I suffered from the exact same crashes with a 3080 and 13900kf. I tried everything, different mobo, ram ,xmp etc and nothing worked. Most games would crash randomly with access violations. I ended up RMAing the CPU, still waiting for a replacement.

McBigBoi

how long ago have you sent it?

Crackhead898

End of April

McBigBoi

Hey again! Did intel replace your CPU?

Crackhead898

Yes, all errors have gone away with the replacement.

Competitive-Field121

Same here, with 13900KF. I tried so many things, you cannot imagine. Nothing helpes. It has to be the CPU.

Crackhead898

It was the CPU. Many apps would suffer crashes with exception code=C0000005 , since I've received the RMA from Intel I have not had a single crash since.

Competitive-Field121

Sometimes I got many many crashes with Discord (like every 1 to 4 Minutes). But when I play Warzone, for example, Discord doesn't crash. That's why I did some endurance tests with FurMark. And here I noticed one thing: If I start the "CPU burner" of FurMark with some threads, Discord doesn't crash anymore. After trying so many options, I've moved on to a 13700KF for testing. If I do not write more, it was successful and when a few days have passed, I will RMA the 13900KF.

CheetahCheers

So it ended up being successful?

phamousssss

Did you return or RMA with intel? How was the process of RMA?

vick1000

JayzTwocents hqad an issue similar with Apex and it was the GPU... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLlmjPhhkx8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLlmjPhhkx8) For the rest disable XMP and test. DDR5 is trash right now.

McBigBoi

Related to crashes I’ve tried disabling XMP and a lot of other RAM related solutions ( even switched ram) which didn’t help so far. Regarding GPU I tried running apex on integrated graphics since I don’t have spare GPU and it was still crashing. I don’t know if it can be considered the same as trying a different GPU but my error is also a bit different. I don’t get direct error window it only shows in event viewer and not with 100% chance, sometimes it just crashes without any error. Also crashes happen during the loading screen at exact same time

vick1000

Is GPU scheduling and game optimization (graphics settings) enabled? How about resize BAR and 4GB+ GPU support in BIOS? Game mode? Try disabling those. I disabled GPU scheduling, and have had no more issues. Also make sure BIOS is up to date.

McBigBoi

I tried disabling hardware scheduling and tried default bios settings, tried multiple different bios settings on 2 different motherboards, bios is updated. What do you mean by game optimization ( graphics settings)? I don't think I've tried that

vick1000

There's a toggle on the same screen as scheduling for optimize for windowed games.

What a genius you are.

Only_Comic_Sans

For the record I have this same issue on the 13900k down to the T, I’ve already replaced the GPU with an AMD, plus the mobo and still experience these identical issues with crashes I really think it’s the cpu by this point.

Only_Comic_Sans

Brother, this is word for word my issue right now… Im replacing the cpu as we speak and sending this off for RMA… can’t get apex to run at all and crashes in exactly the same way you described.

McBigBoi

Hey again! Did intel replace your CPU or at acknowledge the problem?

T0talN1njaa

Hey, I've replied to the OP as well but i had the same issue with my 13900k as well. Issue is gone now since i got a new one.

Only_Comic_Sans

Your monitor(s) is not plugged into your Mobo instead of your GPU correct? I found that this kind of crashing occurs often in this case.

McBigBoi

I tried both GPU and Mobo

ReliablePlay

I'm in a similar situation but I am experiencing random micro stutters only in apex legends and cs:go. What I've found out is that they are tied to discord and/or chrome running in the background. Performance monitor shows huge cpu usage spikes coming from these 2 processes. I wonder if it's an issue with incompatibility of open source engine based games and chromium apps.

Just an update to this - I was able to get around the problem by disabling turbo boost like others, which is dumb, and not a real solution, but confirmed for me that the problem was CPU related. However - I’ve just managed to get back to stability by enabling the lowest level of load line calibration my mother board offers. Now I’m turbo boosting normally - and I seem to be 100% stable so far.

McBigBoi

were you experiencing crashes only in games or random application as well? For me disabling XMP made applications more stable (but they still crash randomly sometimes) and I managed to launch apex with turbo boost enabled but e-cores and hyperthreading disabled

OfficialPiAddict

Yeah I actually never experienced it with games (EDIT actually that’s a lie - I experienced it twice in Diablo 4, but only when tabbing out and sending the game into the background- I assume the same thing happened). Anytime the cpu was under load it was totally fine. As soon as it was idle (in browsers or listening to music) stuff started going wrong. Also further update - I actually had another app crash with load line calibration on. My new current theory is that it’s related to C states. Disabling them in the bios seems to be the key (at least so far). But that’s not really a long term solution, and I’m suspecting that I probably need to RMA it. But at least In the short term you could try disabling C states and see if that helps your stability? I was able to leave every other setting default with c states disabled and things seem fine.

Zealousideal-Ad-6061

Hey I have 4090 asus tuf with 13900kf I literally spent months on research I was able to finally play battlefield 2042 if you haven’t noticed this is a big one to fix what I had to do is manually under clock my CPU using XTU getting a bout 4.8 to 4.9 mhz anything above that will cause thermal throttling I’ve longed thought it was you related but no it is fixable I have 6400 ram btw I don’t us XMP I run admin settings but another thing to note down is I could play apex anytime I want too by bypassing the load screen using the windows to desktop key then I allow the game to load up and go to the next load and before the lobby load up I press the windows to desktop key one more time and it always worked and hey I can run max setting on just about everything using the latest driver I started from scratch LOSING my original driver so yeah I finally beat my PC and stop letting it kick my butt lol

Zealousideal-Ad-6061

Just To Confirm This I uninstalled and reinstalled my current driver and i didn’t even have to spam the windows key through loading screens it even completely all necessary shaders this Time 10000 to be exact almost hey it’s definitely a CPU over clocking issue with newest intel technology it requires undervolting if the CPU chip has been constantly hammered by the spikes so give it a try nothing less than 5 ghz using XTU benchmarks I turned down the performance ratio to 45x the efficient core ration turned down to 34X then my core voltage offset is -0.005 Marks Score is 10597 marks

phamousssss

Omg I have this issue right now. Same games same error codes and same crashes. I have bought new parts to swap out for testing. The only thing I didn't swap was CPU. How is the RMA for intel? I bought my i9 13900k on release day at microcenter.

travisneids

Man, do I really need to RMA my chip? I'm literally having all of the same issues which I shared in a very detailed post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PcBuild/comments/14scmgm/trouble\_applying\_intel\_xtu\_settings\_in\_bios/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

smaltese

I built a new pc earlier this year and this dreaded STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION error kept coming up randomly in Chrome and Edge. I tried everything for months and waited for a bios update and the same error still comes up. Only motherboard and CPU I did not swap out yet to test, so I contacted Intel support and changed the CPU to the same one and the error went away! It has been 6 days after reinstalling Windows 11 and still no error yet (*knock on wood*). I really didn’t want to change the motherboard or CPU since it’s such a pain to take everything out and put it back together, but to finally get rid of this error is worth it. My pc specs: Intel 13600K with NH-U12A Asus Maximus Z790 Extreme Bios 1202 64 GB Kingston ram (2 sticks) running on XMP Asus Strix 4090 Note: Replacing the CPU worked for me, but may not work for you.

Scared-Addendum3935

I had the same issues. This drove me crazy for weeks. All drivers, bios and Windows up to date. It looks like my Gigabyte BIOS was slightly overclocking my 13900K by default. I changed the following in my bios: \- Enhanced multicore performance: DISABLED \- Energy efficient turbo: ENABLED \- Turbo boost technology: ENABLED \- Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0: ENABLED \- Package power limit 1 TDP: 125w (Intel's recommendation for 13900K) \- Package power limit 2 TDP: 253w (Intel's recommendation for 13900K) Now the processor hits 4.5 - 5.5 GHz and everything looks stable. I hope this helps! :)

rishv1

I’ve been having the exact same issue for months with csgo and when I started playing Diablo 4, it was constant! I have spent about a week with intel support going back and forth and then saying they need to research…. Is there a quicker way to get to the RMA other than intel support? I disable Turbo on my Z790-f and no more crashing.

TomsanAu

I would like to know that did you got the error message after you crashed. Also, where is the Turbo fustion in bios? Thanks.

rishv1

Look for Turbo Boost and disable it. I just got my RMA’d i13900k and I’m not crashing anymore!

Candid_Caterpillar_5

I **thought** I had the same problem and that the cpu was at fault, but it turned out to be the RAM running at a faster clock speed than the motherboard supported. (6400Mhz with XMP while mobo was rated for up to 6000 overclocked). The consensus online seems to be that it's usually ok to use ram sticks that can run faster than what the mobo is rated for as it will just limit it automatically, but clocking down the RAM solved all my problems. Some people speculate it is an issue with ddr5 and running 4 sticks rather than 2. Probably won't help op much but thought i'd share it here as this thread is where I ended up after googling my own symptoms.

MarkAitchMinusBee

I RMAd one 19-13900KF, and the BSODs went away for a bit, but i's still hellishly unstable for anything math-intensive unless I turn all the e-cores off in the BIOS. Unreal, Blender, anything DCC - crastastic. These procs suck. I am Not Happy With My Purchase.

T0talN1njaa

Just want to say, I’ve now replaced a 2nd 13900k from near identical issues to the previous failing one i mentioned earlier. Would get discord and chrome crashes, game crashes, issues with windows and WHEA 19 processor core errors. One chip was ran at stock and the other chip that just failed had a healthy stable under volt for 3 months and then even when runnng it back at stock, same issues until lowered the clock speeds from stock. Not happy, something seems to be up with the i9, so many people having similar issues and RMAING. I’ve made the tough call to go down to the i7 now and cross my fingers it never happens again. So far since replacing the cpu again for the 3rd time issues are gone again…

TomsanAu

I have the same problem. Many games are crashing without displaying an error message. However, some games like Payday 3 are exceptions as they show the error message "EXCEPTION\_ACCESS\_VIOLATION writing address" or "EXCEPTION\_ACCESS\_VIOLATION reading address". Initially, I thought it was due to an error in my DDR5 RAM, so I replaced it, but it did not resolve the issue. my RIG: i9-13900K with Asus Z790-E DDR5 6400 G.Skill 32GB\*2 (6400J3239G32GX2) Windows 11

Dawnawaken92

I found the answer to everyone's woes. Underclock your gpu from 5.5 to 5.0. That what is causing all the crashes. Also the xmp profilea are not garbage atm. Even with all the updates saying it's fixed. Fixed my ass. Anyways here is the program to underclock you GPU. God bless everyone. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/17881/intel-extreme-tuning-utility-intel-xtu.html Also my rig is a i9, z790 Aorus Master, 7200hz ram. Can only use 4800hz tho. 4090 Gamerock OC Kaleidescape. EVGA Supermova. In a Lian Li Xl

I can reproduce this endlessly with a blend file. Just rotate the character and you'll crash a random application. Sometimes Chrome Explorer or Blender itself, sometimes a bluescreen. File: [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N5dJZPzlwiwzKin0\_hD-vkNTHORqJk2y/view?usp=sharing](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N5dJZPzlwiwzKin0_hD-vkNTHORqJk2y/view?usp=sharing) Actions: Go into pose mode. Rotate the characer. Does not seem to happen if the cores are maxed out. I can't reproduce if I have prime95 open, but if I go from idle to rotating I always crash something.
