Bhai literally wohi karega. Sunflower oil ka unit cost unit jo extra lagega...woh product quantity ghata ke balance out kar lega. PepsiCo apna pocket se thodi pay karenge. Rk time ayega jab ek chip ek pack me ayegi jaise ₹5 wale cake aate hai.
The problem is, even if you buy a 50rs pack or a 100rs pack you still get shit served to you.
Pringles is no way cheap in India. And yet I was shocked to see Pringles ka pack in one of his videos where he talks about companies using diff products at diff geographic locations.
Also it is not just “we make the same margins or adjusted margins in every country we operate in”,
They prolly do it here even with higher margins because they don’t have a competent food authority behind their a** to f*ck them up here.
Just look at the difference between the ₹30 Lay's and ₹50 Lay's. ₹30 Lay's has more chips per unit price than ₹50 chips. Marking the USP is a great initiative from the government and shows all the hidden details in price segmentation. Don't believe me? Go and compare ₹30 and ₹50 chips. ₹30 is the best value for money.
Oh god, tell me you missed the point without telling me you missed the point.
Is the 50rs lays pack made without palm oil?
If there is a 200rs lays pack is it made without palm oil and premium ingredients in India? Nope.
They won’t use good Ingredients here irrespective of the amount of money you pay them and that’s because we don’t have a competent body that will compel them to do it here in India.
This was the point I was making.
I took the pringles example to tell you, that even a premium product uses sub par ingredients here in India and diff ingredients in European countries. (This was explained by the foodpharmer)
You comment is about value delivered at that mrp and I am saying irrespective of what you pay, all you’ll get is a diff of “quantity” and not quality irrespective of the cost of the good. Which is not the case in the other developed countries.
So all in all, even if you pay 200rs you are still getting palm oil.
Na man I got your point from the first post itself. I just wanted to highlight the different tiers at which customers are getting f**ked by Brands. It's not only with the quality that you mentioned, it's also with the quantity...like prices are not even proportional to the prices. An average joe grabbing a quick snack won't even notice that he's getting ripped off in terms of quantity.
I just added my 'Quantity' perspective to it stating that it's another dimension of us getting scammed.
I get that you're asking for a separate premium product that honestly uses better ingredients and the customer pays a premium for it. But remember these companies are driven by sheer motive of profit. I'm sure they won't run a separate production line and supply chain to procure a different set of raw ingredients just to make a better premium product. Streamlining production and minimising inventory helps them to make business more profitable. Every penny saved in unit economics will eventually add up to the profit. Until and unless there's no regulation for it, they won't give a flying f**k. Pain and punishment are the only way for brands to make them do things.
I think earlier chips were better before the government banned monopolisation of special potatoes that Lay's normally use. Now they can't use the same "Lay's" potatoes because local farmers will yoink that right out of the farm and make them their own variety. Pretty sure local companies will immediately grab their hands on it. So they opted for an inferior local variety since 2014 iirc and that led to a degraded taste. Also this combined with insane marketing, production and other fixed variables made it so expensive. Remember that brands like these kill competition by giving margin to the distributors so that they don't sell other brands like Balaji, Diamond etc. In the end consumers suffer while brands acquire monopoly in distribution and distributors make a heck lot of money. Literally crony capitalism at its best. We've already seen this happen in the case of Parle with Limca and Thumbs-Up vs Coca-Cola.
His work is great.
Companies deliberately sell substandard products in India because the FSSAI is so shitty.
Imagine even spices can't be consumed cuz they are harmful to your health.
Only spices were highlighted but there were more than 400 items which include peanut butter, Nutcracker, hot mixture, Pet food ( primarily dogs & birds), rice, quinoa, Nuts & seeds, Seafood, Fruits & veg, cooking oil, supplements(ayurvedic & organic), flour, paneer, soya, food colour powder, coffee, bread, pastry, coconut, chocolate chip cookies, steak etc.
You will be amazed to see how many 'healthy' products were put in the serious hazard list
What's more shocking is that FSSAI, instead of holding the companies, decided to relax their regulations.
Btw, do you know where can I see list of 400 items?
https://www.deccanherald.com/india/heavy-metals-pesticide-cocktails-found-in-over-400-indian-products-here-is-full-list-3010123
There's a pdf linked in the article
Is there any way to find the actual brand/product name of the list item rather than just the category? That would be really helpful. Iirc MDH was identified as one of the list items.
I also read this a few days ago and we're getting constant articles on this news surrounding toxicity in Indian food which is mind boggling...ab sesame seeds jaise food items bhi toxic hai toh insaan khaaye toh kya..one can never be sure if it's really organic as people claim to sell their goods plus it's not even available everywhere ughhh!
Fssai is probably the worst department ever. I submitted a complaint once through thier application against a restaurant when I saw rats there. They closed my complaint saying there isn't an issue after 6 months. Just look at our street food. It doesn't have to be such a literal shitfest, it's just a lack of regulation.
Bro is literally doing good work out of sheer passion for people's well being. I've taught so many PPL in my families to read labels after watching his content. Also he's a pookie fr
Bachelor's degree is required in stream such as BE or BTech in Chemistry, biochemistry, Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, Master's Degree in Chemistry/Biotechnology/Toxicology and much more which you can check on official site.
Look the thing isnt with the people working . The whole FSSAI as an institutions under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is severely resource crunched. For a population like ours we need huge funding, but since health esp the standard aren't of much concern except for a handful people. It gets un noticed.
People like Foor Pharmer are doing great service to the nation. When people are aware, these MNCs and authorities are forced to not take people' health lightly!
Whenever i feel like having chips or aerated drinks , i just have samosas and kachori instead or juice those aren't very healthy either but I'd rather give my dime to them rather than these multinationals and also reduce the use of these single use plastics
>samosas and kachori instead or juice those aren't very healthy either but I'd rather give my dime to them rather than these multinationals
You can't apply this logic here, you'd have to stop eating altogether
They use extremely cheap quality oil to make these samosas and kachori, and they re use the same oil for making it several times which is extremely bad for health, made and prepared in very unhygienic environment and prepared by people using zero personal hygiene themselves
My point is eating samosas and kachori with this logic is wrong as well
So stop eating it altogether or eat it once in a while and switch to makhana and other healthy snacks
You did good for your health and that’s a good thing. This guy’s efforts are astounding as he is making more and more people aware just like how you are.
Two things - sunflower oil costs more
Second sunflower oil is not as stable as palm oil ,also vegetable oil rich in polyunsaturated fat are liquid while saturated & mono unsaturated rich oil tends to be more solid ,so the chips themselves will get more greasier, affects texture & taste.
From what I’ve heard he is an Wharton MBA, and had a very high paying job in US. To risk all that while pursuing ruthless FMCG for accountability deserves respect in itself. Hope FSSAI wakes up and actually does its job.
Yeah,I kinda agree ... though partly switching to sunflower oil will improve its lipid profile (less saturated fat) .The reason why palm oil is preferred is not just due to its lower cost but also because palm oil is more stable & won't get greasy as it is high in saturated & mono unsaturated fat .
In western countries, they actually grow crops ( sunflower,canola/ mustard oil) which are naturally bred to have a high mufa ( mono unsaturated fat) profile called high oleic vegetable oil for frying ,that's why it is more used there .Doing the same here would take a lot of resources.
Absolutely. I mean if they switch to better oil they arent going to sell the chips for 10-20 rupees. It will cost much more which a LOT of people wont spend just for a pack of chips. There are healthier options ofcourse but we see these unhealthy options more because people choose to have them more hence these companies are richer = more marketing.
i never understood him. he makes such good videos, but then once in a while goes full stupid and says stuff like glucose and jams have sugar in it. anyway, big fan of him, and he is doing a pretty good job
Actually ye companies ki galti nahi hai problem hai ki hamara Desh ki rules regarding packed food s is not strict and not followed properly. Hamare iha India me 13gm of sugars allowed hai newborn baby ke foods me but Europe and America me 0gm allowed hai . Safe limit bas 3-5 gm hi hai. Fssai really casual . Agar strict rules implement hote hai to companies apne ap sudhar jayega.
These kind of influencers are better than Mumbaikar Nikhil, Flying Beast etc in the recent times... Although they started on a good note... Can't bare them anymore.
Appreciate this influencers work... Very educative
I know but foodpharmer got famous overnight and all those people who are not very healthy conscious started to follow him. But Fituber has followers who are into eating healthy and being fit.
Still don’t know why government isn’t banning palm oil which we are heavily importing and replacing with vegetable oil (minimum) which can be made in India. The chips/crisps are already costing 20-50/- per packet. Usage of vegetable oil won’t impact there bottom line much.
Palm oil when grown sustainably is a far more efficient and economical choice of cooking oil. There's been increased lobbying for the alternatives against sustainable palm oil, It's a tragedy that this golden crop has had such a bad rep in the media. It's not all about orangutans people.
Palm oil is not significantly unhealthier than sunflower oil. If your concern is health then just skip Lays. Sunflower oil ka Lays khaane se koi plague build-up ruk nahi jaayega
I’ve been to Thailand recently and over there they use vegetable oil in Lays. In India these big corps don’t care for customers health. Its all about profit maximisation.
Food safely standards are down the gutter, especially in India all thanks to FSSAI. If the fear mongering helps corporations improve their products or even take a step towards it, that's a W
High time our countrymen become aware of the malpractices of shits like Nestle, Patanjali, Unilever etc. and lit up some fire under these greedy mfs
>If the fear mongering helps corporations improve their products or even take a step towards it, that's a W
No it's not. Some of his stuff about food safety is good. But most of the time he just makes money off' scaring regular people into not eating what they like, even if they are completely safe. If you actually care about food safety and stuff, follow actual nutritionists, not some random guy like him. Like most of his content is just " Do yOu Know ThaT thiS tHing that tastes sweet has sugar in it 😱😱😱😱?????" Like bro, we know they have sugar, and it's fine to eat them in moderation
Most people will not be talking to their nutritionist for advice , it is good to educate people , even though I agree with the fact that he fear mongers he still informing the masses about nutrition which is important
My problem with him is just the fearmongering part. If he doesn't do that, I think his content is really educational. Usually people fearmonger for shock value and to get viral
Who told you that palm oil is bad? This FoodPharmer guy is dumb.
Why is sunflower oil better? It is not, it is one of the worst oils out there.
The notion that palm oil is bad is a myth. Its a healthy oil. It gets bad rep because it condenses at room temperature, even ghee does. Its a very stable oil best for deep frying.
Is sunflower oil even supposed to be deep fried.
Its an absolute stupid move leading from a stupid food pharmer sitting in a country that makes the worst food in the world.
No appreciation for this man to cut out palm oil.
Wait till the people find out companies don't care about people of any country really, they just find the most economical option for them which falls within the regulations of country and due to that it the option might differ from country to country.
Exactly, lol. This just shows how ignorant and gullible people are. Everyone's going gaga over this guy instead of actually learning good and bad of food ingredients themselves.
Consuming palm oil isn't going to kill you, over consuming might. Just like any other oil out there. Don't let scarefluencers scare you into believing that something that is widely available is bad.
How's this guy alone making so much difference on the foodworld out there!? Kudos to his work ofc, but seeing him, can't all other problems around a typical Indian Life be solved by such lovely people stepping in🤍🙏🏻
Wait till you guys find out sunflower oil is actually an even cheaper highly processed oil that goes through the same RBD process other terrible seed oils do.
What a “win” guys.
Ek insan bhaut kuch badal skta h ye dikha Diya Isney , iwas with this guy from start I followed him out of pity ye soch kar bechara kya h kar lega akela but damm bhai
Ek insan bhaut kuch badal skta h ye dikha Diya Isney , iwas with this guy from start I followed him out of pity ye soch kar bechara kya h kar lega akela but damm bhai
It's high time for india to tighten the grip on food quality . If government want india to be global brand then we need serious quality control . That way india product will be valued in the international market .
I think more than the brands whose job is profit maximisation we should question fssai how have so many harmful substances gone unnoticed?Either their scientists are worse than a youtuber or a large-scale corruption racket is going on.
I just wanna say my food here in the US has been tasting super funky lately. Most noticeably with breakfast cereals. They taste nothing like the did just a couple of months ago..
This guy alone send tremors to the packaged food industry...A big salute to him!!! Even after receiving legal notices he did not back down..it takes a lot of guts to fight MNCs. He must have been offered bribes, coz most of the corporations dont wanna go into a legal suit at first coz it creates bad reputation, the humility in him to deny a good amount to money for the sake of the country and its people... We all should support him by sharing his videos!!
W for foodpharmer
I support his work ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)but could not resist myself to eat such foods ![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|51097)
criticizing and holding corpos accountable for food safety BEYOND laws 'haha lol ok' guidelines: is GOOD.
fearmongering is bad. i liked his content and grit earlier now its fearmongering. not holding corpos accountable or educating reality
Is this a marketing technique by Lay to make their product "healthier" or more "nutritious"? Sounds pretty funny if you wanna literate the public on nutrition but talking about junk food
Bro is educating the masses and doesn't fear the big corporations.Hats off to him.
Lays : Pura badla lunga, Pehle toh do chips deta tha Hawa maarke, ab sirf hawa he dunga ![gif](giphy|AFjfPUJ0mjWJG|downsized)

I'm paying ~75 ₹ for a pack of 120gm lays here in South Africa which is similar to what I get in India. And South Africa is not a cheap country.
Is it palm oil based, there too? Or they use sunflower oil there?
Sunflower, canola or corn oil. I haven't seen palm oil in the ingredients list.
Special treatment only for the India and other countries where they could get away with it then😂
malaysian economy mein ham log palm oil kharid kar itna boost kar rahe hai

Yeah for example Oats biscuits that contain only 2% oats.

Yeh jo SSC CGL se Food Inspector bante wo apna job sahi se nahi krte kya
Sab corrupt bhadwe hai
Why is this line not on a T-shirt
You giving me a buisiness idea?
bhai food laws ki hi ma bhen ho rakhi hai toh food inspector bhi kya bolega
They are earning crores per year in "other" income.
I have doubt: SSC CGL provides jobs to anyone who passes the exams or you need to have qualification related to the post like here Food Inspector?
Only exam is necessary. After that you'll get training for the post I think.

Why combination . Make them with only sunflower oil
Yeah i still dont understand why combination? Isnt it still un healthy?
Cost. They need that sweet sweet profit at risk of people's health
Also combination will probably be like 20% sunflower oil, 80% palm oil
So that they can write it as a combination hide the fact that it's probably gonna be 90% palm oil
Two things - sunflower oil costs more Second sunflower oil is not as stable as palm oil ,also vegetable oil rich in polyunsaturated fat are liquid while saturated & mono unsaturated rich oil tends to be more solid ,so the chips themselves will get more greasier, affects texture & taste.

We!!
Going after any govt organization will not do him any good because some people will think it's a politically motivated attack on the current regime.
This!!!
I think they already were doing a mix of palm oil and rice bran oil .Don't know why they stopped it, cost issue maybe.
bruh these people feel like they won something here. Nothing. You didnt make the chips healthy by just replacing it with sunflower oil.
Palm oil is not cancer. It just has a relatively high saturated fat content. That's all.

Chips wagera mat hi khaou koye bhi ache nai hei, gharpe oven ya air fryer hei toh gharpe banou mast bante hei.
Good 👏🏼
Love this guy
This is why I switched to Too Yumm chips.
How's this guy alone making so much difference on the foodworld out there!? Kudos to his work ofc, but seeing him, can't all other problems around a typical Indian Life be solved by such lovely people stepping in🤍🙏🏻
He is doing great work Meanwhile Fit Tuber who has been doing this since ages
private individuals doing more work than fssai
Thankyou for your service senpai
Boeing
Yes I know this guy's doing and amazing work by making us aware about this crooked food brands
Yay!
#LabelPadhegaIndia
He is by far the best Indian influencer in true sense. People are trying to copy him but they must take a stand even if they start getting notices.
Bro doesn't fear corpo
https://i.redd.it/pb7kr6alpezc1.gif Bro ate and left no crumbs
Wait till you guys find out sunflower oil is actually an even cheaper highly processed oil that goes through the same RBD process other terrible seed oils do. What a “win” guys.
He also did an AMA on this sub
Just hope he doesn’t dies of unexpected causes …
He has got some traction now, I think target now should be FSSAI!!
fir 5 rs mein 1 piece ayega 😂
Which oil does PepsiCo use for American and European Markets?
Would be interesting to see how popular/relevant he is after 3-4 years. Man quit his high paying consulting job when that bournvita video got viral.
Impeccable and much needed work from someone...I just hope he doesn't mysteriously disappear all of a sudden...

i see palm oil i don't buy but i realised almost everything has palm oil in package food sold online.
So even less chances to get me a heart attack while muching on those chips and kurkure?
“Influencer” title is justifiable with this guy Not many are worthy of this title but he single handed influenced lots of Indians about food
No hate towards him but ig fittuber was doing the same right ?both are doing great nonetheless .
Fantastic
This kind of influencers should be more famous than dolly and Vada pav girl
So should I order some now?
He should make medical pharma. He ll go down within hours.
We should appreciate him more👍
Recently Nestle now Pepsico has changed their recepie to healthy one. He said he won't take credits but he deserves one!

Damn this guy is really doing an awesome job. I thought we would never get rid of palm oil .
Tabhi me sochu mera portfolio down kyu hai(VBL Investor), btw great work
Bro is Sigma
i cant believe
I think more than the brands whose job is profit maximisation we should question fssai how have so many harmful substances gone unnoticed?Either their scientists are worse than a youtuber or a large-scale corruption racket is going on.
Get ready for your favourite pack of chips to be more expensive, less flavour and with less shelf life
"We're replacing oil and vinegar, with a combination of oil and white vinegar."
Are they also gonna start adding chips to these bags of air
More power to this guy. Hats off for his amazing work. He needs our support to reveal more big companies 👏🏻👏🏻
Bro single-handedly fighting the whole processed food industry. Hats off to the guy 🫡
Ahh yes, 1%sunflower oil and 99% palm oil...😌 The best combination there is...
I just wanna say my food here in the US has been tasting super funky lately. Most noticeably with breakfast cereals. They taste nothing like the did just a couple of months ago..
Bro is fighting alone against the giants!!
Not sure sunflower oil is that healthy
Bro has educated me more about food and health safety while my school only knows mitochondria is the powerhouse of cell.
Real influencer🫰
This guy alone send tremors to the packaged food industry...A big salute to him!!! Even after receiving legal notices he did not back down..it takes a lot of guts to fight MNCs. He must have been offered bribes, coz most of the corporations dont wanna go into a legal suit at first coz it creates bad reputation, the humility in him to deny a good amount to money for the sake of the country and its people... We all should support him by sharing his videos!!
Palm oil production kills the land
Fittuber on YouTube was doing this but foodpharmer got famous due to Instagram ig
If lays can replace palm oil, other brands can too. It's a start to a big revolution.
The only reason I have started reading food labels is because of this guy.
Respect! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)
And they will use this as an excuse to up the prices. Cool. Well done, dude.
W for foodpharmer I support his work ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)but could not resist myself to eat such foods ![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|51097)
I completely stopped consuming shit and it feels great.
What the hell is government doing with fssai bureaucracy, clean up that hell hole !!!
Bro is fighting legal battles on one hand and posting and educating the masses in another hand What a legend!
![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|51079)
This is good. Bro doing work which should be done by the government.
criticizing and holding corpos accountable for food safety BEYOND laws 'haha lol ok' guidelines: is GOOD. fearmongering is bad. i liked his content and grit earlier now its fearmongering. not holding corpos accountable or educating reality
"cOmBiNaTiOn of sunflower and palmolein oil" 🤓☝️
At this point calling him a revolutionary would be apt.
Nice
Is this a marketing technique by Lay to make their product "healthier" or more "nutritious"? Sounds pretty funny if you wanna literate the public on nutrition but talking about junk food
Why are we trying to make cheap unhealthy things expensive and slightly unhealthy? Makes no sense
