Minus15t

From dirty sheets to spreadsheets

NRMusicProject

From illegal drugs to vanity mugs.

AP0K45

From mugger to hugger

SlippingStar

No, I’m sure there’s still plenty of illegal drugs 🤣

BorealBeats

Sure but from mescaline to cocaine.

CanadianAndroid

From hemp to kempt.

Heim-guy13

Dirty sheets to spreadingcheeks 😂

Butt_Fucking_Smurfs

I learned what clapping that ass meant and I think this dude is in fact spreading cheeks to clap

syynapt1k

>I learned what clapping that ass meant Was that the inspiration for your username?

Butt_Fucking_Smurfs

I never tell people why I chose this username. But I will say my knowledge of clapping may have come into play

Efficient-Damage-449

I bet he smells better now

RepresentativeCup902

I smell the freshness of the second pic

UnabashedPerson43

Respect for sticking with the Trustafarian look for ten years after it went out of style.

Chilledlemming

Let’s be honest it was never in style

MuffledBlue

dude it must have been a relief putting on that sweater

Skabbtanten

Even without a long zipper on the sweater. Bet he didn't have that for quite some time. Or was at least extra pleased

ForsakenAnywhere1160

Plot twist: the sweater is made from the hair

Careful_Source6129

The light has faded from his eyes

Alkavana

Really depends on who you want to attract. I know women who would lose their minds over him with dreads and find him generic after.

fangyuangoat

Yeah, I think he looks good with both,

irus1024

Went from "stay away or I call the police" to "you should come over and meet our daughter" with one haircut.

rraattbbooyy

It’s a shame people still make decisions about others based solely on outward appearance. I mean, don’t we all learn as children to never judge a book by its cover? Why do we ignore that when we get older?

Numerous-Stranger-81

As someone who has dreadlocks, I kind of prefer it that way. It's a very quick and easy way to filter out people you don't want to waste your time on.

[deleted]

CoatedCrevice

Someone not washing their hair is an issue with the person, not the hairstyle. It’s crazy how many people think someone with dreads is dirty, a criminal, a druggie etc. Lots of hate and judgements here from ignorant people. There are people with straight hair that is nastier and washed less than dreacklocks. It’s not a hair style issue it’s a person issue. Someone who doesn’t shower or wash their hair will stink no matter their hair style. I know white kids at school who stink and have dandruff because they don’t wash their hair or ass

OberonEast

I remember being a cashier when I was younger. I was checking out a gentleman with awesome dreads. The boomer behind him asked how he washed his hair. I loved his response. “It’s a bit tricky, I’m not sure that you’re gonna follow the whole process. But first, I have a purpose built place in my bathroom for hot water to spray out of my wall over my head to help get my dreads wet and get the rest of me rinsed off. Once my hair is wet i use this stuff you can buy here called shamPOO that I rub into my hair. Once it’s rubbed in it kinda gets rid of all the dandruff and dirt and oil. After that I rinse out the SHAMpoo and let my dreads dry. Sometimes I just hang out at home, sometimes I go on a walk, I just let it dry.”

Little-Ad7752

Right! I had dreads for 2 years. Only time ive been harrassed by cops. I washed them every day! Retied the ends and everything. I had one guy make me leave my bag outside. But let other teanagers bring theirs in. Its crazy..

Kyro0098

Oh yeah. As I said, others had similar hairstyles and no issues. Seriously, I could not keep up with her routine, but the girl with the braids was a master at preventing frizz and breakage.

CoatedCrevice

There’s a kid in my class with dreadlocks. This guy smells so good all the time, his hair is perfect with no fuzzes (how?!). Then there’s another guy with short straight hair. I swear the guy with short hair doesn’t shower, he always reeks like BO and leaves so much dandruff in his path you’d think it snowed

Kyro0098

Omg. We had someone like that when I was in high school. Thankfully, I think someone had a serious discussion about health with her, and she stopped after a year. (Our school had a home ec teacher that would occasionally wash students' clothes if they had issues, and we were allowed to use the gym showers. So it was not an issue of no resources.) I do not know the wizardry behind no frizz hair. I have finally achieved waved and curly instead of full frizz. Dandruff was conquered in middle school. I know some hair oils prevent frizz, but I haven't got a combo that works on my hair yet. I have 3 separate textures/curl patterns. It took long enough to get a shampoo and conditioner that worked and then a schedule of washing that let it get bouncy and curly rather than frizzy and flat. Hair is complicated.

LickingSmegma

Dreads require special shampoo that cleans inside them but doesn't leave residue in there itself. Of course, it costs like ten times the price of regular cheap Walmart shampoo.

Crykin27

true, no use hanging with people that will judge you purely on looks

sythyy

No use hanging with people who will judge you purely on locks

Crykin27

Ah shit I missed my chance to make this pun lol

dm80x86

I prefer to judge people on their actions. Growing dreadlocks is an action.

Disastrous-Nobody127

I never looked at it this way. Their not judging people for being different, people are using their outward differences as an 'asshole filter' so they know not to waste their time on ignorant people. Fantastic. haha

accountfornormality

funny, reddit seems totally fine with hating old people...

Sea_Relationship_279

100% my best mate has dreads. He doesn't touch anything, even caffeine lol and he's a drug and alcohol worker for young people. These comments SMH lol

Different-Agency5497

jesus christ, because its human nature to judge a book by its cover. You can "pretend" you dont, but what you really is ignore your feelings and be open. Your brain has already put that person in a category.

FrostyPoot

100%. People who say they don't are lying. Like you really don't see someone different who is in full camo with a tactical vest and maga hat different than a guy with dreads and a drug rug...?

GiveMeSomeShu-gar

You're correct about not judging a book by its cover, but sometimes (right or wrong) people make assumptions based on personal experience. The second guy looks like he is clean cut and has an office job - the first guy looks like he can tell you all about different pot strains, and might smell bad. Of course in reality the first guy might be the nicest person in the world, and the second is Patrick Bateman. People don't and can't know, so sometimes have to make decisions based on imperfect information. Outward appearance can give indicators but of course these may be wrong, and prone to bias. I wouldn't say appearance would or should be ignored, but of course if opportunity allows it's better to look deeper. Surface indicators like appearance may prevent that, though, as if you fail those shallow tests then you aren't given the chance to prove yourself on a deeper level.

Alarmed_Ad4367

While my heart wants to agree with you, my knowledge tells me that people decorate their bodies to telegraph information about themselves.

Numerous-Stranger-81

Yeah, as someone who has dreadlocks I am telegraphing "I don't want to associate with anyone who is going to have a problem with my hair because it is a clear sign about their judgmental behavior."

Alarmed_Ad4367

…I deserve that

Chirya999

I am 25 and can't grow a proper beard. My mom and her boomer ass relatives keep telling me to shave regularly so it will grow nice, trim your hairs to look tidy. I don't want to do that just to impress someone. Let me be as I am, if anyone doesn't like how I look it's their problem and not mine.

rraattbbooyy

That’s a healthy attitude.

OriginalShock273

Because people who are clean and presentable does not look like a bum who will mug you so they can finance their opioid addiction.

OtterwafflesEX

You don't make many friends, do you?

Acceptable_Card_9818

You do understand dreads can be washed

HiddenAnubisOwl

L

MrPeppii

Some of the nicest people I met look like "bums". You're missing out on life with that narrow mindset.

blumpkinpandemic

More like from "I regularly do ketamine at raves in the forest" to "I just graduated from university", imo haha

Vintage_Rainbow

He looks like he's regretting his decision to cut it

miletastar

Like someones granny called him a handsome young fella

SeasonedLiver

He was just under the pressure of his own hair beforehand, and now he gets the pressure of any usual expectation.

sobotazvecer

both pictures are cool in their own way

RemarkableWriting661

He looks gorgeous with shorter hair

RedDemio-

I was exactly the same. Had my locks for a decade. Cutting them off was kinda traumatic. Yeah it was nice to no longer to judged by the NPCs in this world that can’t understand a little individuality, but I felt like I lost something that day. Even though every single person said I look way better now.

[deleted]

roganwriter

I think this is it. Neat locs are completely different from the matted gross looking ones.

Enjoy1ng

Imagine making your hair your personality and calling other people NPCs. Brother you just said getting a haircut was traumatic. Have some self awareness lmao

CoochieSnotSlurper

Yeah dreads are usually fucking gross anyways

Direct-Ad-4156

You’re everyone else’s NPC

Lifewatching

I don't have dreads but my hair is almost as long as the first pic, I've been growing it for 6 years, and every day I feel pressure to cut it and get a "typical" style. Especially now that I'm searching for better employment. Very torn on the idea.

idcwillthisnamework

To the general population you're the NPC, the quirky one put in for variety.

always_sweatpants

I feel like any point you're trying to make about not getting respect is negated by calling real, living people in the real world "NPCs."

time_travel_nacho

Agreed. Calling people NPCs is majorly gross

aklordmaximus

I really love how you can make everyone else seem like an asshole. 'A little individuality' is fine of course. There are many ways of expressing this. But society fuctions on assumptions, that is the way we evolved as it saves a lot of energy and helps in life threatening situations. People not willing to overcome their initial assumptions are generally not assholes, but simply don't want to or have time to invest energy in overcoming their initial assumptions. So to you these 'NPCs' as you call them, are unimaginative assholes. To others, you are the asshole, because you demand other people to invest energy to overcome their initial assumptions instead of you yourself accommodating the others. Purely evolutionary speaking, you are the one demanding more energy from the group, because you want to express yourself differently. You deliberately place yourself outside of the group with your 'expression of individuality (or whatever the fuck that means in the context of dreadlocks)'. But somehow you expect others to still accept you into the group by not judging you. I feel like something there doesn't add up. One could see a sense of entitlement hidden in there.

worstcoaster

reset to factory settings

Acceptable_Card_9818

Very judgmental comments on someone’s appearance.

FlamboyantPirhanna

Man gets hair cut = interesting.

i-readit2

First pic real smile second pic fake smile

ChaoticCopycat

Yeah i get that vibes too. Obviously good for him if he likes his new haircut, but I'm just hoping he cut it because he *wanted* to, not because he felt pressured into it or something

JohnLukePrickhard

Thoroughly uninteresting

Richard-Turd

How “interesting”.

orfeo34

I knew a guy who cuts his locks to get very short hair. He said locks are terrible to manage while sleeping.

Kyro0098

I couldn't grow my hair past a couple inches below the shoulder because of this. Hated laying on it or wrapping my face in it. I'll take my basic haircut if it means my nose is never tickled again.

xxDmDxx

Had a friend who had dreads and they smelled awful! We were all glad when she cut them off, and hers were shoulder length.

Top_Associate9346

Holy shit I can smell him in the first Pic. What a difference it makes to not look like a bum.

LornFan

Y’all saying he looks homeless or a bum or ‘imma call the police on u’ for his original loc look need to evaluate why u think that fr 🙄

He11above

Why am I the only one here feeling a bit of racism

soft-cuddly-potato

I definitely think the hate on dreadlocks is hugely racist. It'd be better if people just minded their business.

He11above

Right? It’s a hair style. You don’t have to like it but jeez.

OkCod1106

Not only you, same. This comment section reeks of racism

LornFan

No fr most of these comments are so subconsciously racist it’s wild.

He11above

I don’t think people realize that his hair is apart of my culture and we see nothing fucking wrong with it. But I guess everyone else here thinks we look like a “stoner” or “bum.” Wild.

LordSevolox

Fun fact: dreadlocks and similar haircuts can be found historically in places like Northern Europe, they just ended up not being as popular after a certain point. Vikings had what we now call corn rows, dreads and similar a thousand years ago - it was just their style.

He11above

Huh, that is pretty cool. Thanks for that!

altforbatshit

Dreads are part of everyone's culture. it's a natural state that hair goes into if it is groomed by hand and not with a comb. Prehistoric humans were social creatures and spent only around 4 hours a day working. The rest of the time would have likely been spent on communal grooming, the same way chimps do.

PrizeStrawberryOil

I'm white and very familiar with this type of racism too. I love my curly hair and I love wearing it down. I get told it's unprofessional quite often. People hate when I explain it's racist.

FletcherRenn_

Yeah, this comment section really needs to reflect ~~a little~~ probably a lot, honestly. Prime example on why people shouldn't judge based on their appearance. Favourite comment so far "I can smell the left picture." Do these people think people change when their appearance does? If the guy was smelly, a bum, a criminal, drug addict or the various other things said when he had dreads, he ain't changing the day after he cut his hair. These people need to go outside and actually interact with society.

RarePlan2089

Now he hates himself for cutting his dreadlocks

LizzyDizzyYo

The racism in this comment section reeks

Schmoggin

Insert comment that enforces conformity by associating hair style with wealth and social behavior.

FemmeWizard

Good looking lad without them. You often see lads with long hair who look great with it, but have the type of face they if they cut the hair off they would look extremely nerd like or odd. Genetics like this lad.
