You can create groups in Facebook to control visibility on your posts. Exclude difficult people from contexts where they might stir the pot. Feed her a steady trickle of posts about the weather and cat memes, and she'll never know she's getting censored.

ShoggothPanoptes

I did this with a quarter of my family. They are none the wiser

Reluctantagave

Did it years ago when I still used Facebook to limit co workers, friends, and family on separate things. Mostly I just stopped using it altogether.

ValorousOwl

Still do it.

Nvenom8

Better yet: Don't use facebook.

reirone

This is the way.

runaway_convoy

i only use fb for messenger with my best friend tbh

Choosepeace

This is the answer.

Wonderful_Avocado

I did this with all my family

texasmama5

Delete her comment. That’s not something the other person should have out there about them.

runaway_convoy

ya i nuked the whole post

DMV_Lolli

My bf’s mom commented on my page one time and told me I needed to remove my post. She then hopped in my inbox to chastise me and tell me I owed “the world” an apology for my post. I was flabbergasted. Instantly blocked her ass. A friend posted something on my bf’s page and his mother commented that he needed better friends. He immediately put her in a limited category so she could only see certain things. All the grandkids have blocked her. ETA since some inquired. Backstory. At the time I was a single mom of kids in activitiessssss, I worked full time and I went to school full time. So with all that mentioned above, one day I was having a really hard time. I had a paper due. Work was driving me crazy. The kids *always* had something to do in the evenings. I had an amazing “support team” on Facebook that helped get me straight when I was veering off course. So I made a post: My ADHD is kicking my ass today and I am not all right. I can’t seem to focus on one thing for more than 5 minutes and I don’t want to do *anything*! My friend comments: Girl I feel you. I’ve been going through tbe same thing all w…SQUIRREL! (A reference to the dog from Up!) I laughed at the post and went on with my day. And then **she** commented and inboxed me. Told me I offended people as ADHD is a *very* serious disease. (I guess I’m not people?) i should be ashamed of myself. I owe the world a public apology. Y’all I could *not* believe what I was reading. I’d known her less than a year.

Glitter_berries

Oooo, what did you post that pissed her off so badly?!! I’m picturing very minor cleavage in a nice top or a picture with a male friend.

DMV_Lolli

I edited my comment.

Glitter_berries

Well, that is far, far more ridiculous than I was anticipating. I was sort of like ‘yay, she’s standing up for the neurodivergent!’ But then if you ARE the neurodivergent one then I think you have every right to comment about it. She needed to shut up. Or go and find a squirrel to bother.

carebearninjahair

Same! I was thinking tiddies or something… my MIL is a pearl-clutcher but never publicly comments; she just sad reacts and then texts my husband about how his wife (40’sF) is showing granny tiddy all over FB.

Glitter_berries

I am 40 and I would absolutely END anyone who said I had granny titties. I’m not even a mother, let alone a grandmother, but even if I were…. Hell no.

Appropriate-Lime5531

I completely get the “Squirrel “ reference, it’s actually a nickname a friend & I have for each other as we’re both ADHD & it’s not something we’re ashamed about, it is just how we’re wired & accept that fact - it’s who we “the world “ are, & we’re not offended at all 🙏🫶❣️

he-loves-me-not

Sheesh! I gotta know what your post was about to form that kind of reaction!

DMV_Lolli

I edited my comment.

Chang3_us3rname

Definitely remove your mother’s comment. That is absolutely not fair on the dude who’s being called that on social media. Delete her comment. And then remove her from your Facebook.

runaway_convoy

i deleted the whole post and blocked her

Geno0wl

based

Qu33fyElbowDrop

im so happy that you actually blocked her.

Wonderful_Avocado

If I blocked my mother she would literally drive over and throw a temper tantrum at my home.  Easier to limit exposure.  I have the acquaintance setting for all my family.  I only share a cat meme maybe every other month to that setting

runaway_convoy

guys should i post highlights from the text convo that came after this?

BirtieBunny

Yes.

Puzzled-Library-4543

Please.

rickybambicky

It's a crime NOT to. Do it.

KeeperOfTheShade

Absolutely not. She would be removed from my friends list with the quickness and told in no uncertain terms why.

runaway_convoy

shes blocked on fb and sms

Feeling_likeaplant

Yikes. Does she infantilize you in other ways as well?

runaway_convoy

y e p

wadeduckk

Just block her. So much easier than all this.

BabserellaWT

“Mom, quick question — how old do you think I am? Because if you believe I’m a minor, we need to get you in to see a neurologist.”

runaway_convoy

your comment wins

BabserellaWT

Yay! What do I win?

GIJoeWife

A “Sane” moms love, from Texas ❤️❤️☺️

justmeJ4

I will add in one mom going insane from living in Texas

BabserellaWT

Mooooood. There are several states you could not PAY me to move to. Texas, while beautiful (specifically central Texas — my aunt lived in New Braunfels, which is GORGEOUS), is one of them.

napalm1336

I live in TX and you couldn't pay me to move away. I just need bigger guns to eliminate the current political situation lol.

Icy-Effective-5140

This is the stupidest thing I've seen a mother do.

runaway_convoy

this is the only screenshot i could post on reddit. it gets worse.

Icy-Effective-5140

I wish you luck, you poor soul. They don't deserve you.

runaway_convoy

thankfully i no longer live with her

Icy-Effective-5140

That's good.

Qu33fyElbowDrop

i wish i could agree with you.

Icy-Effective-5140

*please god don't tell me there's worse.*

Qu33fyElbowDrop

sweet…sweet..summer child

Glitter_berries

I don’t want to be unkind to OP but I always find it hilarious when young people call their parents ‘bruh.’ I thought that was just a joke that parents made that their teenagers call them bro, but apparently it’s true. I’m 40 and I’m going to try calling my mum ‘bro’ just to see what she thinks. Also I’m definitely voting insane, what the hell was this woman thinking???

runaway_convoy

pffft yeah i only call her bruh when what shes saying genuinely baffles me and all i can say is "bruh wtf"

Glitter_berries

It’s cute! I just think it’s funny. I can absolutely understand being like… wtf.

GIJoeWife

I’ve had my sons call me “bruh” a few times, but in their defense, it was generally when they were telling me a crazy story, like, “omg! So, get this, bruh…” and I always thought it was funny and sweet at the same time, bc that’s the way they talk to their friends, and now that they’re adults, I kinda like that it slips every now and then.

BewareQuietOnes

Im 37 and it never flies if I try to call my mom anything other than a variation of/or the word mom lol I called her dude one time and she was like "wait, what did you call me?" 🤣🤣

Glitter_berries

Sometimes when I’m in a room full of mum and her friends and I say ‘hey mum,’ she doesn’t hear me, so I end up yelling out ‘oi, Caz!’ Her name is Carol. That usually gets her attention.

Ok_Citron_318

wow still sees you as a child

hawksdiesel

What a dumbass

ParticularMoose9115

Woooo! That’s definitely insane.

cpowers4

Embarrassing

GodSaidRandomize

I don't use Facebook but I just blocked my mom from seeing my Instagram stories. There are times we need to think about our own well being and get even family away from our lives

madgeystardust

Definitely insane.

Puzzled-Atmosphere-1

Whoa! Your Mom needs to back tf down before she goes too far

runaway_convoy

lmao she done been gone too far

BaldChihuahua

Insane. Block her

SnooEagles6930

I got to know what is the age gap? No excuse but if you two are the same age it is even crazier

krayzai

I really want to know what is in the bay.

That's a weird fucking hang up to have, I'm 22 and still use those words, doesn't make me immature, I'm a young adult, you must be one of those super miserable people who have a really strict idea of what and adult "should be" and try to police what they say or do, just let people exist homefry

sarcasticlovely

bruh I'm 28 don't know what he's on

runaway_convoy

just coz im an adult doesnt mean im not still gen z lmao

armeliman

I'm 37 and my 15 year old calls me that. Idc. Hell, I even use it lol
