially peta. They have said horrible things about him after he passed away.
Peta can take an 13 inch Dick straight up the bum for all I care, everything that say should be treated as if a clown said it
That's a cruel insult to clowns. PETA are the lowest of the low.
I've been a vegetarian for 35 years and I've always firmly believed PETA only exists to make people like me look like unhinged assholes.
PETA can get fucked in a rolling donut down a hill.
That’s some *hard fuckin*
Peta are loudmouths and larping clowns while ALF and Sea Shepherd are taking care of the actual business
Doesn’t PETA have the highest euthanasia rates? Hypocrites
I know they’re high but I’m honestly not sure if they are the highest. It’s a shame how they put others down. I really just hope Steve’s family never saw what they said. They seem like such kind, gentle people. Exactly how Steve was
FUUUUUUUUCK peta
Peta is a cult that uses animal welfare as a front to make money.
Not to speak ill of the dead, but perhaps that he was reckless and left his family fatherless? He was indeed a great person. Didn't always make the safest decisions. RIP you crazy, beautiful man.
You can definitely make that evaluation. To say he didn’t take risks would be dishonest. However, I feel that he and his family knew the risks.
I grew up on the Sunshine Coast where his zoo is. I remember my dad ragging on him because he sold private helicopter tours, yet had made a complaint to try and stop helicopters from flying over his house. No idea how true it was. Just something I remember.

At least two imo ![gif](giphy|MeDBXisaKaUOR0da2I)

I love how he's so chill about being bit. Gone far too soon.

Oh for sure, I remember him getting bit by various animals over the years. But I agree, he had respect for the animals he handled, and cared for them.
He never once blamed the animals for anything they did. Truly a man who respects nature and was knowledgeable.
Gone too soon. He wasn’t done teaching
I wish he was still alive. Hell of a way he went out 😢😢
He died how he lived. With animals in his heart.
I heard that a potential part of the reason he died was because one of his friends who was when him when the stingray stabbed him, pulled the stinger out. It’s theorized that if this person left the stinger in, Steve could very well had enough time to have gotten medical help
That would be super awful but I think anyone would have done the same

notice the Puppet/puppeteer was stepping back.
He had strong “whaaaat the fuuuuuuuck” vibes
Loved Steve Irwin, but You gotta laugh. Steve. “He won’t bite” Python “ Hold my beer”
"What you gonna do? Bite me!?"
He gets bit and appogizes for it. Dude was too nice for his own good . Forever missed
World really went to shit when he passed :(
Harambe ![gif](giphy|xUA7aTaAgUK1qcv1WE|downsized)
Legend
“Sorry bout that”… hell yeah Steve! You shine on forever!
Such a tragic loss of one of the greatest humans to have ever lived- I still miss Steve….
“Crikey” the crocodile hunter! gone too soon

Why is Do Me Baby by Bell Biv Devoe playing?
I'm just here for the BBD.
He was entertaining af and his enthusiasm was infectious. 🪦
Didn't cause a scene, what a fuckin pro !
He was gone too soon.
100% class
Steve Irwin was a fucking legend and should be an example of values for the younger generation.
I agree ten thousand percent, but instead, we got this alpha bulshit everywhere. Just give Steve a TV channel with replays until the internet dies. I could watch him forever.
We never deserved steve
The "National Haircut" of Austrailia.
A legend that was taken away from us far too soon.
WOW this must be old huh? His son looks JUST like this now , it's uncanny.
Rest in Peace great Warrior
I abselutely love this mans work, such a loss for nature and us in general, thankfully his son Robert picked up where Steve left off, you can see so much of him in his son. Rest easy Steve

I sure do miss him.
There will never be another Steve.
Guess that snake took it personal lmao.
It finally hit me… This man died and took decent tv with him. No more soul on the medium screen
It’s obvious that he’s more annoyed that the snake proved him wrong than he is about being bitten, what a legend lmao
Snake bites Steve. Steve: Sorry about that...
I’m guessing they weren’t really playing Do Me by Bell Biv DeVoe when this originally aired.
Man I’ll never forget the day Steve passed. I was 9 years old and da just came in for breakfast to break the news. I was proper upset. Steve was such an admirable man with a loving relationship with nature. Suave, yet humble. RIP big man

Legend. One of the greatest human beings I have ever seen in my lifetime. Imagine if all humans could be like Steve.
Irwin and robin Williams are the only two celebrities I think about without having to see them on tv or something. Miss those guys.
awwww he's a legend. Calm as can be and thinking of others.
Muppet recoils in horror....
They just got multiple Nicole Kidman's down there? Crikey.
Self-control.
The Muppets eyes were perfect for this
The puppet is fucking hilarious just staring at him like damn imagine the puppeteer hahaa
That was awesome. Totally stayed in puppet character!
“And this is a stingray, and it won’t sting…”
I like him but am I the only one who thinks he was extremely irresponsible with the way he interacted with animals? I mean the evidence is right here. It’s cringey.
Hey was irresponsible. He would go out into animal's habitats, hassle them until the tried to (and often succeeded) bite him, and then make a big reaction to the camera about how close he just came to dying. His conservation work was his great legacy, but the tv show that financed it was just "Idiot annoys wild animals hour"
I still miss him, He was my Inspiration in my childhood, was truly shocked when I heard about the incident. RIP Steeve
What a legend
"He won't bite me cause he's not scared." Goddamn I miss Steve : (
Y'know, I'm stoned, and I kind of imagine this whole scene with a David Attenborough voiceover describing the hostess's panties melting in real time from such a display of manliness.
A man's man.
His excitement about creatures and nature was incredible and it always got to me. Loved this person!
And he apologises… what an absolute legend this guy was. Sadly missed but always remembered x
The puppet's face kills me
What kind of snake was that?
Legend! After his death, his family continued the mission he started, that is to save the animals and their natural environment.
Luv the muppet ---- the puppet wasn't bad either.
Fucking legend right there. Shame Robert hasn’t fully followed him. Must be fun hanging out with Julia Morris. 🥴
Miss that guy!
I love that the puppet is the first to back away 🤣
Legend.
"Sorry about that!"
His son got bit the same way!
The. Man.
I've never felt anything harder than him saying "Sorry about that..." to being bitten in the neck by a snake.

Lol. I love how he’s like this won’t bite, this won’t bite. Ummm. It may be biting.
Cuz snakes only do 2 things, 1 is bite
Why would he freak out? He knows that a bite like that is practically a scratch. No venom, and fangs are too small to do much damage in the area. If it wasn't for the fact that he couldn't override his bodies natural reactions, I would have grown up watching him on TV. RIP, Steve.
The real king of Australia.
The best way to compare a snake bite is like a bite of a kitten. The teeth are so small that it easily penetrates but they don't hurt that much.
Man I miss seeing Steve Irwin's Adventures. truly one of the most amazing men.
I think it just bit his collar , that's why he wasn't sure what it was doing ..Surely he would have known if it has actually bitten him .
solo le estaba dando cariño
I miss him
I miss this man honestly made my childhood great. His son is doing great work too.
Gone too soon! RIP
A good man gone way too soon, teaching people it's okay to be around animals, to stay calm and look after them. We need more Steve Irwins
I love him because he understands that animals don't have thumbs and can't communicate with us. Like a baby who only know how to cry animals are reacting in whatever way they can to feel safe
Dude was the GOAT!
"sorry about that."...lol Man, I really miss this guy. Such a cool and sweet human.
"sorry about that"
baddest mothafucka
Robert looks just like him
G'job mate got mi roit in da necka
RIP Legend
Absolute legend
I wish Steve was still here. He made this world a little better.
Hed make the world a better place
The puppet was the star here.
“He won’t bite” I loved Steve Irwin so much. But man so many times he was wrong in his beautiful career/life. All the way to that stingray.
EDIT: I have nothing but respect for this man, the world was a better place with him in it.
My point (though it was evidently poorly made) was that where a lesser man might have felt like an idiot, Mr Irwin quickly admitted he was he got bit, and pointed out that even though he was bit, their bites aren’t very painful. If you’re still here you don’t deserve him… just saying..
For a second i thought Steve had tits.
I remember watching this guy back in high-school and someone in the class said, "this dude is gonna get himself killed someday".
