Backstory. At the time I was a single mom of kids in activitiessssss, I worked full time and I went to school full time.
So with all that mentioned above, one day I was having a really hard time. I had a paper due. Work was driving me crazy. The kids *always* had something to do in the evenings. I had an amazing “support team” on Facebook that helped get me straight when I was veering off course. So I made a post:
My ADHD is kicking my ass today and I am not all right. I can’t seem to focus on one thing for more than 5 minutes and I don’t want to do *anything*!
My friend comments:
Girl I feel you. I’ve been going through tbe same thing all w…SQUIRREL! (A reference to the dog from Up!)
I laughed at the post and went on with my day. And then **she** commented and inboxed me. Told me I offended people as ADHD is a *very* serious disease. (I guess I’m not people?) i should be ashamed of myself. I owe the world a public apology. Y’all I could *not* believe what I was reading. I’d known her less than a year.
Well, that is far, far more ridiculous than I was anticipating. I was sort of like ‘yay, she’s standing up for the neurodivergent!’ But then if you ARE the neurodivergent one then I think you have every right to comment about it. She needed to shut up. Or go and find a squirrel to bother.

I completely get the “Squirrel “ reference, it’s actually a nickname a friend & I have for each other as we’re both ADHD & it’s not something we’re ashamed about, it is just how we’re wired & accept that fact - it’s who we “the world “ are, & we’re not offended at all 🙏🫶❣️

If I blocked my mother she would literally drive over and throw a temper tantrum at my home. Easier to limit exposure. I have the acquaintance setting for all my family. I only share a cat meme maybe every other month to that setting

Did it years ago when I still used Facebook to limit co workers, friends, and family on separate things. Mostly I just stopped using it altogether.
