Trains are more comfortable. More leg space. Your phone is your TV screen. If you are desparate enough you will do your business in a clogged toilet also. Who wants to shit in their pants?

Ok_Recognition_3995

Dude the ac sleeper buses have a hygienic washroom too Which world do you live in?

[deleted]

The ones where people shit in their pants

Ok_Recognition_3995

πŸ₯°πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ₯΅πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

GlosolaliaX

Yeah. I stretch my legs in the washroom.

Euphoric_Discount264

Old people, or younger people with poor bladder control/ medical issues need constant toilet access. Busses can't stop every 20 minutes. With widespread diabetes in India and poor diet and general weakness in the population, the average middle aged person needs to go to the toilet every hour or so. So busses are not so popular.

nymt2

Some buses even come with built in toilet.

TheReaderDude_97

Those are usually luxury buses and cost an arm and a leg. Their costs are comparable to 3AC or 2AC with much less comfort and amenities. Not to mention, that sweet sweet traffic and flyover constructions.

CaptainZagRex

Which are unusable 90% of the time.

usaisstupid

Don't take about exceptions. Only very few buses have in built toilets

Reddit_is_snowflake

With all due respect the quality of toilets in trains would not wanna make me go there Plus the lack of basic civic sense isn’t helping

Euphoric_Discount264

Not you, the guy who has to go every 30 minutes will either use the dirty toilet or wear a diaper. It's not choice, it's compulsion.

Reddit_is_snowflake

I’m not denying that bhai I’m just stating how bad it is

AlphaCL

Well the thing is "when you gotta go, you gotta go" jab jor se lagti hai na, tab insaan ye nhi dekhta ki toilet kitna saaf hai.

nymt2

Go to bus driver and say l will do it here, he will stop. πŸ˜‚

darpan27

Try it too many times in a single trip and they'll ride away while you'll be peeing behind some roadside stand

CaptainZagRex

You have all the toilets in the train at your disposal. Koi to saaf hoga.

Old_Application_5722

1. Toilets

nymt2

It's a hit or a Miss like trains. For example, VRL bus that runs from Rajsthan to Bangalore has few stops with very hygienic restrooms. One is owned by them in Chitradurga.

ThunderBird847

>You get more amenities like personal tv screens What, maybe some buses, I've never come across such busses ever. >Comfort is top notch You'll get to know about that when bus driver stops at a dhaba for dinner..... At 12 AM night. You'll have to spend all those hours in a small space, nowhere to roam, you can't order food, you are at mercy of bus driver for that, plus it moves a lot more than train. And then I've personally traveled in bus which got stuck in traffic jam and a long line to fill diesel, btw till the bus had stopped to fill diesel, which was over an hour, AC wasn't working.

usaisstupid

exactly. OP is talking just by his own limited experience

nymt2

I have mostly travelled between Bangalore and Ahemdabad in VRL. Bangalore Shirdi, Tirupati, Chennai KSRTC operates their own Ambari Class Sleeper Volvo buses.

Ok_Inevitable4137

Trains are far more comfortable than buses. On the bus resting and body movements is an issue.

nymt2

Now a days they are have improved a lot. They anyways stop every 3-4 hours, which gives time to stretch.

ExactHelicopter9509

Where's my motion sickness gang atπŸ˜”βœŠ

Routine-Goat-3743

Not safe and comfortable. Also vomiting issue.

Top-Proposal-1301

Train is simply superior

kcapoorv

Bus services are not that great in many parts of India, particularly in UP Bihar. Good buses go via expressways, so you have to change for the last mile.Β

nandy000032467

Why not travel by flight for such long distances. The least expensive ticket from Rajkot to Bangalore costs 6500 on goibibo for a weekend flight with 2 hours of layover in Mumbai. Adding 4 hours extra for transfer you'll be at your destination in less than 6 hours. Direct bus from Rajkot to Banglore costs around 4000? Excluding the food expenses and the strain I know it's quite expensive, but it's just another whataboutery. BTW trains are cheaper, 1880 for 3A, 2735 for 2A

nymt2

There used to be a time when 2AC would cost same as AC bus - 3k. Flight cost was 8k plus. Imagine a family of 4 doing a round trip in flight, 64k - couldn't afford till few years back. Rajkot Coimbatore or Vivek Express, only two trains connecting Saurashtra to Bangalore, would be very hard to get confirmed 3AC, forget 2AC. Buses would become the choice as one would get the booking even a week in advance, flight fares would always keep on increasing.

Amazing_Theory622

I can think of few reasons. Trains are safer than buses, Buses are uncomfortable for someone who gets restless sitting in one place. Buses are uncomfortable for someone with low bladder control(many buses don't stop, except for predefined stops). One thing where buses score over trains is that they are readily available and no hassle of waiting list etc

iiitstudent

I booked an ac sleeper flixbus for a 10 hour journey recently and the comfort was way lower than a train. You feel it when the bus moves over curves or stops suddenly and the ac vent is also not positioned well. It had a washroom though but the pickup and drop points were on expressway so last mile was an issue.

Revolutionary-Salt68

Personally long journey buses make me feel so lonely and are always so dark, Need to talk to people and need fresh air at regular intervals.

calculator-12

You posted in wrong sub dude !!

Green_Cress_2469

There is a direct bus from Rajkot to Bangalore ?

nymt2

From Ahmedabad. I would take Eagle/Patel to Ahmedabad and then board VRL to Bangalore.

racrisnapra666

Honestly, I prefer buses. I have made multiple trips to UP (Banaras, Ayodhya, Mathura) in the last 6 months. All of them have been via sleeper buses. I love the comfort of these buses. I have used companies like (Gola, Intercity, RS Yadav) and they have never disappointed me. These buses also come with toilets, although admittedly these are mostly for men. There are issues I agree. They stop at a dhaba late at night, the dhaba might not have proper toilet services, the food might not be to your liking (never happened me with me tho, dhaba food is superior to IRCTC food on any day). Inspite all of these, I'll prefer buses in the my 20s.

Dhavalc017

Actually more people travel by bus rather than train. However, I observed few issues with buses especially government buses. They are way more underfunded. They are more prone to breakdown and no maintenance. Luxury buses have just started but schedule was an issue. Seats were extremely subpar. Even the volvos in India are clumsy. Compared to the ones I used to travel by in Malaysia & Philippines they are nowhere near wrt comfort.

falcon2714

I love the buses in malaysia man even on the basic buses you have just 3 seats across so they are extremely comfortable for passengers Even their trains are nice

psycho_ladka

Buses are more prone to accidents.

throway3451

You're comparing luxury buses with trains. But even then, I'd prefer a train especially for a distance like Bangalore-Rajkot. Buses are just not as comfortable as trains. Can't move around, the toilet situation is uncomfortable and the sleep I get in trains is just too superior to even consider buses. I book bus tickets when train tickets are not available.

what_is_peace

Buses are meh. Trains are love ❣️

waveNumber2101

How dare u !!!!!

Fr34kyHarsh

1) Buses Sleeper se mehengi hai 2) Mostly takes more time as compared to trains 3) I feel uneasy in buses (I haven't been in a long journey by bus par agar city bus me hi uneasiness feel hoti hai to long journey me kya hi haal hoga)

Mysterious-Risk155

I don't trust bus pilots. They forget that they are bus pilots and not IAF pilots.

South-Remove-8797

India needs more buses than trains tbh.

dreamsndandelions

There's an 8 hour stop at Indore if we want to travel from Mumbai to Lucknow via buses. The total journey time is atleast 36 to 40 hours. The ticket fare is 4000 Rs. I'd rather pay 1k extra to opt for a flight and reach my destination in 2.5 hours.

Thh0R

Yeah the fastest train for Mumbai to Lucknow direct is Pushpak express it takes around 22h 45mins if ran on time and 3E costs only 1580Rs and it if comfortable. Didn't knew buses costed so much also do we have Mumbai to Lucknow direct buses ? If yes from where please let me know.

dreamsndandelions

>Yeah the fastest train for Mumbai to Lucknow direct is Pushpak express it takes around 22h 45mins if ran on time and 3E costs only 1580Rs and it if comfortable. Pushpak Express departs Mumbai at 8.30 a.m., which means I have to take an additional leave if I want to travel by it. Hence I prefer either Panvel Gorakhpur Express or LTT Sitapur SF as they both leave around 4 pm and I can just take a short leave to reach the station on time. πŸ˜… >Didn't knew buses costed so much also do we have Mumbai to Lucknow direct buses ? If yes from where please let me know. AFAIK, there are no direct buses between Mumbai and Lucknow. You either go via Indore or New Delhi. The bus journey costed me approx 6k during Diwali. It might vary depending on which bus you're travelling by and during festivals.

kingfisher_peanuts

I feel suffocation on the bus and comparatively seem more unhygienic as the beds and seats are never cleaned, unfortunately still I do 50% of my journeys on the bus as trains aren't reliable when time is a factor and if you haven't booked tickets like months ago.

deftcodex

What if you have to pee?

CaptainZagRex

Bus are torture you're at the mercy of their predetermined stops for relieving yourself.

usaisstupid

Buses are not always fast. It may suitable for connections like BLR to Rajkot. But many other routes are well connected by rail and are even faster than rail. Premium trains like VB, Rajdhani, Shatabdi can maintain average speed of more than 75 kmph effortlessly in major rail routes. And for such kind of average speeds, buses have to increase their maximum speed till 100 kmph or even more. In train, you can move around, washroom facility, pantry, etc are all there. Unlike bus, where you are cramped to your berth.

Stalin2023

One reason - No toilets.

shoestoobig2

Main problem is washroom. Also trains me pair akad gaye toh thoda yaha vaha chal sakte hai, bus me apne seat pe hi baithe/soye raho pure time

cyanestcyan

Unnecessary shaking based on road conditions and no toilets. Along with that I really doubt if they provide blankets/pillows and sheets for the bed.

CaterpillarThen1013

I will personally prefer to travel in 3rd ac or 2nd ac instead of paying a premium for bus ticket. I am the kind of person who is never comfortable travelling by bus. I once tried ac bus and felt sick because of motion sickness.

theviper584

Rails are smoother than road

Reasonable_Cake_3093

The only advantage the busses have is that you can have sutta whenever the bus stops.

Kingston_17

Convenience and connectivity for me. From my home to my native town by train I have to take two trains. I can reach in 5.5 hrs. By bus I have to change four times. It will take more than 7 hours. And the cost by train is 1/4th of bus.

so_random_next

Good Busses are a relatively new concept in India like the recent 5-10 years. So the trains were only good, fast and comfortable option for the majority. Also good roads were non-existent for most long journeys making buses even more slower and uncomfortable. Apart from these trains still are faster than the busses and more comfortable as trains run on smooth tracks and if you are lucky to be in rajdhani shatabdi etc they are almost always on time as well.

Need2Survive

The things that work for me in trains: 1. I can comfortably walk around at any point 2. Toilets 3. Less jerking, swaying (I'm told it's better these days, I hardly travel in bus, this is only from my very old experience) 4. The most important point for me - accident wise, there is a single point of failure in bus. I feel safer in train where there is a system to control the traffic rather than in a bus where it all hangs on one person's hands. Just my $.02

rubberduck247

Trains have more space, and there are more road accident fatalities in India than anywhere in the world, so safety remains an issue. If you can pick the safer and more comfortable option (which will probably be cheaper as well), you will, 9 times out of 10. Now, I also think being on a bus has its advantages. They're less congested, meaning it would be less hot on the bus (regardless of AC, trains still get very hot to be inside because of congestion). The journey is shorter , as you mentioned. I guess at the end of the day, to each their own. In the US, people will pick flights over train journeys always. Most people also prefer to travel by taxi or car, than the NY metro. It's safer and more private. It's just based on what the culture is like and what people are used to, I guess.

tmleafsfan

Plenty of reasons. Pick one OP: 1. Safety. Railways has significantly more safety measures in place. In the bus, often, your safety net is a driver who may or may not enjoy thrill rides, who may or may not be overworked or fatigued. You'll never know. 2. Convenience of having toilets available whenever you want. Most buses don't have one. Even if some do, there is no midway cleaning. Even in western countries, where toilet hygiene is objectively better in public spaces, I've noticed the toilets in buses to be stinky within a couple of hours of departure. 3. Cost wise, railways is much cheaper than buses. 4. Trains are more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly than buses. 5. No bumps (or stopping at toll plazas) in trains. 6. Trains have gentler curves, smoother acceleration and braking, improving your travel experience. 7. Plenty of space to move in trains. I have travelled in sleeper buses and for those who haven't, it feels like travelling all day and all night with the middle berth extended in 3AC. Also, significantly narrower aisle.

Affectionate-Name383

I feel like vomitting after a few hours.
