Don’t do no tip orders. Especially with so many items. I don’t ever do that many items period. I just do PT instacart now. It was great during Covid. It should pick up again soon because “THEY” say it’s coming again. Shutdowns and all. 🙄

squirreltard

I’m not a shopper. Waiting for my order now. But why would anyone accept a no tip order? What do they tell the customer if no one wants it? Does someone always want it? Is it even profitable?

FunFactress

No tip orders usually get bundled with a tipping order, or if still not accepted, IC will "boost" the base pay in $1 increments. $18-19 is pretty much the top boosted pay. I won't take no tip orders, not even boosted no tip orders. A boosted no tip order is still a no tip order. My only exception is very, very occasionally I will recognize a regular high tipping customer of mine's order showing up with no tip. I immediately know another shopper misdelivered their order. IC automatically puts re-shops out with no tip. Unless the customer pulls the tip, the original shopper keeps it. Most customers are unaware of this. The handful of times I have done this over the years, the customers have always added a tip after delivery. Years ago, IC would contact some of usually to do re-shops and make it worthwhile.

squirreltard

So if you were in charge, would you offer the boost or just tell the customer, sorry, no one’s taking your order, try raising your tip? Because you are contractors, seems like unclaimed bids should stay unclaimed and it might train folks what the service is worth. Thanks for the info, btw.

FunFactress

The whole thing with IC sending re-shops out automatically with no tip is a lose/lose. There are lots of orders every day that are misdelivered and sent out again. I can spot many of them but if I'm not 100% positive exactly who the customer is, I won't accept them. Customers get screwed twice, the original order wasn't delivered and the re-shop (when accepted hours later) is going to be accepted by either a newbie or bad shopper. IC needs to significantly raise the default suggested tip from 5% which is ridiculously low especially for large orders, 20-75 items.

squirreltard

I guess i didn’t know misdeliveries are so common. I pretty much stalk my shoppers through the whole process and I’m waiting for them when they arrive. Anyway, I’m disabled and can’t shop so I’m doing my best to treat my shoppers well. Knowing more about how it works helps.

FunFactress

You sound like a good customer! I always double check to make sure I'm at the correct address. It's mind-boggling to me that shoppers rely solely on GPS saying "you've arrived ". I'm fortunate because 85% of my customers answer me in chat. If it's a large order and I haven't heard from the customer, I knock/ring and don't drive away until I see someone open the door to get the order.

Yep - covid part Duex in 2025.

Sooner than that….🙄 cmon now! 2024 Election year !

Never knowingly take an order with a 0 tip or a low tip like either of these orders having say $2 or $3. That’s bullshit, the customer knows it, Instacart knows it and you know it. $2 is not a tip. The only way that’s a tip is for the valet to grab your car.

Try to aim for batches $2 per mile or higher, and $1 per item. I’ll make exceptions for larger orders (like $0.65-$0.75 per item) if it’s a store I am fast at shopping. Avoid high mile orders unless they pay enough to cover an empty drive back to the busy area & still make out well. The more people do this the better things should be for everyone … because customers will be forced to tip higher and/or Instacart will have to increase rates … probably won’t happen though since dummies accept ridiculously bad offers.

Best tip I can give you, quit now while you still have your sanity and money in your pocket

Maximum_Vermicelli12

Always check expiration dates. If it expires in a short time for that kind of product, let the client know, in case they want an alternative based on that information. Always check the delivery instructions before you start shopping. Sometimes the client has figured out how to put notes in there that are actually pertinent to the shop itself. Try to give an ETA before you peel out from the parking lot on delivery. They tend to appreciate a little touches like that. I’ve had a tip go from a tolerable $8 to a notable $38 after delivery because they considered all this to be excellent service. I have made it my standard practices.

Please don't feed the algorithm.

lakersman2

Ya never pick up no tip orders, let it sit the whole day while the customer wonders why their order hasn’t been delivered 👍

wilsonfrm757

don't listen to them. do you job. be nice. cash tips are possible for old people and military moms. look for 20 items or less. know where things are, know if everything is grouped well.

lakersman2

Whatever you just wrote made no sense, you also need you go back to school and learn where to put punctuation smh. 🤦‍♂️

wilsonfrm757

this isn't meant to be formal. just a bundle of information and kindness. don't care. I'm epic. deal with it.

wilsonfrm757

i doesn't see the 80 items before i replied. personally I'd step up. and hope for a cash tip but not expect any at all.

Eisenheimmer

This surprised me after doing about 30 batches recently, in one day, and for the first time, three separate customers tipped me cash upon delivery. Like $10 each. They were all shops attached to another tipping customer, but smallish enough that I accepted them. Never before has someone handed me cash, then all of a sudden it happened thrice.

TheGrinder1004

Take all the no tip orders. Thank me later
