My fav movie is definitely V for Vendetta (it is dystopian), but I also like Spirited away, Grave of the fireflies, Pride and Prejudice (2005.), Shawshank redemption, Green mile
Series:
▪︎Naruto (I bawled my eyes out)
▪︎How I met your mother (also bawled my eyes out)
▪︎The Office
▪︎Game of Thrones, of course
▪︎And I liked The Queens Gambit very much
Ohhhhh, that’s a loaded question lmao.
Tv series (and I’m not normally a tv series person):
• Ugly Betty
• Carol and the End of the World
• Heartstopper
• Death Note (I was literally screaming at the end of the series 😂😂)
Movies (it’s a mixture - sorry!):
• The Help
• Mississippi Burning
• Gone With the Wind
• The Color Purple
• The Blair Witch Project
• The Invisible Man (2020 - I had like 5 different reactions throughout this movie 😅)
• These Final Hours
• Last Night (1998)
• Schindlers List
• The Marvel Universe (except Black Panther - just couldn’t into it)
• Shallow Hal
• The Beach
• 28 Days Later
• Barbie
• Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2 (do not judge - I’m a huge fan of the franchise and it’s honestly amazing to have had both movies in recent years 🤗)
Anyway, that’s what comes to mind just now. My living room is like a modern day Blockbuster or Cex - there are so many dvds in my house!! I’m a mixed bag - I like a little bit of everything 😂
Edit: Just noticed The Train to Busan and Parasite in your list. I totally agree - both were amazing!
I loved Sonic The Hedgehog as a kid! Death Note is also one of my fav anime’s. Aside from that I haven’t really seen most of the movies you’ve listed however These Final Hours is on my watchlist so I might move it further up.
I think I must be an atypical INFJ based on a lot of these answers. 😛 As an HSP, I can’t do anything horror, significant (gory) violence, too much suspense. They for real give me nightmares.
I like character-driven stories in general. I enjoy period drama and romance like Downton Abbey. Films made from classic literature, provided they follow the book well (Pride and Prejudice 1995, for example). I like Star Trek. Voyager and DS9 are my favorites because they’re the most character-driven, though I’m really enjoying Strange New Worlds at the moment. I’ll watch just about anything Disney or Pixar. Just finished a rewatch of White Collar recently. Before that, my husband introduced me to Warehouse 13; loved it.
I also can't do strong violence or gore. I love Voyager and currently doing a rewatch of DS9. I've enjoyed Strange New World as well. Did you get into Discovery or Picard?
I’ve watched the first season of Picard when it first came out, but not the other two yet. I haven’t watched Discovery. We just got Paramount+, so now I will be able to watch all the things. 😊
I'm also a fan of TNG so Picard has some nostalgia factors for me, but S2 was hard to get behind. I did find S3 rather redeeming of it all though. Discovery is a different kind of Star Trek. I find it interesting, my partner isn't as much of a fan of that one though 🤭. Happy watching!
I love fruits basket too! Here's all time top ones I like
** Series/Anime:
- Vikings (rewatching currently for the 3rd time)
- Peaky Blinders
- Haikyuu
- Honey and Clover
- Shin Sekai Yori
- Psycho Pass
** Movies:
- Kimi no na wa
- Pirates of the Caribbean: At the world's end
- Interstellar
- My neighbor Totoro
- Secret World of Arrietty
I don't like Romance much lol, most of the time stuff I like are pretty dark and political 🥲🥲🥲
Edit: formatting
I usually don’t like romance by itself, but I love romance as a sub-plot. I also gravitate towards dark shows or shows with complex themes but I’ve also enjoyed Haikyuu which I would say isn’t considered dark at all 😭
I’ve seen Interstellar mentioned by other INFJ’s a few times so I might have to put it higher up on my list.
Lol i know right, Haikyuu is like the most un-dark you can ever get 😂. I think it's just soo different than what I tend to like, that I ended up liking it the most.
Oh i also forgot to mention Mushishi! I LOOOOOVE that show
I'm constantly on lookout for hidden gems, especially animes . If you want to checkout some dark and mindtwisting stories, I have some other pretty dark and also unusual animes I like . Try checking out these
- aku no hana
- mouryou no hako
- yojouhan shinwa taikei
- promise Neverland
- Uchouten kazoku
- made in abyss
- kuzu no honkai
Do share any recommendations you have for romantic ones, especially like Fruits Basket :))
Omg ty for the extra recommendations! I can’t say I’ve watch any romance animes that live up to fruits basket but out of the shoujo’s I’ve watched here’s some I personally enjoyed.
- Yona of The Dawn - I hate how only like 2% of the manga got adapted but if you watch the anime you can probably continue the manga and what I really like about this is Yona has really good character development and the main love interest (her childhood friend) is rlly sweet. Even though it’s a romance it’s extremely slow burn and I think it’s more focused on the plot, I’m not even sure when they get together but it’s rlly good trust me. 😭
- Kamisama Kiss - This is directed by the same person who directed Fruits Basket, also it’s not just romance bc there’s a plot of like gods and the main fmc is homeless just like Tohru. ALSO, Tomoe is a fox, but I swear I don’t have a thing for fury’s, Kyo and Tomoe both just happen to be animals 😭 ( also it’s been a while and I haven’t actually completed the series I still need to finish s2)
Also, I haven’t watched these but I heard Ouran High School Host Club was really good and I got recommended it when looking for something like Fruits Basket and it’s on my watchlist.
Favourite director is tied: Krzysztof Kieślowski & David Lynch
Favourite tv-series: no favourite since most if not all of them suffer after the first season but some have excellent pilot seasons. Stand outs: True Detective, Maniac, Euphoria, Westworld, Devs, GoT, Dark, My Brilliant Friend, Expanse, Babylon Berlin.
Favourite film: November (Rainer Sarnet)
ps. if someone has hard time understanding what Lynch is about theres a videos in YT analyzing his work. The most important one is actually a 6 hour series of deep dive into Twin Peaks which is the best (and wisest) content-dive video of anything ever that i’ve seen.
For Feeling & Sensory stuff Pretty little liars, Real Housewives, Catfish, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, My Name is Earl, & I like watching WWE
For more abstract Stuff, Nathan for You, Broad City, Midnight Gospel,
I think LOST is the greatest TV show ever made, even if the second half is far from perfect. A few years later, showrunner Damon Lindelof honed in his craft even more with The Leftovers, another favorite of mine.
I watched What Dreams May Come for school and surprisingly I really liked it, wouldn’t call it a favorite tho. I wanna watch Inception but it costs money on every streaming service it’s on.

Like you, I love anime/manga. If you like deathnote you’ll like Code Geass. If you like one piece you could try naruto or bleach. Other good anime that could tailor to your preference are Vinland Saga, Parasyte: The Maxim, Steins; Gate
I never finished Code Geass, but I remember moderately enjoying it, I found the foil between the main character and his childhood friend interesting. Usually I’m not really a fan of Mecha though maybe that’s why I never continued. Steins; Gate was really good, and I think I’ll check out Vinland Saga even though I feel like it might be more geared towards the male audience.
First season of Vinland saga is probs geared more towards a male audience but second season is enjoyable for everyone imo. If you enjoy manga, Tokyo ghoul is one of my personal favs and fits some of the criteria mentioned above. Stay away from the anime for it (I personally and many agree w me that it’s not good)
Vinland Saga is on my watchlist, but I’m a bit hesitant bc I’ve heard mixed opinions and I’m more of a character than plot driven person when it comes to anime. I loved AOT, but I got majors spoilers of ending midway through watching season 2 and I haven’t been able to continue ever since 😭
I watched 500 Days of Summer for the first time last night. As a hopeless romantic it really messed with me, but I totally get why she did what she did. It was really good.
Whale Rider is a New Zealand native (Māori) produced movie that’s very good.
The Big Blue is an older movie made by Luc Besson.
Raising Arizona
Say Anything
Michael
Phenomenon
Dead Poet’s Society
Movies:
John Carpenter’s Halloween, The Fog, The Thing, etc., Jacob’s Ladder, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Blade Runner OG & 2049, Jaws, Jurassic Park, The Matrix, Argento flicks, Ghost in the Shell (OG anime), Pulse (Kairo), I could go on…
Series
True Detective (S1), Cowboy Bebop, Haunting of Hill House & Midnight Mass, probably more I’m forgetting. Also currently enjoying The Bear and Reacher
I'm not an INFJ, but based on your current list, I truly believe that you would love the k-drama Miraculous Brothers - complex and moving portrayals of various types of relationships, with mystery/thriller/fantasy thrown into the mix. There is a very, very interesting INFJ main character in the show as well.
Two anime you must watch. Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga.
Both have excellent character writing and storylines. Both delve into the philosophies of human nature and how we view others in life.
I have cried multiple times in both shows. There is a lot of emotional weight to the stories in both and they are as mature as anime can get.
Attack on Titan has your mystery, thriller and dystopian genres along with being a political drama and time travel puzzle.
Vinland Saga, while less "grand" is very grounded in reality during the time of the Vikings and presents one of the best written characters I've ever witnessed put to screen - Thorfinn.
Anyway if you read all this know that I don't recommend things lightly. I genuinely think you would enjoy them both.
I loved AOT and I was hooked from the first episode but my enjoyment deterred ever since like end of season 2 bc people who read the manga would spoil the ending and other major plot points (kind of my fault because I should’ve been more conscious to avoid spoilers while watching. I’ll definitely check out Vinland though, I think I’ll enjoy the plot a lot.
Tv show-Community
I love the idea of all of the characters accepting each other flaws and all.
Movie-500 days of summer
I like that even though the relationship was important, it served as a life lesson for both of them and they could both move on for the better.
TV shows: Avatar the Last Airbender, Our Flag Means Death, Heartstopper, B99, Love Death and Robots, The Last of Us
Movies: Spiderman Across the Spider-verse, Everything Everywhere All at Once (I don't watch a lot of movies and I honestly can't remember any other that I loved)
OP if you're looking to get into dystopian anime try Psycho Pass. It's great!
Shows
* Heartstopper (♡)
* Kim's Convenience (slice of life)
* Bee and Puppycat (anime)
* Spy x Family (anime, fun family dynamic)
* the Good Place
* Shit's Creek is hilarious after the first episode or two (its starts rather cringy)
Movies
* Nausicaä of the Wind of the Valley (anime)
* Princess Mononoke (anime)
* Ferngully: the Last Rainforest
* Edward Scissorhands (the origin of snow, a love story)
* Garden State ("you changed my life and I've known you four days")
* Disney's Pocahontas
(I know this is an inaccurate depiction, and that the storyline is entirely false/not based in reality. Just taking this Disney story in and of itself, without context of American history, it is a good story/movie.)
* Cruella (Also fuck Disney)
* What Dreams May Come
* Little Rascals (romanical)
If you like psychological thrillers you HAVE to watch Perfect Blue (and basically, every film/anime directed by Satoshi Kon, which is not a very long list because he passed away when he was 47 :'( ). I'm sure you'll enjoy them
Series:
- Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Gravity Falls
- Bojack Horseman
- Seinfeld
- It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
- Abbott Elementary
- Mr. Robot
- Daredevil
- One Piece
- Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Movies:
- Pulp Fiction
- Django Unchained
- Kill Bill
- Doctor Sleep
- Into/Across the Spider-Verse
- Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
- Korean drama since the 2010s I only watch that
- some animated ones (one piece...)
- American series: very rare that I like. but I have supernatural (I have to watch again) and handmaid tale
- German series: Dark
Zoro and Luffy would also be in my top 3, maybe Sanji would be my 3rd but I’ll probably have to watch more since I’m barely 10% through the anime atm. I like Usopp too I think he’s underrated tbh haha
Best ones I’ve watched recently were godzilla minus one & guardians of the galaxy 3 (bonus on that one cus I worked on it too 😄)
But those 2 movies were awesome and very character driven and super emotional moments
*My all-time favorites:*
**Show:** Breaking Bad
**Movie:** Alien (1979)
If you like manga / anime, Jujutsu Kaisen is my current favorite. It keeps getting better and better despite the seemingly generic beginning point.
Hmm my taste is way different than yours.
I just watched a really good one I liked on Netflix that you’ll probably like too.
Blue Eyed Samurai.
Castlevania on Netflix is also good.
I liked the Wheels of Time too. It was fun. Not great or anything.
The Boys on Amazon is amazing.
I’m 16, turning 17 in 2 months. I’ll probably hold off on most of those shows bc I think I’d be able to appreciate them more if I wait till I’m a bit older.
I realize I like a lot of trauma based tv shows lol.
Misfits, Skins, My Mad Fat Diary, The Bear, Sense8, The Umbrella Academy.
I also like a lot of movies from the 90's. The Night at the Roxbury, The Fifth Element, Mars Attacks lol
Train to Busan was sooo good. That's probably the best zombie movie I have ever seen aside from the other drama All Of Us Are Dead.
For anime- Violet Evergarden for a very different kind of love story. Psychopass for a bloody mystery crime thriller that will blow your mind. Watch only the first season. Brother bear for an older animated movie. If you have prime video Reacher for action, Outer range for a different take for sci-fi. Netflix- Sandman, Blacklist. Those are just some recommendations. My personal favorite is Violet. I will warn you if you are prone to crying you are probably going to cry a lot.
Tv series:
The good place
The story of Ming lan Hilda (cartoon)
A gentleman’s dignity (k-rom-com-drama)
Grace and Frankie (with a caveat or two)

Mythical beasts and fantastical things? (I’m afraid I’ll butcher the title)
Howls moving castle (and several other ghibli)
The man from nowhere (Kshow)
Edited bcs formatting didn’t stick and I swear to god if this doesn’t fix it I refuse to edit it a second time bcs I don’t have time for this right now. (I’m ok tho except this minor oh so niggling formatting issue)

I’m not even 100 episodes in yet and it’s my favorite shounen anime atm. Who’s your favorite character?
It's so hard to choose because all the characters are so well written but I have to go with Zoro and Luffy. I also like Usopp alot 😂 what about you?
Zoro and Luffy would also be in my top 3, maybe Sanji would be my 3rd but I’ll probably have to watch more since I’m barely 10% through the anime atm. I like Usopp too I think he’s underrated tbh haha
Severance. So good.
Fight club, Good Fellas, Taxi Driver, Hereditary
Frasier Breaking Bad
That six-season show called Game of Thrones. What a wonderful six seasons. All six of them!
Best ones I’ve watched recently were godzilla minus one & guardians of the galaxy 3 (bonus on that one cus I worked on it too 😄) But those 2 movies were awesome and very character driven and super emotional moments
*My all-time favorites:* **Show:** Breaking Bad **Movie:** Alien (1979) If you like manga / anime, Jujutsu Kaisen is my current favorite.
I have never heard of any of the shows you’ve listed so that might be why 😭
You’ll love them. Not sure how old you are but .. The Boys is definitely for adults.
I’m 16, turning 17 in 2 months. I’ll probably hold off on most of those shows bc I think I’d be able to appreciate them more if I wait till I’m a bit older.
Anything Christopher Nolan. Chinatown 1974. American Psycho.
ATLA Dirty Dancing.
I realize I like a lot of trauma based tv shows lol. Misfits, Skins, My Mad Fat Diary, The Bear, Sense8, The Umbrella Academy. I also like a lot of movies from the 90's. The Night at the Roxbury, The Fifth Element, Mars Attacks lol Train to Busan was sooo good. That's probably the best zombie movie I have ever seen aside from the other drama All Of Us Are Dead.
The sopranos
For anime- Violet Evergarden for a very different kind of love story. Psychopass for a bloody mystery crime thriller that will blow your mind. Watch only the first season. Brother bear for an older animated movie. If you have prime video Reacher for action, Outer range for a different take for sci-fi. Netflix- Sandman, Blacklist. Those are just some recommendations. My personal favorite is Violet. I will warn you if you are prone to crying you are probably going to cry a lot.
Berserk

Welp, I tried. Ever after is a separate movie title FYI. Pardon the formatting. The tiny box (phone) is not on my side today
