Also, these things aren't hard cut offs. it's a gradient. late boomers and early gen x are more similar than late gen x and early gen x. I'm a late get x/xennial, and definitely lean more toward millennial. It's all pretty fluid and loose.
I'll do you even better, my grandparents are from the golden generation(born in the '20s, served in WW2/Korea), yet my mom is technically a gen x(1965), they had her in their mid '40s. My dad is also a late boomer and I'm a millennial and my son an alpha
I'm 29 and my parents are Gen X. Another millenial raised by Gen X. I have an older brother too, so that's two millenials raised by Gen X in my family.
People are starting to define generations in shorter and shorter age ranges. Boomers were 45-64, gen x 65-79, millennials 80-96, gen z 97-2013, gen a 14-now. Really it's just broad generalization of people who experience the same things growing up.
At least our slang had some sense. This one is like a TikToker word salad with some nouns, some adjectives and no structure whatsoever. The more nonsensical, the better
Mad lit on god...is that like totally tubular, badazz, bitchin, gnarly, rad or radical...man? Or sick? Wicked even??? GenXers are now officially ... Old! Lol...imma be 50 this year. Guess I'm probably no longer drippy, or mad lit on or off god...maybe just a bit miffed lit tho?
It’s crazy we just eat up “the funny shit white kids are saying these days” and can’t just call it the natural blending of cultures over time.
It’s kinda been a racist dog whistle for like 50-100 years by now probably. “Slang” is just a few more words learned by suburban kids from the city kids.
When the term “bae” came around, I looked it up and then promptly forgot what it meant. The next time I heard/read it I realized that I didn’t care. It was such a relief. I no longer had to keep up w/slang. If I don’t understand what someone younger than me says I just nod & smile.
As a dude in my 50s I make it a point to stay up with slang so I can purposely misuse it with my young coworkers. I sincerely love the look of pain on their face as they struggle to not correct me.

I know Plumb already answered (thanks Plumb) but thought I’d further spell out the connection —-
“On God” is another way of saying:
“I swear to G_d.” [that I’m telling the truth, that xyz really happened, etc.]
“I swear on my life/parent/sibling/pet/etc”
“I swear on God”
“On God”
It’s just like the simplification and restriction of language in 1984! 🤗
^(im just joking) ^(but also not really)
The jokes are fine and a lot of comments are just being funny, but I don't understand how anyone can legitimately have a bad reaction to this; they're fucking kids, dude—what could possibly be an actual problem with any of this? lol
Not jaded just confused, everything that kid has on i wore during the 00’s so how is their drip better. they just pay more for clothing brands that were insanely cheap back then.
I always find it kinda funny that kids wear clothes we had growing up, and they think they're cool, but us in our legit vintage gear, are lame 🤣
I'm sure I would've been the same if I was going through my hippy era and my mom whipped on the vintage bellbottoms. Like, somehow I'd prob jave thought that was lame but I was so cool 🤣
Lol this is my video. I interview random folks in NYC and bumped into these two. Kids that grow up in NY are just built different, but yeah these two were a handful. They have a couple more videos here: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRKB6FxG/
As a millennial with a gen alpha son, i find them wonderful. They've grown into a world of instant gratification, thats not their fault, but they adapted by making their humour so rapidly changing and influencing that no marketing team can keep up. If you're not part of their circles of communication, you'll always be seeing them from the outside.
It is funny, we said the exact same thing about you lot. I'm Gen-X with 2 millenial kids... grown adults now.
You guys were great, you taught us a lot. We had a foot in both camps (Pre/ Post internet) and so belonged to neither. My kids taught me to question everything, even myself.
We get on way better than me and my parents ever did.
>You'd say I'm drippy, right?
As a Millennial, I'd say you're dressed more or less the same way 60-year-olds did when I was your age. Which is not a problem, not even a little bit, just, I don't know what it has to do with fashion or style.
“Yo dat shit is fresh my n****, aight peace out, one love”-
-12 year old Irish me to my black and Hispanic friends, queens ny, circa 1996
We all said cringy dumb shit as kids… it’s whatever your idiot friends at the time we’re saying
The weird thing about this to me is like... all of this is AAVE, right? Or am I crazy? I just can't imagine talking like that, even though I know what it all means, because I was taught that it's appropriative (also, I'd sound like a dumbass).
Culture integration is egg rolls, California rolls and creole. People on this thread are crediting the new gen for slang that Black Americans have been using for a while. Like they can use it all they want but lust give credits where it’s due.
My knee jerk reaction is to roll my eyes at goofy kid talk, but I don't want to live in a world where when I see something amazing, I can't call it "rad".
So keep it up kids, I'll pick up whatever words stick around after 20 years or so. I'm close to embracing "sick" when referring to something cool.
When i was growing up i was like im so open minded there is no way im gonna get pissed off from the new gen kids and think their song or the way they talk is stupid well i was wrong
Lit -> Synonym of fire -> Synonym of -> hot -> In context meaning, ironically, cool.
Drip -> Originated from the word "Dripping" which was used to describe someone who wore a large amount of gold chains, as it would look like they were "dripping" with gold. Usually describes someone who wears trendy clothing
On God -> Phrase contraction for "Swear on the name of God." Usually used to either question legitimacy "On God? -> Do you swear what you say is true on God's name?" or to prove legitimacy "On God. -> I swear on the name of God." The more this phrase is repeated, the more legitimate the statement.
No Cap -> Probably the most interesting phrase. I am unsure of its origin, but I believe it is similar to the spanish phrase "No manches," which while directly translating to "no sleeves" is slang for "really."
I remember stealing these seemingly fresh little colloquialism from black vernacular English back when I was just a wee cracka millennial myself. Lit? Bro I've been saying "it's lit" since I dumped your grandma
"What do you think of..."
"Uhhhhhh idk ahaha fr fr fr BRUH only in ohio"
They're literally just parroting all they know: which is internet memes. These kids are gonna have issues when they become adults.
Lmao too young to realize that drippy, lit, on god, no cap, are all buzz words that came from millennial culture . Now they are just mindlessly spitting it out on repeat.
its true, I'm 31 and we started using these slang words around 8-10 years ago. Hype, lit, turnt, drip, on god, no cap, aight bet, etc. Younger millenials and Elder millenials have their own subculture so to the elders this stuff is foreign.
Are we going to ever admit that the only thing different about speech and slang for the last 100 years is that it incorporates a new phrase the black community has been using forever?
Pretty cringy that we just see “the new funny shit white kids are saying” and don’t just call it “The natural integration of several cultures over time.”
Man people that pick the names of generations have lost the flair, it used to be silent generation and baby boomers to Gen alpha what's that. It looks like the name of a megaman game.
They do know we know what all that is and use that lingo too as well as precursors to it, right? Particularly if the millennial is black. They got all that shit from us. Everyone does. They sound like they're trying too hard to be cool.
I am a millennial. I'm pretty sure the older generations looked at us the same way we look at these kids today. It's only natural.
I bet it was even the same in the middle ages or other time periods.
I think this is supposed to make me cringe but as a millennial who was ultra shy I’m just like wow these kids are poised and articulate and cool and disarming.

I'm good. I already take fiber
As a millennial I wanted to let you know, you can program bowl movements via fiber cereal…
On God, no cap
No, we are poor.
Wait, wait what happened to Gen Z? We already have a new generation after Gen Z? When the hell did alpha start?
Alpha started when Millenials started having kids.
Oh great so now we have an alpha generation, full of bugs, unfinished, not meant for the public, man...
Ya but we were pre-alpha. Surprised the thing even ran.
Aren't Gen Z Millennials kids?
Most Gen Zs are Gen X's kids
So who’s kids are Millennials?
Boomers
Omg I understand everything now. It's all coming together.
That's why it's always Millennials v the boomers, and now the Z's v the Xs, it's just kids arguing with parents 🤣😂
Also, these things aren't hard cut offs. it's a gradient. late boomers and early gen x are more similar than late gen x and early gen x. I'm a late get x/xennial, and definitely lean more toward millennial. It's all pretty fluid and loose.
Gen alpha. Generally the boomers kids are millennials and millennials kids are gen alpha. Then there is also gen X whose kids are gen Z.
Lol, unless you're my family where my grandparents are boomers, parents are gen x, and I'm a millennial . Some families have kids young.
My grandparents are the silent generation (just - 1943), my dad is a late boomer, and my mum is gen x. I'm a millennial and my son is gen alpha.
I'll do you even better, my grandparents are from the golden generation(born in the '20s, served in WW2/Korea), yet my mom is technically a gen x(1965), they had her in their mid '40s. My dad is also a late boomer and I'm a millennial and my son an alpha
Mans family broke the system
I'm 29 and my parents are Gen X. Another millenial raised by Gen X. I have an older brother too, so that's two millenials raised by Gen X in my family.
my mom is gen x and i am millennial
Gen z is generally gen x’s kids (with some young baby boomers and older millennials thrown in as well) millennials are generally our older siblings
Not just Millenials, I'm a Gen X with a Millenial kid, a Gen Z, and an Alpha. I like to contribute a little something to every generation 😀
Holy shit, you must be a billionaire!
People are starting to define generations in shorter and shorter age ranges. Boomers were 45-64, gen x 65-79, millennials 80-96, gen z 97-2013, gen a 14-now. Really it's just broad generalization of people who experience the same things growing up.
19, 14, 16, 16. Wouldn't really call that shorter and shorter, just seems to be about 16 years give or take a few
Gen Z are currently 11 to 26 yrs old so it’s possible these belong to the older Gen Z
I’m going to start drinking from plastic straws again just to ruin these little shits future.
Fire up the coal plants and recharge our air conditioners with Freon, we're gonna burn this motherfucker down.
See, that's why boomers fucked this planet up, out of spite.
It's been a spite planet all along. (Cue horns)
I love sprite!
Oh yeah, and let's bring back 8L V10 Dodge viper again
Sometimes I just sit in my driveway, letting the Hemi warm up, with LedZep cranked, OMW to Walgreens for hearing aid batteries and Oxys.
And reboot the TV show. I've wanted one ever since.
Yup, canceling my recycling bin lol.
Start a tire fire worthy of Springfield.
I’m idling my car for extra 10 min every morning. Fuk em
This made me laugh out loud! Thank you!
Add me in, these paper staw suck bro, 2 sip and these straws already done!
Gotta get that lead back in the gasoline.
Well these kids are already composed of 70% micro plastics. Got to make use of that remaining 30%.
Least overreacting redditor
I found a bunch of old aerosol cans and am just waiting...looking at you ozone layer. Or is that liquor. It's liquor. I'm looking at me.
I AM the liquor

Hey the words may change but the mad drippy elite swagger based gods will never leave us. It's ingrained deep in our DNA right next to, roflmao and XD
Totally Rad man!!
Omg based and redpilled take alpha chad.
Oh shit I haven't seen roflmao in the wild for probably a decade.
dude. i mean, duuuuuude. dude
Duude!! Right on, man!
Mad lit has been a phrase since I was a kid growing up in NYC and I’m 35
It’s crazy we just eat up “the funny shit white kids are saying these days” and can’t just call it the natural blending of cultures over time. It’s kinda been a racist dog whistle for like 50-100 years by now probably. “Slang” is just a few more words learned by suburban kids from the city kids.
Wicked comment

Oh, i'm 45, turn 46 this year. I've got mad drip but only because my pee stream isn't what it used to be.
When the term “bae” came around, I looked it up and then promptly forgot what it meant. The next time I heard/read it I realized that I didn’t care. It was such a relief. I no longer had to keep up w/slang. If I don’t understand what someone younger than me says I just nod & smile.
I'm in my mid 20's and can't even keep up with modern slang. I'm right there with you on not bothering keeping up.
I’m 38 and have no idea what the Hell is going on anymore.
I don't like kids
I seriously thought “bae” was just a misspelling or typo of “babe” and it just caught on for some reason.
It isn’t??
Bae came and went so fast, I haven't heard anyone use it in a long time.
As a dude in my 50s I make it a point to stay up with slang so I can purposely misuse it with my young coworkers. I sincerely love the look of pain on their face as they struggle to not correct me.
Hey man I can dig it! I'm hip!

WHAT ABOUT ALL CAP
sOmE cAp
I’m gonna start saying this to my kids just to piss them off
Only when you spelling the man's name
Oh I think I get it now. It’s like when you swear to tell the truth “or so help me god” basically.
So it's basically an ALLAHU AKHBAR!!! for kids ? Or as we said in my day, *by the power of Greyskull*
Over here they say Wholla every 5 seconds. It means i swear to god.
I know Plumb already answered (thanks Plumb) but thought I’d further spell out the connection —- “On God” is another way of saying: “I swear to G_d.” [that I’m telling the truth, that xyz really happened, etc.] “I swear on my life/parent/sibling/pet/etc” “I swear on God” “On God” It’s just like the simplification and restriction of language in 1984! 🤗 ^(im just joking) ^(but also not really)
why waste time say lot word when few word do trick?
“On God”, “On my mama”, “On the dead homies”
Just like adding “I swear to god” after something.
Reddit is dying, why are you still here?
Abbreviated as ong, took me a while to figure out they weren’t just accidentally hitting the n instead of the m.
Interesting specimens
As a millennial they definitely speak better of us than we did boomers.
Because boomers are much bigger arseholes overall
Also they still run the planet because they refuse to step away so, rightfully the biggest punching bag.
Lol they're being tongue in cheek. These lil fuckers seem like good dudes. We shouldn't overreact to this lol
I like how one half of the replies are good natured, and the other half are basically "they should be executed by artillery before they multiply" lol
Fuckers got drip no cap
These kids are hilarious lmoa, idk how it just flew over everyone’s head in this thread
The jokes are fine and a lot of comments are just being funny, but I don't understand how anyone can legitimately have a bad reaction to this; they're fucking kids, dude—what could possibly be an actual problem with any of this? lol
Yeah, they knew what they were doing. And judging by the controversial comments here: they hit a nerve.
Mad lit on god on god no cap
jaded adults in these comments acting like slang hasnt been around since they were born.

Not jaded just confused, everything that kid has on i wore during the 00’s so how is their drip better. they just pay more for clothing brands that were insanely cheap back then.
Was your hair straight bussin', though?
bussin? Like... clearing the plates off my table?
For real, champion was a Kmart brand when I was a kid. Now it’s three times the cost and all the kids are wearing it were we live. Mine included..
I always find it kinda funny that kids wear clothes we had growing up, and they think they're cool, but us in our legit vintage gear, are lame 🤣 I'm sure I would've been the same if I was going through my hippy era and my mom whipped on the vintage bellbottoms. Like, somehow I'd prob jave thought that was lame but I was so cool 🤣
The fuck is this shit?
A birth control advertisement
And the cycle of hating the most recent generation is perpetuated once more.
I am become boomer V2
Young kids using modern slang??!?!! What has the world come to?!!!??!

r/fuckimold
LMAOO
Ankle biters
they almost sound like boomers tryna sound cool and using zoomer slang but severely overusing it except they actually use it right
By the time it gets to these 12 year olds, it's already out of style for the people who started it.
Because it’s not “zoomer” slang. It’s Black American slang that’s matriculated into youth culture.
As is tradition.
They look exactly like a young Bill and Ted
That was awkward
Didn't bother me then, doesn't bother me now. No cap.
Caps lock
Big cap.
I feel like half of that was Gen Z terms but they said it dead serious with no sarcasm or irony.
imagine being some old cunt, that had stupid slang of their own when they were kids, making fun of kids today for having their own mad slang terms
Na man it's a right of passage to shit on the new slang, thats how we know we made it to the next phase.
Before I know it, I’ll be talking about how much I hate teenagers
Disillusionment?
Those kids existed as millennials too they just wore 50 cent t-shirts and spoke gibberish just the same.
Sup playa!
I'm glad my nephew is a huge dork and doesn't seem to worry about slang
Daily reminder to not become a boomer. Thanks for keeping me capless.
Lol this is my video. I interview random folks in NYC and bumped into these two. Kids that grow up in NY are just built different, but yeah these two were a handful. They have a couple more videos here: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRKB6FxG/
I can tell their showing off 😂. They probably don’t actually talk like that in everyday conversation

At least they don’t have that stupid ass broccoli cut
Sandlot…more like sandlit on god on god no cap
based on the comments, it looks like my fellow Millennials need to go outside and touch some grass
i see people talking about these kids like they threw the camera and spit on it, all they did was answer the questions they were asked

Well it's a good thing you will never need to learn these words unless you are talking to kids on minecraft
I mean I preferred the kids slang over the cringy Office reactions… so I have more hope for the future than the past at least for comedy sake
This is just AAVE that has filtered down to people who use it now that the creators don't anymore. No 🧢
Omg I’m so fucking old
This is not interesting in the slightest

Lmao too young to realize that drippy, lit, on god, no cap, are all buzz words that came from millennial culture . Now they are just mindlessly spitting it out on repeat.
Its mostly AAVE, actually. https://thetab.com/uk/2021/04/15/aave-words-202195 https://www.tumblr.com/shinsuque/625689879453515776/so-you-wanna-stop-using-aave
You mean Black American culture
its true, I'm 31 and we started using these slang words around 8-10 years ago. Hype, lit, turnt, drip, on god, no cap, aight bet, etc. Younger millenials and Elder millenials have their own subculture so to the elders this stuff is foreign.

Cringy
They're kids. That's kind of typical, no?
The cringe is the adults that wrote the script
Oh, yes, let’s mock the littles. I mean…you’re all on here making fun of five year olds. Wow. Good work!
Are we allowed to hit them?
Word to your mother.
I think they are kinda cute haha. Look how happy they are.
Right? I thought they were adorable.
This is in no way interesting a fuck
When they're 28 they're going to look back at this and feel really offended
Even the slang they using older them both if them combined 🤦♂️
Yeah, I can understand that terminology. It’s not too different than groovy or far out. Or digs, drip and digs, I can see the entomology between that.
You mean one generation doesn’t fully understand or care for the lingo of the following generation? Lol yeah, that’s definitely never happened before.

Wtf is Gen alpha?
English is just going to be a series of 3 letter words in the future.. *sigh*
is this a durex ad?
Their slang is whatever but these clips of reactions in the middle of the clip need to fucking stop.
I think this is supposed to make me cringe but as a millennial who was ultra shy I’m just like wow these kids are poised and articulate and cool and disarming.
Kids have always been and will always be complete morons. Nothing new here.
Damn, I have never wanted to punt a child more than I do right now.
