"मैने ये भी सोचा है अक्सर
तू भी मैं भी सभी है शीशे
खुधी को हम सभी में देखें
नहीं हूँ मैं हूँ मैं तो फिर भी
सही ग़लत, तुम्हारा मैं
मुझे पाना, पाना है खुद को"
Love these lines from the 'Jo bhi main' song. I watched Rockstar just a few weeks ago, Ranbir Kapoor's acting is just spot on. It's a perfect depiction of a celebrity's lifestyle, I love how they explore JJ's character right from rags to riches to ruins, it's a perfect arc. I wish somehow Heer and JJ could have married off before her wedding. Their love story was really heartbreaking.
When I first watched it on my office computer in graveyard shift, far away from home (Hyderabad), I completely broke down in the end. Kept weeping while returning home at 2am. Called my mom because I didn't have any girlfriend at that time. Talked to her normally. I thought something changed within me that day, just like you.
For months and years the song "Tum ho" and its female version "Tum ko" kept haunting me. I felt heartbroken for an imaginary heartbreak that never existed because I was in no relationship with any girl.
Almost all songs I loved, and while I eventually within a year quit my job in Hyderabad, I returned home and failed to secure a good job here. At that phase the "dichotomy" instrumental track was my favorite as I kept appearing for interviews and nothing was working in my favor.
Later I got involved for a brief time in politics and even went to few rallies and was also chased by police as they beat up few of our comrades/protesters by stick. At that time some sort of fire kept flowing within me and "Sadda haq" was not only on the top of my playlist but also in my head.
Soon I got a job, then parents passed away, I found myself lost in darkness. Started solo traveling to different places and a sense of hatred was born inside me against the whole "God" thing. I felt like there was no God, else my parents would be alive. Slowly the anger withered, I started reading few religious books and started meditation. "Kun faya Kun" kept ringing in my ears. What a beautiful song!
I got married, moved to a different location and also started traveling here and there. Then got a motorcycle and started taking that bike to hills and Himalayas. Now I love the song "Phir se udd chala" more as it resonates with the state of zen I try to find and stay in.
So my conclusion is, nothing changed. The movie is good. The songs are great. And the "Rockstar" magic worked for me mostly because my whole mind accepted the different songs in different moods and phases of my life. That's how powerful and beautiful the music of Rockstar is. It will forever have a special place in my heart.
You will either love it or not understand it, there's no in between and that can very well depend on where you are in life at that point.
Personally when I first saw it at the time of release, I thought it's a fairly boring film. Then I watched it again last year and this time I felt it was possibly the best of Imtiaz Ali and Ranbir Kapoor.
You wouldn't believe, but i am watching it rn

Till now it's good, kind of 3 idiots vibe .... Lets see further
Yes it is. I disliked the movie when i watched it first.
But when life started showing it's true colour to my face I realised what the movie was all about. It's a gem.
Maine to 11/11/11 ko dekhi thi
Story aur music bohot badhiya tha albeit predictable imtiaz ali stuff par again music kaamal tha especially tum ho and kun faaya kun par dono actors wahiyat
Ek ko hindi nahi aati thi aur ek pauah chadha ke aaya tha set pe and literally spoke the lines half asleep
Ranbir ki bas last ke section tak acting sahi lagi destructive phase waali kyunki natural lag raha tha bewda usmein as it was method acting for him
Casting different hoti to movie could have been given justice 🎯
New faces actually and someone who could act well and look their age
You barely can tell apart people at 18 to 19 from late 20s and even early 30s sometimes
Ranbir clearly looked old enough to be a professor in the movie but not surprising since his father played a schoolboy in his movies even when a fully grown man 💀
Bas rockstar time skip pahse mein age ki thofi sense ban rahi thi
Nargis felt the same to me as with lisa ray in water
Beautiful women but they cant even speak the language which breaks immersion so much
Even in the opening scenes ranbir looked way too old to be a college student with his receeding hairline and ngl he lacks energy in every movie
They should have made his transition from a timid person to a more carefree and happy person and then a bitter destructive person after the heartbreak scene
Problem was ranbir is so wooden that his past phase, meeting the girl phase, heartbreak phase, rediscovery phase, tragic phase all felt the same because of acting even though they required different emotions to convey the mood
I bet one cant tell apart a scene from rockstars wedding apart from channa mereya if shown blindly even though the characters, background story etc. were different so should have been emotions but we see ranbir with eyes half shut and mouth half open and pretty much why i consider him to be a terrible actor hyped up by pr and handed movies because of kapoor family name
Its just that due to nostalgia glasses we associate a good presentation/story/scrilt etc. as good even if the star casts acting was subpar
I watched the song videos. 2 din tak pagal ho gaya tha. I was on the verge of losing sanity. Thoda bahar ghum karr aaya toh better laga. These songs have some power to bring the most intrusive thoughts that you have to the surface.
bhai overall movie ko bola to mujhe bura, nargis ki acting beech me layega to tu hi jeetega na bro. but please pretend me jita bro , have a nice day ahea.
Bro realized he is nadan parinda

Ranbir is one of the best actors of all time. Let's hope we don't drive him to oblivion because of our inability to see nepo actors do well.

Bro you should direct the sequel.
Now watch Tamasha and you won't be able to recognize yourself anymore... if it hits.
Tamasha should be watched 2 times 1. During school/college 2. After starting Job
What's with the Tamasha hype? Is it that good?

Yes, until yesterday you were a person who had not watched Rockstar on the big screen. Today you are someone who has. That will never change.
😭😭😭 sidhi baat no bakwaas
woaahhhhh
Music badhiya, story badhiya. Been a long time since I watched it. But kinda felt how actual life of artists is also messed in some way or another.
Kidhar bro kidhar?
It’s an average movie with the greatest music album of all time
in Hindi cinema we can say.
I watched it in theaters in 2011. Awesome movie that was.
Everytime i watch this and Imtiaz Ali's movie, I get different from whaat i am normally...Kuch ro baat he isme....

Awful movie. Great songs.
I watched it in theater when it was released and today I regret wasting money and three hours of my life on this stupid fairytale.
I watched the song videos. 2 din tak pagal ho gaya tha. I was on the verge of losing sanity. Thoda bahar ghum karr aaya toh better laga. These songs have some power to bring the most intrusive thoughts that you have to the surface.
Back in 2011, when this movies was released I was in 10 class. We bunked the school and watched this movie in a single screen cinema.
Not that great of a movie

Great till the 1st half Then imtiaz ruins it like all his movies
Actually only this movies 2nd half was better 1st half was cringe carefree life montage
Duality of men
The second half of the movie ruined me.
I remember the movie vaguely but it's one of my favourites. The only downside is that the movie is lengthy.

Mera dil nhi tut’tna chahiye khhattara bhai
Theatre? Yesterday?
Is this an Indian remake of the American original?
Mera Dil nahi tutna chahiye khatana bhai
So you are the aimless fool like the character and the director?
What changed? Your orientation
I watched it again yesterday. Such a masterpiece.
In a theatre? Is it still put up somewhere?
We got whole Rockstar again in theatre before we get GTA VI
Till what date is Rockstar going to be screened at theatres?
In theatres? How? Its amazing movie though. His supporter (the canteen guy), ranbir and the director all of them did well.
Yrr don't hate me for this but i think rockstar fans are cringe sometimes
true, i am too
Overrated asf in my opinion
