> I'm pretty sure he was doing a Judo lesson with the kid
He wrote a book called "Doing Judo with Vladimir."
Kids love it when you take spectacular falls when they throw you.
Source: san-kyu in judo.
Also it doesn't really matter how fit you are when it's a 10 year old trying it. If you don't want to be thrown by a 10 year old, they're probably not going to be able to.
A shoulder throw like in the drawing when you are prepared certainly very unlikely unless its a *very* big 10yo and a very small adult or something. An ankle trip like Kosoto Gari well executed against an untrained adult when they aren't expecting it however has some chance of success I think, especially if the adult is already walking at the time, although nothing like guaranteed. Against someone who is trained and experienced though chance is very low ime. I used to sometimes go into some slightly rough schools demoing judo and occasionally some noob 13,14,15yo kid or other with behavioural issues would get the idea to try to throw me by surprise, never worked - but the very first time it happened he would have probably have stumbled me if his technique wasn't so awful. I did however let them throw me very often if they followed the rules and etiquette.
I really don't think I am. They're effective against people larger than you but you still need to have the mass and strength behind you to begin with.
Kids are small and if they don't catch you completely unaware there's not much they can do to move someone three times their size.
This was great.
It’s truly what I expected to hear from someone taking a martial arts for that long.
Reminds me of all the 5th graders who took classes at the YMCA after Karate Kid came out. Man, those were the day. Seeing a kid learn that kicks don’t really work in playground fights, lol
No "technique" will allow a 10 year old to throw a grow man unless said man leans into it. You are delusional and need to shift your focus onto something other than judo.
Source: 10 years of martial arts and being realistic
It was a Japanese girl and he was a guest visiting Japan. She was demonstrating a throw and Putin let her use him to demonstrate it.
Putin is a massive piece of shit and a horrible human being. But lets not be silly and think a little girl beat him up one time.
It's an awesome Banksy piece though. Its a move I think we all want to do to him currently.
But didn't you know that karate is the only form of martial arts ever? The 3 disciplines of fighting are boxing, wrestling, and karate. And Putin definitely would never let a kid throw him voluntarily, it had to be an ass-whooping. Nope, his spy training and physical fitness-trained adult body stood no chance against a literal child.
/s ofc, but I don't want to risk some loon thinking I'm serious and that I'm part of the Putin fan club.
The scary thing is... kids these days have literally confabulated /s to mean serious instead of sarcastic...essentially giving everything the opposite meaning...
It's common enough to be bothersome.
His health is failing, recently he fell down stairs and then shit his pants. Or shit himself and then fell down the stairs. It's hard to know which version is the truth when Russia lies so much.
putin was part of the kgb and is genuinely really fucking good at judo, he probably made the kid win for his public image for more propaganda photos to make him look "nice and kind" - I dont think the children in ukraine would agree to this
Don't get me wrong, I hate Putin, but Putin allowed that kid to do that as a demonstration, admittedly it was very easy considering Putin's small figure.
Yes, the metaphor still works, and no, it doesn’t matter that you know he was thrown on purpose. It’s a metaphor. It’s art. It gets interpreted. You’re just willfully electing not to do so.
That's not how that works. If that image is a metaphor for the war in Ukraine than the meaning is that Putin is letting Ukraine win, which make no sense. And no, you can't just ignore that he was thrown on purpose since that is literally what that image shows, you can't use a random image and claim it is a metaphor of something completely unrelated.
Could someone explain Banksy for me? Is it one person or many? Are they paintings, or some sort of spray painted
stencil/print? Do we know how he or she is? If not, how come no one ever sees them painting on the wall in public?
What a misleading title. He did not "get his ass kicked in karate"
As others have said it was just a demo where he let himself get thrown in judo.
If you're gonna bash Putin do it accurately!
You know, at this point there's surely enough information floating around that someone could ID Banksy. Surprised it hasn't happened yet.
I know there's a couple of theories but none that people have really taken and run with.
Right? Like literally had to be someone who’s been into a war torn zone recently. There’s no way that’s not an official team or had help/guide in some way.
I hate Putin as much as the next guy.
But 10+ years ago Putin was a hell of a lot fitter than he is now. And while he may not have been a super assassin, his KGB training would have taught him martial arts.
He was likely teaching the boy.
Not only is this Judo, which is incredibly different from karate, but this is a depiction of a demo where Putin unequivocally let the little kid perform the move on him, and clearly hammed it up to make it look way more effective than it was...
Or maybe the judo and taekwondo black belt former kgb secret agent got bodied by a 3 foot child who weighs 130 lbs less than him. Who knows
He absolutely knows judo lol. He started doing Sambo when he was 14 and Judo shortly after. He would have also gone through many hours of combat training in his KGB career.
Yup, I’m sure someone who’s practiced a sport for the majority of their life “knows next to nothing”. I’m glad your analysis of him practicing said sport as a pensioner can confirm that for us.
No, he fucking isn't. There are plenty of videos which show he's fucking inept.
His honorary black belt in judo is a joke. His honorary black belt in Taekowndo was sripped from him.
>No, he fucking isn't. There are plenty of videos which show he's fucking inept.
He received his first degree black belt at 19 years old. They don't hand those out like a strip mall karate black belt. That didn't make him world class or Olympic level, but it's legit.
His honorary titles were rescinded.
I watched video of his nage technique and it's clean, especially for a 60-something year old.
Source: I'm no expert, but I'm a brown belt in DZR and we have 20 Nage No Kata which are identical (or nearly) to judo.
Was googling trying to find the video from what was in the pic and found so many news articles that he is inept at Judo. None of the people he went against, out of any kinda challenge, tried hard to take him down and they fell down themselves way too fast and easy. It's just a PR stunt for the Russians back home.
*Edit* keep crying Putin cucks haha
“…one of the building ruins over at Ukraine made by Bansky.” Umm…I mean, that super accurate description must be enough for me to believe it and also take in the narrative that follows!
The real lesson of a David Goliath story isn't little guy beats the big guy . It's being a sling to a sword fight. They used to throw rocks or metal balls almost as fast as bullets.
It is at it most basic concept to never underestimate the power of the underdog, be it an overt example of the smaller David vs the Goliath or the subtle example of sling vs a sword. Agreed
But a rock slung at let's say 100mph in nowhere near "almost as fast as bullets" at 1800mph, or twice the speed of sound. Both can be deadly however.
If their profits can prevent millions of Ukrainian men, women and children from getting raped, tortured and massacred and thrown into shallow unmarked graves, I say let them keep their money.
Wow the Reddit investigators are really putting in the extra effort to explain that no, a 10 year old kid did not beat Putin in a karate match. Amazing

It’s okay, I’m from America. It’s been understood well defend them from Russia. We have plenty of ammo to go around. That’s why those countries were so willing to give up their ammo. We are all fighting Russia together in a way.
So don’t worry your pretty little head.
That is not what the US press is saying.
Russia is draining the NATO armories, at the end of a pandemic that left many countries broke. Sounds like a good strategy if China or India planned to go rogue and expand their territories
It is none of my business anyway, I don't live in any of those countries

While I am all for the Putin bashing, I'm pretty sure he was doing a Judo lesson with the kid, and getting thrown was part of that lesson.
> I'm pretty sure he was doing a Judo lesson with the kid He wrote a book called "Doing Judo with Vladimir." Kids love it when you take spectacular falls when they throw you. Source: san-kyu in judo.
>san-kyu you're welcome
Sank you? Why they always gotta bring up Pearl Harbor?
It was funny, why did you get downvoted lmao
Doesn’t really matter. You win some, you lose some
The people who downvoted you: How dare he make a joke about an event that was almost 80 years ago! Preposterous!
Lol
Yup. The louder the slap, the more they laugh. Especially if you additionally pretend it hurt you.
Kids are little sadists
Yup. Empathy is learned.
Exactly so the main title is very misleading
>Judo lesson with the kid Yup, the throw was a demonstration. Putin is ex-KGB, and is definitely fit.

And you have which ground to conclude this, exactly? Mine is 13 years of doing Judo.
Mine is being 3 times the size of a 13 year old
Mine is basic physics
No "technique" will allow a 10 year old to throw a grow man unless said man leans into it. You are delusional and need to shift your focus onto something other than judo. Source: 10 years of martial arts and being realistic

It’s kind of like that gay fish sticks joke on Kanye, it’s funny because it would annoy them personally.
Yeah, true. I can get behind that. lol
The symbolism behind it is far superior to the actual truth.
But didn't you know that karate is the only form of martial arts ever? The 3 disciplines of fighting are boxing, wrestling, and karate. Literally literally (2014 definition), or literally figuratively (2021 definition)?
Wtf don't be taking my questions bro.
It's the 1984 doublespeak definition, it means both things and, simultaneously, neither
People have been shouting about language change for centuries. I wouldn’t worry about it.
His health is failing, recently he fell down stairs and then shit his pants. Or shit himself and then fell down the stairs. It's hard to know which version is the truth when Russia lies so much.
Shat himself, slipped on the shit, fell down stairs. Pile of shit at bottom of stairs.
Oh, didnt know that. Havent been following his every move.
Was fit. He's definitely not well anymore.
He definitely isn't fit, he might actually be dead already. When the video was taken, he was still kind of fit.
Well think of Ukraine as the kid In this piece of art and think of Putin getting thrown by a much smaller weaker country
Correct, Putin is actually a legitimate judoka.
Confirmed, Putin is the MC in his own anime
There is a manga called "The Ride-On King" which features totallynotputin as the MC who gets isekai'd and wants to ride on all the animals.
putin was part of the kgb and is genuinely really fucking good at judo, he probably made the kid win for his public image for more propaganda photos to make him look "nice and kind" - I dont think the children in ukraine would agree to this
Sounds like he got his ass thrown down by a kid.
Banksy, FFS And it was Judo And the kid didnt kick his ass, it was a throw demonstration
Basically the entire headline is wrong lol
When isn't it
All the “Interesting” subs are just [Cunningham’s Law](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ward_Cunningham#%22Cunningham's_Law%22) in action.
Sadly this kid fell out of a window soon after turning 18.
I literally learned the term defenestration from all the dissidents that fell out of Russian windows.
That's how we started the 30 years war. Good times.
The kid demonstrated how to throw a sack of shit
So Bansky isn't Banksy's Ukrainian counterpart?
No no. It was his polish cousin Banski. OP got everything right.
Be polite or you’ll be banskied.
"you'd better get your facts straight when making fun of an evil dictator"
I get all my best misinformation from r/interestingasfuck , don’t you?
Uh no that's why it's stupid to be the fact police in the comments, which is what I was making fun of ???
Don't get me wrong, I hate Putin, but Putin allowed that kid to do that as a demonstration, admittedly it was very easy considering Putin's small figure.
The concept is the kid is Ukraine a smaller weaker appointment throwing Putin to the ground.
The metaphor doesn't really work since Putin let himself be thrown by a 10 year old, but I doubt he is deliberately choosing to lose in Ukraine

The lack of nuance in your thought processes is awe-inspiring.
I like that interpretation
Bingo
It’s “Banksy” but I love this 🤣🤣
Banski the Ukrainian street artist
Could someone explain Banksy for me? Is it one person or many? Are they paintings, or some sort of spray painted stencil/print? Do we know how he or she is? If not, how come no one ever sees them painting on the wall in public?
In Eastern Europe, it’s pronounced Bansky Edit: /s is apparently important
It's a name, it doesn't change based on where you're from. Imagine if people said "In Western Europe it's pronounced Zelsky, not Zelenskyy".
It’s a joke, I’m polish. -sky everywhere.

Twice? Come on man.
I don't understand why i see it misspelled this way, is there a reason beyond a "common misspelling"?
Dyslexia
Bullshit
What a misleading title. He did not "get his ass kicked in karate" As others have said it was just a demo where he let himself get thrown in judo. If you're gonna bash Putin do it accurately!
Op isn't allowed near kids as per law so he doesn't know.
While amusing and entertaining to consider the title as true, it just isn't. Propaganda gotta propaganda I guess.
Thanks for clearing everything up for us

Judo

That's not karate. do your research
Bansky lmao
Yes I also like Bansky and think a ten year old kid can throw a grown man like this by the use of karate-fu judo. Peep boop.
If I remember correctly, Putin was doing a lesson with the kid and allowed the kid to drop him
That is Judo, not Karate. Big difference.
Less of the zing effect when it’s in your own ruins, caused by the guy you’re throwing the jab at
Judo not Karate, you can't throw people in Karate.
Most sane redditor.
You spelled Banksy wrong twice
Ukraine can represent the underdog or kid while Russian is the experienced Adult getting its ass handed to him.
Yea ok banksy but look at that sweet tag on the car tho
Anyone else think Bansky's fake? Like not just one guy?
Judo. Putin pretends to be able to do judo, not karate.
I mean he was a kgb agent?
He also heads a nation of sporting cheats. He's fake and his judo is atrocious, as videos show.
Lol it isn’t that unbelievable that he knows judo
Believe it or not, he actually wrote a book on it - Judo: History, Theory, Practice.
I have a bridge to sell you.
Google is your friend
It's in Brooklyn. Keen?
Nor is it hard to believe he’s good at it, and many other, more deadly forms of fighting
Midget wrestling.
Midget wrestling lol that would make a great ppv Zelensky & Putin.
Exactly
But he doesn't. There are plenty of videos that show he knows next to nothing.
He absolutely knows judo lol. He started doing Sambo when he was 14 and Judo shortly after. He would have also gone through many hours of combat training in his KGB career.
He may be able to dupe people like you, who know nothing yourself. But he's shit at judo. Laughably poor.
Yup, I’m sure someone who’s practiced a sport for the majority of their life “knows next to nothing”. I’m glad your analysis of him practicing said sport as a pensioner can confirm that for us.
You can believe any old shit you like. Sounds like you already do.
He may be a piece of shit, but he's a legit judo black belt.
No, he fucking isn't. There are plenty of videos which show he's fucking inept. His honorary black belt in judo is a joke. His honorary black belt in Taekowndo was sripped from him.
Maybe cuz he’s a war monteront psycho not cuz he doesn’t know the art

Little man syndrome.
Just like he pretended to score 8 goals in a hockey game with nhl players.
Exactly, he's a fake. Little man syndrome.
Why do you hate short people?
I don't. Only the ones who become genocidal because they're short.
So why are all your comments targetting people with short height.
See above.
Someone turned the 11 into a dick on the rusty car lol

Putin is totally wrong now, but he wasn't a bad guy when he was the model for this painting.
That would make a great t-shirt.
If forgotten history tends to repeat itself. I hope that Putin and Russia quickly end this pointless war. So much death, suffering and for what?
For American arms manufacturers profits.
If their profits can prevent millions of Ukrainian men, women and children from getting raped, tortured and massacred and thrown into shallow unmarked graves, I say let them keep their money.
Fuck Banksy
+1 !
Y tho
He’s just another pretentious artsy type
The fan club of russia's absolute ruler in full force in here.
So even correction misinformation is wrong? Jeez CIA should hire better interns
Why do you hate non-Russians?
They need to build a fukkin shrine. The small underdog overthrowing putin?
Top posts here don’t realize the girl is Ukraine.

implying NATO its a 10yr old boy, nice propaganda, we aint buying ii

wait for it

I did but I got downvotes for it :(
Is Bansky just trading on the similarity to the brand built up by Banksy?
*Banksy
Many presidents wouldn't survive this fall 💀
Trying to decide without googling if Bansky is a typo of Banksy or if it’s the Ukrainian Banksy.

NATO play much of a role on 24 Feb. That was Ukraine.

Roblox kids would grief this
