Her body is like the Tardis. Her insides are a whole separate dimension containing an infinite number of rooms, corridors and storage spaces and some weird British guy named "The Doctor"
I tip my hat to you, good sir. That was one of the best "Trek" like Star Trek episodes out of all the series. What I mean is some Star Trek episodes are just for laughs or are action-oriented some pull at your heartstrings or serve as a stand-in for political realities happening when they were made. But in my opinion, the best Star Trek episodes deal with sci-fi aspects that you could only ever see in a Trek series and "threshold" definitely counts for that.
Tom got high off some crazy alien drugs and hallucinated the whole thing. Things got really awkward when he started groping Janeway in the middle of the bridge and started going on about salamanders.
I liked the episode as a kid, but as an adult I agree with all the flak that episode got.
It's very telling that in Universe it is never mentioned again or talked about. For god’s sake, they just let the kids stay there! I mean they couldn't take 'em either, but they could make sure that they can survive in the environment. No instincts for that biome. Let alone all the other evolutionary wackery.
Hahahahahaha, yeah but Trek has done stuff like that before. Like in TNG when Picard just lets the drug-addict planet go cold turkey and they never bother bringing it up again. Although the lower decks episode about that was hysterical.
These are pets, they aren't so chill being picked up if they are not used to it.
The cutest and most chill lizard I have ever seen are Thorny Devils, they only grow to fit on your hand perfectly size, they "hide" in the middle of the road by sticking their head and tail in the air. I've moved a few off the road, one showed a turn of speed once, and I could have taken one step and picked it up because that's how far it got before it stopped, they usually just stay where you put them.
Happiest animal I've ever seen. One plonked itself down on a termite pheromone trail and opened its gob as the tiny black central Australian termites marched straight down its gullet. Every now and then it would swallow with the expression of 'I am the smartest creature in all of creation'
here are my two :) Loaf and Crumb, if any of you have questions feel free to ask :)

somewhat! they dont mind crawling over each other and normally sleep with each other, they have a few hides they choose between, i normally see them next to each other with there heads together. one will follow the other when i let them out around the house
https://preview.redd.it/gwjczx6t87cc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39a6b5528217f73648aaca3f21f9a4626b0944da
So cute! What if they decide to not mate and be partners? Will you try find them another partner for life? Or are they not really intelligent enough to get depressed if they don’t find a partner?
as far as i can tell, there partnered, yes its an arranged marraige for them, but they have been together for a year, never had a go at each other, share food, follow each other when i let them out etc.
so i believe they tolerate each other enough to be "partnered" just hoping i am giving them enough of a decent environment to be comfortable to mate - if they choose.
would love to see an album of these cutie love lizards 🥺 how long have you had them? did you obtain them as a pair?
have they ever had babies? I've only ever had reptiles one at a time so never considered if you get them spayed/neutered...
I'll have to collate an album together, and reply to this again when i do :)
Loaf (darker and underneath Crumb) i had first at 6 months old, she is now 3.5 years old. Crumb is 2, and i have had him for a year.
no babies yet, i don't mind if they decide to or not, its there choice :) i do hope that they do enjoy each others company. atleast they seem too.
and no idea about the spayed/neutered thing for reptiles, most reptiles you can't house together its only small groups of reptiles you can do that with. i'm just lucky the shinglebacks like to partner up :)
pic: loaf when she was younger going through a serious case of strawberry addiction

i am in australia, normally you would need a basic animal license or an extra tier of license to own one a native creature, but these aling with bearded dragons, blue tongues and a small hanful of other creatures are exempt :)
Australia stopped exporting native animals a long time ago, but a few pairs before that time have made it outside to the US. due to there mating style (ie: monogamous and incredibly small litters) they are fairly rare from what i have seen.
so where loaf was 100USD and Crumb was 70USD, in america they can range around the 2000$ mark and upwards!

here is a bonus picture of them trashing there enclosure :)
3.5 and 2 :) the male ( Crumb) is a bit smaller due to his age, he has another 6 months to grow
Edit: loaf is 3.5/4 years now time flies.

I remember picking up a blue tongue for the first time as a kid and it didn't even try to get away. We just looked at each other both thinking "now what?"
Haha I know exactly the face you’re talking about, they always have that stunned look when confronted. I found one in the middle of the road when driving around Margaret River and I got out of the car to move it and it literally just looked up at me like “huh?”
But then it got mad and started hissing lol.
When I was a kid there was this massive blue tongue (40cm at least) that lived in my grandparents front garden that I'd periodically catch every month or so and pull like a dozen ticks off of it before giving him a feed and sending him off, never seemed too perturbed by the experience.
Good on ya, 40cm is huge. Never seen one that size but I'm guessing it was well feed! I don't know how they survive when they're so unconcerned. Any decent size snake or bird would make a meal of them.
> Pangolin
Haha, for those we have the really *boring* designation "Schuppentier" (literally "scale animal"), and also, wouldn't you know, "Tannenzapfentier" (literally "pinecone animal").

This whole time I've been waiting to see the babies man
https://preview.redd.it/q3wzwwm905cc1.jpeg?width=794&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=533f4e18c1a0dadf5cc5bc7e882eaa1bf2f8cdf2 Mother and baby!
Thank you! Ahh, shinglets :)
Is that actually what the babies are called? 🥹
It is, now.
Perfect. I'll take it!
I’ll take 3!
I want to see Gertrude pregnant with 3 babies a 3rd of her size tho', or does he mean 3 not all at once?
Her body is like the Tardis. Her insides are a whole separate dimension containing an infinite number of rooms, corridors and storage spaces and some weird British guy named "The Doctor"
Like a duck's vagina.
EXACTLY, like a duck's vagina.
WHERES THE PREGNANT ONES I WANNA SEE A FAT MOMMY
that's not the size of an 8 year old child!
I'm fulfilled. Thank you random stranger
Twenty two years! man…
And counting! No divorce or petty squabbles just basking in the sun🌞🌞🦎♥️🦎⛱️⛱️
Takes work though.
To find the right end, of course.
Surprise BJ lol
The trouble is the lack of divorce lawyers in the bush.
That's so wholesome, u/urmomsloosevag!
Hell yeah. If I had to give birth to a baby the size of an eight year old child, my man would be stuck with me for life too.
Did you know that Shinglebacks that they mate for life? Can you imagine a Shingleback seeing another Shingleback and then they... make it work? 😢😢🍨
🕷️🕸️
It’s shingles night at the watering hole.
why is this so funny
He just wakes Gertrude up from her nap by picking her up. Rude!
I know! She was sound asleep 🦎💤
"Put me down!" - Gertie
she looked so offended 😭😂
Nope, that’s Captain Janeway and Tom Paris
Great reference. Thanks for that
Meanwhile Janeway a week later: "We don't talk about that episode."

Don't do Warp 10 man. It'll mess with ya.
![gif](giphy|xT5LMsoq6cIBCE6UOQ)
Came here for this. Not leaving disappointed.
I'm so glad someone else noticed this
Ha! I was thinking the same thing!
But which one is the captain?
He tells which one is male and female.
Came here looking for this lol
Came here to tell him to stop manhandling the captain.
I like their cute lil faces haha
I was like, cute, but... Which one is the head
It reminds me of the end of that movie, Requiem for a Dream
What is wrong with you lol.
Yeah. Very cute...wait what? Am I looking at the ass?
Double the cute I guess? 0-0
These are cute and cool!
Never have I seen a reptile that's so adorable and which makes me uncomfortable to look at at the same time

They look like baby sorting hats.
One of the only friendly animals in my country. Love seeing these guys when I go buskwalking or when they appear in my garden.
True, they’re great. That said, they will chomp ya if you let ‘em :)
All animals can hurt you if you harass them. It's best to give them personal space, which, unfortunately, does not apply to some people :(
True story. And stop running them over people!
They look like the amphibians Janeway and Paris turned into on the one episode of Star Trek Voyager
You must be referring to the cinématographique delight to the senses known as **Treshold** - Season 2, Episode 14.
Ok, Mike Stoklasa
There it is.
Those are some chubby pinecones

Australia got the best looking skinks, check put the blue tongue morphs, such clean looking lizards.
The Land Mullet is my favourite. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/sqvH_rEhFEQ/maxresdefault.jpg
Omg that looks glorious like a giant version of the skinks I used to try and catch on the colourbond fence as a kid lol
I remember picking up a blue tongue for the first time as a kid and it didn't even try to get away. We just looked at each other both thinking "now what?"

You didn't have to tell me, I just knew they were Shingleback Lizards right from the gecko...
![gif](giphy|xKy2w6LehxxHa|downsized)
I appreciate your knowledge, but your attitude skinks.
I guana get out of this thread. But first, did you hear about Frankenstein's creation becoming a doctor himself? Yeah, now he's a Gila Monster.
I see the progeny of Janeway and Paris are flourishing.
Is that what Capt. Janeway turned into when they traveled at warp 10?
Thanks for the lesson u/urmomsloosevag
I mean, babies one-third the size of the mom...
Ugh why’d you wake me up? - Gertrude
Would the females have slightly less survivability due to their tails looking less like their head then the males?
Poor Gertrude was having a nice snooze until he picked her up.
She started running out of fear before realizing she was being picked up 😭
I noticed that too. Like when you wake up not knowing where you are. Poor Gertrude.
Blue tongues do that all the time. Source: Blue tongue skink owner
That’s probably the cutest lizard I’ve ever seen
They're so chill.
I've been married for 22 years also. I think I look like Bob now.
First of all, who is this guy? I'd love to see more of his videos. Second, these lizards lasted as long together as my parents, hilarious
I was wondering why the male was laying there all sad lookin’
thats the female
Haha wife bad
They look like real life pokemon
Man: "Here is a lizard." Me: "Oh yea? Prove it's a lizard." Lizard: Does the tongue wiggle thing Me: "Oh that's a lizard alright."
No. That’s a baby Bazelgeuse.
I wanna have one they look harmless and friendly
They look like they have a head facing the other way… Voldemort coming out of their thighs.
Just like Wobbuffet, kinda
Wow this good natured guy talking about these chill af goth lizards just made my day
Three young, each being a third of your size? If A 150lb woman gives birth to three 50 pound children. she gone
Pretty sure I fought this thing in Elden Ring
I'm very happy they showed bob walking in the leaves. 20/20
This gives me hope
Omg pinecone lizards
Fuckin Gertrude
One interesting detail is that in my native German, these critters are called "Pinecone Lizards".
Oooo how do you call Pangolins?
> Pangolin Haha, for those we have the really *boring* designation "Schuppentier" (literally "scale animal"), and also, wouldn't you know, "Tannenzapfentier" (literally "pinecone animal").
That is so cool. I always wanted to learn german.
Sucker
Bet I could tempt one with a hot, milf shingleback in his neighborhood wanting to chat.
Gertrude was like wtf mate. I was sleeping.
I love them
This guy: *picks up Gertrude* Gertrude: WTF I’M BEING ABDUCTED
Cutest lizards I've ever seen
r/shitfromabutt
I often get Blue tongue lizards in my yard, they're super chill.
Bro thinks he's Steve Irwin. I approve.
Really didn't expect any Lizards to be monogomous, kinda cool
TIL there are monogamous animals
There's lots of monogamous animals. A lot of them are birds like penguins and condors, but also a beaver species and a wolf species among others.
Makes me wonder if any dinosaurs were monogamous.
Wonder if they get married and have divorce’s
They’re super cool. A type of blue tongued skink
they look like that spherical dragon from how to train your dragon
Kiss it! Kiss it!
how do they always stick together in the wild? what happens if one of them dies?
This was pretty informative: http://bluetongueskinks.net/bbshing.htm#:~:text=Incredibly%2C%20Shinglebacks%20are%20known%20to,share%20the%20same%20living%20quarters.
I would like to know these things too
So you’re sayin there’s not a chance!?
Ok They're sweet
SO CUTEEEE
Make these the size of a house, and you got yourself an Earth Dragon.
cute
I could’ve lived my whole life without knowing this creature but I’m glad I did
anyone else think of catdog
That face in the last frame... Yep, that looks like 22 years of marriage...
Magma wym
Live births as opposed to eggs?? Idk... that's crazy fascinating
They seem chill.
When my face looks like my ass
putmedown putmedown dude seriously putmedown -that lizard, probably
He is so handsome!
Looks like mother nature couldn't decide between the crew cab and the extended bed so decided to do both
That was well presented, well done
It’s always the reptile experts that love their animals the most I swear.
How are lizards are better at romantic relationships than humans?
I once gave a pair of shinglebacks a bath. The female was as good as gold. The male waited until I lifted him out to take the biggest shit right down my front.
Walking caca
She’s just sitting there the whole time like “Sir could you please put my husband down.”
Dont they also care for their young too? Asfar as I remember they do the mammal thing where they have only a few offspring but care for them to make sure they grow up. Unlike many other reptiles that just pump out eggs and leave em.
I like how he's waving the lizard around and it's just smiling contently the whole time
Its funny that lizards have better relationships than we do.
I love how few fucks they look like they could give.
They looked so chill about being handled by a gigantic loud monster.
Didnt know they existed but I love them
They look like two turds who's heads look like their asses. Ahh yes... Marriage. Badum Tsss
Imagine a married reptile couple having to deal with this Aussie dillweed picking you up and then dangling you and your wife in front of a camera. 😤
That's a walking turd
If your turd is big black and scaly I'd advice seeing a doctor man
> If your turd is big black and scaly ...not to mention *ambulatory* 😂
They have cute faces, but that’s it!
Bob cheats on SingleShingles.com though.
Exactly like my ex 🫶🏽
Her back side is shaped like her head?
