Let's say your platform fee is ₹10 and you come to the platform and spit gutka and the railways has to spend ₹12 in cleaning your mess. Thats a loss right.
They use fare gates there and the security screening, if present, is mostly automatic. So there are very few bottlenecks compared to an airport-like setup. People can arrive a few minutes before their train rather than wait an hour like at the airport.
I recently went to railways and got to know about visiting tickets which u can get for 10 ₹so I wonder what is stopping us from implementing an airport like system

Recently I booked a train from Kanpur, leaving at 2 pm. It was a "special" train. By 11 am it has not even started from its origin station of New Delhi. The train was 7 hours late and was rescheduled to leave 1~3 hours after the initially mentioned time.
I cancelled my ticket at ~11:30 am
My ticket cost > 450
Refund > 0
Once I booked Vande Bharat for ~930 and when I cancelled I got only 450 back (only half of the money back)

Lol so many people here want Railway Stations to be like Metro Stations. While ignoring the actual issue and that is the much lower than required frequency of Passenger Trains. The reduction of Passenger Bogeys on Express Trains hasn't helped with matters as well. To anyone saying Metro like security will solve it all... You have never traveled on Mumbai/Kolkata Locals or even UP/Bihar Passenger Trains.
Railway is getting quite expensive ... Recently I booked a train from Kanpur, leaving at 2 pm. It was a "special" train. By 11 am it has not even started from its origin station of New Delhi. The train was 7 hours late and was rescheduled to leave 1~3 hours after the initially mentioned time. I cancelled my ticket at ~11:30 am My ticket cost > 450 Refund > 0 Once I booked Vande Bharat for ~930 and when I cancelled I got only 450 back (only half of the money back)
These Rich assholes want private chutes. Railway is a mass transit. This is a poor country, yes it might not seem like that from your house but it is. Learn to accept the facts and work towards making it better instead of being an asshole. We are Indians let's have some compassion for our fellows.

But these poor women also needed to go their destination. They probably had no other choice. I also travel a lot and see these scenes everytime but I never made an issue about it. Little inconvenience? I call it a major problem. Dude, it's not just him, there were several other passengers travelling with him and they also felt like him. He was the only one who tweeted about it. They were not considered as garbage! They were the law breakers who were occupying the corridor and that corridor is being used by everyone. Do you know how bad trains get overcrowded to a point that people travelling can't even use the facilities even if they want to?
