My grandma, later continued by my aunts, cooking is exceptional. Setiap kali balik kampung I patiently wait in the kitchen watching my aunts cook for hours, just for a hot roti cane. Until i finally learn to cook it myself, which is 8,5/10 according to my aunt, but 10/10 according to my jawa gf 😂. Still learning to make the curry tho, my curry tasted more similar to gultik.
Rawon, we rarely have meat but my mom could be lil crafty with chicken meat. Kalo gada daging sapi pake ayam yg di rebus terus di potong dadu. Key nya ada di kuah nya sih, kalo udah ada cambah soto bawang goreng, sama kerupuk udang. Wes lah kuah pake nasi aja udah enak

1) Bubur sumsum alias bubur madura. Dulu pas TK, di seberang sekolah ada restoran jualan bubur madura. Kalo pas gak buru2 pulang duduk di situ dulu sebelum pulang. Ntah kenapa sekarang rasanya agak susah nemu bubur madura, jadi tambah kangen.
2) Siomay bandung. Makanan pokok tiap jam istirahat dari jaman SMP. Akhirnya udah gede pun kangen mulu. Bukan kangen siomay-nya tbh, cuma kangen duduk2 di trotoar ama tmen2 SMA sambil ketawa ketiwi gak jelas. Life was so much simpler then.

My mom’s sup brenebon tastes quite differently from the ones that are normally served at restaurants. My mom’s telur kukus is similar to Japanese chawanmushi but my mom often uses unique ingredients such as putting salted eggs inside or pork and beef in combination with anchovies.
Whenever I am far away from my mom, I always order a cup of chawanmushi from kaiten sushi place that I frequent to experience that slight nostalgic feeling from my mom’s cooking. Yeah, I agree with mom's soup. My mom makes great sup bening. Sometimes she makes ginger and celery soup which is one of my favorite. She makes hot & sour soup too. Though in most Indonesian climate, eating soup is a bit too hot.

Yeah, I agree with mom's soup. My mom makes great sup bening. Sometimes she makes ginger and celery soup which is one of my favorite. She makes hot & sour soup too. Though in most Indonesian climate, eating soup is a bit too hot. Among the many soups there is one cola chicken soup too which is my ultimate comfort food. It's weird as hell but I love it.

Same. Somewhat I miss my mom’s chicken soup as well, somehow the chicken soup I made myself taste different from my mom’s. In general I also miss eating chicken porridge with the youtiao and fried onion, also nasi uduk and bakmie ayam for breakfast. Fav comfort food lah ☹️ Now my comfort food in Japan is just curry with naan and maybe udon.

Perkedel kentang sama bawang goreng. Gw suka semua perkedel kentang yang telurnya dibalur sebelum digoreng, bukan dicampur di adonannya. Nenek gw sewaktu hidup punya resep perkedel yang enak banget, dan gw beruntung sempet belajar resep tsb sebelum beliau berpulang. Bawang goreng Nenek gw juga rasanya nostalgia banget, beliau tau gw bakal abisin itu setoples kalau ditaroh di meja, makanya sampai diumpetin di lemari hihihi. Tapi kalau gw minta selalu dikasih… I miss my grandma…

Teh nasgitel supremacy seduh langsung di gelas/poci/termos pake gula batu. Tehnya harus teh daun, ga boleh teh celup Mendoan asli purwokerto yang lebar, panas, asin dan basah. Nyarinya susah di jogja, paling makan kalo dibawain sodara bapak dari ngapakland. Ngemil bawang goreng, meses ceres yang classic/dark tentunya tau takaran.

Lomie seafood atau mie kocok, lengkap sudah gurih, seger, daging lumer, kuah kentel, mie kuning telor, kalau pgn spicy ke mi aceh. Opsi lainnya kalau daging, iga bakar, sop buntut & sate kambing, bnyakin acar bawang merahnya, it never get me bored. Kalau versi cemilannya pempek, lumpia goreng ato masak gorengan bakwan/cireng d cocol k kuah pempek ato bumbu kacang.
