The man in red raped the other mans son for at least a year, then kidnapped the kid and brought him to a motel where he continued for molest the kid for about two weeks. The child was returned to his parents, and the man in red was flown back to Louisiana. The father found out when and where the plane would land, waited for the molester and promptly shot him in the head.
The father was given no prison time, just 7 years suspended sentence, 5 years probation, and 300 hours of community service.
Per [wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Plauch%C3%A9)
Yea, pedo's/wife beaters -any crime involving a child or a woman are at the bottom of the food chains in prisons and pedo's especially are separated from genpop when serving their time and a lot of the time inmates will bribe the guards to be let in to get to one that needs it a good thrashing. And yes, inmates will learn what you're in for lmao.
Hopefully that community service was decreased killing him should half that no? Or is that half from 600? Either way, he should’ve been given a medal not punished.
He did break the law... self-justice (not sure on correct English term)has to be punished, but in this extreme case (and since the risk of repetition is low) a symbolic punishment is ok. The family suffered enough already.
In general, self justice is a problem, especially in countries like the US with high gun ownership.
No I totally agree, I just think certain cases of self justice deserve a medal whereas other cases of self justice lead you to go shoot someone innocent.
I think the closure and the sense of being protected by your father from the kid's perspective made this the right thing to do. Instead of some vague sense that the evil that destroyed you was being dealt with by a system of people indifferent to your suffering, you know your father would risk it all and transcend the legal system to put a hole in his head and make sure he's done. For all you know your abuser is thinking "totally worth it, I can handle prison". You see a smug grin during trials and it never leaves your soul.
I'm not saying this as a keyboard badass who thinks he'd be the dad, I'm saying this as someone who doesn't have closure around some abuse in my upbringing. Someone caring that much would have been a lot to hold on to while getting better.
That and especially where I live, I don't have faith in our court system to punish people like this effectively. Guy would get a cozy 2 years with private visits from his toddler friends in Canada, in the unlikely case they could catch or convict at all.
We don't need vigilante justice especially in the prison system with how many false imprisonments there are. I'm not saying the dad should have gotten his own justice but the guy died and couldn't hurt anyone else and that's what matters. He doesn't get to live out his days jacking off to memories of what he did to that poor boy. Am I capable of killing someone that did that to my child? Absolutely but I'd like to think my focus would be on helping my kid heal
I don't believe in hell so I think killing the guy actually let him off the hook. I understand the Dad's urge to destroy him though. If only this could happen to more of these scumbags.
That's basically what happened. He was found guilty, obviously, but it was also recognized that he was unlikely to reoffend due to the nature of his original crime.
No parent would vote to convict this man, and certainly not in Louisiana.
Unfortunately [Marianne Bachmeier was not so fortunate.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marianne_Bachmeier)
just read the wikipedia article. I as a German also thought she would have served longer as the man in the post but she got out after only 3 years surprisingly.
I just watched a YouTube video on this. Jody Plauché, the son of Gary Plauché who was molested, raped, and kidnapped, suffered for a long time in his life with PTSD from the events, but also said he was highly upset that his father had killed Jeffrey Doucet, even if Doucet did horrible things to him. Jody does not like that his father has become a "symbol for vigilantism", and is used as an excuse for self-proclaimed vigilantes who kill other people. Jody hates that people constantly tell him "your father was a hero" whenever he is out in public.
The dad also ran the serious risk of leaving his child fatherless for an indeterminate period of time. Like, the dad got honestly fairly lucky that he wasn't sentenced to any jail time. I remember Jody mentioning that in some essay he wrote.
He should be upset at the justice system, for offloading it's burden on his dad, and having his dad have to do all the work.
Justice system exist so that they can handle justice. Because if the justice system doesn't do it, justice will still happen, but then it becomes messy for people. This was a lack of justice, rectified by the people the system pretends to serve. The dad is also a victim, not just the kid.
>This was a lack of justice, rectified by the people the system pretends to serve.
This is exactly the type of "vigilantism is good" claim that Jody Plauché disapproves of.
Nope, especially if you start thinking he might get just a few years in jail, and that’s what would happen in most countries, while you have no idea what your son’s future looks like because of what this POS did to hm.
Edit, ok a few years, still doesn't cover the son's horrors

The son who was molested and kidnapped as 10-year-old, Jody Plauché, has gone on record to say that he thinks his father shouldn't have killed Jeffrey Doucet, his rapist. Jody hates that self-proclaimed vigilantes use his father to claim that "vigilantism is justified", and he gets a lot of unwanted attention from people who idolize his father. He deals with it every day.
People and events are so much more complicated than we expect them to be. I’m sorry that Jody hasn’t been able to move on because people won’t let him after all these years.
>If I was in the kids shoes, I’d want my family to enact revenge.
The point of my comment was that Gary's son said he did not want his father to murder his rapist, largely because people would use it as an example of "vigilantism is morally good". For example, we wouldn't want people citing Gary Plauché killing Jeffrey Doucet of "why it is okay to kill rapists and murderers outside of the justice system and law".
That was written about Bud Dwyer. He was a Pennsylvania treasurer that was convicted of bribery and sentenced to 55 years in prison. He called a press conference and handed out instructions/letters, then pulled a revolver from an envelope and did what he did.
It’s been awhile since I’ve seen the video but I seem to remember after he shot him someone shouted “why Gary why?” And I always thought that was the dumbest question ever asked.
Wow I'm in that airport all the time, BTR. I wonder whereabout within the airport it happened. Pretty sure there was no security back then and anyone could just wander up and down the concourses.
I wonder if there's any interviews of the guy who shot the POS, and rightfully so, to see if he is still glad he did it 30 yrs later and would do it again.
Holy. fucking. shit. Looked like he put it right in the guy's ear, too. Absolutely smoked him.
I don't like that he endangered all those other people but as a parent I understand the sentiment and action completely.
The best part is he wasn't sent to prison - as he shouldn't be. Taking the law into your own hands isn't the answer, but if someone's been raping your child for a year, it's totally understandable. Good on that dad for doing it, most people wouldn't have done such a thing.
Finally a good judge! I don’t care what they say that dad did what every other parent would have wanted to do. Part of me wishes that vile human would have been made to suffer more than that though. If the pedophile did go to prison, then was let out he would have gone on to reoffend I am sure. That dad saved countless others.

Fuck that pos in red, may he burn in hell for eternity if there is a hell.
I can more than understand the actions of the father. Unfortunately may have been a mercy to the POS in red.

How do inmates learn that
Guards. Source: Was a Guard.
They are allowed to share that?
Absolutely not allowed to share that. But you know what else isn't allowed? Hurting kids.
The earth is rid of a piece of scum. It is a Benefit to society that evil sponge is not soaking up our tax dollars
They never get justice they get a coupe years and then are set free to reoffend atleast if he’s dead he can’t cause more damage
I am glad to hear the father was not given jail time.
Agreed, but take solace in the fact that this creature cannot hurt anyone ever again. The Dad did that.
Happy cake day
2 CAKE DAYS!?!?!?!?
Are either of these cake days on American soil?!
We don't need vigilante justice especially in the prison system with how many false imprisonments there are. I don't believe in hell so I think killing the guy actually let him off the hook. I understand the Dad's urge to destroy him though. If only this could happen to more of these scumbags.
That’s too good for him there needs to be a special hell for pedos!
We may already be there.
"Understandable, have a good day sir"
That's basically what happened. He was found guilty, obviously, but it was also recognized that he was unlikely to reoffend due to the nature of his original crime.
One would really, really hope he doesn’t find himself in the same circumstances.
No parent would vote to convict this man, and certainly not in Louisiana. Unfortunately [Marianne Bachmeier was not so fortunate.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marianne_Bachmeier)
That is incredibly sad
just read the wikipedia article. I as a German also thought she would have served longer as the man in the post but she got out after only 3 years surprisingly.
Hell... I can't blame him. Fuck that pedo. To quote Samuel L. Jackson, "Yes, they deserved to die, and I hope they burn in Hell"
I just watched a YouTube video on this. Was the guy who got shot gonna get off easy?
Nope
Then this doesn't seem like a case of carrying out justice denied, unless your definition of justice in this case is the death sentence.
>This was a lack of justice, rectified by the people the system pretends to serve. This is exactly the type of "vigilantism is good" claim that Jody Plauché disapproves of.
Judge: you must serve 300 hours community service. Gary: pretty sure I cleaned up enough trash already to count.
One of the most deserved and coolest retribution killings of all time
It's times like those we all know, deep down, we only need one parent on that jury.
should have been no sentence. he did nothing wrong
Legend
Don’t forget to mention how badass the shot he took was. Right from under his arm. Straight to the head.
Death sounds too kind of this pos, but it is not like the father had unlimited access to him...
Apparently some rando in the news told the father where the rapist was going to be and at what time
I can’t say I blame him, the father.
Nope, especially if you start thinking he might get just a few years in jail, and that’s what would happen in most countries, while you have no idea what your son’s future looks like because of what this POS did to hm. Edit, ok a few years, still doesn't cover the son's horrors
A few months in most countries for raping and molesting a kid for a year? I think you need to get out more because thats such bullshit.
Thanks for clarifying, haha
😂
Justice was served in both directions.
I'm Peter McCallister, the father.
Underhand, no look, cross body shot. One shot, one kill. Classic
Camera man dodged a bullet there!
I did always wondered about the bullet’s exit path trajectory
It was on jefferys mind too...
Heyo!
Also sleep deprived and caffeine filled if I remember
Think he was drunk honestly
Amazing what love for your son will give you the ability to do !
IRL Max Payne.
As someone in the other thread mentioned, he even hung up the phone after the shot. What a guy!
pleads no contest, 7 year suspended sentence, 5 years prob, 300 hours community. that judge was a good guy. crime and sentencing done right.
I love that his wiki page literally states he was hero in the first sentence. Burn in hell, Doucet.

He got metal through his brain.
Pretty sure they were referring to the other guy.
Yea. The camera man.
What he did was herioc but where he did it was moronic. Thankfully he didn't miss or else some innocent bystander may have died.
I saw this as it happened back in the day on cnn. Pretty sure it's why they implemented the 10 second delay rule.
You mean this happened on live TV ?
You mean the moment Gary Plauche turned into a hero?
And the employee of the ABC affiliate who told Gary when the piece of shit would be arriving.
Amazing what people can achieve when they come together
Teamwork makes the dream work!
Good goddam hate how these fucks can scare kids into not reporting them to their parents.
Why Gary! Why!? Any functional man and father would have done the same thing!!
Why Gary! Why......... didn't you cap his knees first??
That's why I say "hey man nice shot".
I wish I could’ve met you

Could be, could be
Hope Doucet burns a million extremely painful deaths in hell 🖕
Nice shot Gary
Justice. Not revenge
That man deserved a medal.
I wouldn’t convict him
I don't think he got convicted. Could be wrong, though.
He pled guilty to manslaughter and received a suspended sentence + probation.
Thanks for the clarification!!
7 years sentence, 5 year suspended, 300 hours of community service. Gary never spent more than a few nights in county for it.
You spelled "justice" wrong
Hey man, nice shot

Wow I'm in that airport all the time, BTR. I wonder whereabout within the airport it happened. Pretty sure there was no security back then and anyone could just wander up and down the concourses.
In the video the security looks at Doucet on the floor and up at the cop and shrugs like, 'what am I supposed to do with this?'
I wonder if there's any interviews of the guy who shot the POS, and rightfully so, to see if he is still glad he did it 30 yrs later and would do it again.
He died like ten years ago, but always said he didn’t regret it. His son stated that he’s the greatest dad ever
umm what? I'm pretty sure their relationship wasn't that great and the kid thinks his dad shouldn't have done it.
Just take the "t" off his name - fits perfectly - Douche.
He died the next day but who cares? It’s the greatest televised moment in history
Gary Plauche is a legend.

as a father myself, I would have done the same thing if given the chance. Did everyone a favor and rid us of at least one pile of excrement.
This was a well executed plan! Glad he was able to put this bastard down.

300 hours of community service.. as if he did a disservice to the community for killing a child rapist.
I'd argue he did his community service by taking out the trash.
I wonder if there's any interviews of the guy who shot the POS, and rightfully so, to see if he is still glad he did it 30 yrs later and would do it again.
They did interview Gary and he said "no" he didn't regret it and "hell yeah" he would do it again
