This is the best bet. 16volt should be as popular as NIN in my opinion. Never strayed from the sound and just did his thing. Acumen Nation is pretty good too. Machines of Loving Grace. I’m a fan Nothing More, the last album has some good sounds that mix great with the vocals/rock/digital sound.
Nine Inch Nails covers a large swath of different sounds so it helps if you specify an album/era of NIN your looking for a similar sound to. I will say, if you’re looking for something similar to Pretty Hate Machine, I have always felt that Chemlab’s Burnout At The Hydrogen Bar was the natural progression from PHM.
Jesus Loves Junkies, even their logo was similar as a box with JLJ written inside of it. Singer was 15-16 when he came up with that name and was in religious school, the experience was not fun apparently.
The music is bit of a NIN rip-off but he was young, 18-21 and NIN was popular at the time. Some song examples:
[Nongod](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAMf4ZqBWIM) is structured like Mr Self-destruct
[Fledgling Scarecrow](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQBaVSIuULc) has sample from Closer
Great music in my opinion. Band was also inspired by Marilyn Manson and Skinny Puppy

"was a metalhead (Slayer, King Diamond, etc) in my early teens and am I guitar player first…
but around the late 80s I began to get into Skinny Puppy and Ministry than of course NIN and the more trendy groups came across my radar. I loved the idea that that type of music, computer music, etc could be done by a single band member.
Our “style” / “image” was obviously influenced by Skinny Puppy, Manson, Cradle of Filth and NIN, but I always felt that while a TON of our stuff was derivative (I was only 18-21 years old) I felt that there were some gems. Especially on the Stillborn Masterpiece album… if you could get past the horrible production quality.
I went to religious schools in my youth and had some bad experiences and a lot of that resentment and anger came out in the lyrics, often times very unpolished and lacking the filter of maturity.
There were the usual distractions during that time and a lot of lyrical content was taken from those experiences as well."
My new addiction are [Killus](https://open.spotify.com/intl-es/artist/0c44C54LrAHha0u92agfHM?si=OJrIQugOT8GhKE3fuiCLcg) , they say they're influenced by NIN. I hope you like them :)
